  1. Running Seraph through the Rogue Isles would be interesting. They got some of the better Circle of Thorns arches, the villains do
  2. Aren't you like awarded 100 inf for completing your first mission once out of outbreak? xD
  3. I myself like art. I think it's an important talent for one to have. Because no two art styles are completely identical, it has a good way of reflecting an artist's personality and personal beliefs.

Well, it is really nice layout. Too bad it doesn't recognize that I have a video card and hence cant update drivers for it. Manually or with Windows Update. Device manager doesn't even show any video in there.

The error message that I get everytime is something like "Could not find a device to match these drivers" or some such.

What I've tried: Win7 64 and 32 bit (couple times), flashed bio's, updated chipset drivers, newest nvidia drivers, older nvidia drivers, changed compatibility mode where appropriate, removed vid card and reset cmos.

Posting this from my main comp, so don't have a cohhelper log right now. But basic spec's:

    AMD Athalon 3500+
    1gig ram
    XFX 6800XT
    ASUS Barebone V2 AE-1

I had seen a few pages back that someone had it running on slightly less specs. Guess mine is just gimp or something....

Anyway, if someone has a nifty little trick for this, that would be cool. But if not, I'll just send in my report and reload XP....

[/ QUOTE ]Its possible they drop support for your card. I know that happened to me when vista first came out. I had to find haxed drivers for my video card and motherboard. They worked for a while then I started getting heat problems on th card so I upgraded.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Why in the world would they drop support for a card that exceeds the requirements for running the OS? I had no problems finding drivers for my 6600GT.

6series are outdated. What with the 9s and 280s. 7s are the new lows. It's not surprising. Technology moves on. Plus Doesn't Microsoft 7, or wont it, support Direct X11?
  5. Well isn't running a 7series at that big of a resolution kind of too much? I mean, that's pretty big resolution for third generation vid cards... (or fourth if counting the GX-280 series)
  6. Ahhh they're going to improve service, sweet. Dawn of a new age it seems
  7. Ahhh. Well maybe that's the culprit.
  8. Never use windows update for graphics drivers but that being said the beta drivers maybe worth a shot ya never know.
  9. Odd. Maybe it's the ATI drivers? o.O

How many are checking this out on 64-bit?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If there's a way to upgrade my Vista 32bit (which I feel I was a victim of false advertising and don't want to spend a hundred or so more to fix it right now) I'll probably upgrade to 7-64 towards release :3

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless something's changed, I *think* your license for vista-32bit automatically makes you legal for vista-64bit as well. You should be able to call MS up and get vista-64 for no more than shipping costs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah the box I got at Best Buy said it contained 32/64bit information. The instructions said call and request 64bit since the CD was 32bit only (according to it's face) called support and the dude tried to sell me BS saying that I had to buy the 64bit box and yada yada... so yeah -_-

[/ QUOTE ]Why would you want to do an upgrade instead of a clean install? Dont you know upgrading is dirty and could possibly lead to problems later on? Yes windows 7 supports going from 32-bit to 64-bit from what I read but I still wouldnt do it. I would do a clean install regardless. Clean install is the best way to install windows always unless you are just installing it just long enough to retrieve data.

Guess I just don't want to format but come this August I probably will anyways. -shrugs-

  12. Yeah kind of funny that too. AVG was such an awesome system Microsoft wanted it :P I mean for a free Antivirus program when it was launched, it did exceptionally well.

But on a seriousness note, CoX always had problems with ATI. It maybe possible W7 is amplifying the affect. But it's only one of many culprits.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have been using Nvidia cards until the ATI 4000 came out. Did CoX have "white-outs" with the ATI drivers? In Win 7, all the colors seem white.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could be anything really that the OS is having a fit over. Onboard nvidia drivers maybe conflicting that the OS is not reading properly? Don't really know.

But when many of the features that are coming in Windows 7 were promised for Vista years ago one can only assume that Windows 7 will finally be the OS they -wanted- Vista to be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well I don't doubt them wanting to have achieved something else other than what vista delivered. That much we can definitely agree on. I think they intended differently for Vista but didn't get what they thought they would achieve and so work into a better product started.

But I don't work for Microsoft so I don't know what they were thinking. I like Vista but I can agree that it needs lot of work and it appears Microsoft 7 is going to be just that.
  15. [ QUOTE ]

The point was that as their work grinded on they started realizing their goal (what will now become Windows 7) was so far in the future that they decided to throw Vista at us as a stopgap meaure knowing full well that it wasn't really what they had in mind. Remember that many of the features we are finally getting in Window 7 were originally advertised for Vista years ago.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't help but disagree. Sure Microsoft isn't as user friendly as they come across but releasing Vista just to stall the community so they could make a finished product, is a bit on the extreme side of paranoia for the programming industry. I still see it as them realizing their "something different" product wasn't delivering what they originally intended and so made their way onto a product, a hybrid version of the original, that would hopefully correct what they were seeing Vista doing wrong.

Vista always was a gamble because you weren't taking a IP from anything else before hand and tweaking it. Sort of like XP to ME, not exactly the same but they both shared similarities. Vista had no predecessor and so in delivering something different, Microsoft was taking a chance. Judging by how the users reacted to this new product, was what I feel encouraged the "revamp".

They call that an "Upgrade edition," and they've always had them.

You won't be getting that from going from beta to final, though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No but what I mean is I have Vista Premium so if I could get a Microsoft 7 for an upgrade that would be sweet.... Buuuut I have 32bit unfortunately and still doubt I'd be able to upgrade to 7 64-bit =/

Sorry I tend to be off in my own little worlds sometimes

So what happens exactly when release comes out? We spend a couple hundred (for a CD Key) or do we get to keep their CDs and require an update upon release? Also, according to Sun they send CDs... so does this mean I can get a 64-bit version?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Um...

It's a beta. The beta expires August 30. The code will change between beta and release.

Yes, you'll have to actually buy the OS when it's released.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well hopefully they wont charge $200 and allow Vista to get strait to 7 for a low price. Much like going from Vista Basic to Vista Home Premium but August still long ways away.

[/ QUOTE ]As the others have said you will have to buy the full version. Fear not on the price of the newer OS I will be on the look out for any free deals and I will let you guys know what I find. If worse comes to worse you just buy an upgrade edition. If its anything like the vista upgrade then it is entirely possible to do a full install with the upgrade key.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And considering it's virtually the same OS... I don't see it impossible to see an upgrade edition from Vista to 7. But who knows already am I smelling scam due to the fact they're the same and we'll be paying anyways upgrade or not >_<

  21. -sighs- well rolling back to 174.xx didn't solve anything, gave me more time that's about it. I might run by Best Buy tomorrow and pick up a PSU if they have any to test. Otherwise saving up for yet another new motherboard and CPU.
  22. -sighs- my computer loves disappointing me. It just crashed after about two hours. So yeah going to try the 174.xx drivers listed on the first page.

How do I go about physx drivers? Should I uninstall and driver sweet those as well? If so how do I go about getting them or just leave it off my comp for right now?
  23. yeah I've been able to sit here in Grandville for an hour and still going, alt tabbing, dunno if that's any help but it's going just fine. Otherwise guess I'm searching for a AMD CPU/Mobo-nvidia or none vid drivers as a back up in case if by purchasing a powersupply; doesn't solve it.
  24. -sighs- this is so frustrating. Alright well thanks for baring with me. Could you post a link maybe to your 9x card's list of driver recommendations incase 174.74s don't work?
