    ...jealousy rising...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some of us have been waiting for well over a year for these... so, uhm, yah... be jealous. We're too busy jumping up and down with glee.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And some over much longer than that, and paid commissions to boot. Understandably we're jumping for glee.
  2. Tell me about it *squees* I seriously need to stop looking at my Warshade's rear, they're both so perty *squees more*.
  3. Okay, there is that part which I forgot about.

I should also clarify that I have no argument whatsoever on buying V when it came out and this lands, my argument was solely with how the bad timing of the announcement and how the games can still be purchased individually.

    *retreats into corner now*
  4. This is interesting news and especially annoying if you paid to buy CoV for the extra slots and access to V within the past couple of days. I wonder what kind of compensation those people will get as a result of this because they bought something that they /really didn't need to buy/? (This isn't me, but someone I know.)

Yes, CoV is still for sale on the PlayNC Site, I just checked. Very annoying.
  5. *blushes* Nice artwork showcase this week. I particularly like CB's spotlighted piece, and flattered.

I don't think anyone really has an issue with long waits, I think the issue was(is?) unexpected long waits with very little explanation. Its different when you know something will take 6 months, a year, etc, but, (my own experience elsewhere)its very frustrating when a piece commissioned with the understanding and expectation of 3 months still isn't done in 8 and there's been little to no communication as to why. Sounds like there was just some miscommunication in this case, but I can understand the frustration.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exactly. If it's stated up front that it could possibly take x amount of time for the pieces to be completed, then knowing that up front is one thing. It's entirely different to have no explanation as to why a rough date of y is given, then that comes and goes without any explanation until long after the fact.

That aspect is what brings down the level of enthusiasm for the piece(s). For example, instead of "oooh, I was told I'll be getting this around such and such *happy dances*" it's more like "oh, I was told to expect this aroundish such and such, but that was a few months ago and haven't really heard anything, so I guess I'll get this when, as and if I'll ever get it *shrug*"

The long timeline issue might be something better explained in a site FAQ, especially for people who are not familiar with artwork circles but are considering commissioning a piece or two, associated wait times and instead go by what previous clients have mentioned for how long it took for their pieces from start to finish. Testimonials are one aspect of the process, but I think a rough "this is how long it could take for you to receive your artwork depending on queue, complexity, yada yada" would help immensly. On the flipside to that, I can see where stating that up front could scare some people off from considering an order.

I have some more thoughts about this which I'll be responding to Gill privately on. I wanted to respond here to hopefully clarify things as well.

Mine certainly did. I ordered 2 pieces from MMOART back in August of 2006 and, as is customary, paid half up front. I got some sketches in late March of 2007 to approve (which I did immediately), and was told to expect delivery in April or May. It's now September and, frankly, after 13 months my enthusiasm has waned to the point of not being interested. All the contests are great, but if they dont deliver the bread and butter pieces, it seems like kind of a waste of time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*nods* I'm in the same exact boat as you. I'm feeling generally blah towards the two pieces I commissioned back in Aug '06. I was excited at one point, but now the enthusiasm has exited the building.

I understand life happens and delays happen. But waiting over a year with no idea when I'll ever see the finished pieces has left a somewhat sour taste in my mouth. Lessons learned, c'est la vie.
  8. Beautiful, these just keep getting better and better. One of these days I'll have enough coinage flying about to get one done. Though I do have a couple questions about rendering when the time comes.

    MMOArt??

Does anyone know what's going on with MMOArt and Jomaro lately? There's been little since his accident in May other than he was recovering, and now the forums on the MMOArt site are no longer working, as well as email is gone unanswered.

I'm just a bit worried, and wondering if anyone knows whether things are okay or not with him. Thanks!

I recognized a couple of oldtimers there like Badge, and people who have been immortalized in art like Missy K and Mistress Vine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You recognized Badge? What's wrong with you? Don'tcha know Badge is a myth created by Empaths to scare people?

It was definitely an odd feeling going up against many of the people I play and chat with on a regular basis and then making it to the quarter-final cut.

Seriously though, it was a lot of fun and many thanks to Gill and Lush for organizing something this crazy, er, I mean fun.

To the community's credit, that kind of garbage seems less prevalent. I made a new toon last night, clearly in the mostly-nekkid school of costume design (tiger stripes with matching skin color and leather accessories). I was being checked out by one toon in particular (you know the signs, come up close and spin 360), so I turned and popped claws at him. *SHENK* He ran to the corner of the room and executed the cower emote. I gave him an /em goaway and ran off to my mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That reminds me... Do not assume and insist that just because my Domi's dressed in a long-sleeved bikini, thigh-highs, chains and fishnets and looks hawt because she's just over 6 feet tall does not instantly mean that she's fair game to hit on and flirt up via tells or that I can't possibly be a *gasp* female playing a female toon that happens to not have a whole lot on costume-wise, but is also tastefully designed. Repeatedly.

Do not assume that my Bot/Dark MM lass is a h34l3r when looking for other AT's for a PuG. Yes, she has a healing power... with a close radius... that is mostly used for her henches... and not to bail the idiot in front of me out of trouble because they can't figure out how to play without a h34l4r holding their hand every step of the way.

Warshade issue: If the corpse disappears during the Extract Essense animation, no pet is generated, but we still use the End and reset the timer.

I don't like paying the full cost for the pet when the summon fails.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also, Extracted Essence does not show an icon when "active" like other pets do. There's no way for me to tell when my pet is up aside from keeping my purple fluffy on a leash in front of me.
