  1. I'm crying too. I recently had to have my 17 year old cat euthanized. The art is true to life.

    Good Bye

I was on your team last night for the Hami Raid, MonkeyB. Having all my liberty family around me felt so right. I wish Valor could have joined us. My mind is too scrambled for such a list as yours. It's all I can do not to wear sackcloth and ashes.

Thank you, Liberty. It's been the best of times to see me through the worst of times. We are family. We may squabble and kick one another in the shins on occasion, but families do that.

We need more big community raids before the end. I want to go out feeling the way it did when I joined you.

To put this more in perspective: NCsoft isn't moderating the forum. I am. Freitag might be. Hitstreak might be. They're also looking for a new job and trying to deal with everything that has happened.

You know that you have the right as a consumer to voice your displeasure. Let's try to do it in the same manner we would have done during the last 8 years of development; without breaking the forum rules .
For you and the others I will self-moderate what I say and strive for a civil and courteous tone. If NCSoft reverses the decision I'll even change my forum signature to something happy about kittens and close the FB group.

It's not the loss of the game. That I think I could handle and cope with more reasonably (even while crying and posting nostalgic and maudlin things), but how it was done, by what was done to you. I've been there, you see, called into a meeting on a Friday afternoon, told I was fired, and discarded like so much used Kleenex. I did not handle it with your grace, and for that I admire you all the more.
  4. I've signed the petitions and will support TonyV's actions financially if it goes that far.

I've also (see my sig) taken action of my own.
  5. Thank you, Steelclaw. You found the words that I couldn't. I second this from the bottom of my heart, and only have to add one thing.

No other game have I ever dreamed about, and often. They have been amazing dreams, flying and adventurous dreams, dreams of the story and people populating the world, dreams of hope and tragedy and wonder.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for eight years of wonder. I will never forget. When I'm old and on my deathbed I'll still remember and dream.
  6. It just might do other NCSoft employees some good when the company learns that treating your employees like used toilet paper is not acceptable. Assuming anything NCSoft makes even survives in the North American/European markets after this debacle.

It sure makes me feel better because otherwise I'd be tempted to do something very ill advised and illegal. Everyone is safer all around. No one gets hurt and I don't go to jail.

Plus my money doesn't go to sadistic bastards. That's always a plus. I shop for everything else with an eye to the environment and how workers are treated, MMOs shouldn't be any different.

    Edited to be nicer.

This has already been debunked by a red name as a lie. NCSoft will have to try for better propaganda.

My sig says it all. I will not let this die. Facebook and Twitter, my friends, let's unleash the power of social media.

If that statement doesn't convince anyone that NCsoft viewed CoH as an underperforming liability that was dragging down their bottom line into the negative, then I don't know what will.
The reason for this is that while both games were FTP, COH's store prices were reasonable. Aion's were the most money grubbing, gouging I've ever seen. In COH a costume set that could be used by all characters as many times as you want was half the price of an Aion costume piece that could be used by one character only once. In COH the price of an enhancement tray upgrade that doubled your enhancement size from 10 to 20 was half the price of a paying for a 9 slot inventory increase from 108 to 117.

It's an issue of price pointing. If you set your price for an item at $5 and 10,000 ($50,000 earnings) vs $20 and 1000 ($20,000) the lower price is more profitable. It's one of the reasons why in this down economy McDonalds is so profitable. COH's sales down --- the game was FREE. COH's earnings for the store I'd like to see, because Aion's had to be sucking wind. Because of the price pointing I was willing to spend hundreds in COH. Not in Aion.
  9. Thank you all for everything. It has been an amazing and uplifting eight years. You guys literally saved my life. No details, but for a few years things were so bad that logging in got me up in the morning and was the reason I was alive to go to sleep at night. Those few hours each day got me through.

All the dreams, the friends, the smiles, every memory I will treasure and carry with me all my life. The friends I have made here are my 2nd family. It has been the best of times and you saw me through the worst of times and for that I cannot thank you enough.

God bless you all. You'll be in my prayers and in my memories.

But, NCSoft's other MMOs are much larger (apparently, the drop in income from Aion is greater than the total income from CoH). The player base might be fiercely loyal, but many of us weren't interested in NCSoft's other games anyways (oh yay, generic grindfest in a forest!).

I'm pretty sure NCSoft sacrificed CoH merely to improve their bottom line temporarily, until they can report how many truck-fulls of money GW2 has made them.
NCSoft has underestimated the intelligence and involvement of this community and just how far it reaches into the gaming industry. Online comics, game review site writers, and best selling authors are included in our community. The buzz is already out and it is caustic in its criticism.

Petitions, Boycott sites, and the chat on the global channels in game make it clear this isn't a cookie cutter closing of a game, people are ****ed and they're going to be heard.

They were banking we'd be dumb enough to buy GW2 because it's the newest thing out there. I haven't heard one person yet say they were going to THAT game. I won't, my supergroup won't, my Aion legion (quitting in its entirity in protest) won't. No one I've heard on my 10 global channels is.

They've screwed the pooch and are going to pay the piper in the coming year.

I just paid a year sub on July 17th. I want my money back for post-Nov 30. Not credit for another NCSoft POS game.

    Yeah it's one of those days. When I woke up this morning, my first words were "F u c k i n g. B u l l s h i t". No joke.

Anyone else having abnormal changes in behavior?
Went out and bought a 1.75L Captain Morgan and 3 cases of Coca Cola. We'll see how long it lasts.

I haven't drank like this in 6 years.

  16. Two words: BOVINE EXCREMENT

If this was the case then there would be no need for secrecy from the entire staff, no justification for no notice terminations of the staff, no need for the slap in the face no notice of the end for the playerbase. There would have been a prepared notice posted by the Community Rep, the staff would have been given enough notice to pack up and say goodbye.

Again, I say bovine excrement. I doubt your rumor and find it more likely this is just something to try to sidestep the massive NCHate coming their way.

AION did about $33M in the same quarter, as opposed to $47M in the previous quarter.

In other words, CoH was a marginal proposition that was going to continue to be a marginal proposition. AION, on the other hand, they probably believe they can nurse into a big rebound.
I'm quitting Aion effective as tomorrow. Today I'm informing my Aion friends. Suck on that, NCSoft. You'll never get a penny from me again. I've paid literally thousands of dollars for these two games.

    No more.

Based on that, it seems they are banking on GW2 over CoH. And I say you spread the word and DONT let anyone buy or play GW2. Show the evil South Korean NCsoft execs what happens when you fight against Superheroes and villains, for the purpose of "War"!!!
I'll be boycotting everything NCSoft FOREVER.

Farewell Liberty. I don't know what to say. The news is too new, the hurt is too raw. I don't know where I will go but it will not, and never will be, an NC Soft game again.

Damn Guild Wars. Damn it. Damn it to hell.

This has been some of the best times of my life. This game has carried me through times so bad I cannot describe it, save to say it was the worse period of my life, times so bad I considered suicide. I have made one of the best friends I have ever had here.

I will survive. I will carry on. I will miss so many people, and hope that some will carry with me to some other game. One friend in particular I hope to God, and pray to God, I will not lose touch with.

Thank you to the developers and everyone who has worked on this game for the last eight years. Thank you so much.

    Oh God, now I'm crying.

  24. I give up. Good luck, people. I tried about 20 randomly through the post and every one already applied.
  25. I am tickled pink at the blaster, IO set, Incarnate (KoA pets!!!! Squee!!!!), new content, power pool customization, and did I mention blaster (it deserves to be mentioned twice) changes!

    I <3 Issue 24 already.

PS: Will the med pool set be customizable? I have characters that would benefit from using it, but tech doesn't fit with their concept.
