Quote:All true, ego-tripping is not confined to meleers, sometimes I get bummed about KB on my rangers too, especially my Fire/Fire/Force blaster, they always seem to use KB right as I use Rain of Fire.My Corrs who come equipped with AoEs hate KB as well.
KB is ego tripping.
KB is people having "fun" where they get to feel powerful blasting stuff across the room whether it makes sense to or not.If only they would just stand and admire my beauty and the devastation I will cause to our enemies. Damn those other players for wanting to use their powers too!
Sure, their attacks cause damage and add control, but MINE are so much more productive! How can they not understand? Why do they think they should be able to play too? -
Quote:It will be interesting. Regen does much better when combined with attack sets that provide mitigation (Swords, Claws, KM, DM). Most brute attack sets provide reasonable mitigation. Using KD, KB, stuns, mezzes, etc. magnifies what Regen brings pretty well.Brutes are an AT, that I feel, do best fighting large groups.
WP is certainly easier to use, but Regen can likely match/exceed it on standard to mid-tier builds. Once you get to very high end builds, regen may fall behind, but especially when you consider a brutes higher HP cap, I think regen will surprise a few people.
I am looking forward to a SM/Regen brute and I generally prefer scrappers to brutes. -
Quote:I love defenders, but when talking about AVs, all corruptor teams are by far superior. Scourge is ridiculous against AVs and GMs.Well, technically it proves that they can hit strictly greater than 23.5 DPS, but we all know the true damage output is still a great deal more, because these AVs fall quickly.
The simple fact of this conversation is that, right now, a team of defenders is arguably the most powerful thing in the game.
If you buff defender damage, you can take the "arguably" out of my last statement.
That being said, any increase in defender damage would need to be accompanied by an increase in corruptor damage.
I still believe in the post in my sig. I still think it is crazy, but I believe in it anyway. Buff defenders! -
Every ounce of my excitement and positive feelings about I21 will disappear if they take Tentacles out of Dark Blast for blasters. That is not an exaggeration. I know it is irrational, but I have wanted Tentacles/Nightfall on a blaster since 2004. I am fine that Nightfall will have KB, but tentacles is a must for me. They ruined Psi blast for me, I hope they do not make the same error with Dark Blast.

Quote:Can't do it. I don't turn my difficulty down and stealth through missions just to get them out of the way. I never log into the game just to get it out of the way. I never do anything just to get it out of the way. I have one character that has built up 23 H-merits. Almost every one of the missions I ran at +1 x5, my standard level for that character. Some came when I teamed with others, and then they were at whatever level they ran at. When I run a tip/alignment mission I want to enjoy the mission, not just finish it as fast as possible. At level 50, run through tips at -1/1. You can clear them in less than an hour. And are you saying it's not worth a player working towards it?
PvP IOs are not easy nor are they within easy reach of anyone who just wants one. 330 missions is not reasonable.
EA has been relatively painless to soft-cap since I13, but not because of PvP IOs. -
Quote:I do not think the regen gets shutdown, but even if it does, compared to how well the defense and resistance of all the other armors works I guess you are...Thats just 2 heals, which easily get used up, your still naked when integration and instant healing shut off due to the goo. I still say its worse for a regen.
wrong. -
Scrappers can be pretty, but can they really be strong.
Either way, I am going to make a pretty scrapper, and maybe they will be strong too. -
Quote:Reconstruction and Dull Pain have unresistable heals. The mechanic Hami uses to stop healing is granting you heal resistance. Heal resistance does not work to stop regen's heals. It is good to be a regen in the LGTF.I been to several hami raids and as far as I know inside the goo no heals work so doesnt that put regen to even more of a disadvantage?

Quote:Indeed, your teammates should watch in awe as you do all your stuff damnit! I always say the only reason to dislike KB is melee ego-tripping; you and I are some of the few who are willing to admit it!It's not the extra minute. It's the fact that I didn't get to to 'that cool thing that my powers let me do to the good/bad guys' that ruffles my rhubarb. Gathering a nice clump to Soul Drain/Consume/Burn into charred hulks only to have them knocked away by some numhead who does 5% damage to them is like having someone &^*(( in my Cheerios.
Indeed it does. I always forget that Granite has mez protection. -
Quote:I am all for a no fade option on Energy Cloak. My /EA loves the fade, but I see no reason for this not to be part of Power Customization.Plus, there's really no reason Energy Cloak shouldn't have a no/low FX option, like Cloak of Darkness does. My guess is so few people played/play EA and even fewer care about that specific thing, they didn't get enough complaints about it. The logical step is for me to whine twice as loud!
I add my voice to your clamoring din! Let my character remain visible even when cloaked! -
Quote:I find it doubtful. I have decent, but not spectacular, global recharge, +56.25% before Hasten and once I get Energize I am sure that will improve by 5% thanks to DW slotting. With my FF +recharge in Foot Stomp I figure I can normally have Energize floating just above a 40 seconds cycle time. I am guessing the +recharge for the set will cap out at 30% or lower (likely hitting +20% around 5 targets). Even if the recharge shoots to +50% from the aura, I will only likely get to ~36 seconds at best. You're getting a taunt aura with a recharge bonus so you will be able to use Energize more often than that.. I'd love to see how much +rech we will get per mob.
And of course the +recharge would help me shave a second or two off the ED recharge as well, which can have additional mitigation properties beyond the heal. I think the EA changes overall will be very good. However, I am very happy with my /EA brute now and this change will be removing a heal I currently rely on regularly and replacing it with a heal that has twice the base recharge and a lower potential maximum heal (although counting in the +regen, Energize likely beats out the total HP gain). I am not sure which will be better for me, although I accept I may suffer a degradation in performance to lift the set overall (blaster defiance changes already did that to me once).
I do not normally suffer from being whittled away. I am normally fine and then take a big hit where a heal is nice. When I get hit twice with that big health drop quickly, I know ED will be back very soon (or I can use Aid Self with its 10 second cycle time). Energize could be 30 seconds away. The kicker is that in order to take Energize, I'll likely have to lose Aid Self. So I am looking at losing the quick recharge heal in ED and the very quick recharge heal in Aid Self. I am not sure what the other changes to EA are, but those resistance increases in the passives better be more than just token buffs. -
I can handle one blue patch. I never move away from BM during the first half of her health. Haven't really been able to test against just 2 patches, but I imagine 3 or more would be killer no matter your regen.
-
I'd love to see PB get +20% max HP and 50% regen added. I think that would be good for all the ATs with SR.
Quote:I have trouble figuring out what Destiny to take on my tank characters. I ended up with Ageless on my WM/WP/Earth tanker, mostly because End drain was likely his primary bane and I thought the debuff resists could be nice. So far I am happy with the choice.Yeah, I agree the rchg on Energize can feel slow, but I carry 8 green insps for Keyes and have no worries.
My Kat/Inv/Body scrapper went with Rebirth. An extra heal and more regen on top of all the other mitigation is very nice.
My SS/EA/Soul Brute went with Clarion. Avoiding Fear and Confuse has been nice, the modest increase in defense and a few other secondary effects is OK, but primarily I thought if I could keep teammates from getting mezzed, that would likely help me the most.
I have no idea what to take on my Fire/Ice/Earth tanker. His recharge is already great, he has no end issues, so Ageless is out. Healing Flames recharges so fast, Rebirth seems a waste. Barrier could be could and seems the likely choice, but Clarion is also looking nice. Some extra status protection for myself and allies, preventing even those exotic mezzes (which become less exotic every year).
Anyone have a good Destiny suggestion for a graniteless Stone/Stone/Energy? -
My EA brute can currently use ED every 25 seconds (actually every 21, but 25 is a more pleasing number). With just 3 targets in range it heals for 18.5%. With 5 targets it heals for 30.9%.
How would that compare to a 48% heal and +190% regen from Energize on a 40 second cycle?
If I lose Stimulant and Aid Self to pick up Energize, I might grab Hand Clap, because all SS incarnates need to spam that (Imperious and Statesman taught me that). -
Quote:The irony is, just on SOs, Regen will be near the top of the performance curve. It is only when you start IOing and only when you add many enemies where regen's performance evens and can even fall behind. Yet IOs can still allow regens to far exceed the performance needed to tank AVs and 8 man spawns, but, yes, they will have to use their clicks.Which is it Ryu? Soloing 8 man spawns or built exclusively in SOs. Make up your mind as to which level of gameplay you want to use as your "metric."
With Dull Pain active, Regen brutes should be able to tank for a team very well. When it is down, it will likely be tougher. Regen is not a dive into the middle and soak all the aggro for a team set. It can eat an Alpha, but if the team doesn't provide help quickly after that, Regen can have issues. Without a lot of +offense (QR counts some, but not as much as an damage aura or AAO/Shield Charge), they also are not spawnmowers and deal less well as spawn size scales up.
Regen should do fine tanking AVs though. By the time a regen has used all their clicks, a team should be providing strong support vs. an AV. LRSF is, as always, exceptional, but one expects to use inspires, ally (de)buffs, or a strong IO build to handle that encounter. I think they will do fine and should be a fun set.
I am pretty sure I am going to make a SM/Regen Brute although KM and Axe are also appealing. I am more torn figuring out which secondary for my Kat brute. Inv is my first choice, as a replay of my Kat/Inv scrapper, but I also might choose Electric or Dark. -
They could add Mag 4 mez protection vs. Hold, Stun, KB, Immob, and Sleep to Energy Cloak. Being a little extra strong against mezzes when both powers are up could be a nifty little benefit (currently only Regen gets something like that).

Congratulations! Great arc. Its been a bit since I played it, I think I am going to have to jump back into with a character.

Quote:After issue 21 comes out, you can send that 769m and some change to @StratoNexus. Dark Regeneration will not be a blaster power. I have never wanted to lose 500m influence so badly before. From what I understand, you intend to bet against the Dark Regeneration inclusion, so it's the reverse. Every 13 units bet will return 7, plus what you put down. So if you win, you'd get 500m*(7/13)+500m = 769m and some change.
Mmm. 2 self-rezzes. I want it! -
I frequently check HPs as well as powersets. I'll avoid using it on people with Dull Pain in the high levels and if I see a blaster or stalker already close to the cap I skip them too. It is rare for me to be on a team where there are not at least 2 good candidates for Frostworks.
-
Quote:OK. I am not good at this whole odds thing. How much do I win if I bet 500 million influence against?Taking bets now:
Does Dark Manipulation include Dark Regeneration?*
Odds are 65:35 against. Minimum buy in 100m influence. Contact me in game.
Yes, I'm serious.
*Clarification: Dark Regeneration as is. Not a modified version.
It has KB. I hope it is like Energy Torrent and is at least 60%, although I'd be happy with 80 or 100 as well. If it is 50 or lower, I'll be a little sad (unless they remove the KB, which would also be OK with me). -
Quote:There are really only 2 reasons to go corruptor over defender IMO. First, you would rather get the blast powers sooner. Second is if you spend most of your time fighting EBs or AVs.What about pairing traps, storm and dark miasma with fire blast? Does the same logic apply or is there a strong reason to go the other way (corruptor) for those combos?
Solo play is about even for both sets, although defenders are generally more survivable solo, IME. -
Quote:So is that how I can get tankers like you to move faster? Now I need to find a way to get KB on my Fire blasters, so after you gather them you realize that your job in this spawn is over and it's time to move on.I love blasters like you on my tanks. I leave you with your KB aggro and go to the next group.

Quote:1) Being unable to invite is a bug they say they are going to fix.You cannot continue to invite to the league while in the queue, so instead of helping to get a larger group, you have to twiddle your collective thumbs after sitting for up to 30 minutes trying to attract enough interest in a trial... After 30 minutes, another 5 minutes where no one else shows up is completely unreasonable.
2) After popping into the queue for a Keyes with 14 people, I announced the fact in broadcast and 3 global channels for the server I was on. This was a trial at 1 AM EDT. We ended up with 17 people. If people start to learn the LFG system can be made to work, more people will be able to use the feature. Gaining 3 people was great.
Quote:Again, after spending 30 minutes recruiting, the delay is unreasonable.).
I never recruit that long. I almost always immediately set a deadline. I'll spend 3 or 4 minutes inviting my SG/globals. Then, depending on the population level I set the deadline. I tell the people in the league, we will be queuing in 10 minutes if it is very populous and the most is 20 minutes for a slower time (actually until Keyes, my highest was 17 minutes, but Keyes has been more difficult to form, so I added 3 minutes for Keyes). I literally set a timer. When I announce the forming of the trial in globals, I include the deadline. Every few minutes I inform the league how much time is left and if I announce it in globals again, I include the new deadline.
I do all this because I HATE waiting doing nothing and having NO IDEA if a league will start soon or be another 10 minutes. Since I do not like it when it happens to me, I refuse to allow it to happen when I lead. I never try to fill, but frequently do anyway.
The potential I see in this system is to automate some of those things I do to make everyone's life easier. Yes, I still expect a trial to take 10 to 15 minutes to form, but I'd rather it be a lot less work to form; I'd rather a lot more definitive time until start existed; I'd rather feel free to wander my house, folding laundry, knowing the Green button is coming in 4 minutes, rather than worrying it could happen now, or maybe now, no wait now.
Quote:There is no point in alerting the leader that there are more people in queue, as the league leader can't invite those other people to their league.
Since I do not need to invite those people as leader, I am unburdened of some work. A few people will just automatically fill in and I'll be happy.
Quote:I've done this the last week. The amount of people that got added in the 5 minutes window over the 15 trials I led this last week was, get this, ONE PERSON. They were added in at the 2 minute mark after 30 minutes of trying to get a league together.
I'm not speculating how effective this is, I know how effective it is with experience. -
Quote:I say we bypass the whole problem! One cost will be much wailing of people whose SG moved servers and left them behind.
