Turning off everything and doing some breathing exercises generally helps. It's amazing the amount of distraction the daily electronics can generate.
Seriously, in this economy it's not worth it to go to work tired or wound up. >.< -
My Dominator can take aggro from a taunting ice Tanker, then die and take aggro again when rezzed due to mob memory. Doesn't have anything to do with the discussion of tanking at hand.
Traps Corrs can alpha tank very well. They're almost meant for it. They cannot control aggro the way a proper Tanker AT can. That's what makes a 'real tank' valuable in the game. Otherwise, any AT can alpha tank with the right build and powers. -
Morbid is just butthurt because I'm using strategy against a larger force. There's a fact that the Scrappers are organized and using as many accounts as they can to vote progressively to spike one AT at a time. That's smart.
On the other hand, if the Tanks and the Defenders turn this into a two way battle, then it makes the game much harder for Scrappers to win. The combined force of both Tanker and Defenders working together could easily destroy the Scrappers once and for all. Then it'll be a clear fight between the remaining two. -
If you don't take from Scrappers, they'll defeat you this year instead.
-
If we can get rid of Scrappers, then it'll be back to basics and Defs and Tanks can fight it out in peace. Get the scrappers, it'll be a two way fight!
-
Scrappers are the single biggest threat to you right now. They have an organized force amassed. You'd be best off taking from them, so that it comes down to Tanks vs Defs

Quote:No, you're right. Those screens are dark and difficult to make out anything in. The costume is just simple and people are being nice.I guess that's that, then.
The pictures are fine and my screen is just dark
still think that using a light background would make the character stand out more, though..
For anyone who doesn't know, the best way to take reference pictures is to go into the tailor screen and hit print screen. Your screenshot will not be turned into a jpeg and stored in the screenshots folder, but it will be copied to the clipboard. Paste that picture via ctrl-V into an image program and you can save it that way. If you want to get fancy, you can then do turnarounds like this:

That's exactly what I've been saying the whole time. Someone just wanted to fight about a smaller detail.

People are too busy soloing with little danger to themselves, than working in a team, filling two roles with nerfed values for both. (Read: People like the overpowered BS of solo heroes more, so it's a lost cause.)

More than anything I am happy that people are actually talking about what's on their minds. It's very obvious that there's more than one common viewpoint at play here. Methinks that the split in opinions on the nature of this forum is wider than commonly believed.

None of this applies to Sorah, since she's taken the most graceful response to this that one can possibly. Chalk it up to a difference of opinion which won't change and thusly doesn't need to be argued about. That makes me respect her more as a person.
Funny enough, I got equal parts good and bad rep from my comments on this subject. That's one of the only reasons I think I like the system, because it lets someone 'vote' anonymously and thusly be more truthful about what they're really feeling.
I'm vocal on money value, because like many other people here on the forums, I have very little money to afford such things for myself. I would likely have as large a gallery as Buckeyestar, Katfood or Rowr, if I only had the cash to back it up. So price is a very large issue to me and high prices mean cutting off access completely to an otherwise willing customer. This month is my bday and I actually have more cash to toss around than normal, so I'm actively looking for places to spend it. But sticker shock has set in here.
I also have issues with high prices and art in general, being an artist myself. Art is a wonderful thing. Beauty captured on the canvas, emotion conveyed to an audience, experiences taught through the material. You can't put a price tag on it, as it has none. The 'price' of it is entirely negotiable because it has independent value to everyone who views it. Generally in the business, you're paying for the artist themselves as a laborer, rather than the finished piece and that's where things go awry at times. When I pay for art, I'm paying for the finished product. Much like how I expect a well built house when I pay a master architect to design one for me. No matter how good someone might be, if I get less that what I paid for, I got gypped.
Too many artists out there think that due to popularity or tenure, that their stuff is worth more than it actually is. I've seen all too many cases where two different artists had approximately equal skill and one was 'professional' and charged nearly 4 times the amount the other did. Nothing about the art was better, only the 'big name' that came with it was the difference. They'll usually defend themselves with the line "You're not paying for the hour of work I did on this picture, you're paying for the 12 years of work I did before that."
B*******.
I'm paying for a product and years of experience helps you create that product, faster, better and more easily than someone else. The consistency and the quality of your average work is *why* I come to you instead of someone else. That's the benefit you enjoy as someone of experience and skill. The burden isn't on me as a customer to pay exorbitant fees for the 'honor' of having your time. Unfortunately, that's a hole that more popular artists fall into quite often. Too many yes-men surrounding you would make anyone's ego inflated.
This board has far too many yes-men on it. People greedily sucking on the fringes of their social barriers hoping that they'll enjoy some artist's scraps for the price of being a constant suck up. Nobody wants to 'break the ice' for fear of being ostracized and denied those artist scraps forevermore. But there's a reality that exists unstated here, where people are taken aback at what they see and internal dialogs run through their heads that echo what I say out loud. The commentary from the forum rep feedback proves that to me. So I take it upon myself to 'break the ice' because no-one else will. I might be 'punished' for such behavior socially, but the message is stated and once it's set into place, other people can follow without fear of repercussions. I am a hate tank and I keep my team of 'common sense' safe because nobody else has the defenses to do it and survive.
It's pretty easy to chalk it up to me being an antisocial deviant who constantly needs to seek attention by lashing out. That may very well be true. But I don't need love or attention on myself. I need people to talk about the things they always bite their tongue on. The things that everyone looks at and rolls their eyes and yet doesn't speak out on. The elephant in the room is plain for everyone to see.
I won't post anymore in this thread, simply because I've already stated my intentions and reasoning. Further posting would simply be threadcrapping Sorah's advertisement. I posted my opinions on the matter and that's it. Everyone else can vote with their wallets. -
Well, the right price is whatever people will pay. That's the law of capitalism. In a closed market, you have a lot of power over the audience to charge what you will. In an open market when you have to compete against lots of other providers, the game changes and you have to adapt to the situation.
I'm not being nasty, although since you don't hang around here very often you'll likely take it as such. I speak my mind as an un-interrupted flow of thought since I don't care about playing the social game of popularity with strangers. The facts of the matter are you're *really* good. Better than most everyone here in the art forums. But to me, you're not [blank] dollars good.
For just a pencil sketch, with no ink, no color, little background, limited characters, I'd expect a lot more out of it than strange centers of gravity, flawed perspective and shortcutted lines. You make the same mistakes that other amateur artists do, albeit with a polish that comes from repetition and confidence. I would pay you more than I would pay some other artists here on the forums, but certainly not what you want to charge. There's other people who are just as skilled who are providing more for less and I cannot in good faith ignore that in my assessment.
My opinion is an extreme one, because I have a pet peeve with the combination of artists, popularity and money. So it's unlikely that everyone feels the way I do. But that's my opinion and I stand by it, regardless of what price I pay for having it. -
If those are "sale" prices, then count me out. There's a certain level of inherent cost scaling with talent, but good lord. I could easily get 2-3 other commissions from people just as talented for that price. >.<

Quote:Oh, we don't get along with everyone, but that's why we just kick the interlopers out. Well, in fairness it's more like we piss them off so badly that they don't ever want to come back. We are after all, powergaming elitist know-it-all pricks. :3If you found such a group and everyone gets along consider yourself lucky Suichiro.
But I love my group more than anything, so it works out quite well. They match me in oh so many ways. -
I went to the 'first' HeroCon when it was just a meet-and-greet and while it was fun, there's NO ******* WAY I'm spending money on attending, let alone 80 dollars on it. Screw that. Just cause it's local to me doesn't make it a must go. >.<

Damn. I never even got to see the Nadya pic, even if it wasn't correct. :<

Yeah, I was just going to post Mako mysef, actually.
Gideon Ray is a mutant, born with shark-like gills and teeth. He was born in Paragon City, where his parents could not cope with his extreme mutation and abandoned him to the city orphanage. As he grew, his mutation continued to alter his appearance, exacerbating his isolation, and the other children tormented him for his freakish appearance. -
Westin Phipps is generally considered the most evil of all the NPCs in CoX, though not perhaps in the way you're searching for.

To quote the sage, Adam Savage: "Well THERE'S your problem!"
Your experiences have been with some of the hardest combinations of powersets and has completely jaded your view on corruptors as an AT. Corrs aren't the best at everything, but they're certainly one of the best balanced classes on villside. Roll a Fire/Dark corruptor and see how that performs at level 6 compared to the hero side blaster of the same level. They're light years apart. -
Defender Fort is 18.75% to-hit, which when slotted gets to 29% to-hit. Fort can be kept on four people at once, permanently. A defender can get Fort at level 12.
WoP is a 10% to-hit buff, which when slotted gets to 15.6% to-hit. WoP can be kept on the team permanently but requires Hasten to do so. A corruptor can get WoP at level 28. WoP is also coded to ignore buffs like Power Boost.
Anguishing Cry is only up once every 120 seconds, slotted 60 seconds. Anguishing Cry can miss.
They're just not equal in performance for accuracy bonuses. That's completely ignoring the other benefits it has and judging entirely on a direct basis. The two powers combined of Pain aren't enough to surpass the one power of Emp for To-Hit buffing.
Even if you want to judge based on Controller values, they still get Fort 8 levels earlier, it's stronger at base and stronger when slotted (23%) and is independent of team positioning or accuracy to apply it's buff. It also responds well to Power Boost which WoP does not.
Pain is a good set for what it does, but it's just not a match for Emp. -
The area where her abdominal muscles are showing is too bold. The rest of her body isn't that muscular, so the sudden shelf of rock hard ab makes it look like she's wearing body armor. Her feet aren't on the same plane of perspective at all, with her camera left foot being pointed downwards as if the horizon was higher and her camera right foot being planted perfectly sideways, as if the horizon level was flush with her heel.
Her camera left knee should be pointed farther out since her foot is also pointed outwards. If you tried to stand like that yourself, you'd find it very difficult to get your knee and your foot to be so varied in orientation. It's not a natural position. For her camera left hand, the folds indicate that her thumb is behind her index finger, but also behind her wrist. The smoothness of the curve from the thumb to the wrist is too gentle to cause a fold like that, so the best thing would be to remove that wrist line entirely. Her sword is currently disappearing into thin air as it goes behind her.
Since you've established highlighting on her hair already, the hair behind her shouldn't have any highlights at all, when it's in a shadowed area. It makes her hair look shiny compared to the rest of it on her head. Her hip area should be a tad longer, as she doesn't have enough room in her lower torso to make up the difference of her height from her legs. So her body looks squashed when judged against her legs and head.
