  1. I didn't even read this whole thing because I'm super-caffeinated and running late, but...

Yes, please. I've been wanting something like this for the lonnnngest time. I'd love to see, or be directed towards, any type of mechanical/coding explanation for why we can't have these. I mean, we can already port to any of our allies' bases, if they flag their bases for sharing; seems like it'd be a pretty similar idea.

    3. Will the Women of the Furies make a presence in the game? They seem to be from the time of Cimerora but in the WofA, they moved into the penthouse with Statesman. Also, what role will they play further in the story? The game portrays the well of furies as a sentient lifeform but in the book it was a passive instrument.
    4. How is Positron financing his research? In the FreePha, he and Snapse didn't seem to be financially well off.
    5. What's the story behind Recluse came to settle on Mako, Ghost Widow, Black Scorpion, and Scirocco as the foundation for his organization? How exactly and when did he take over Arachnos? He killed someone, right?
The answers to several of these questions are answered via game content, or--if you want to know "right nao", as the kids say--paragonwiki.com.
  3. Caem, you wore me down. *sets aside $$ for theHand and--knock on wood--Nema*
  4. Oh, I don't disagree with either Penny or Shaggy. What I do feel is odd is that the thank you, in the form of the perk, doesn't necessarily equate with player interests. To me, it makes more sense, from a truly "thanks guys!" perspective, to offer /auctionhouse as a reward to those who use it the most, as they would get the most benefit from it.

EDIT: *high-fives Lothic* That sums up my perspective pretty nicely.
  5. Hard to attain =/= pay us $15 for 7 years, though.

I won't see it for at least another year as a Vet reward. And as I've just gotten serious about some marketeering I sure could use it. But I can wait.

What I REALLY want to see (besides a base AH access item) is Web access to the AH or, better yet, some smartphone apps (Android/iPhone) to allow mobile access. When I can get into the game I'd much rather be playing City of Heroes than City of Day Traders. When I can't get into the game would be the ideal time for me to be marketeering and crafting, at least from my point of view.
...there are some things going on in this post with which the devs cannot help you. For those that they can:
*base AH access would be nice, but it wouldn't help mid-mission; bases themselves have been devolved--between Mission Transporting, Ouro Portaling, and the combining of the respective transit systems--to gathering spots for roleplayers, and/or salvage storage/crafting. I would certainly rather just open up my nifty /auctionhouse window then run to my SG base every few missions.

*I think you might have misunderstood the OP, and I can speak directly to it, as it was actually linked from an idea I posted in the Market forums. The point is that something as specific as instant access to the Auction House/Black Market confers a greater benefit on those players who make great use of said House/Market than those who do not, and that this has nothing at all to do with how long anyone has been playing/paying for the game. As I mentioned in my original post (in the other forum), I know many, many 5 and 6 year veterans who don't use the market very much, but I cannot say the same for those who have their Field Crafter badge. Tying the /auctionhouse into an Accolade or a Booster Pack sidesteps that issue, as those who want it will either pony up the $10, or work towards the badge.

I'm not really sure where "entitlement" comes into play vis a vis this suggestion.
  8. This is kind of a distant cousin to the NCSoft Naming Policy thread that's been here for a bit, as well as something about which I've been wondering for a while. I doubt that anyone will know NCSoft/Paragon Studios' exact policy in this area, however, one or some of you may have run into this "issue" at some point.

As more and more NPCs are introduced into the game, what happens when the names they are given are names that are already held by players? The names of most, if not all, of the NPCs who were present at launch have been blocked, but it's (obviously) impossible to block all potential NPC names. Additionally, it doesn't seem like the devs check the availability of names before they create new NPCs, and rightly so; it would be somewhat preposteros to expect them to find and choose names which are available across all of the servers.

So, what actually happens when an NPC is introduced with an extant PC name? Are players contacted? Or does nothing at all happen (which is what I'm assuming, but would be happy to be proven wrong)?
  9. Is it sad that I don't know where Suggestions go? I'm sort of a niche poster on the boards.
  10. I just wanted to add my voice to the, "cool feature, but not as a Vet reward" crowd. Something like this would be better off as either part of a Booster Pack, or even better, as a sort of second tier Accolade (the workbench being the first). As a Booster, anyone for whom this feature has value could get it whenever they chose (and conversely be ignored by those for whom it has no value; think of it as the Praetorian Party Pack). As an Accolade, it could again be earned by anyone who puts in the time.

I know many, many 5 and 6 year vets who have no idea how to use Wents, or how the market works in general; I don't know very many people with the Field Crafter badge about whom I can say the same.

Nothing to add to this thread except that this right here is probably the best response to trolling I've ever seen. Kudos.

And down goes Black Swan (thanks, insomnia, couldn't have done it without ya).

I have to say...I had long held off on really making an AV soloist, because the idea of fighting the same target for upwards of 15 minutes just seemed really, really boring to me. Not the case! The Black Swan fight is really what made me turn the corner; it's a blast to be duking it out, then get to those, "ohcrapohcrapohcrap, don't hit me again just yet, tier 9 is almost--yes!" moments. Good times.

I suppose you've got Smite, Gloom and Siphon Life, and as you mention you only use Shadow Punch to fill gaps every now and then I'm worried you also use Shadow Maul as part of your regular ST attack chain (which isn't too efficient).

I hit the quota on wild guesses for tonight though, so I'll leave it at that.
Some of those assumptions are correct; I've not even got Shadow Maul in the build, though, so no worries there. So far I've soloed (as AVs):
    *Infernal (used some small oranges)
*Neuron (used some small blues; no AAO/Soul Drain fodder)
*Battle Maiden, Black Swan (no Insps, no Temps)
*Chimera, Bobcat (no Insps, no Temps, no AAO/Soul Drain fodder)

The only one I've encountered who I had to dial down was Nightstar. I should probably spin this thread out into another, kind of an "optimize my non-optimal build" kind of thing. Should they ever give us a NoFX option for Hasten and/or an alternate, non-hentai animation for Midnight Grasp, I'll probably swap out for those two. Until then, I'm pretty set on the powers I've chosen; I'd just like to max out my character's effectiveness with them.

EDIT: I'm actually looking at maybe slotting Shadow Punch with just 2 HamiOs (the Acc/Dam, name escapes me), a straight Damage IO, and a Proc, and using the two spare slots for OwtS, to beef up my Resists for the 33% of the time it's up. Plus I've got the Cardiac 2nd tier, so even more Resists, and less End worries.
  14. Please refer to my first post in re: Midnight Grasp.
  15. So I've had some success soloing AVs with my DM/SD/Soul (a Brute, sure, but the Scrapper forum has always been kind to me in regard to build/slotting help), but I'd like to try to bump up the DPS a bit. I don't use Midnight Grasp or Hasten, so I know I won't be getting the "best" DPS. As it stands, I use Shadow Punch to fill a gap here or there, and right now it's just slotted with 5 CIs and a Mako. I was wondering if it'd be more worthwhile to slot it with Damage Procs, rather than the straight set IOs. Any thoughts?

    Soloed First AV

Haven't yet, but I'll probably pick it up soon. Since stalling against Nightstar, I've had success against Neuron, Bobcat, and Battle Maiden (used fodder for BM, none for the other two). Right now Black Swan is giving me a hard time; it's one of those fights that I could eventually win, given a long enough timeline, but with that much time it's just a given that the RNG will beat me up.

Thankya; been rough so far. Infernal required some oranges, Malaise too, and Nightstar...has she got far more resistance than most AVs? I can barely dent her.

    Soloed First AV

Figured I'd post about this, just because it's my first. On my DM/SD/Soul, with no Hasten or Midnight Grasp (concept choices), using no Insps or Temps, and without any fodder for AAO or Soul Drain, I put down Chimera. I know, it's just Chimera. But I was pretty stoked nonetheless. It was a nice achievement for a build that's subpar and not even finished yet. No pics, because I wasn't expecting to do it, but it was easy enough that I could just do it again via Flashback.

    Hooray!
  20. You have my full support if you pledge to smack McFarlane's balls should you win.

...in a batting cage. Y'know, his super-expensive home run balls that matter even less now. Gutterminds.
  21. Apologies for the necro, but I just wanted to be clear here; if I have a (planned) build with a Global Recharge bonus of +135%, I do not need Hasten, right? (I have a really irrational dislike of the graphic on non-Fire powered characters)
  22. There's been a fairly protracted case of NewShinyBabies flooding the servers, with Freedom and Virtue being the hardest hit; those are the two which I can count on to be in the red almost every time I log in. NewShinyBabies really water down the player base with folks who bring with them mentalities from other MMOs, or just a "Keep up with the hypothetical Joneses or you suck" mindset. Since the Monkey Farm got nuked right around the same time as i19 hit, you've got a lot of those Babies passing their time getting their power-gamer on with Incarnate stuff. All these little tidbits add up to things like what is mentioned in the OP.

This is why I don't PuG (unless someone reads the Tag in my little search box; I love when that happens) right now; I'm all about meeting new players, but I apply the same filter to that as I do to meeting new people in RL.
  23. It's a hypothetical. The exaggeration is meant as "I have all the Inf I need to create any build I might want".
