If our input was wanted, we've been offering it for weeks. The opposite of what we asked was given.
This are MY PvP changes. -
Why is bloody hell was it necessary to change base salvage to have the price changes?
Answer: It wasn't.
And it's now to SG Member's PROFIT to take existening base salvage and components and convert for sale on the market. Oh, well done. -

If you can't fix the spawn rate for Spirits can you lower the badge requirement?
I've gone from 13-19 a character and still not gotten that badge. -
Halloween is so much FUN!
Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou! -
You tripled the activation time on ANOTHER Energy Melee attack!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! And it's the first tier attack.
I am aghast, appalled, and angry.
Just when I was starting to play my Inv/EM tank a little again after retiring her. Believe it or not, some of us actually use that power and slot it out for a purpose (like punchvoke with procs).
Nice changes on Invuln, and the rest looks quite interesting, but I'm too mad about yet another 'triple the activation time" to EM to care at the moment.
Edit: I don't play Khelds so I can't comment, but it sounds good. -
1. The Police Drones in Portal Corps courtyard don't work worth a squat. I've seen a GM prance around Portal Corps for a good 5 minutes while teams assembled then fought it and the drones not react at all.
2. If someone ups your plot size and burns through your prestige, you can buy your plot size back down again. This isn't permanent. Sell off additional rooms, if any, to get the space back down to size. Then go into the increase plot size editor, click on the smaller size plot you want, and it will refund the difference in prestige. This has happened to one of my SGs before. -

My guess is it's engineering, not marketing. Don't forget they were going to look at bases too. My guess is some coder opened up the base building code, there was this high, piercing scream and they later found him huddled on the floor, repeating only the words "... the horror... the horror..."
[/ QUOTE ]
Whatcha wanna bet "Hey you, new guy. You get to work on the Base Editor project" is the Code Team's version of hazing its noob coders? -
I suggest that the use of this power be coded to preclude the use of Vengence.
Self Destruct = Reliable, Instant Vengeance Bait
And that will be exploited. -

Dear Positron,
Good afternoon. Thank you for responding to our questions for more information about Issue 13.
And on a side note. Please fix the store so that I can purchase Booster Packs for other players as gifts. I'd like to purchase 10 or so of these for my friends that also play. Plus I'd like to give you my money to help with the development of my favorite game. However, since I only have 1 account and I can't very well purchase 10 Cyborg Packs for 1 account then I guess that I'll have to keep the money that I would have liked to have given to your company.
P.S. Rocket Pack costume items please.
Thank You.

Dear Peregrine Falcon,
Thank you for your feedback. We would LOVE to come up with a way for players to "gift" our Super Boosters to other players. The real problem with this lies in credit card fraud. It may seem like a simple problem, but it's really very complex. Once we have a workable solution that Billing and Customer Service can sign off on, we will allow players to gift Microtransactions post haste.
Yes, yes, Rocket Packs are on Sexy Jay's todo list, I just am not exactly clear on when they will be done.
Hope this clears things up for you a little bit.
[/ QUOTE ]
Positron,
Is there a chance that the NC Soft store could sell these as codes not attributable to an account, to be mailed to the purchasing player (and only to that address)? Then there would be no possibility of fraud and the player could gift the code, just as he could a time card.
Just an idea.
I would also like to give this as a gift. Instead, I'll be giving a VISA gift card, I suspect.
Edit/PS: The boxed letter verification script on the NC Soft purchase site stinks. You need a better font, it's the worst one I've ever seen, and I do a lot of online shopping. It took me 5 tries to get it right. It was turning letters upside down and 'L' was indistiguishable from 'I', 'U' almost indistinguishable from 'V'. Actually, it may be even worse, it DID take me 5 tries, that's a first for me. -

These booster packs just have little perks in them with a few emotes thrown in. Nothing game breaking...
[/ QUOTE ]
Does anyone here besides me remember that when folks complained about the Valentine's Day add-on wedding pack was released, one of the big justifications for it being okay was that it didn't affect gameplay? That if you didn't want to buy it, you weren't missing out on anything, because emotes and costume pieces don't give you any advantage?
Now, we have add-ons being sold that do affect gameplay. Subpar or not, there's no denying that characters with the jetpack and self-destruction powers can do things--non-screen candy things that do make a difference in the game--that characters without them can't.
I remember a time not too long ago when even selling costume parts would have been thought way beyond the line. I remember a time when someone would have been called crazy for even suggesting that it could lead to selling powers. Yet here we are.
I'm genuinely curious, now that we've moved the line from gameplay-affecting to game-breaking, where is your limit of tolerance? Is everything fair game? What if they start selling access to new zones? Selling access to new archetypes? Selling access to task force/trial rewards? Straight out selling influence/infamy/prestige for cash?
I know, "Wow, that sure is melodramatic, Tony, that would never happen." That's what I thought about selling powers, too, but here we are.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think you are being melodramatic, Tony.
I was very surprised to learn that the Cyborg pack had a power in it. I had not read the advertising because I had no interest in purchasing the pack, don't have any cyborg characters.
Likewise, the recent temp flight power with game card surprised me as well. The decision to sell the power directly only made sense in light of that the decision to sell it at outlets had already been made. But it is not game breaking or largely game affecting. It still surprised me, I never thought the devs would sell powers.
Even though from a marketing standpoint I realize that tying Flight with a gamecard as an alternative to a gimped trial account is the best way to hook a new player. It's brilliant.
At least with a flight pack, the power isn't as game affecting as a nuke. Any AT can pick up the ability to fly from a power pool, but a scrapper just isn't supposed to be able to nuke. This is game affecting and in a big way.
The inclusion of Self Destruction demonstrates that the developers listened when players said they wanted more than came in the Valentines Day pack in the next one, and have moved the line of what is acceptable, what is not game breaking to them.
Yes, I had no interest in the Cyborg pack.... Then a dark voice whispered to me that my blasters could double-nuke. I haven't gone out and bought it yet but that voice won't shut up. And that kind of impetus will drive sales more than costumes will.
Edit/Add: I bought the Valentines Day pack for 2 accounts, I spoke out in favor of the flight packs being for sale online. I'm all for NC Soft making money to bring more content to the game. Like Tony, I'll be watching where the line is drawn to see if it moves any more. -

Without pulling any punches, it's just retarded to rent a power for a month when free ones that do the same are available.

If I get this wrong, someone please correct me:
Villainside has [u]severa[u]l 2-hour flightpacks, and one flashback that will regrant one.
Heroeside has [u]just one[u] 2-hour flightpack and no flashback to regrant it. (And it has Firebase Zulu and the Shard Realms)
So yes, there is a reason. The question is, is it worth $60/yr? -

Quick note: Don't think for a moment that those upcoming competitors won't have higher system requirements than COH. People understandably get upset when an update causes their performance to go down on their machines, and I don't know about you but I've got a lot of friends who are playing on older or less powerful machines who are still playing COH, settings turned down, because they like it so much (low FPS and all). They won't be able to play those competitors, guaranteed. If they could've upgraded their machines (or bought new ones), they would've done so already.

Too true. My husband likes to try other games, currently he's playing Conan. That game's storage requirements are so big it wouldn't fit in the space left on his harddrive. To keep his current games AND play Conan... he bought a large, separate harddrive and now runs all his games on THAT while running all his other programs off his old harddrive.
Me, I'm sticking to COH, and always have for the last 4 years. -
The jet pack goes into effect immediately for 30 days.
I just got one (a birthday gift from American_Valor) and put it into play, and it's working just fine. My account is prepaid up for the next 5 or 6 months.
Now... Sexy Jay has to make us some back costume options of backpacks or our characters Jetpack and Jetpack Envy are going to be really sad when our jetpacks go away. -

Because pissing off 100 to 600 players for something the develops had left broken without any early warnings is a good thing?
[/ QUOTE ]
They had warnings. The IO's are labled unique so anyone who slotted multiple copies pretty much had to know that they where using an exploit that would go away. Fortunately the devs are being nice and warning players about it rather than just rolling it live like they do for the typical exploit fix.
[/ QUOTE ]
Previous fixes did not delete IOs, they left them in situ, but with no effect, for the player to later remove with a respec. -

So, are Freespecs dead?
[/ QUOTE ]
Check the dev tracker. Positron has already posted to the effect that all normal avenues for a respec, including freespecs, will remain available.
The specific reason that was given for not offering a freespec about the Gaussian thing is that there were about 1000 CHARACTERS, not accounts, that were affected. Consider how alt-happy some folks are, that could easily amount to only a few hundred players out of some 135,000.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or 750, or 500, but whatever... a few hundred players is a lot of unhappy players, actually. Posting advance notice of the effect that this patch will have (Lighthouse's post) and putting up the Freespec purchase button shows that they are aware of this. Advance warning and the ability for players to do something about it is a lot better than the storm of "It was a unique, tough doody!" and cancelled accounts.
And for the record, no, I'm pretty sure I don't even have a Gaussian's unique on any of my characters. -

5. Freespecs Is this the end of them? I will be forthright: I was disheartened that there was no Freespec for all the power tweaks and changes lately, in particular when there were changes to 4 of 9 Energy Melee powers. I felt that merited a Freespec, I'm sure others had their own pet power changes they felt the same. There has been a lot of balancing lately and we've been left to use whatever methods of Respec we have left - and now to pay for them. So, are Freespecs dead?
[/ QUOTE ]
Positron indicated in a previous post that freespecs will continue to be available, as long as there are power changes of sufficient magnitude to warrant one.
As for my own personal thoughts on this service, I don't see myself using it in the foreseeable future, since $10 in my opinion is quite steep. But I suppose that for those who want to take advantage of it and have no other means of changing a character build (maybe they've blown all their previous respecs), it's nice to have.
[/ QUOTE ]
Glad to hear they aren't going away. I somehow missed Posi's post.
I have no intention of using the service either. I'll freely pay $10 for a special game expansion like the Wedding Pack, but not for something I can get in game. It's just one of those things with me, sort of like not paying for influence. -
After discussion among friends (and being told to "calm down") here are my thoughts with some points refined from discussion on Purchasable Respecs:
1. Overpriced Pt. 1: $10 seems a lot to pay for an in-game item. By comparison, Character Name Changes and Server Transfers are not available in game. For an in-game item, this should be cheaper.
2. Overpriced Pt. 2 Also by comparison, players can ([u]unethically and in violation of the EULA[u]) buy currency at an astounding monetary rate (from dirty, rotten scoundrels) and then buy several respec recipes from Wentworths/Black Market. This makes no sense, don't give them encouragement to do so, lower the price and encourage people to use this service.
3. Convenience: For those out of Trial Respecs and Vet Respecs with no Freespec or Vetspec in sight, no high level character to earn currency, noone in game to give them currency, or no desire to use Wentworths/Black Market this will be a convenience.
4. Convenience Pt. 2 In the Immediate short term this is particularly true as there are likely players who will want a Respec any way they can get it to get Gaussian unique IOs out of their builds before the current build on Test goes live. (The pricing and supply/demand of Respec recipes at Wentworths/Black Market will probably be nastily skewed for awhile)
Edit-Add/PS: The billing server has been timing out on me for the last 2 weeks when I've been trying to buy extra character slots . All the players I've talked to says "It's down and been down" and I've been assured that it is working. That's worth checking because if it doesn't work for me, for whom else is it not working? -

I have to say the jetpack looks very cool, and is fun. My friend American Valor got me the card for my birthday yesterday and I applied it to my account, so I get to play with the jetpack. VERY nifty for my tech heroes!
Now if I hadn't gone and prepaid for 6 months of game time I'd buy a stack of these and make it a permanent thing.....
Still might.

I don't feel I wasted my money and have no animosity at all about expanding the full game to everyone. -
This is the part of the announcement that caught my eye:

Uniting the City of Heroes universe enables the development team to focus on other features slated to come in future installments. Improvements to Supergroup Bases and raids, an offline character reward system, and the previously revealed Mission Maker are just some of the systems that will see the benefits of a unified City of Heroes game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Improvements to Supergroup Bases It's about time! So glad to see this, and I'm surprised noone has been speculating on THIS in the thread yet.
And Raids There is a whole segment of the game community that has been clamoring for this since COV came out. This was one of the key features of COV and it is very important that this promise is going to be kept.
Offline Character Reward System No guesses
Mission Maker Now THIS really excites me and I hope it is coming in the next issue. -
I agree... I'm kind of disappointed to see the old powers recycled for a new reward, and think it would be better to see a new choice. That said, I'll take a power and be glad for it. Something is better than nothing.
[ QUOTE ]
How about for the 57 month Vet badge (weapon rack)vet power we see Iron Sword or Holy Shotgun.
[/ QUOTE ]
The complete list of temp powers is enormous and could be used to make up several vet rewards, not just one if the devs want to go that route (perhaps themed lists). Everything from Electromagnetic Grenades, Holy Shotgun, Hyperstealth.... there are dozens from mission lists and out of the Safeguard/Mayhem Weapons Deals.
PS: I bought the COV preorder and I'm happy to see the helmets come out as a reward.... for everyone. -
There are no respecs that allow you to change your primary or secondary.
