Remember that Deviant Art isn't the land of Milk and Honey everyone seems to think it is. There are potential copywrite issues that may arise from having NCSoft associate itself with DA to store fanart. Thusly, instead of trying to work out some weird deal and bring out the lawyers, they probably just skipped that step altogether and went with a site they can work more closely with.

That doesn't mean that DA isn't the best choice for all of you, just that it's not the best choice for NCSoft.

My opinions are perhaps a bit different than most, but I'd say don't assume anything about your target. Saying "I feel like it'd be a good experience" isn't valid, because you have no clue what the artist may or may not like. Taking the immediate stance on your character that he's 'perfect' is also not something advisable. The object here is to get someone to become interested in doing art for you, not become insulted and completely ignore your post. There's no room for pride when you're groveling for art.

Everyone has different opinions on things. Instead of saying he's perfect, just say "He's very close to my heart" or "I like my character very much" because that's a personal opinion. It's not trying to state a fact. I for one, think that he's got way too much black in his outfit and the magic border pattern and cape just don't make sense at all. So when I hear that, I immediately feel like what you want doesn't match up with what I want. Which would lead to me not doing art for you. Also, changing the wording of the 'email me' part would help. The artist shouldn't have to come to you, you should go to them.

A better post would turn the speech inwards and focus on your own feelings.

"Would you please consider drawing my toon? I really enjoy him and he means a lot to me. I always wondered what he would look like drawn out, but I am still having trouble getting it myself.

There are many an art leech around these parts. And it's really in bad form to do such towards people who give so freely of themselves everyday. It really makes me sick what I see sometimes and I can't hold my tongue about it.

If you want art, ask very nicely and be patient or stop being a cheap [censored] and spend the [censored] money. I'm flat broke and even I either trade or scrounge up the money to pay for the art I get. There's no excuse for selfishness.

Nah, actually the standard NN outfit has that cool Dia De Los Muertos skeleton look going for it and sometimes a healthy glow of color. That one I enjoy.

But since this is a brand new outfit, we can experiment.

City of Data already has stats on the Apprentice Charm. It's 3.25% resistance debuff, 3.75% for Trollers, Khelds, Doms, Corrs, and MMs, and finally 5% for Defenders. It's also unresistable, but the effects don't stack from a single player.

I was really amazed at the quality of the convention sketch, Gill. It looks damn near an inked pencil, more than a marker sketch. You even managed to work in her three part bangs and long (sideburns/bangs/hair falls?) Either way, thanks for doing such a sweet job on it. As someone who rarely gets art, it's an immense treat to get something from such a skilled artist.
