I am so far at least completely underwhelmed by the -ToHit of the Blaster Darks sets. Maybe I need to use them more and learn them better, but so far: meh.

Exactly what I thought of immediately. Sounds like Somalia today. Or the Rogue Isles: the strong control and exploit the weak through force. Sadly, many people forget how hard it is to set up a government where the minority are not crushed by the majority.
  3. I did some Trials with Space Spectre, my 50 Eng/Eng blaster, until I got my Lore pet.

I have a Night Widow Predator concept character that had been sitting at 40 forever, got him to 43 and did a SF I had never run before.

Oh, and it was my birthday
  4. Just a couple of thoughts:

Apple customers tend to have a higher percentage of disposable income. It's the reason Apple has greater cash reserves than the US government. If I were NCSoft, i'd want to appeal to that demographic.

Let's talk about ways to work around this problem. Rebooting to Boot Camp is an option, but that's a pain. I have had success running the beta client under Parallels 6/Win 7, including accessing the Paragon Points store. Yes you have to install Windows, but at least you don't have to reboot. Any other workarounds?

Oh, and I'm pretty sure vet status has little to do with closed beta invites. I've been here pretty much forever and only been in a couple.
  5. Do new characters have the option to skip the tutorial? I really want to try out a new character and the new creator!!!!!

Here is his list of scheduled book signings from his web site:

He is really great in person, if he comes to your vicinity make the trip!
  7. I don't know exactly how to say what it is, but CoH characters are powerful and fun from the get go. When I was first starting, I tried another MMO, and the entire tutorial I spent my time hitting rats. With a stick. Right after that, I logged into CoH and was blasting bad guys with energy beams. No comparison. Been here 7 years and can't even remember the other MMO's name.

The melee sets can be difficult for me to get into as well (lack of any form of challenge after level 32 I think), so I'm not sure if I'll mess with Titan Weapons or Street Justice. It depends on if I can come up with a combination that I like conceptually or not, but if I do it'll most likely be a Brute.
    This.

    Also, fixed it for you.
  9. Yeah come by the Blaster forums, post your build. Permanent Drain Psyche may not be needed if you build for, say, S/L defense. I'm sure you'll get some advice.
  10. Ms. Liberty Toon: Character that has gone from level 1 to 50 entirely in Atlas Park. Is about as effective on a team as Ms. Liberty during a Rikti attack.

Grey Ghosting: Doing a mission you outlevelled long ago to get the badge or other reward at the end.

Merit Mayhem: The process of repeating Hero Merit missions to get the prized PvP enhancement.
  11. The OP might be talking about the actual stores in-game where they sell DOs and SOs. Those show up on the map of the zone you are in.
  12. Some thoughts:

    - You took CJ and SJ but not Acrobatics. I assume by taking and fully slotting three melee attacks and not picking Hover you see yourself in melee range more, so Acro might be a consideration.

    - Stamina slotted with Chance to Stun. Don't get that. Did you mean to put the Performance Shifter Chance for End and clicked wrong?

    - You have two travel powers. Is this a PvP build? Neither travel power has the Winter's Gift -Slow. If you only picked one travel power, you might consider the Fighting pool.

    - You can up your Ranged Def if you frankenslot your Snipe with three TStrikes and three Stings. Much cheaper too.

    /auctionhouse

Found out it seems to show no available items if you have "For Sale" checked while in base. Unchecked, you can get items.

    /auctionhouse

This slash command does not seem to work inside a base. Which is where you are most likely to have a vault and a construction table in the same place.

Can someone check this? I tried several times today and never got it to work in my base.
  15. Maybe I'm missing something, but I think the Blaster one looks pretty good. If I understand these correctly, they can be slotted in any Blaster Primary power, right? I don't think any Targetted AoE set gives Ranged Def. So the ability to slot this in a TAoE power and pick up 3.13% ranged Def and a chance for Fire damage and 8% global recharge looks nice.

If I misunderstand and they only go in single-target attacks, then yeah, less options are bad.

No spoilers, though I will comment that there was something in the book that made it pretty obvious that Butcher does play CoH.

Good book, and not the end of the series.
I went to a Q&A/book signing by Jim Butcher in Kansas City on Tuesday. He is incredibly smart and funny. If he does one of these near your town, GO.

He said that he plans "about" 20 total Dresden novels, not counting the short stories. He loves superheroes, and mentioned he just finished watching the Avengers cartoon series on NetFlix.

Consider a SoA. You can go Huntsman (which is cool), Crab for big AOEs, or Bane if you want some Stalker shading to the character. Your Leadership-type skills contribute to the team. The writing for the SoA stuff is pretty good and you can't get it for any other character.

(Almost said Blaster for you too, but you already did Fire/Cold Corr, which is somewhat similar.)

I decided that just making a blaster wasn't enough, I also moved servers, and took nothing with me. Starting from scratch, not the rich child of one of my 50's. So far, its worked. I look forward to playing my toon again. Meeting new people, leveling up an AT that is totally foreign to me, and actually grouping again has changed the game for me.
To quote Hannibal Smith, "I love it when a plan comes together".
  20. Well, dang it! My family is out of town, and I'm not on call this weekend! I was gonna play Double XP until I looked like one of the kids from the South Park WoW episode!

Now, well heck, I might have to... go outside.

I know nobody can tell someone else what if "fun" to play. Fun is an individual thing. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has experienced this problem and all I'm looking for are some AT ideas that were fun for you to play. I'm thinking about maybe a dom or defender, but I'm open to any suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.
Let me preface my response by saying I like playing a lot of ATs. That said, I have to throw in Blaster as a suggestion to get you out of your slump. No offense, but all of your 50s are "safe" characters. I'm betting that after their mid-30s, they almost never died, and even that probably took a team wipe.

You are likely bored because there is almost no risk to your characters.

Truth: you probably CAN'T die with mez protection, incredible control with damage-multiplying powers, and capped-to-multiple-types-or-positions shields.

Blasters have none of that. Yeah, with millions in Inf you can maybe cap one position or one damage type of Defense, but other than that, you are on your own. You will learn which opponents do what type of damage, which ones have strong Mez powers, and the best tactics for taking on tough situations. You will really appreciate team members that buff you instead of going "Hey my Def went from capped to super capped".

Here's the challenge: Blasters take on exactly the same enemies every other AT does, but with none of the protections (I'm trying real hard not to call them crutches) the others have. You want something that will keep you interested? Give a high-level Blaster a go.

    Beam Gun

So, I've been thinking about a Darker-Than-Darkest-Dark Blaster since they announced the powersets, and now... they announce Beam Gun as a purchasable powerset for Blasters in I21. One poster who saw it an the SDCC said it has an effect similar to Sonic Blast that makes subsequent blasts more powerful.

I'm never going to get an Incarnate above Alpha slot at this rate...

One change this time around is that my wife is going to be playing with me so we're going to create a super-powered duo. Should be fun! :-)

I asked above but I'll throw it out there again...what archtypes seem to be best suited for PVP? I was thinking about creating a stalker as I created one last time I played the game and had a great deal of fun with him.
Hey my wife plays sometimes also, send us a tell in game!

As for PvP, I think not so many people play in those zones since around Issue 13 or so. You might try the PvP boards. On the plus side, it's pretty easy to get Shivans now, because no one is there to bother you.
