I don't know how to write a guide though =/ I didn't have enough room to add all the pleases I wanted to. I'll just cut it back to the first line, that'll probably be enough without being inflammatory.

Quote:Thanks. It's not an issue exactly, that is, I wasn't debating. It was about my "responsible reputation" line in my sig. One person said it was good advice, the other told me it would only bug people and to write a guide heh.I think the point is to make an effort to do more good things than bad things. Try to see issues from all sides instead of just your own, and worry less about defending yourself and pleasing other people, and more about doing what you feel is right.
I'll try to give less of a rip about random folks on the internet -

I know this is kind of an odd question, but how do you (generic) deal with people who give negative rep without signing their name?
Just today, for example, I had a positive reputation from someone who signed their name (thank you), and a negative reputation for THE EXACT SAME THING, with no name.
It bothers me because I feel like it's an attack I can't defend against.
How should I deal with it? Ignore it entirely? Change what they didn't like so I don't get further negative rep? Do what they suggest in hopes they will come back and give me positive rep? -

At this time, it can't be changed unless it's offensive or copyrighted.

Publish just means they pushed a new patch to the live servers. it has nothing to do specifically with issue release.

Dangit, it was a Grail-shaped beacon after all!

fun fact, not everyone that is online is actually gaining XP, so you can take that snotty little attitude and shove it
if you really want to get down to it, since I don't have college to worry about anymore, I'm lucky if it takes my characters 100 hours to get to 50 since CoV came out.My first 50 took 2 1/2 years because of all the time I spent roleplaying

I never thought I'd say this, but tl;dr.
I read the first paragraph, and skimmed the rest.
I'm not sure where you got the idea that veteran gamers are afraid to talk about gaming not being the speed or ease of playing. The common battle cries on the forum are "The game starts at level 1" and "It's the journey, not the destination."
Sorry, I just can't slog through the rest of it. I'm not really sure what you're trying to say except that in YOUR opinion, gaming is etc, etc, etc.
PS. Some folks like to solo, that's what's fun for them.
PPS. Some folks like to grind, that's what's fun for them.
PPPS. Some folks like to play the market game, that's what's fun for them.
So, bottom line:
Play the game how it is fun for (generic) YOU, but try to remember it's the journey, and pay it forward when you can. -

Quote:I suggested a load-screen tip of directing players to this forum, but I don't think they put it inNo problem at all. If I have information that will help I am happy to share it.
I just wish I'd found the forums sooner myself instead of fumbling with unfamiliar stuff for the first few months...... -

All the .. pretty colors *sniff*
Now time will tell if this is the real thing, or if Zoot's been lighting the Grail-shaped beacon again. -
True vets will totally ignore the AE whining and stay because they know the rest of the game is awesome, the devs are awesome, and the playerbase is awesome. People leave games because they find a new game to play, not because of some aspect of the game (that can be ignored) isn't to their liking.
People were supposed to quit because of CoV. People were supposed to quit because of ED. People were supposed to quit because of Villain Epics.
I'm still here, and so is everyone else who loves this game and what we get out of it. -
Quote:The tiny down arrow next to the thread title. In the old forum, I'd click on a topic and be automatically brought to the first new post that I haven't read yet. I miss that VERY MUCH! Is there anything here that's equivalent?
Quote:Also, the old forum had a link to the main site at the top of the screen. From what I can see, once you enter the forums, there's nothing to take you out of them again. -
I have to agree here. I did a count of all my characters on Virtue and sorted them out, and I ended up with 19 scrappers. My next highest AT is controller with 9. I think I need to make another scrapper to make it an even number!

I think it's nutty and try to stay away from the market game myself. I use it to quickly get rid of salvage and recipes, and that's about it. If there's something I must have, I bid low and wait. Eventually I will get what I want.

Quote:This is true. What IS the difference betwen farming and grinding? Not trying to defend farming, but sometimes farming isn't really farming it is just grinding, seriously what is the difference between doing the same map full of a certain enemy type and running level 50 invinc/relent mishes, I like the mishes for the mish bonus xp and drops.

Quote:Thank you so much for the link. I never thought about binding it like that!I did extensive testing with this to see if I cold finagle the chat save file to keep the custom colors and this is exactly what I found: That the last global I joined went to the top of the list in that file and whenever I zoned, only that channel kept its value, all the rest of the globals had their colors reset. I don't think that that default file is even read upon first logging in as it's supposed to be.
Since the chat file does keep a record of the colors you set reloading it will reset it to the colors you want, so, you can use this workaround. -
Quote:If you have a complaint with customer service, you need to contact them yourself, just like any other business.Willy Nilly? On five different occasions I was asked for Various differing pieces of "proof" some were crazy like my activation code on the game that I originally purchased. Yeah, that box is LONG GONE. Or my last 4 digits of the credit card that was used to pay for the startup...again, LONG GONE and also...not sure I'd give that info if I had it.
The point was, they weren't helpful, or providing any useful suggestions that were in the realm of reason.
I'll note there was NEVER any problem w/ the NCSoft taking my money, or logging into the game itself. Oh, and they would update my e-mail on that side of things to ensure I knew my account expired so I could renew it. ::rollseyes::
Mainly I'm posting this in the OFF chance a mod sees it and forwards it to Customer Service to let 'em know how thoroughly UNacceptable I felt their level of assistance was. Apparently was pretty simple to make it possible for me to login again.

However, those checks are their for your protection. What if someone could get your password just by knowing your login name and name? They ask for the codes because of the people who sell/steal accounts. A secondary user is not likely to be able to turn those codes up.
Instead of looking at it negatively, consider it a lesson learned. Save all your codes, always.
I had to go through three days of my accounts being mistakenly banned because of an error on NCSoft's part, and I had to come up with as many codes as I could that I had ever used on the accounts, that includes expansions. I had to give them the credit card used, my address when I signed up, my ORIGINAL CODE from my master account activation, the email that I was using, and a couple of other things. I signed up in '04, so this is information from five years ago!
Was it frustrating? Heck yes it was, but they came through for me in the end, and I learned never to throw away another code. I save them and write down which account they were applied to just in case something like this happens again. -
Quote:The only one that stays the same color for me is the one I joined most recently. All the rest change to various shades of "light green blue" and make it hard to tell which is which. I'm clicking "load chat options" every time I zone heheYou know, people keep complaining about that, maybe I'm the chosen one but it has never happened to me all my global channels have stayed the color I changed them to, only thing that messes them up is a new issue, but that's like once ever 3-6 months so I don't mind.
