  1. I'm sure I have a character or two that could use that badge, if there is still room and you're taking RSVP's.

So many interesting ideas, a few of which I hadn't considered. Some of them seem a bit overpowered, but nonetheless interesting. (And it is the omega slot, after all!)

As neat (and frankly, game breaking) as that would be, I sincerely doubt it. Without substantial and necessary drawbacks/nerfs to such a state of being, it would trivialize all content. Of course, if it was a short duration timer like Seldom said....

But no, I think the purpose of that was to show an unobtainable "future self" type of deal, like they do on some video games where they stack the odds in story battles.
  3. I'd like to chip in and say it depends on how you're slotted. For example, I went crazy with Obliteration sets for the SL defense set bonuses, so Blazing Aura and Burn, while fast recharging, aren't exactly light on endurance to use.

Sure, you have consume. But maybe, like me, you have it slotted so that it's only up once a minute, and that just doesn't really cut it--especially if you run into sappers.

Cardiac will lower a consumption rate of 1.14+ish to about .70, on the rare version. Plus, your SL resistance will go from 70% to 75%, which is quite nice.

If you have absolutely no endurance issues, the resistance alone isn't enough to warrant Cardiac, so I would then pick something else.

If you posted your build, I'm sure we could be a bit more able to pick out what would help you the most.
  4. I was thinking about random stuff the other day and started thinking about the mysterious Omega slot. What could it be, I wondered. Obviously, there's only so much they can do before they start making us overpowered.

We know that Judgement is an upgradeable awesome AoE attack.

We know that there is a pet summon somewhere in there--Lore, I believe?

I'm sure one of them is a Dual Pistols-esque "Add this secondary damage to your attacks" power. (Since one of the powers we get in the alpha unlock is an unresistable damage bonus. (Note: I'm positive we won't get unresistable damage--that would be overpowered.)

So--what is the final one, then? I have a theory that it could be another global enhancement. I think this for a couple reasons. Alpha and Omega are basically two sides of the same coin, right? It wouldn't really surprise me that they are similar. This also isn't the first time they've allowed us to pick multiple times from the same reward--Vet awards, anyone? And then there's the first mission of the Alpha unlock arc, where's you're all maxed out. Obviously, I don't think they'll actually let us get to that point*, but I can see them letting us have a second global enhancement. What better way to finish the incarnate path than to again increase our powers/stats a bit?

*Except in special missions where we receive no xp as a result of being in god mode

Of course, when it comes down to it this is all speculation and, in the case of one character I have that would like having both spiritual and musculature, wishful thinking.

    What do you guys think?

To be clear--is this a mandatory "You did X amount of damage, it is deducted from your reward" or an optional thing?

Either way, I don't see it being a popular feature. It essentially penalizes any players that use AoE attacks a lot--namely blasters and controllers.

    Rework GMs

Personally, I find it an interesting idea. Sure, it'd be more work to kill them...but as long as the reward is worth it (and new badges always help), people will do it. If nothing else, Lusca obviously needs something changed. Killing that many tentacles for next to nothing just to be able to successfully attack the head (and get your measly 2 merits and badge) is not a good turnout for effort vs Reward.

Of course, this amount of work would probably take a whole issue's worth of goodies. Worth it though, I think. Interactive events like this breathe life into the game.
  7. I am for this idea. It'll let us be more creative with our character backgrounds/titles, and frankly, I hate being stuck with having to pick the Blackwand just because my character concept is mutant origin.

Oh, and yeah, getting a bunch of tech origin SO's while leveling my magic character never fails to annoy.

Yes, but I hardly expect the devs to come up with the time to change around this long standing event (that they haven't changed since it's been first implemented, unlike the winter and Halloween events) when they have so much already on their plate.

And if they had, they certainly would have mentioned it in their announcement of the event. So, far all intents and purposes, your Rogue is still nothing but a villain, and your vigilante is still a hero.

I am somewhat curious as to whether Praetorians under level 20 can pick these missions up, though. If nothing else, it would let us know how the devs see the alignment of the loyalists and resistance players. Then again, I suppose the badges make that answer clear enough.

I share your sentiment, but for a different reason.

I dislike beta because it feels like a waste of time. Nothing you get or do there has any effect on the "real" game, so other than popping in there (and wasting time you could spend doing other things by having to update for the patch) and testing huge/obvious changes, I see no reason to stay more than 5 minutes.

Have one of the moves be a reactive counterattack that results in the 1st incoming attack being dodged and countered with a quick slash. Give it a decent cooldown if you want but I don't think dodging a single blow with a 100% at the expense of your endurance, a power pick, and getting an attack that may or may not hit is unbalanced. It could even detect 'melee' or 'ranged' so you counter a ranged attack by throwing a slash of energy, similar to the claw set's final.

Heck, the final move could even be a reactive stance where you cant attack or move, you just are frozen in place, taunting things to you while you become a flurry of counter-attacks, similar to dual gun's final move but reactionary. Note that this version might gift you with a little damage resistance as you 'hunker down' and prepare but certinally no 100% dodging.
I've read this three times and I still don't know what the heck you're talking about.

I love the Reactive defense idea, definitely /signed.

    Alpha, my Alpha

While there are some people out there that would certainly make use of it, a global boost to KB powers would indeed ruin most knockdown powers, and get ignored by the majority of players.

Maybe I agree with Metronome that both the Resistance and the Loyalists need to go down, and the Syndicate with them, and that Praetoria's best interest is for all of them to disappear?
I just want to point out that the game lore gives you the reason this isn't possible. Seers.

You're either a loyalist, and therefore free to act in Cole's interest, or you're a resistance member that's somehow protected from mind scans from the seers and various psychics (Sup, Tilman) in Cole's regime.

That said, most of my characters work on the pretense of keeping Praetoria out of anarchy. So I'm not just some lackey, I'm looking out for the good of the city.

Well, no, I take it back. I suppose the last line was a bit rude. My apologies.
  16. Not to be rude, but none of these ideas are new, except for Fel Armor.

Spear and Whip probably won't happen, for animation reasons. It'll take a lot of time/money to change all the different animations to make those powersets possible.

I wouldn't mind seeing Fel armor though, it'd be nice to see another toggle super-armor tier 9.

Edit: I'll give you props on going over the powersets, though. Much better than just shooting out names.

Dr. Aeon is the hardest AV I've tried soloing, I personally feel like soloing him will be harder than the 4 AV's and LR.

I'm going to try some more when I log back in, if I complete it i'll post all of the screenies I took during it. If anyone has a strategy for killing Aeon let me know!
    Normal STF? Not master?

Have you considered nukes? Shivans? HVAS?
  20. Frankly, unless you have multiple full servers, I don't see the need. How can you not remember what they are, by the names alone?

Did you give generic names to all your characters?

    Do you not play them?

I know each of my characters powersets by the name alone--and that's not to say that I name them specifically according to their powersets, but that each one is memorable. Different costumes help as well.

If knowing the name and AT doesn't give you enough info...perhaps you should delete the character? I don't imagine you play it all that much.
  21. Ok, first off: 33? Really? You make my deleted/rerolled 50's feel bad.

Anyhow, since no one else actually answered your question w/ reasons why this couldn't happen, allow me.

This cannot happen because if people could switch out of a part of their powerset--even if it was only the /secondary, people would create less characters. Why make a new one and go through the grind, after all, if you could just try another set on your already 50 toon?

This, in turn, would mean that less characters are created. New characters are the life blood of the game. If less are created, there will be less people to play with at low levels, in turn making for a worse experience for new players/characters. Which in turn makes people not want to make new characters. (insert downward spiral here)

Eventually we have people mostly playing high levels, and other players leaving because the game is unfriendly to low levels.

*Note that this is a hyperbolic example of what could happen, but is nonetheless semi-accurate.
  22. One question: Are the slows/-recharges unresistable? If so, great. If not, the powerset instantly becomes useless when faced with foes like Wolves. (Not that wolves are everywhere, but still.)

Edit: Ok, not the powerset. But a couple powers become useless, and if it's resistable, other sets can do similar things.

    Still, it sounds interesting.
  23. In addition to what Memphis Bill said, it sounds like you need to learn how to IO better. You seem to have created these ATs to fill some non-existent niche. Take the Destroyer, for example--same result could be had by softcapping a blaster. It's actually rather easy to do.

    The Deflector...

Inherent power: Siphon Powers, ranged AoE (foe -Res -def -Dmg -tohit -hp -end -spd, Self +Special) recharge moderate, you are able to place enhancement slots on this power. Using this power adds points your Deflection bar equivalent to number of combined points you drained from the foe(s).

Secondary: Foe repellant/ negative taunt/ team hiding/ foe blinding
Where is the damage, then? It sounds like a broken and unnecessary AT.

Methinks you need to play a Fire armor character.

So an Incarnate of Zeus is Zeus in a human body.

Statesman being like Jesus in this manner (according to the Bible in regards to Jesus). Jesus being the incarnate of God in the act of being the son of God simulaneously. (I'm not trying to argue this point. I'm simply pointing this out for reference.)

As a personification of Zeus, Statesman may be mortal, but still is a god as he "is" Zeus incarnate.

Its not really hard to understand.

Regardless of how you want to play it, as soon as the Well of Souls was involved to grant you Incarnate abilities, they are granting your character "the power of a god or gods" and they have become the Incarnate of that "god or gods".
You can't have Incarnate abilities and not be an Incarnate.

    It's pretty strait forward.
I'm sure it will anger people, but there it is. I'm not trying to dis on people that are trying go avoid this fact, but, clearly, if you run the content to get the powers, that's where they came from.
To quote Mender Silos: "Several things are incorrect about that statement, but go on." It's really not hard to understand that you're mistaken. You're thinking of the dictionary and old meaning of incarnate (as it applies to the game lore), and as others have said, that is simply not the case.

Really, I'm just asking who is going to "stick to their guns" in regards to their character conception and not become an "incarnate/god".
If you take the alpha "Incarnate" slot, you are becoming an "incarnate/god" regardless of character conception and if you like it or not.

I was pretty clear in my question, but people will always try to "skirt around the edges".
I'm not asking IF you will become a "god".
Good. Because we won't be "becoming god's."

Last I heard, normal superheroes don't "unlock their inner god."

To me, it means that you're essentially normal, but you're not necessarily restricted to just using what's on hand. So, in the Malta Titan example, you could be, as one person said, tearing/damaging key components, even using special equipment to help defeat this one enemy.

And yes, this is where you make the argument that the character is then a technology origin. And you could be right. But that is not how I define technology origin--to me, the Tech Origin character has to rely solely on his tech, whereas the natural can make use of such things, but rely mostly on his own skills. (This is what I mean by not trying hard enough to make something work within a concept.)

And lest we forget, Superman is a natural origin too.

But, judging by how the OP has yet to come back and respond, my guess is he's either trolling or venting. So the whole issue is moot.
