I think training Enh are useless and should be taken out back and shot. They should just have DOs go from lvl 1- 25. Training enhancments are part of the problem. I tend to slot my first two attacks with 3 accuracy and 3 end reduction right off the bat....and it's like I slotted nothing at all. I still miss constantly and run out of endurance every fight. Having useless enhancments is not helping the early game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except for two typoes that are fixed in my quote I agree with JDouble. Training Origin enhancements don't really -do- anything. Well they do, but it's not a noticeable benefit. Typically I run without slotting anything until 12 so I can slot DOs, and the difference is staggering.
However I'll also note that levels 1-12 with DOs would just be pathetically easy. =-3
-Rachel- -
I actually think it's meant to be like that.
The tier 9 for Fire Armor is also a self-rez, though admittedly it dishes out some nice damage rather than a stun... Would you also change Fire Armor's Rez into a tier 9 uber armor?
I always thought that was part of the lure of both sets. The ability to get back up in the middle of a hard fight -without- hogging the Empath's endurance.

And by all means. Stop being insulting, you'll likely be banned for it, eventually.
[/ QUOTE ]
Given the fact that you insulted me first in this and other threads, and given the fact that you have flamed the OP and others to hell and back in this thread, I will most likely be banned after you are, Fuzzy Pink Cthulhu.
[ QUOTE ]
Until then stop complaining about 'GOD MODE or NONE'
[/ QUOTE ]
When I start taking orders from you you'll be first to know, Fuzzy Pink Cthulhu. Till then, get over yourself.... or use an Inspiration for that. As we all know, Insps. fix everything.I hope you do not slot your powers, enhancements are a waste of resources, with so many INSPIRATIONS out there....!

Psssssssssst! I didn't say jack about you before your first post! =-3
You came in and the last paragraph of your first post was the following.
[ QUOTE ]
p.s Artic, just ignore "rachel." She showed her colors well and truly in the main forums' MA thread; trust me giving her more time is just opening yourself up to more of her trying to tell you what you should be doing every second you're in the game.

Revisionist History For the Lose!
And if by 'Flamed the OP' you mean 'returned spin with dismissive attitude and vitriol with negativity' you're right!
Inspirations don't fix everything. But they would solve the OPs problem without wasting a ton of Dev Team time to make a set even you've said would be pointless to create (Thanks to your tight builds)
Honestly? I don't -want- a reply to this post. So it's not me flaming you or trying to call you out. I've very quickly cut apart what -tiny- argument you had about Binary mez and your declaration that I was insulting first.
-Rachel- -
And don't forget the two arrows pointing UP at your crotch from the knees.
-Rachel- -
That sounds great to me. =-3
I, like most players, dislike Intagible powers with a vengeance. But it seemed such an important power to the set for style. But I'm happy to drop it in favor of Dark Pit!

Blind from Illusion Control
[ QUOTE ]
Painfully Blinds a single targeted foe so severely that he is rendered helpless. Blind is so bright that additional foes may also be blinded, though they will not take any damage, and attacking them will free them from the effects.
[/ QUOTE ]
As a Tier 2... Maybe swap the tier 1 and 2 powers? Butagain, make the area -tiny- and lower the mag from the standard 3 to a 2 and it shouldn't be -too- big a deal. No damage on the secondary targets and a % chance of effecting multiples, perhaps?
-Rachel- -
Scooped by me >.>

Council Hoverbots, too!
-Rachel- -
Hmmm... Plant Melee...
Tier 1: Oaken Might: Single Targte Moderate Smashing damage, increased damage versus objects
Tier 2 Nettle Strike: Moderate Damage attack with minor Toxic DoT from poison-ivy wrapped limbs
Tier 3: Rooted Grasp: Single target High Damage + Immobilize
Tier 4: Taunt
Tier 5: Sweeping Branches: Cone Moderate Smashing/Lethal with Knockdown and minor toxic DoT
Tier 6: Build Up
Tier 7: Hurl Limb: Single Target High Lethal Damage attack
Tier 8: Crashing Fall: Single Target Extreme Damage minor Toxic DoT
Tier 9: Roots: Wide PBAoE (10-12 feet?) High Damage + Immob.
I'd play it >.>
-Rachel-
*edit* I was asleep, okay!? It was late at night for me 'cause I've been getting up at 5 and 6am CST to make phone calls and meetings. Lay off! =-3 -
Tier 1: Dark Pit (Make it a smaller Aoe with a lower stun mag than normal... Mag 2 would be good, I think?
Tier 2: Petrifying Gaze (Make it a Moderate to High damage Hold and it's golden)
Tier 3: Tar Patch (AoE Slow with SOME Debuffing (Based on the AT's modifiers)
Tier 4: Tenebrous Tentacles
Tier 5: Fearsome Gaze
Tier 6: Shadowfall
Tier 7: Black Hole
Tier 8: Dark Binding (Toggle Targeted AoE Stun Mag 3)
Tier 9: Dark Servant (Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe strip Twilight Grasp for another attack or Control effect?)
Could work with the Dark Assault set fairly well?
-Rachel- -
Dang it! >_< You're right. Dark Pit is in the Blast Set. Give me a few and I'll cobble something together...
-Rachel- -
[ QUOTE ]
Keep trying, it's very cute.
How about this. When you start challenging yourself to use more common sense and less snark perhaps I'll indulge you and your little challenges.
[/ QUOTE ]
To me this reads as "I can't, because your logic is airtight. However admitting to that fact would prove I was bluffing and insulting you for no reason. Instead I'll be insulting and degrading as I have been since I entered this thread, deriding your intelligence, ability, and common sense."
That about right?
-Rachel- -
Actually one is ranged and the other is melee... I think Life Drain is the ranged one >.>
Honestly? I'd still like to see Dark Miasma ported into a Dark Control set to go along with this one. Drop a couple of powers (Darkest Night, Howling Twilight, and Twilight Grasp) to slip in a single target Immob, Tenebrous Tentacles, and a target toggle AoE Stun power (think Telekinesis but no Repel and it's a stun) and you're -golden- for an awesome control set.
-Rachel- -
I like how you were snarky and insulting there, and still look down on my common sense. Yet, somehow, you're unable to go through with my challenge.
If I truly lack common sense, then you should be able to tear that post apart with a little logic. Why haven't you?
And there's a difference between being snarky in response to having your post spun into something it isn't and chasing after someone through various threads whilst badmouthing them. Which is what you've done...
-Rachel-
*edited for typo -
Psssssst! Didn't you quit two issues ago?
Anyway. Yes. I was snarky when I said it was like talking to a brick wall. Because in response to both my own post and Justaris' post the OP ignored that we disagreed with him and instead tried to spin it into support for himself.
My comment on the Deletion of the Rogue Isles was part of a -long- thread in which I discussed the feasibility of a game world in which 'Goody Two Shoes' and 'Evil' characters were not separated by a silly attempt at backstory manipulation with no point.
And thank you! =-3 We're currently picking our Engine out and have our leveling mechanics pre-tested. What do you think, Panda3D (Python's a pretty easy language to learn overall) or NeoAxis? It's a prettier engine and most of the utilities are in place (it's in beta) but without a decent support section it could be a stumbling block...
I'm glad you think I lack Common Sense. Now by all means: Dissect the post above yours where I discussed the infeasibility of non-binary control effects based on player survivability. And then come up with a system all your own where the issues I highlighted -aren't- issues!
-Rachel- -
Damn! Someone notified the moderators about that post before I could. Dash Cunning, that.
But, for those who seem to have difficulty understanding I will, again, explain why Mez Effects are Binary.
[ QUOTE ]
Option 1: Mez Effects are Binary.
Pros: Easy to Handle, Fast Activation, Fast Resolution, Useful Damage Mitigation
Cons: The reverse is true when applied on a Player Character
[/ QUOTE ]
Under the First Option players can instantly lockdown foes without being hit with Alpha Strikes from NPCs assuming they have fairly decent Accuracy. Unfortunately NPCs can do the same to PCs, assuming they get the drop on them. Status Protection effects such as Mez Toggles or Break Free effects work flawlessly.
[ QUOTE ]
Option 2: Mez Effects are not Binary
Pros: When hit with a Mez Effect a player can resist the full effect of the mez over time. Either buying the characters a few precious seconds to attack in or avoiding the effect altogether
Cons: NPCs may also avoid being mezzed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Under Option 2, a player who relies on Mez effects is functionally up a creek without a paddle. Enemies are able to fire off several attacks as a group at the Mezzer before they are locked down. Likely reducing him or her into a pink mush.
If you can -suggest- some non-binary method of applying mez effects that DOESN'T kill the playstyle of Controllers and Dominators or any other Mez-based class the Devs create, by all means! Post it in the Suggestion Forums!
Until then stop complaining about 'GOD MODE or NONE'
And by all means. Stop being insulting, you'll likely be banned for it, eventually. And contrary to some people's beliefs I'm nowhere near so vindictive as to want that to happen.
-Rachel-
*edited for appropriate punctuation -
This has been suggested at least 5 times that I'm aware of. And, save for the third, each one has been of successively greater worth.
Devs? Ignore this one, ignore the next one, then implement the one after that. Surely it will be the grandest and most wonderful PvP based suggestion, EVER.
Or implement this one. ASAP.
-Rachel- -
My logic is not flawed.
Creating unique powersets that have status protection effect -in- them for a class which does not have the ability to ACTIVELY defend itself against status effects is perfectly fine. Because that's one power out of the nine powers in the set. Sometimes it's split between two with a toggle -and- an auto-power, but the two invariably have other effects as well, in those cases.
Designing a 4 part power pool to defend yourself against Mez Effects to put in the game is patently ridiculous. Why? Because Controllers, Defenders, Masterminds, and Corruptors all have the ability to ACTIVELY DEFEND against mez effects. Brutes, Scrappers, Tankers, and Stalkers all have a method to PASSIVELY defend against Mez Effects. Blasters have the ability to keep attacking while mezzed. Not at full capacity, but they could pop a Break Free, just like anyone could.
You're suggesting that all defensive sets should be removed because someone could pop Lucks, Sturdies, and Breakfrees is absurd.
-Rachel- -
You seem to have missed the point of my post. The comment about hiding in absurdity in -my- post was a sardonic note that the previous paragraphs had been sarcasm.
Removing powers and sets from the game is not the same as adding new sets to the game which are, functionally, pointless. They have a theoretical use and a theoretical point. And I'm sure -some- characters would have some of the powers in the pool.
But by and large it would be a waste of Developer time to create.
You Fail to impress anyone but yourself.
-Rachel- -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Actually I think Break Frees are useful.
Right click on three same size and type inspirations to change them into a Breakfree.
Making a new Pool of break free powers is pointless.
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
hmmm well according to your logic then these powers are also pointless -
stamina - this power isnt needed because we have blue inspirations. when your end gets low, just pop those.
who needs a whole new power.
accuracy boosting powers - who needs these when you have yellow inspirations. lets get rid of these unneeded powers also since inspirations do the same thing
damage boosting powers - well again totally not needed since there are red inspirations.
rez powers - get rid of these too since we have awakens. empath and other healer types should just carry awakens and pass them out when needed.
while we are at it, may as well get rid of defense powers since we can just use purple and orange inspirations.
wow who would have thought there are so many pointless powers that arnt needed because we have inspirations?
lets get rid of all these powers.
after all, who wants our characters to be self sufficient its much better to be forced to rely on inspirations for our survival.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're right! My Gods! Why didn't I see it before?!
Let's also get rid of EVERY ranged attack set and every Melee attack set and replace them with one single target ranged attack, one targeted AoE attack, one cone AoE attack, and one Ground Target AoE attack! And for melee we can have one single target attack, one PBAOE, and one Melee ranged Cone!
Hiding in absurdity doesn't work. I tried it once.
There's no reason to take Developer time off what they're currently working on to fix this supposed 'Hole'.
-Rachel- -
[ QUOTE ]
Here's another:
I can understand why you have to choose one of each set of attacks.
But why can't we just get every summon, the way we get every prestige sprint?
[/ QUOTE ]
This. So very much this. Though I'd make it so each one is selectable ONCE. That way I could pick the prestige sprint I want without getting all of them, or pick 3 of the 4..... That sort of thing.
-Rachel- -
This is a bad idea.
Bug fixes should be issued normally, between issues as they crop up. Setting aside a whole issue's creation worth of time for bug-fixes would be disastrous. Many players would leave due to the lack of increased content (as some have commented on for the past 3 issues) and others would just think it a waste.
No matter -what- the Devs do there will be bugs in code because this game is evolving. If it were a final product game they could fix all the bugs that exist now and be done with it. But since they're adding new content on a (roughly) regular schedule any bug fixes they install today -might- be broken by the patch 2 months from now.
A Bug Fix issue is a bad idea.
Hiring a Bug Fix TEAM, however, would be a fantastic idea, IMO.

[ QUOTE ]
<QR>
Sappers are interesting because they are always - always - the primary target whenever you encounter them, regardless of archetype.
Them coming in an ambush can make things a lot harder too. It is one of the few mobs in-game that require you to make a quick tactical choice to target them over other mobs. (Healers are another mob type that you target first, but generally there you can take your time. You can't with Sappers, especially solo.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Either I'm horribly lucky or terribly unlucky....
Even on large teams (6 or more players) I only rarely come into contact with Sappers. I take down TONS of Tactical Operatives and Gunslingers.... But almost never Sappers... Titans: Ohhhhhhh Yeah. All the darn time! >_< But not many Sappers.....
Sucks to be me.
-Rachel- -
Item One: No thanks. Moving Inf Around seems kinda.... Silly.
Item Two: Wouldn't be a -bad- suggestion... But you can already store them at Wentworth's if you don't assign a price to them, so it seems superfluous.
And then there's the old 'Personal Base Storage' method, where you make a 1-man "SG" and put in an enhancement storage table to dump your IOs into.
All in all I can understand why a person might want this... But it just seems like overkill with the alternatives already in place.
-Rachel- -
[ QUOTE ]
B_I just drop it. if you are o n teams that aren't using their powers the way they should be then maybe you should be looking for other teams. maybe you should also think about taking some of the pool powers for travel that offer this type of protection. you don't need all of your primary or secondary powers nor the concealment pool or the medicine pool or whatever pools you are taking that is making your build so tight. use mid's and plan your build out if you don't already.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem, there, Quint is that B_I Already does that. She goes through and plots out her whole build in advance. Including what IOS to slot at what levels, which slots to add when and where, and so forth.
She doesn't have any room -left- for taking other powers or slotting them 'appropriately' She's too busy min-maxing everything else. So this becomes a hole in otherwise nigh-impenetrable armor.
And when you've got enemies like Malta who now have multiple holds and stuns Carrying Break Frees doesn't cut it. You've got to make a Status Protection Pool so she can take 4 powers out of it to defend... herself....
Control effects are binary because they -must- be binary. If a controller had an intensely powerful 'Slow Hold' or Multi-Phase hold he could hold AVs and so forth.... But he'd die.
By a slow hold I'm referring to what 4E D&D is doing for Death Effects. Initially you're slowed for a short duration, then immobilized for a short duration, then held.
If, in CoH a controller were to perform a "Slow Hold" the enemy would launch all of it's attacks in it's normal pattern, unhindered by the Slow or Immob effect for the purposes of ranged damage. The Controller would need a high defensive capability to survive -until- the hold itself landed.
So Yes. Holds -have- to be Binary. Either you're held instantly or you resist, instantly. Or you die and the foe gets held while you're face-planted on the cave floor.
Scrappers, Brutes, Stalkers, and Tankers all have Passive Defenses. The defense is active for a set length of time (Clicks for 90 seconds, Toggles refresh every few seconds) Dominators, Controllers, Defenders, Masterminds, and Corruptors all have ACTIVE DEFENSES. In the form of debuffs and mez effects. Rather than increase their own defense against attacks they kill their enemy's ability to survive.
Blasters have neither active or passive defense. They have only aggression and have to put down enemies -quickly- before they, themselves, are killed. Or they should have someone else on the team to actively defend them.
TLR Version
Control Effects -must- be binary if Control Types are to survive the first volley of fire. The different Archetypes have different ways of defeating Mez effects. And Break Frees are the best global mez resistance.
-Rachel-
Edited to remove an offensive word meaning a break or crack in armor. And also to add that I showed my 'True Colors' by telling people that using exploits is against the rules. This, of course, makes me a 'Dev Lover' and Brown Noser. but whatever. -
....
You would win an internet for that. But I'm out of tubes. Instead: Have a cookie!
