    My new Necro/Poison mastermind!

I only used the Magic pack for her cape, gloves, and stockings, but I constantly use the card trick emote and the Mystic Fortune power.

    -Rachel-
  2. These are some interesting ideas that I'm certain would NEVER fly. =-3

I'd love 'em! But people who AREN'T 63 month vets would get PISSED when they learn they get less time than vets.

    -Rachel-
  3. Toss in the various Arachnos Powersets and I'll dive in here happily.

I'd love to make a few Widows and Spiders that aren't dressed in 'standard' uniform.

Perhaps they haven't done it because they're not sure how you should unlock it? I'd say put a MASSIVE ticket count on them. 500 tickets to put a HEAT or VEAT into your missions!

    -Rachel-
  4. I'm all for it! Giving Inspirations isn't terribly market or game-breaking.

    -Rachel-
  5. Okay... so let me get this straight.

Every time a foe dies there's a percentile roll to check if a recipe is dropped. The percentile varies by the type of the mob in question.

After a positive roll occurs a 1-41 lottery roll comes up to see what kind of recipe it is.

Followed by a weighted roll on the appropriate table (common, uncommon, rare) to see what the actual recipe is.

Could you run the numbers on a spreadsheet assuming double the normal drop rate?

    5.2224% for minions
    10.666% for lieutenants
    16% for bosses

I'd like to see how the average Farmer in Farming mode would make out in total gained influence/infamy off recipe sales.

    -Rachel-
  6. Sorry, Jack! Your thoughtful and insightful post went unnoticed in the flurry of drama I was caught in. I'm sorry!

I actually don't -know- the drop-rates offhand. I'm not precisely sure what the appropriate increase in rate would need to be.

But given the idea of dropping the influence gain to 0 they're only adding to the supply of recipes and salvage. Sure they'll make boatloads of money off the items they sell, but it won't add new money to the system.

Increased supply to meet the steady demand with somewhat lowered inflation.

The biggest problem -I- can see is getting the point across to the farmers that kicking themselves into this mode of gaining is a good idea. So many will see the 0 inf part and immediately back away screaming and moaning over how unfair it is to give up one reward for another.

Which, to anyone who has ever done game balance, is pretty much mandatory...

    -Rachel-
  7. I think that'd be good to have, too. Yes. =-3

    -Rachel-
  8. How about not letting people submit ratings 'til the arc is done?

They could leave, submit comments, or report the arc to Devs. But you can't Rate it 'til you beat it.

    -Rachel-

For people who want to powerlevel and farm, just leave them alone. They haven't done anything to you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except increase the rate of inflation, chase me out of zones, annoy the piss out of me, send me random tells, throw repeated blind invites in my face, and gotten uppity when I dared to tell them 'No. I don't want to be a bridge'.

I've stated, repeatedly, how Farming affects the market. I'm not going to get back into that. Suffice it to say they DO affect anyone who uses the market. They DO affect the casual gamer (which our game consists primarily of)

I'm glad you think it's a horrible suggestion. Really, I am!~ It means you know how bad it makes me feel to post it, as a person who REALLY dislikes the idea of farming.

    -Rachel-
  10. By telling me to change zones you're telling me to play different content. Tina McIntyre's arcs generally focus on the northern end of Peregrine Island. So that is more than a 30 second effect on my play.

Great! You don't Farm! Then voice your opinion of how this would effect farming/the market/you and add to the discussion.

When I'm looking through the MA arcs and see reams of Mah Arc which consists of one giant Freakshow room and the story text of 'XP' it's more farming I'm forced to become aware of. Making the folders would alleviate that.

Please! Feel free to state an opinion on the topic at hand, but don't derail the thread.

    -Rachel-
  11. Okay! Well! Part 1!

It could have some impact. Players who choose to get more drops rather than static influence have the option of doing so. Any person who does so helps to lower the amount of incoming influence. Plus they don't have to spam for team invites. The latter might be an incentive for farmers to use the Farm Mode function to save themselves time.

Yes, I realize EVERYONE likes the 'Get it all as if I had 8 people on the team while I'm solo' idea. But it would never fly because it's an exploit of the system. You don't understand how and I don't feel like explaining it again. So let's just call it a compromise between all or nothing.

I'm glad you'd like to have the folders option. I think most people would be happy with it!

Actually I did a search for farming arcs just to do a head count on them. I found only one Villain 'farm' arc, 0 Hero 'farm' arcs, and about 15 Neutral ones that hadn't been taken down yet.

But then I found a pile of 'Not a Farm' arcs and thought I'd share it with ya.

    [ QUOTE ]
So far the best way -I've- found to avoid farming arcs is to highlight a search for heroes or villains content and search for Farm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The bolded word means I DIDN'T play any farm arcs, by the way.

    -Rachel-
  12. That's not entirely true, Munki... There are forms of guaranteed security. Not TOTAL security. But Guaranteed. There's a difference there.

Guaranteed security means that if something goes wrong and it's not your fault directly, someone else foots the bill on the problem. Insurance is a form of guaranteed security.

The Devs could never guarantee the security of such a transfer (which would be ripe for abuse). So they'll probably never do it.

Then factor in the possible future revenue lost as accounts are consolidated... Yeah. It's just not likely to happen.

I didn't say it had to be, I said usually. And I'm right. Fear is a bad reason not to do something. It's how people that are weak act.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Call it fear if you like, but others call it prudence. I don't let my child play with matches and lighters. Most wouldn't call me overly fearful, it's simply prudent not to.

[/ QUOTE ] Well you definitely perverted what I was trying to say, good job on that. There is a difference between common sense and what I'm talking about.

For example, refusing to use the internet because your personal info might be stolen is ignorance. If you pay attention to what you are doing the chances of that happening are extremely small. Letting your kid play with matches would be so stupid that you would probably go to jail if anything bad happened. I'm sure you can understand the difference.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But just so long as you're careful about it you should be okay. You can watch your kid playing with matches to keep him from setting fire to the neighbor's cat.

    Prudence. =-3

This just isn't a good idea because of the lack of guaranteed security in it. No.

    -Rachel-
  14. Actually I was laughing at Munki bringing it back. I already explained, earlier in the thread, why my position changed. I still don't think the Devs would go for it, though this idea might be a bit more palatable to them, since it balances the higher rewards gained with some lost rewards.

I can laugh at myself. =-3

    -Rachel-
  15. [ QUOTE ]
This was a bad idea the first time it was posted.

This was a bad idea the last time it was posted.

This is still a bad idea.

It will continue to be a bad idea.

Farming throws off the market. It exploits a very small amount of content with low risk/high reward ratio. It annoys people who don't farm or dislike the idea of it when they get tells asking to farm or pad or bridge.

Farming is not suggested by the Devs. Farming is not a well liked practice and, for that reason, the Devs have consistently altered the way things are handled to -avoid- farming.

Asking the Devs to put something in the game solely for the purpose of farming when they have time and again shown that they don't condone the act is a waste of time. I'll be bookmarking this response to copy-paste to all further farming threads.

    Lulz!

    Anyway, Yan-Yan!

I think that's another workable idea. Obviously I don't know the drop rates and metrics well enough to extrapolate an appropriate percentage, much less a variable one. Though I do like the concept.

    -Rachel-
  16. Sooo.... You'll never respond to my posts so long as they are in topics you wouldn't post in anyway...?

Why not just say 'No' instead of trying to get cute with it?

Regardless of what I seem to be saying. regardless of what I might be saying..

Please. Post your reasons for thinking this is a bad idea. Show me the negatives so I can address them. I won't accuse you of harrassment because it won't be harrassment so long as it's constructive criticisms, rather than vitriol.

Then realize that I'm not trying to say 'all f/-\rm4rz must leeve mah game!'

    Then Re-Write your response.

    Proof Read It.

    Then post it.

    -Rachel-

    *edit*
I'd like to apologize for the snappiness in this post. I was taken aback and put on the defensive by the vitriol launched at me from someone who obviously didn't understand the suggestion. Apologies.
  19. Thank you, SocioAlchemist. Sadly, this isn't the thread to discuss a decent money sink. Though maybe we could talk about it in private messages, come up with something, and post a thread on it? Feel Free to PM me if you like.

As for not finding Farming Arcs?

So far the best way -I've- found to avoid farming arcs is to highlight a search for heroes or villains content and search for Farm. Lots of people add (This is not a Farm Arc) or (Don't come here for Farming). The vast majority of Farm Arcs are Neutral, so they get the most exposure.

The folder Solution would still alleviate that problem fully, though. =-3

    -Rachel-
  20. Actually, SocioAlchemist, at this point I've come to terms that farmers will continue to exploit the reward system as I understand it's been structured. I've come to accept that nothing I say or do will stop it, and that you and several others will just naysay whatever logic I bring to the board. Whether it's inflationary or sociopolitical.

So this is a suggestion to minimize the damage Farming does. And it -does- do damage. You'll never convince me otherwise. But at least this way the Inflationary damage is mitigated to some extent, the Supply And Demand ratio is altered a BIT more towards supply, and people who hate seeing 'Farm!' can finally get rid of it.

This isn't me flipping sides. This is me capitulating to you and the others and saying 'How about this as a compromise?'

    -Rachel-
  21. Actually I have no problem with people playing level 50 toons. I have the three issues I've listed above.

Seriously. What do you want? I took the suggestion for 'Let Solo Players Spawn More enemies!' and the 'Difficulty Rating' thread's core ideal (Make Farming Easier for Me) and attempted to make it more palatable. Farming for Rares and for Recipes becomes FAR Easier. The prices on the market will drop because the supply is staying steady or increasing while the amount of influence in the system is no longer glutted.

We'll stop seeing the LFF! LFMFF! spam in broadcast on Peregrine/Grandville. The only thing left was getting the 'Farm Meh!' arcs organized in such a way so that people who don't WANT to farm don't have to see them when they do a search for arcs.

What exactly is the downside of this suggestion? If a Farmer decides he needs influence instead of more recipes (which is insane if you ask me, since Recipes and Salvage sell hardcore) he can kill Farming Mode and grab a team.

I don't see why you're opposed to this suggestion other than as a method of harassing me, Terp. You're making bold inferences on my intent in order to discredit me, you use my username specifically to caution other users 'Don't be like -her-! Noone will like you!' and you make ad-hominem attacks rather than discussing the benefits and drawbacks of the idea itself.

Please. Just stop replying to anything I say in any thread. Ever.
    -Rachel-
  22. I'd really appreciate it, Terp, if you'd stop harassing me. It's getting to the point where I just want to report every reply you post to one of my ideas or arguments. Directly posting my username in your replies singles me out above any other person to whom you might be referring and is against forum rules.

I did not use the 'Farming Suggestion' to get attention for this thread. My suggestion of 'Farming Mode' is an honest to GOD Suggestion.

Yes. Players running from level 1 to level 50 WILL ADD money to the market. But compared to the amount that a level 50 character adds over the cuorse of a few farm runs it's a paltry amount. Why? Because a character leveling from 1-50 will spend millions on SOs and DOs. Even if they buy IOs at 35 they'll still be gaining slots AFTER that point.

At 50 you have no real prize to spend money on except purple recipes. This suggestion would allow a solo farmer to run missions against a full slew of enemies like he was on an 8 man team AND increase his drop rates.

He won't get any influence, but he can make that up on the market, Can't he? I mean, he -is- farming, right?

    -Rachel-
  23. It would definitely isolate the farmers, that's true. But they'd still team with friends to chit-chat while they farm and things of that nature.

But really, farming isn't about Balance. It's about the rewards. So give them the full XP for level 46 people they drag along as perma-bridges. Let them get the increased drops. And let them actually -help- the market, by increasing the supply without increasing the currency.

    -Rachel-

    Nope.

It effects the market through inflation by increasing the amount of influence in the game.

Avoiding farm teams by changing zones? Don't tell me how to play the game while I'm giving you alternative options to pad your team to get more drops. And that doesn't help when I'm looking through Mish Architect arcs, anyhow.

More Items = Awesome. More Inf in the market = Bad.

  24. The internet is full of dumb people and trusting people. While I was stil playing Diablo 2 my account got 'hacked'. I found out later that my older brother logged on while I was asleep and moved all of my equipment and Stones of Jordan to a friend's mule character.

Doesn't have to be about having a good password or being 'dumb'.
