Tht still requires you to make and publish a mission. which is not a requirement to understand the basic functionality of teaming or utilizing the MA system.
While I would LOVE a Pocket D terminal I wouldn't want one with these steep limits or non-co-op-teaming.
Most of my 'Villain' characters are actually Heroes in disguise. Good people trying to help out the downtrodden people of the Isles by fighting against Arachnos and the Skulls, the Hellions and Family, and Snakes and Tsoo, and every other group that abuses them.
Why, from a roleplaying standpoint, should these players not be allowed to team with Blueside heroes?
HELL! I don't even recognize the MA arcs that I've done In-Character as a simulation! We've been specifically running them as if our characters had gone to all the locations. As if the Architect Hologram was a new contact.
So why shouldn't my heroes and my other heroes be allowed to team? Because I want to play a Brute to 50 instead of Another scrapper while teaming with my boyfriend's Peacebringer?

Players that have abused the reward system egregiously may lose benefits they have gained - leading up to and perhaps including losing access to the characters power-leveled in this fashion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Though I believe that action is necessary, I would dispute that this is necessary or even warranted.
I get the impression that MOST of the players, especially ones who came here new to experience this content, have taken part in at least some form of power-leveling.
I feel to remove what they perceive they earned, not only in effort but in real money spent, would cause a serious reduction in population. There are precedents for this.
Just a thought.
[/ QUOTE ]
My boyfriend and I both Heartily agree. Though I imagine it will likely be aimed at the most flagrant offenders, characters who gained a level or two, maybe so much as five might not be regressed to level 1, but characters that grew 15 or more levels, perhaps?

...you should be able to do in your SG base. Make an architect mission? There should be a base object for that. Make or join a PvP match? There should be a base object for that. Change your costume? Base object. Change your difficulty? Base object. Sell junk? Base object. Turn in merits? Base object. Etc., etc. More use for our bases is good.
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly: I'd love this. Sure there are members of the population who would stay in their SG base all the time running MA arcs or doing arena battles with other players.
But how many members of the population -would-? Probably a small percentage. Why?
A) Many players don't bother with Supergroups
B) Many players that have Supergroups are sociable enough to talk to and play with other people.
C) Base Costs should be high to initially build the objects in question
Really... There's no reason NOT to let people make their bases a bigger part of their game. Some players RP that they aren't RUNNING mission architect missions. They deal with the stories of the arcs for roleplaying purposes and enjoy themselves.
They could just as easily RP the MA terminal in the base as a Super-Computer Ala Batman or Birdman.
Or a Holographic training simulator, like the X-Men or Star Trek.
So yes. I'd love to see more options put in bases, please!

He means 2 versions of the same object.
Like the Clickable Antique Case and the Destructible one, but there's only a Clickable Desk, not one you can break.
-Rachel- -
... Why do things need to be 3 slotted for accuracy? I find 2 to be overkill, most times...
-Rachel- -
Y'know that Energy tank versus Energy argument?
Invulns are the kings of S/L resist.
Fire Tank versus Fire Thorn Casters is similar (but not the same as) Invuln Vs Dual Blades.
-Rachel- -
Honestly? Just slot your active powers down as close as you can get to either 6end per use or the ED 'Cap'.
My fire blaster's got 2 end SOs in almost every power. My shield tanker has more in some attacks. My Dominator doesn't bother, but doesn't have stamina either.
-Rachel- -
Actually the Standard Rant is this
All the powers must be designed from the beginning. You can't alter them in any way shape or form because everything is 'baked in'.
So being able to edit your 'Shape Shifted' forms isn't possible with the way the current system works. This is why all Stone Tanks or Brutes look identical in their tier 9 power, even if the character is only 4 feet tall outside of the tier 9. It completely replaces the character model with a static model.
-Rachel- -
In that case Standard power Customization rant applies... =-(
And I think that's too powerful, to have it be unresistable. I realize that it doesn't -seem- like much, but it really is a lot. That and it's hard to explain in Roleplay or from a story perspective.
-Rachel- -
More the latter than the former, Pyrus, though both were involved, likely.
If you're discussing using the bodies available in game then it might almost be doable. It would simply replace your character model with the appropriate replacement model.
The issue I have here is the body sizes. Currently we have Male, Female, and Huge Male.
So all Females would turn into the Male or Huge model for the Physical Form power?
Also what kind of damage is 'Shapeshift'? Is it a new energy type? Smashing/Lethal?

You listed Pike twice.
Aside from that... a Pole-Arm set would be sweet. Just so long as they also make 2 new powersets that are modern or futuristic in design.
[/ QUOTE ]
You went through my whole post, found one accidental double-entry.... and then ignored the message that there is simply too much variation in style of use (if not shape) to make a single dedicated 'polearm' set which everyone will enjoy?
That's why we have the Frankengun. Because it combines soooo many different weapons into one attack chain in order for the set to be more than 'Shoot. Shoot More. Shoot Again' because it's only -one- type of gun.
So No. I'd prefer we move away from polearms. I'd be fine with Staves so long as Quarterstaff style and Longstaff style were presented with their own powersets.
I'd LOVE to see Street Fighting, Psychic Melee, Radiation Melee and Armor, Electric Control, Clone Mastermind, Dual Pistol Blast, Poison Secondary for Corruptors, Dark Control for Controllers with a very light emphasis on Control with Dark Miasma offered to Trollers as a Secondary.

The Devs would have to create:
New Skeletons
New Powers
New Sound Effects
Of those three the first is incredibly time-consuming and difficult. Because when you create a new skeleton you must also create:
Run Animations
Run Diagonal Forward Left Animations
Run Diagonal Forward Right Animations
Strafe Left Animations
Strafe Right Animations
Run Backwards Animations
Run Backwards Diagonal Left Animations
Run Backwards Diagonal Right Animations
Jump Start Animations
Jump Peak Animations
Jump Landing Animations
Flight-Lift-Off Animations
Fly Forward Animations
Fly Forward Diagonal Left Animations
Fly Forward Diagonal Right animations
Fly Strafe Left Animations
Fly Strafe Right Animations
Fly Backwards Animations
Fly Backwards Diagonal Left Animations
Fly Backwards Diagonal Right Animations
Fly Up Animations
Fly Down Animations
Fly Land Animations
Then add the "Switch From Relaxed to Combat Ready" Animation to each of those. And then a Combat Ready version of each of those. And then add a "Switch From Combat Ready to Releaxed" Animation for all of them, as well.
So No. Shapeshifting takes WAY too much effort for way too litle gain right now.
Also. Bumping your threads is against forum rules. Use of the Search function would -also- be useful. As you'd have learned that this is a commonly suggested set which is always responded to with some variation of the information presented above.

I dont think limiting them to 1/spawn is necessary
I would like to see them pulled from the level 1-10 range spawn tables.
When you have only 2-3 attacks and those without any reasonable slotting, the -recharge make things much more unfun than it needs to be.
[/ QUOTE ]
This I agree with. Bump them up to 15-30, for me. =-3

Frankly I don't think Polearms as a weapon should be used in the game. However -if- staves must be used I'd like two methods of use. Classical Quarterstaff and Chinese Longstaff.

Purchased accounts cost the RMTers money. Every time someone hits 'Spam' it'll kill that one. I'm truly hoping they make the mistake of continuing the spam. And their costs rise, their employees get less money, they charge more, and die out that way.
Glee.

CoH2 might never be 'needed'... But I, for one, would welcome a new engine for our vehicle of amusement.
I'd love for the Devs NOT to be constrained by the limitations of a game engine developed over half a decade ago.
However I -don't- want to lose what we have, either.
Whether or not we get a new engine by issue 20, I'll still label that issue: CoH2.0
Though I'd like a new one!

Xaphan and Junkie both kind of got what I was aiming for.
Eventually the game's engine will be, ultimately, defunct. The graphics will not get prettier, the innovations to gameplay will reach their limit. At that point a new engine capable of doing everything the current engine is capable of (and more) would be the route to go.
Port over all the hard data from the game itself (locations, textures, missions, contacts, EVERYTHING) and update the engine to the new hotness.
They could keep CoH running on Legacy servers and starts up CoH2 on new servers with character transfer ability between the two, so people who've been with City forever can move over to the new stuff. People who HAVEN'T been around as long or don't have machines capable of running CoH2 can keep playing on CoH itself, which is, was, and I imagine will be still an amazing game.
