  1. If the Emapth has to defend himself, the rest of the team will get aggro from him for not doing their job right!
  2. @Shift & Larac - thanks for clearing up my 'D3' confusion

    oh, and spot on with:

    Dark Embrace

...that was one of the reasons my BS/DA scrapper went the way of the dodo.
  3. Yeah, I agree - it would make Empathy more interesting/challenging to play; just don't make it like WoW... whenever I healed anything with my priest in WoW, it was like every single mob turned round and shouted "get the dude in the dress!"...in a PuG in the Deadmines, healing anything was a death sentence.
  4. according to the i10 Comic Guide it will take 60-100 heroes to take one down.

    On Defiant?

    um.

(but I'll try and turn up )

  7. ah but it's not just some bloke - she's wearing the costume, and if someone with a camera were there then "Supergirl is Real" would be worldwide news; would Megan ever be able to shake off the Supergirl name?

...all by-the-by and just an idle thought, please carry on Catz.
  8. Really enjoying this, Catz

(I can't help wondering what DC's reaction to a real superhero using one of their trademarks would be.. would they sue? Would they try to sponsor? )

  10. I /bug'd this one a few days ago, I don't know if it's been fixed in i9:

The description for the Robust insp. says it "protects the you".

Well, I did some artwork tonight.
    I hope you like it!

    Very Gilbert & George!
  12. Very Nice!

It's got some problems with the anatomy (mainly the proportions of legs & arms), but the face & head and the whole rendering style of the piece are really attractive!

I made Storm/Archery defender and love it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

eep I tried that once; think I got all the way to level 3 before deletion as the constant putting-the-bow-away-getting-it-out-again *really* got on my nerves, shame really I liked the concept.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
indeed, the only way to make screenshots from the costume editor is to [Print Screen] and paste it in Paint or some such.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tend to find that the pasted image looks too dark because the in-game gamma setting isn't applied to the screen shot; so if it happens to you, try playing with the brightness slightly.
  18. hmmm that'll be the game that PCZone gave 45% this month?

    You'll be back

    Have fun either way

Then I got artist blocked... for three years.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Quick side note.
Artist block is, I believe, one of the most important part of an artist's evolution. It's through this very moment - no matter the length of time - that one looks back at all he/she has achieved until then and analyses subconsciously their skills and where they are heading. So as frustrating as it is, it's necessary and positive.
    Just thought I'd share that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Augery, looking at your stuff, I don't really think you have much of a problem; you obviously have talent and that's most of the battle, everything else is technique & craft, which is the stuff you learn through practise.

Art schools can teach technique and give you different persectives, but if like me you hate just looking and drawing stuff 'for the sake of it' (rather than with any sense of purpose, research etc) then they can rub you up the wrong way. The trick of course is creating a purpose, finding something there that interests you, or can be useful... I was never terribly good at that, still life *still* bores me.

I'd say life drawing is the exception to this rule, but I've banged that particular drum here before, and ended up in a flame war with someone who believed everything you need is contained in a particular book from Marvel..

I have 'talent' (at least, I *used* to), what I lack is enthusiasm; I've let my naturally lazy tendences overwhelm me to the point where my 'block' is currently totalling 8 years and rising - so thanks for the positve spin on that Swissy, that actually made me feel a little better.

As far as programs go: Painter>Photoshop>Gimp>MSpaint

    [/ QUOTE ]

I haven't tried Gimp being lucky enough to have access to the other two, but Art Rage really should be in that list - it's a very small program, it's not trying to be Painter or Photoshop, but has some nice features (the devs are ex- painter devs) and a cute UI. The only thing I really dislike about it is it forces a light source on the canvas (which looks fine on the paints, but annoying on plain pencil work).

I got it as a budget alternative to Alias Sketchbook, which has the best digital pencil bar none, but is annoyingly expensive for what it offers.

    Mini thread necromancy and hyjacking

I'd love to try my hand at adding digital colour to some of my horrible scribbles, does anyone know any good, easy to use and preferably cheap software to do with (I don't think MSPaint will quite cut it ) and is doing so an exercise in futility without at least a basic tablet?

Oh, I've seen an A4 trust scroll table for about £50, is this work getting as a practice piece before moving up to the much more expensive wavcom ones?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've been away, so forgive my late response, but someone might find it useful.

Tablets.. I've used a few and I'd have to say save for the £60 A6 Wacom (amazon price) rather than pay less for another brand (even if it's bigger), nothing matches a wacom. (Especailly avoid the type with a battery in the pen - urgh)

Cheap software - again, dunno if this has been posted, but this is a really nice program for those with very little budget: Art Rage 2 ... there's a free cut-down version for those with NO budget.
