  1. It IS that time of year again!!! Back by popular demand, and for the fourth(?!?!?!) year in a row, it's the Annual Protector Holiday Card Exchange.

For those not familiar with this event, here's how it works: Those who opt in to participate send holiday cards to everyone else who signed up. So, you send out a bunch of cards and receive a bunch of cards from familiar faces from the forums and ingame on our cozy little (okay, probably not so little) server. In previous years, between 20-25 people have signed up for this, from the US, Canada and beyond, and I'd wager there will be at least that many again this year participating. Previous years people have sent all sorts of nifty things including stickers, ornaments, handmade cards, and more (looks pointedly at Golden Ace).

Signups are officially now open!!!! Signups are open until November 24th, 2010, and the list will be shared shortly after that. The sign up linky is here.

In order to participate, you must fill out the form!

er, to be precise, I think just Posi posted that he and BS were investigating. They didn't both post.
Nightstar must be hit or miss then. I didn't run into the problem of missing Nightstar - she counted when we ran this. Neuron also doesn't appear in the new arc but seems to be borked as well.

It's looking like it's hit or miss on various AVs, especially those whose models have changed.

Try running the Maria's old arc in Oro and see if that triggers the last two AVs.

Well, now that you have way advance notice of this, you can try to set aside some monies for this. You can pick up cards at the Dollartree, postage would be the most expensive part of the equation, which a dollar or two here and there adds up.

I really like the idea of doing it with meatballs!

    .
Normally when I make this I use crumbled hamburger, which takes a bit longer, but is delicious. The meatball idea came from when it was way too hot a bit ago, and I needed to be at an ingame event at a certain time, but I was also designated dinner prep person that day. The trip through the store was "what can I make that's not expensive, easy to make, and will easily, but soundly feed 4".

I love using rice instead of noodles for most things involving sauce. It just tastes better to me for some reason.
  8. Reading about rice makes me want to share a stupid easy and quick way to make stroganoff. This is the version I'll do if I want to spend minimal time in the kitchen. (ie. 10 mins or so) Otherwise I'll make it more from scratch, but this is a proven winner.

Put rice in rice cooker following proper proportions of water/rice (this does change depending on the type of rice. I prefer jasmine rice as it holds up better with sauce and isn't as sticky as your traditional white rice). Let rice cook in rice cooker (about 20-25 mins. It'll tell you when its done cooking)

About 10 minutes after rice was started...

Take some precooked frozen meatballs, heat them in a covered nonstick pot/pan until heated. Season as necessary. Add a packet of brown gravy mix following the instructions on how much water to add with the packet into the pan with the meatballs. Let that thicken up a bit, then add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of sour cream, stirring well. Let meat and sauce bubble and thicken up to desired consistency. Take off heat and wait for rice to finish cooking (if it hasn't finished by this point.)

Scoop meat and sauce over cooked rice and you're done. Om nom nom!

I ran into a similar issue while running this yesterday. We ran the new Maria arc, got 11 of 14 AVs counting towards the badge. We went back and started the old Maria arc to get Siege and Neuron, with getting Anti-Matter separately. While in the old arc, Shadowhunter caused the bar to progress to 12 of 14. Siege? Got us 13 of 14. We took down Neuron in the old Maria's arc? Nothing, still 13 of 14. Which is odd because Shadowhunter shouldn't count towards the badge progress now, while he used to count before the arc revamp.

We then got Anti-Matter and ding! Dimensional Warder popped for both of us.

Nah, it'd be more like "Which one of Badge's raids was that?" and then figuring out who was who.

    Inquiring minds want to know...
1.) Tuesday as in tonight, August 17.

2.) You have to be on a team where the leader is in the SG whose Mission Computer/Oracle is being used. If you have one in your SG, it will not work. It must be the comp/oracle of the SG hosting the CoP Trial.

I'm in. If I can get the second comp patched in time, I'll also bring the rad, but my blaster will definitely be there with bells on.

Thanks to Kid and Major T for the great run! Hopefully, sometime soon, we'll be able to try for an evacless.
Nope, targetting wasn't too horrific. I managed to see what you were targetting.

Thanks Kheldarn... I know long way to go to forum cartel.

I thought the name Laser Pointer was much more inventive for my Dual Pistols chick than the Two Whatever names that were bound to pop up. So Laser Pointer is a sassy redhead who really does wield two Laser Pointers (Pistols, that is) for her weapons of choice.
  19. Don't laugh at me when I ask you on your feelings about red/orange together. Yes, it sounds like the worst color combination together, but trust me on this.

I'd like to know if orange is too close to yellow, or is red/orange a color scheme to be considered in submissions?

I'm sure you can find some stores in your area selling loose tea leaves, prepackaged tea bags are not a good thing. (With the possible exception of Morning Thunder; warning DO NOT add milk to Morning Thunder, it will curdle.)
I feel that every time you make coffee or tea, you should start with an empty, clean kettle. Don't leave the old water in there and just refill it. *shudder*
Not all teabags are horrible, it depends on how they're packaged. If they're in a foil lined wrapper, they'll keep for several years. If they're just in paper with no protection from the air, then the shelf life is considerably shorter.

Pfft, as I told you in our last discussion on this matter, the time you let it steep is dependent on the type of tea you drink. Secondly, what brand of tea you're drinking is very important. Now, if you have that Lipton dreck in your cabinets, throw it out posthaste. Do not stop, do not pass go, toss it directly into the trashcan. That stuff is /hideous/. Luckily, you can find more respectable brands of tea at your local grocery store that are proper and have flavor. (Stash, Bigelow and Tazo tend to be the largest. I personally lean towards Stash and dislike Tazo, YMMV)

Also, using the hot water from a water dispenser isn't as hot as you're going to need it to properly steep tea. Black teas should have the water at a rolling boil, green tea should be around 190 degrees F (or when the small bubbles start to form but the water hasn't gone to full boiling stage.)

There are also electric kettles that might be an option for getting hot water you need to make tea - they come in all sorts of sizes from countertop to desktop.
