[/ QUOTE ] I don't think you need a base, or even be in an SG to get credit for this badge.

The game still makes every attack root your character. Being able to manipulate things on your end, or "get lucky", doesn't change that fact. Finding a way to skip the rooting animations doesn't mean he was wrong; it's just a workaround for the rooting mechanic that exists for all attack powers.
EDIT: clarification
[/ QUOTE ]
My original statement is still accurate, regardless of how you're trying to spin it. A character is supposed to be rooted during animations, but that doesn't always happen. Also there doesn't need to be manipulation 'on your end' for this to happen. It can happen just from server hiccups.
Yes the game mechanic usually functions normally. However, that doesn't invalidate my statement.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not the one spinning here. The fact is, every attack power in the game has a root time and every attack power in the game WILL root your character unless you manipulate the situation or the server has a "hiccup". These occurrences do not validate anything regarding your "correction" about his statement. They're things that happen outside of the coding and can't be helped. Hence, you're wrong, but if you want to jump back and edit your arguments again so that you can appear to say "I know it's supposed to work that way, but...", go ahead.
Every attack has a root time, period. Something happening during said root time that causes the root time to not trigger for some reason doesn't change that simple fact.

I guess this is a rant about the influx of new players with lvl 50s who don't know the basic things. I ran into a player in Pocket D, a lvl 7 PB who was asking how they got out. I glanced at their personal info to find not even a single vet reward, no gladiator badges, and a total of 3 (all Atlas park) exploration badges. They said they had been playing 45 days. *sigh* they didn't even know where Peregrine Island was.
I know we were all newbs at one point in time...but isn't that a bit rediculous?
[/ QUOTE ]
it is rediculous. its one thing not knowing and another to half a** it and rush through the game. i have no patience for those people and prefer people that buy their accounts on ebay, which are idiots for buyin them in the first place, or pl to 50 didnt play the game at all.

I've never used QR before, so I didn't realize it would single out the user whose post I was replying to; I thought it would just be a generic reply. No offense intended.

*Gasp* All this time on the boards and you didn't know THAT?! For shame! How dare you not know how the board works by now!

Yes, it is extremely ridiculous.
I seriously think that since the PL'ing exploits became available there was a massive influx from a certain other MMORPG where the players don't behave as politely and are nowhere near as friendly as the average CoX player of old.
I have a feeling that this new crowd came because they don't think you can "really" play an MMORPG until you hit level 50.
Those of us that have been here for a while know that is not the case with CoX.
If you rush to level 50 in CoX, you missed the "playing" of the game.
CoX is about exploring the game environment as you progress.
Once you are level 50, pretty much everywhere except for the MA and the highest level zones aren't a challenge or worth taking the time to explore.
I can only hope that once they get to level 50 they take the time to make a new character and really play the game.

For any of you new players reading this. Here are somethings that I really think that you should do ::
<ul type="square">[*]Run the training/tutorial mission - read everything in it. This will help you out a whole lot. (Sure you might know a lot about another MMORPG, but you don't know the basics of CoX)[*]I strongly suggest running some missions with your contacts before you do anything else.[*] If you team up early on, do it with a team that is your level.[*]Around the time you hit level 10 and before level 17, go to the university in Steel Canyon and run the University arc to learn about IO's.[*]Before you start selling stuff on the market, talk to the Market Rep and read the info about the Market.[*]If you have questions, use the [Help] channel by typing /hc [message]. There are still those of us who will help you. - but if you don't know basics, you might want to start at the top of my list before asking. I know that's the first place I will send you if you are asking about information that is in the tutorial/training area.[/list]
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd like to add on there, "Avoid the Sewers until you've done missions from your contacts."
The sewers are the gateway drug to MA PLing hehe. -
Just like Paragonwiki says, respec recipes are rare drops. When you complete the TV trial, you get a respec, not a respec recipe.

I reported an avatar once and it was removed a couple of hours later.

And it's really annoying when you hit ENTER only once and start to type, only to end up leaping up and down, opening and closing various windows, and then suddenly rushing headlong at whatever it was you had targeted (usually a Giant Monster, or Arch Villain...)
[/ QUOTE ]
That is a rite of passage in this game...
One that I revisit far too often! -
[ QUOTE ]
...You know, I've read the OP's two posts in this thread over a couple times. He's never once said that he was asking this for an MA mission. Other posters just assumed, he never confirmed or denied...
[/ QUOTE ]
I think we all assumed it because of his first post:
I have a decent story thought up making synapse change sides so it wouldnt just be like a spoof -

Heck I know a lot of people with "The Shadow" look a likes. I have a few. Black suit, black hat, black mask over mouth. But mine are in CoH and are D3s or D2 scrappers and their bio and name don't even suggest who I'm homaging.
As for not well known in the 21st Century, well they still show the Adam Baldwin movie version on TV every once in a while.

You mean Alec BaldwinAwesome movie hehe

But you know this will come up again. So this entire explanation should have been posted elsewhere and linked.

The Brute: A ten ton bowling ball on a flat stretch of road. You can push it around, but it takes a while to get the ball rolling. It damages cars and squishes yappy little dogs, but isn't all that impressive. Then you come to a slope in the road and it takes off, picking up more and more speed wiping out anyone and anything in it's path.
The Stalker: a ten ton bowling ball suspended twenty feet in the air. When someone walks underneath, BAM! Then you push it around for a little bit kinda like the brute, except there's no slope to roll down. They did however leave you the crane. You pick it up again, and BAM!
Two fun and valid playstyles, two fun AT's. The brute is rolling cloud of destruction. The stalker is the precision assassin with a ST nuke. Up to you which you like better.

I love these analogies, and both SO true -
I'm also a LOTRO Founder/Lifer, and my husband and I are planning on getting 2 more lifetime subs. We would be ALL OVER a lifetime CoX subscription offering. One thing to consider is that even if someone has been playing for 4 years, they may never be able to drop 200+ bucks at one time for a subscription, so there will always be those who cannot actually afford a lifetime subscription even though they're spending more money in the long run.

If you look at the team window, at the top it says "pets", click on that.

I never said I ran it at high specs. My computer is 4 years old, I'm glad it can dual box AT ALL.
-
I dual box with a Pentium 4 2.6Ghz , 2GB of RAM and a GeForce 7600 >_>

On the same line, I can't find a list in the wiki of the Arachnos bases that actually give the Arachnos Agent badge. Right now the only one I know of is in Mercy. Is that info on the wiki somewhere that isn't linked?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's any Arachnos area that has non-hostile Arachnos in it.
Fort Darwin is one. The building behind Arbiter Richard is another. The building with the Science and Tech store in Cap Au, near Marshall Brass. The mini-fort where the Arbiter in Sharkhead and the Science and Tech stores are and the area around the Black Helicopter and Science store in the Double Down in St. Martial.

Thank you very much, and I already know you're going to say NPWSE which seems kind of odd to me since 'whatsoever' is one word, not three -

You need to let one load past the updater before you start a second one. I also suggest running in windowed mode, and add the "-maxinactivefps 5" flag to your target on the CoH shortcut (without quotes). You may need to turn down a lot of your graphics settings as well.
Keep in mind that you can't actually PLAY both at once. Only one window can have focus and accept input at a time. -
You won't find devs in here very often, this is the Player Questions - Players answering other players questions. You could try PMing Niviene but I'm pretty sure they don't release that information.
-
There isn't something like that available, just our best estimates.
Your best bet to convince your friends to try the game is give them trial accounts and take them on some fun missions -
