I'd also suggest creating a character specifically for RP. That's what I did when I made Stormy, and he's now my best and favorite character to play with. As I said, I don't RP with him much any more atm.

Kill Skuls.
You horrible hero! You are to arrest them, not kill them and take their L's! -
However, Sonic/Elec is quite rare. I'd say that Elec tends to be somewhat rare, usually only being paired with Kinetics for the -end and -rec then Storm for thematic purposes.
I've gotten some more play time on my Dark/Elec and am starting to like him more. Not quite as experienced with him as my Storm/Dark to do crazy things with him... yet. I think my favorites of my 50s are in reverse order of what people pick them. Storm/Dark, Dark/Elec, Mind/FF, and then my Emp/Psi. If I mention either my Mind/FF or Emp/Psi when giving the choices for a TF, they are always chosen.
I did a LGTF last night with my Dark/Elec, to which not only was he fun, but also quite effective. We had 2 SoA, a Brute (who wasn't tanking, Yay!), a blaster, and 3 defenders (Dark/Elec, Rad/Rad, Emp/Rad). The Empath didn't seem like she was doing much, though I could of been wrong, but me and the Night Widow were always at the front line regardless of where anyone else was. If we were done with the mob, we'd move ahead. It was great fun. I also managed to get 2 purples out of it and the TF only took 2 hours and 15 minutes.
The 2nd purple was amazing because it was for defeating the weakened Hami, which was something we were having difficulty with. Mostly because of the rest of the team's stupidity and failing to attack the same glowy orb thingy. -

Apparently you missed the part where Madam admitted to not ever playing a corruptor at all then claiming defenders are better in a topic comparing damage/support capabilities between defenders and corruptors and controllers. If you haven't played one of each of those well past lvl 20 then you really don't have a leg to stand on in this topic.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a 5 Defenders over the level of 35 and a I have a level 41 and 33 Corruptor. I also have a level 33 and 50 Controller along with a Dominator, Blaster, Tanker, and Scrapper above level 20. Granted my Blaster is only level 21, but it is above 20.
I tend to like Defenders over all the other archetypes. As I said, I get the buff/debuff powers faster and they are more potent most of the time than their Controller/Corruptor/Mastermind counterparts. Sure, maybe not every power, but Arctic does have a leg to stand on. Also, Madam said nothing about never playing a Controller or Mastermind above level 20, to which buffing/debuffing plays a second fiddle to either pets/attacks and controls.
Corruptors aren't the world, and in my opinion, never will be.
Edit: Oh yeah, I have a level 25 Stalker as well. -
Buffing/debuffing is fun.
I won't have 17 "support" characters on Virtue of 21 characters if I didn't. Defender primaries and Controls are great! I enjoy the occasional blast or two and of course a couple of melee attack (besides brawl). That's why I get the most kick out of Defenders and Dominators. If I could get a tri mix of Defender primaries, controls, and assault or just Defender Primaries and Assault, I'd be *so* very happy. Who doesn't want a Storm/Psionic Assault? -

Play styles.

Honestly, if there weren't such a learning curve with Storms and if people were so uppity about taking 3 steps forward and getting two free hits off the enemy, Storms would be a lot more popular.
Alas, good storming is a dying breed. -
I agree fully with Madam. I'd rather have my SB at level 12 versus 20, Freezing Rain at 8 instead of 16, and all of my tasty buff and debuffs earlier. I use my secondaries mostly for their control functions instead of their damage. Psi tornado? Great power! Do I want FR at 8 and Psi tornado at 35 or Psi Tornado at 26 and FR at 16...
Oh, if only my Earth/Storm were level 16... -
Hehe
Next time show him character creation. It'll take about 1-2 hours for a very simple costume that I'd consider myself slacking and not put any bells or whistles on him either. It was loads of fun when I had my roommate who plays WoW make a few characters. Ugly looking and simple characters, but still took as long to make my elaborate just right face scale to make him different from my other character and an innovative costume that doesn't look like any of my other characters. -
I'm entering into a new state after getting my 15 month vet badge. I want to keep getting my characters up in level, but my altitis is setting and I'm not really in a big hurry to level them. I've also gotten myself more into RP by finding much entertainment in RPing with them. However, I've not gotten myself completely one way or the other at this current point. Hopefully I'll get a few more 50s before I decide to sit down and live with what I have.
-
I'm game... though I'd really like to get an RP session with someone before then with someone who's not Sam. I've been shooting for Summer, but I think the internet keeps crashing on him.
-
There's plenty of teams that don't RP, plenty of teams that do. Same with SGs. I made a few non-RP characters on Virtue before finally dipping my foot in with Stormy. It took off and was great. The RP for him died out, I switched SG, and now he's ready for any SG member that joins and wants to RP. Sure, most of my characters have backstories, personalities, etc. but he's what me and the other co-SG leader call "The head of the RP division." But that's because he's my "main" and I'd be more focused on RP than the other leader will be. We both want to RP, so neither will be too far away from that.

Oh, almost forgot...
Also remember, not everywhere is Cap, and there's more to the game than just Cap. -
Welcome! Enjoy your stay. And just remember, not everywhere is Atlas, and there's more to the game than Atlas.

KB isn't very popular on teams because it can mess up someone's AoEs and interfere with Stalkers and brutes hitting their targets. And enemies can be bounced into another mob, causing trouble.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only reason it's not very popular is because most of the population that have KB don't know how to properly utilize it, which causes problems when dealing with teammates. If you pick up things quickly, this could be a very valuable asset to a team. However, you'll have to go through the learning curve, which you may want to spend lots of time soloing to figure out how to best utilize the knockback.
People hate KB because of people's inability to use it properly or the fact the team members are lazy. Sometimes it's column A, sometimes it's column B, most of the time it's column C, which is both. Column D is great and your team will flourish. I've been trying to get my name out there with my Storm characters, but most don't go looking for me directly. That being said, most are happy after the first 2 or so mobs to have me. It takes great finesse to know how to use knockback. Oh yes, and there's the occasional time in column D that the knockback won't go as you expect. Flaws happen to everyone (since we're human), just most can see and complain about this one. -
I was wondering if I could get some opinions of my build. It's a pve build and am willing to listen to any advice you're willing to give me.

Barring those who don't touch AE with a 10 foot pool because they like low levels/like not farming. That and there might be some who start up characters repetitively close to the date and might not get their characters up that high that fast *shrugs*
However, it does allow for either side to participate still, which is a good thing. -
He *might* of just been on the far edge of the heal, or it could of been having the heal centered on a person running to the tank, thus getting further distance out of the heal. Dunno, haven't seen it happen personally.

The only reason I'm wanting to find a team 35+ is because I've got 4 50s, which I'm fine with not playing except TFs or the like. However, it's the 2 39s, 2 37s, and a 36, that makes me irritated. I try to start up teams, and usually get 8 man and run successful teams usually in no time. However, I can't find a character that really sticks out to me enough to start the grind from the upper 30s to 50. Making me willing to jump around if a person needs me on a team in a LFG channel.
I check them, just there's not a lot going on in the 30-49 range usually. -
News flashes!
I work from 1-9pm Saturday. Also, I have next Tuesday and Thursday off. The rest is off at either 11 or midnight. All times EST, even though I live central *smiles at SK* -
Okay, back onto the topic at hand, FF/Ice build. Since Ice blast is one of the most controlling secondaries (for those who say about "pure" controlling) which contains 2 holds along with a slow in pretty much every attack, including the AoEs. Also, the AoEs do Blaster damage, so they should out damage most other AoEs by other secondaries.
However, you have what FF as your primary which brings out some key powers for teaming and key powers for soloing. The shields themselves are team only, PFF is great for soloing if you get into a tough situation. Repulsion Bomb will be great for your AoEs, set an AoE, Repulsion Bomb to keep them in place and then use your other AoE and then let the slows of the AoEs go after them.
Also, for your power pools, you've picked very team oriented powers. Maneuvers is great for keeping up your defense for those hard enemies and for yourself, but doesn't really do anything for your teammates with your bubbles and your big bubble. Assault will raise your (and your team's) damage.
Your blasts, to me, seem under enhanced for damage with only three slotting your tier 1 blast. Increasing the slots will allow you (either via sets IOs, generic IOs, or SOs, etc.) to increase your damage on them. The more you slot them, and for damage, the more damage you can do with them, recharge them, and make them from running out of endurance for other powers.
You've also taken Aid Other and Heal Self, to which you may find a better solution by taking the fighting power pool, increasing your Smashing/Lethal resistances and increasing your defenses with more personal toggles. Sure your epic will help with the damage resistances, but straight up personal defense is always a plus.
As far as low level play goes, you only have 2 attack powers other than your temp and brawl until level 22, which is one of the holds. Which means solo, it'll be really difficult to deal damage with only the Tier 1 and 2 powers to rely on. Do-able, unknown, but the facts remain.
Hasten helps with getting attacks up and ready, especially long recharge ones like your AoEs including the Ice and Dispersion Bomb. However, it does little for the complete package if you have a decent amount of attacks at that level.
As far as your epic attacks, they don't do very good damage either, so when you hit epics, you're going to be knocked down a peg again. I'd suggest maybe Dark, jump in the middle, raise your damage, and then go into the earlier AoE fest that I mentioned.
I say this as a consideration towards how you have it currently belt (minus the nuke AoE that I'd suggest getting as well). You'll be a great asset to any team, however, with that build you're simply not lending yourself to your damage potential at the moment. Force Fields is soloable, and safer with Ice Blast with the holds, but you must also keep your attack powers in mind and slotted to how you want them.
I've considered slotting my Dark/Elec for Endurance Mods to keep enemies completely turned off to attacking as an extra form as defense. Sure, it'll be safer if I finish it, but I'll also not be enhancing myself for damage, and thus making my damage contribution less.
Force Fields is an interesting creature, and if you plan it right, you can knock all of them into a corner with Force Bubble, use Dispersion Bomb to keep them from attacking for a moment, then start the rest of your AoEs, holding those who could be a problem.
Sure, Force Fields is about the same (without number crunching) as the Controller version, but a usual non-damage AoE hold, AoE immobilize for somewhat low damage, and a few other usually non-damaging mitigation tools, you're doing the single target hold thing like them, but then can deal more damage with the AoEs and out of the box better damage than a Controller. You can instantly deal some damage to them while Controllers have to wait.
As I said, nothing wrong with your build, but what your asking of it, that seems to be the problem in my opinion. It's a great team build, but you won't be going anywhere fast solo or dealing much damage for the team. But hey, in my opinion if you're keeping everyone else alive, they can do the damage for you. Think of yourself as a /FF Mastermind, but you don't have to control the pets and you can actually focus on dealing damage.
Defending - it's a frame of mind. -
I also have one, my only Blaster. He's level 21 and fun to play. Granted, I'm probably going to have him jumping in and out of melee all the time, but currently I'm just standing back and AoEing everything to death.
-
I always suggest Storm. It's great!
I've got a Storm/Dark, Storm/Sonic, Fire/Storm, Earth/Storm, and several other Storm characters. It's great, if you can get past the learning curve.
Also a note, people (or yourself) may get confused with the sets X/X in corruptor or defender format. Not that it really bugs me, but when you're talking about a Sonic/Dark/Rad, confusion will ensue. TA, etc. won't be as bad, but we may be posting our suggestions as (De)Buff/Blast instead of Blast/(De)Buff.
