How is it that people think you can't play CoH from other countries? European servers aside, there are plenty of folks not in the US who play on the US servers....

They don't have the manpower to do it, they're not like EverQuest where they could delegate certain powers to volunteers who WERE able to do policing.

I don't feel it's my job to "police" people, and I don't go around petitioning every questionable character I see. And with my comic book knowledge I've seen a LOT of them.

But in the case of the toon linked in the OP? Yeah, I would have petitioned that one in a heartbeat.

Any blatant ripoff of a character like that I will petition. Obscure characters, or clever homages I tend to leave alone.

The name, appearance, and backstory are all lifted from Marvel. Being a musician who has been ripped off before, I do what I can to keep it from happening to others.

(The material I had ripped off wasn't anything you ever would have heard. Two members of my former band quit and formed another band, using songs that I had written before they joined mine in the first place. They went nowhere, so it didn't bother me that much. Had they gone on to win a Grammy with one of them, yes I would have sued their pants off, as I have date-marked, recorded proof that the songs existed prior to them being in the band)

I think that's a misconception. The GMs don't actively patrol looking for copyright violations. That's why we've been asked to do the policing. Simply put, the GMs likely won't notice, even if there's a petition by someone on a team with a violator and the GM -sees- them.

I looked real close at the forum reg dates on the folks in this thread, and Avani and I have the earliest dates. Reg date has absolutely ZERO RELEVANCE to vet rewards, and shouldn't even be brought up.

According to the difficulty, I shouldn't see AV's, but I came across Malaise who was classed as a "Hero." Should a downgraded hero show up as an elite boss? Could it have been a glitch? He gave me something on the order of 15k exp, but I did have patrol xp at the time.

That is easily the most blatant case of trademark infringement I have seen yet. They did a good job on the costume though.

Blatant attempts, "obvious" attempts at trying to get around the rules, or just plain offensive characters (usually relegated to racial slurs/racism/sexism, etc) are pretty much the only things I petition as well. Name, costume, bio... it doesn't matter to me. If any of those things crosses the line as I define it: petition fired.

I do this too. When it's obvious and smacks you in the face (the character named ***dumpster that was in the virtue d for a while. you bet your booty I petitioned at light speed) I will petition it. Obvious rip-offs get it. "homage" characters I'll think about before deciding whether or not to fire.

Each mob is worth X prestige.

If you're on a duo team with someone who is not in your SG, your prestige will be X/2.

If you're on a duo team with someone who IS in your SG, and you're both in SG mode, YOUR prestige will still be X/2, but the other person is also getting X/2 so you end up with X.

As long as other people in your SG are in SG mode, the prestige will roll in. If you're the only prestige earner, then it's better not to share

You'll actually get less prestige if you have multiple people (unless you are all in the same SG and all in SG mode) so soloing is the best way to get prestige. Take advantage of the monitor duty job as well, that gives a prestige bonus.

The detoggling would be annoying if had to walk through power supression to get to AE/went/blacks. IIRC going studio B cuts off toggle powers not just supress them.

I've seen the studio used for grief free costume contest zone as well. Was a great spot for that.

They didn't, Mizzer is mistaken.

-however- you can switch builds every 15 minutes, which recharges all your powers - including the mission teleporter.
