Quote:Scrappy McScrapperton: Gee guys, I hate having to push these same buttons to attack these guys. It's tedious. How about, instead of pushing those buttons every so often, I have the game just do it for me?Or... maybe said players just don't want to be forced to commit the exact same keystrokes every 4 minutes without any thought process requires just so they can fulfill the core function of their chosen powerset.
Now, replace the name Scrappy McScrapperton with Buffy McBufferton, and attack with buff, and it's the same thing. If you feel differently, it's a matter of perception. -
Bombing run was called off due to lack of people showing up. We had about 10 people show (including a newbie to RtR whom I was excited to make a regular out of), and we needed at least 18. We'll try again next Sunday. Tell your friends, guys!

Quote:The lady doth protest too much, methinks.I outright reject the premise that the raid failed in any way. This is now the jello shooter party line for that raid and it is a lie.
(This is the part wherein he says a lot of stuff)
We at RtR don't ask you to show up an hour early. We don't ask you to show up half an hour early. People do, however, because they want to ensure a spot. That is all well and good, but having to wait until the scheduled start time (which was a couple minutes away, by my clock) is not such a big deal as you're making it out to be. -
Quote:You're playing a support role. I don't see the problem with taking a couple seconds every 4 minutes to, y'know, fulfill that role. If you're all about the pew pew and find supporting tedious, may I introduce you to the blaster?
The issue is that with a 4 minute duration, single target, two shields to cast... it's just tedious. It isn't interesting gameplay. It isn't something challenging to separate the good players from the bad. It's just tedious.
Oh, and yes, it does separate the good players from the bad. Bad support players don't touch/pick up their shield powers. -
Quote:Market flipping is a good way to earn cash to buy purples, if that is what you're asking (and you have the patience).Should I be doing AE missions and doing reward rolls? Should I just be doing TF for Merrits and buying cheaper items that sell well so I can afford to just buy the more expensive stuff?
This. Unless you're aiming for a recharge intensive build, purple doesn't always mean better. -
Quote:No offense, but your friends were either exaggerating, or were one of the people that Hyper was talking about.I wasn't there last night. But my friends who were were all talking about how well it went and how fun and profitable it was. I guess opinions are different for everyone.
While I'm here again, there's something I want to clarify. I have no issues with the people who followed the jump starters. They deserve their badges too, you know? I can even overlook the people who jump started the thing, as much as it annoyed me (Drake has been leading this thing a year now, people should really know that by now). But no, what I can't overlook was the people that were rude and derisive over broadcast. That was not called for, and it was not mature. -
I stand corrected.
No need to be rude. If you had said "If the level shift applied to a level 40..", you would have been entirely correct. I don't see why the concept of a 50 is that much harder to relate to. -
I would like to echo what Hyper said. It really isn't very polite to jump start a weekly raid and try to lead it yourself when the raid leader is there and getting his stuff prepared.
That said, I really appreciate all of you for making it easy for me to add notes to your globals. -

Getting on a team is a pretty much guaranteed way to bypass all the content in Praetoria at a breakneck pace. If even that is too slow for you, or you have problems finding teams...you may want to consider remaking your character as a non-praetorian.
-
Don't bother with it. With softcapped defenses, you won't need it. My softcapped invuln can solo multiple GMs/AVs without unstoppable, and unique enemies like LR that cheat the system can be handled different ways--whether it's through inspirations, temporary powers, or using tactics.
-
Quote:Fix'd that for ya.
Against All Odds absorbs enemy damage as an effect debuff, and powers up your own attacks.
KM attacks debuff the enemies damage regardless of whether or not Power Siphon is active. Like Nalrok said, all PS does is make each sequential attack stronger (up to 5). -
Quote:I was reading through this page
http://goingrogue.na.cityofheroes.co...lpha-slot.html
and I'm wondering...the 'level shift' portion of the rare ability...does that mean if I'm fighting 53s now it would be like fighting 52s if I have the level shift? Do enemies con lower to me if I have that?Quote:Ok, let's reduce this a bit. Say you're level 40 fighting level 43s. When you got the level shift you'd be acting like a level 41 vs those 43s.
In a similar fashion, if you got a level shift, you would be acting like a level 51 vs the level 53s. They would con 1 color level lower after the level shift. They would still be level 53s and you'd still be level 50 though.
The real question is, if the enemies con lower to you, does that reduce the amount of influence you obtain from defeating them? -
Quote:I like this idea. I may do something similiar to my fire/fire scrapper after I gut him for my dark/fire scrapper. It'd be easier to funnel all my money on lesser played alts to him...the only problem with that is that you can't trade over merits.I have a level 50 Spines/Dark Scrapper that I gutted and gave it all to my Fire/Shield Scrapper. But I didn't delete him.
He is now stationary at the WW as my official bank. All trading, selling, buying, large inspires, recipes, salvage, etc. goes through him. It's quite nice really. I now never have to wonder which of my toons has what I might need.
And I never have to be bothered with team invites or tells while crafting as he is always on the "Not accepting team invites". -
Something to remember when picking up inventions--if you choose to do so--is that often, some of the best set bonuses are the ones on the lower level inventions. (Note that this is not *always* true)
Example: Kinetic Combat--Raises your SL defense by a whopping 3.75%. Get a couple of those and you're well on your way to softcapping smashing/lethal defense.
Example #2: Shield Breaker--For similar reasons.
Example #3: Decimation--5 slot it for a large boost to recharge, and a small +max end.
The difference in percentages really aren't all that much, any don't forget that we have alphas now to make up for any deficiencies. Frankenslotting also works by getting you the maximum percentages in the minimum slots...you just have to forgo getting the set bonuses.
If all else fails, grab mids (if you don't have it already) and experiment to see what the set bonuses (and slotting percentages) do to your build. -
-
Oh! Hmm, good to know, thanks. I guess this means I haven't done it yet. I'll have to look that one up. What is the level range?
-
I would like to add that slotting a bunch of purples into every power that could possibly take it (Somewhat surprised you didn't slot hecatomb into brawl) does not necessarily a good build make.

The CoP trial. Dev's banned nukes from being used to overwhelm the AV. Of course, the main difference between this situation and that situation is that nukes were being used there to complete content. Here, it's just to get a badge. I don't know if this makes a big difference in their minds or not, though.
Quote:If you have fly and happened to be a ranged fighter, you can always just stay off the ground. I did this and managed to get the badge. I also hid in the rafters if I was worried about getting attention from Clockwork.
For me, the 3 nukes for everyone on team and shivan/HVAS strategy worked wonders. Just hover between the floor and ceiling, away from any surfaces, and be careful not to aggro the AV directly. -
Quote:....I also fail to see the point you are trying to make. From where I'm sitting, you're just proving Schismatrix right. In those 4 videos, the only ones that drew aggro were, you guessed it, the ones that would have drawn aggro anyways because the player was not invisible. (Shocker, I know) The ones that have full invisibility to the mobs, on the other hand, didn't...because WoC is flagged not to draw aggro. Regardless of what meager damage output it does....
Schismatrix: just out of wondering, what exactly do you intend to do when somebody takes the time to shoot videos of WoC in action?
Say... like these 4:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8_vDfmx9PI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixhc66W-X-Y
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoJ7EWa8yEE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kJIwqBv-Pc
The matter has been passed to Black Scorpion and the powers team for comment on if WoC's behavior is Working as Intended or if there is indeed a bug in the damage component not disabling Stealth on damage initiation.
Have a nice day deary. -
Quote:Guess I ran into some "sucktastic" teams on the first couple days of i19 release.Maybe I've always had exceptional teams, but those two have never taken more than 40 minutes. One hour and a half would fall into "sucktastic team" for me.
Quote:No, Calvin Scott from Primal Earth. It's an old TF from a long time ago that was removed from the game but in I19 it was added back in as an Ouroborus flashback. I've no clue how long it takes but reading the mission list I would guess about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on whether you stealth based on TFs with similar mission structures. It's got two kill alls, 3 kill boss and a couple of hunt and fed ex missions.

Quote:Apex/Tin mage are about an hour, to an hour and a half.Apex TF?
Tin Mage TF?
Calvin Scott TF?
Cathedral of Pain?
Thanks.
COP has a time limit of 1 hour--though generally if you can't do it in the first 20-30 mins you're not gonna beat it.
Calvin Scott TF: Calvin Scott, from the Resistance? I wasn't aware there *was* one. Is this from beta? -

It's looking like the next bombing run is going to be this Sunday (and every Sunday from now on, provided enough people attend) at 5pm EST, 2pm PST.
For those that didn't make it to the last run, suffice it to say it was a lot of fun! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via PM.
