Honestly, it would pretty much have to be the same as unlocking an "old" AT. For anyone new to the game, there would be no difference between the MM AT and Theoretical AT X. If it costs 12 bucks to unlock the MM AT and all (or most of) its powersets, than other ATs would have to be at least similar to that.

Quote:I know this is water under the bridge, but with the new system coming online, I want to once again attempt to make the argument for more rational pricing for this one feature. Currently, this feature is implemented so that people can move a character to a new server to be with friends or to move an old toon people do not want to delete to a less used server to make room on their "primary" server for a new character. For that use, the price point listed is reasonable (I think high, but reasonable).800......$10.00......................Character Server Transfer Token
However, this could be so much more. Since it feels like cross-server teaming is Sadly a long way off (not even on a production schedule?), this could be used to solve the primary reason for cross-server teaming.
Maybe I am near unique, but I know several of my friends have the same situation. Characters strewn across 3, 4, or sometimes more servers. Sometimes I log-in and really want to play character X on server P, but my friends want to play on server G. Sometimes I log-in just to fool around and wait to see what is going on; I may see a team forming in one of my globals to run a TF/trial on server P, but I really want to do that TF/trial with a character on server G. Maybe I have joined a team for a TF on server L, but the team really wants buff/debuff, while I would love to switch to one of my buff/debuff toons, I do not have any on server L.
If you make server transfers cost 10 bucks, I will never buy one.
If you make server transfers cost 5 bucks, I may buy one or two a year.
If you make server transfers cost 1 dollar, I will buy 1 every 6 weeks or so.
If you make server transfers cost $0.50, I will buy 4 or 5 a month.
If you make server transfers cost $0.25, I will use them like candy, especially if that 25 cents is 20 PPs.
I think more money can be made at the lower price point, on top of more convenience for the players. It looks like a win-win to me. -
Quote:I think if you want you can either head to the Beta threads or you can post to the most recent patch notes thread in the test forum.is there a thread that discusses the final cost of Astral and Emp purchasables?
All I know is, 50% up-time, unkillable, AoE, -30% to hit debuff with a good range debuff, plus some decent healing HERE I COME! -
I thought blasters might be one of the locked ATs, since they have a bit of a learning curve.
-
IMO, that would be a mistake. You do not need to do anything to cater to the weaker members, you let that be a social decision. You create content for the incarnates. Only level 50s or only Incarnates could get the missions, but if they want to form a team of themselves and 7 level 30s, so be it. If they can't handle it because it has too many characters that are not incarnate, people will learn on their own to normally bring 50s/incarnates, but also allow for bringing a few others who are not incarnate along. If they can handle it because they are great players or have a good AT mix, that is fine as well.
-
Outside of things that make me unable to team with them, I too will stick with players. When I can't team with them, it will be players who haven't bought this part yet.

Quote:I am all for a new Shield stance. I'll pay up to 100 PPs for it!Personally, what I really want to do is have a running animation where the shield is held out in front, as if yo ram people with it while the weapon is held behind and pointing UP (as opposed to the back and down orientation of Ninja Run). I'll see if I can't get a screenshot from the source material that inspired me to want this again.

The forums can be a dangerous place. Sometimes its best just to read the dev digest, especially if you are feeling squeamish. I think you will find that several months from now you will be a very happy VIP player.
-
Mmmm. OK. I can see that distinction being something that matters (if what you say is true across the board and not just coincidental in this one case we know about).

Quote:This seems kind of odd. One of the features being touted for Paragon Rewards is the fact that we get to choose how to use them. Why also build into the system rigid rewards that Paragon chooses instead of us?However, the Paragon Rewards program has an unlock for Masterminds and Controllers at Tier 5 (which is about a three-year CoH veteran status). So if you have enough veteran status at the launch of City of Heroes Freedom, you will be able to play these restricted archetypes on a Premium account on day one. As always, we'll be chatting more about the Paragon Rewards in the coming weeks.
Maybe I hate pet classes. I was told I would choose the stuffs I get for my Paragon Rewards. Now I learn that I can mostly choose, but some stuff is still chosen for me. Since I foresee myself remaining a subscriber, this is not an issue for me, but it does feel kind of odd. -
Quote:Why do so many of these examples always make the product unusable? It is not like they found out it doesn't have wheels anymore. It is like they found out it doesn't have a radio/CD player. It is like they found out it had no air conditioning. It might go so far as to be like they found out it was a manual instead of automatic. Now I could be really, really wrong, but I think a lot of Premium/historic players are looking at it like this:
Buying City of Heroes is like buying a car. You've got it, it's yours. You can't do anything with it unless you put gas in it--pay your monthly sub. They upgrade and modify the car in all sorts of ways, City of Villains, Going Rogue, various perks, etc. They may quit and rejoin, periodically--but always with the understanding that once they put some gas in the car, they can go wherever they want to go.
And in the whole MM controversy, it's like someone told them, "Here, have free gas! Forever!" And when they get in the car, they find it doesn't have any wheels anymore.
The crux of the issue is explaining the sacrifices/cost of going Premium instead of VIP, as well as recognizing that you're/we're not going to make everybody happy. I'm not saying anyone is wrong or right, I'm just trying to encourage respectful dialogue while waiting for more information.
The car still works fine and you get your free gas and can drive around. -
Since he included the phrase, "when I transition to VIP," it is quite obvious they intend to raise the subscription fee the month before Freedom launches...
-
Quote:Indeed. Zwillinger stated in the Off the Cape podcast that there is currently no plan to offer a lifetime subscription and he felt it was highly unlikely in the near future. Now, on CoH, of course, I've already got so much stuff that would be considered VIP that I would need to stay VIP upon the startup of CoH Freedom to continue enjoying the game as I used to, so if CoH offers a lifetime subscription at around the same price, I'd take it for sure.

Quote:Supergroups and Bases would be a good place to start on that cross-server tech! No need to transfer your base or SG, because your SG membership and access to your SG base is available no matter which server you make a character on.Supergroup Transfers (Including bases)
This is something we anticipated and are actively working on, but it likely wont be ready for City of Heroes Freedoms launch. We are committing to bringing you this service in the future and it wont be just to the VIP server, it will be between any server. It will likely require the Supergroups Super Leader to actually execute the transfer.
The fairies said so... -
If that option ever became available, it ought to cost money. Otherwise, it is giving away one of the benefits of being a subscriber.
-
I don't want to exclude anyone. You are the one who wants to exclude people who use Facebook.
-
Why shouldn't they use Facebook in addition to the forums? Why shouldn't they do a podcast in addition to the forums? they have been using the forums all week long. They will continue to use the forums.
-
Quote:While I do not use Facebook, I am gonna go out on a limb and guess that a lot of people do. Since they have their own forums, should they never go to conventions? Should they never use TV? Should they avoid talking to game sites like Massively? You have your own forums, and many people want nothing to do with facebook
I want them to use as many resources to communicate as they can reasonably afford, even if they use some I do not personally look at. -
I do not think Notices belong, but if they do, then so do the other Alpha slot components that TFs drop and the components that drop in the trials (or can be crafted with threads). It might be best just to have a category called Incarnate Components which would include Notices, the Alpha components, and the trial components.

Which is less time than I would have expected, but, honestly, I am glad. While I know very few people who do not already own GR, I will much prefer having more people who can access Praetoria and the trials.
