I would of sworn in beta Calvin Scott TF was active. I forget why they removed it but it should be re-added. I also would of sworn Positron said he would bring it back.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was removed because Calvin Scott didn't exist in the real world, so there was no way to get the second mission. (or the first mission, but point is, at some point you had to talk to Scott, and his non-existance made it problematic.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why not put Calvin Scott in Oroborous...? That way he can exist just like the other TF contacts in the zone.

  6. I'd love it if the Developers reworked the engine from scratch. Made it their own but fully compatible with the characters we've already got, and the one day just -slipped- it in.

Massive update, however, with likely several days of downloading when you log off City before the new engine launches. But when it does WOOOOOOOOOO!

    Such is my dream. *sighs*

Positron was very clear about how they will be handling farms in the AE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now I have to disagree with this point. From reading 'Abusing Mission Architect'. The farming thread often devolves into discussing Posi's lack of clarity. When asked for further clarification, he refused, citing the point that if people knew exactly what the limit was, they would stand right up next to that line. The only thing he was clear about was:

Egregious abuse in AE might be punished (paraphrased)

Positron's post continues to be held up as a "Thou shalt not farm", yet one begins to realize that much of what he was saying regarded extreme abuses of AE. The developers have dealt with many of the exploits in AE, and the best thing anyone can do if they want to help is identify potential issues and make the developers aware of them. The current hami farm certainly could have been avoided had someone caught it beforehand. (which as a farmer I have yet to run this mission, nor do I know anything beyond something exists). I strongly recommend things like this are brought to the developer's attention so they can be fixed. Removing the possibility is far more effective than any commandment.

I should probably take this moment to talk about what the Mission Architect is not meant for. It is not meant for "easy leveling" or "badging" or "farming". Those are things that we specifically wanted the Mission Architect NOT to do. This may be a disappointment to some, I know. The goal was to give creative minds an outlet to tell the stories they have in their heads. We didn't want the system clogged with Farm missions, so actually finding someone's story that they lovingly crafted became more a chore than it was worth.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And he who is clad in yellow and green metal spaketh! And he sayeth unto the masses "Thou shalt not Farm in the Architect. Nor Powerlevel. Nor Badge farm. So sayeth I, The Leader of the Development team!" And yea did they farm in the Architect. And though delayed, his punishment was powerful.

  9. Not quite an EAT, but tI cam up with Vigilantes a while back... Could use them as a third designation as I've outlined them as someone able to travel from the Isles to Praetoria, to Paragon without any effort by comparison to the convoluted method we'll doubtlessly need to overcome?

And there's always the Movement Master/Mistress EAT I created.... Took several posts to do, too! Moved them all to Lady Jade's just before the thread they were originally in got the axe.

    Translucency

Reasons not to make it an aura unlocked at level 30

    1. Character Concept at level 1 to play a ghost, invisible man, astral projection, hologram, Elemental Spirit, Incorporeal -anything-
    2. Cybernetic Heart = Ghost?
    3. The higher the gate you put on something the less people will use it appropriately. Which is why we've got characters in supertight spandexy superheroic style just swapping to Roman Armor with nothing under it. They took a huge fight to wear it and they're gonna wear it, even if it's inappropriate for their character.
    4. Concept Strangling. Playing one of the various character concepts listed in the first point from level 1 often makes more sense than 30 levels of "Whatever" and the concept blossoming thereafter.

Reasons to have Translucency be unlocked by a Costume Aura
    1. If half of Atlas Park was running around with it on -everyone- would be annoyed and bored with it, quickly.
    2. It's more or less consistent with the original auras in game-concept, if not in game mechanics.

Reasons to have it unlocked through invention salvage and recipe
Combines all the benefits of the above with no additional penalties.

    -Rachel-
  11. Steampunkette

    Translucency

Probably an Invention, so that even a level 1 character could use it.

Though the Arc idea -is- cool I hate that I can't wear Roman Armor until after 35....

  12. Southern end of Skyway City.

Alternatively there's a Manhole cover in the Pocket D Blueside Entrance area (The path that leads to 3 zones? Right near the middle)

  13. Steampunkette

    Translucency

100% Cosmetic. I'm referring solely to a costume option at the tailor.

Not an Aura, but a selectable level of visibility. Either Translucent or fully visible, not a slider. Wouldn't want players making themselves TRULY invisible, after all.

But this should be available at level 1, not 30+ as a costume option for characters.

    -Rachel-
  14. Steampunkette

    Translucency

Stealth Powers make you far more translucent than the Ghosts I'm referring to.

    -Rachel-
  15. Steampunkette

    Translucency

    Translucency.

We're able to apply it to NPCs in the Mission Architect, Ghost Pirates and office workers, and the Contact Hologram.

When do we, as players, get to make individual costume slots transparent?

Perhaps I want to make a character who is an Astral Projection of a powerful psychic who's been comatose for several years. Or the ghost of a young woman cut down in cold blood seeking revenge on the Rogue Isles Police for either helping or not saving her.

But I want it, either way. =-3

    -Rachel-
  16. You're wrong.

    IOs are not 'Fluff'

Fluff has no impact whatsoever on game statistics. Fluff is the flavor text at the bottom of a Magic Card, or the detailed history of a videogame. Or an extra costume piece that, while attractive, does nothing for your character.

TOs, DOs, SOs, HOs, and IOs are all grit. They have a defined effect on the characters overall power. Ergo they are not 'Fluff.'

    Kinetic Armor

Going to tackle this thing individually and then as a whole. But before I start let me assure you that I -like- the idea.

Kinetic Shield and Dampening field. Right on target, in my opinion. though I'd switch their positions so that Scrappers, stalkers, and Brutes get the Auto-Power before they can select the toggle.

Kintetic Switch. I'm sorry. But OP doesn't cover it... Make it Melee range, lower the numbers on both the buffs and debuffs, and swap it with Entropy Shield's location in the chain.

Increase Density is fantastic, thematically. The numbers in it look pretty good, though I'd lower the Smashing Lethal to about 15%.

    Entropy Field is Spot On.

Kinetic Strife should stay a Toggle. I really like the idea of a Slow-field that applies a -end discount to the targets. I wouldn't suggest, however, allowing it to buff teammates. I'd also like to suggest you change it's end Discount into a +recovery or +regen per-target. Maybe even +recharge...?

Conserve Power... It's a really neat power, but I don't think it belongs in the set. Though Conservation of Motion would be nice. Click power PBAoE +recharge +speed per target in the AoE. -Spd -recharge to enemies in the AoE. Long recharge, long duration.

Transfusion I like a lot. It fits, thematically. Though a 20% heal sounds... Off.I kinda understand what you mean, though. General self-heal but it debuffs a target.

For Overload I'd proooobably lower the Defense Buff to 30%. Maybe 35% to workshop it. I like the +HP aspect, I like the Crash. But suddenly giving someone who has spent most of the game with low resistance numbers and lower defense buffs (To S/.L only, I might add) a free pass to Soft-Capped Defense for 3 minutes seems a bit out of place. Though I'd be happy to suggest adding resistance on that power as well. Probably S/L/Nrg resistance of between 25% and 45%.

Just my alterations, not sure who'd like 'em!
    -Rachel-
  18. It's hard to place back items correctly due to the sizing of player bodies. They would need to literally create a different jacket skin with the emblem on it for each chest detail as the technology currently stands.

Otherwise it would clip with the clothes while you attack or move, hover several inches off the back of smaller people, and be inside people at the upper end of the height slider.

    -Rachel-
  19. Yes. You can use the power 3 times to max out your Defenses.

Or you can pick a defensive set (Like Katana/SR) and max it out on every few swings, giving you time to fire off another attack or two in the interim. Or, like most people, you'll slot it into your attack chain and gain the boost once in a while. If you're a resisttance based set firing parry off Once is enough to make a significant bump in your survivability.

Heck. Crunch the numbers on a Resistance based set and a Defensive based set, add a tiny bit of +Def to the resistance set and it's survivability leaps far ahead of the Defensivve set.

    -Rachel-
  20. Add in "Hey, F@%^ You!" As the taunt power....

How about Slapshot as a ranged attack? Character drops a puck and snaps it off towards the target?

    -Rachel-
  21. It's not just for people who mainly have negative energy attacks, either.

Smashing/Lethal resistance in various ghosts is pretty high, but the axe slices right through that.

    -Rachel-
  22. I'll give you an example I recently ran into while trying to create a leveling grade for damage output/number of enemies killed/xp per enemy killed/base damage per level.

As the levels get higher you fall prey to an Exponential cascade. The higher the numbers get on even the most reasonable scale you can provide the more outrageous they become, so long as you follow the scale you set out at level 1. So as you go along you have to alter the scale, or ignore it at certain levels and -not- have an increase over the previous level's gain.

    It's called XP Smoothing.

Add another 10 levels to the total and the XP Smoothing becomes millions of points of XP being shaved off each level OR You'll spend weeks trying to gain levels whilst farming. Months if you don't farm.

Add to that that damaging effects also scale, meaning targets must have even higher amounts of hit points. Soon the average minion is walking around with 30,000 HP and the big-bads count their health totals in the hundreds of millions.

    For another example See: WoW

A simpler example. Getting 1 Dollar per day for a year versus getting 1 penny per day, cumulative. Which yields the higher amount?

By day 204 you've got more money gaining a single penny more per day at $204.03 as opposed to the Dollar a Day gain of 204. The longer the pattern holds the higher the amount gets.

Now apply that to average player damage in CoH and average enemy HP.

    Plant Armor!

I actually put those powers together with the idea of a tanker being extra-tanky. They don't mitigate incoming damage at all, but they can keep enemies that are outside of your aggro locked down or, in the event of your sudden and untimely demise being imminent you could pop the tier 9 to root your enemies and give your team a chance to get away or regroup before you're back in the fight.

    Servers down?

Mondays and Fridays they take the servers down for maintenance. Mondays for a full defrag to clear out the weekend traffic, Fridays to prep the server for the weekend.

While I would not be opposed to adding alternative powers to sets (and I'd be fine if they added an additional tier 9 choice to Dark Armor for people that wanted it), my problem is this:

You really can't give this kind of feature to one set and not to the others. Why should Dark Armor get two tier 9 powers to choose from, but Invuln doesn't? The Devs would need to create this choice for every set, I feel.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually agree with this statement. The only reason I didn't bring it up is Dark Armor was the only one I actually had an idea for. I have no idea what could possibly be added to any of the other armor sets to keep the field level.

It wasn't that I didn't think of it, just that I didn't think of a way to address it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could address it by giving the sets WITHOUT a self-rez but -with- a tier 9 power a Self Rez alternative? Though I'm not sure -what- you could do for Willpower or Regen, since they both have both!
