I know it isnt exactly related but i was watching The Big Bang Theory the other night, where the girl was drawn into playing Sheldon's game AoC .. i jst think its hard to compete with games that can have big advertisement on popular TV shows like this. Also like in the South Park WoW episode.
Lets get CoH in on Emmerdale or something!
[/ QUOTE ]
CoH/CoV was regularly featured (though not mentioned, just shown) in Chuck. I've not seen it for a while, though. -
You're all (well, not all - some of you are being very sensible) being a little silly.
1. Parents should monitor their children. NOT to the point of shielding, but enough to keep them safe. The majority get this balance down perfectly, the rest have little excuse.
2. CRB checks take less time then credit rating checks. This is a good thing, unless you're trying to get a credit card. Freakin' Barclay's!
3. CRB checks are NOT foolproof. All sex offenders start somewhere, why not on an internet forum? By this I mean, any potential sex offender who has not committed a crime/been caught, will pass.
4. The police and social services should attempt to work with each other, not against. Increasing the number of policeman/social workers will not improve a damn thing until they start working together.
5. Stop complaining about "taxpayers" money, jeez. We all* (*majority) pay it, a good deal of us without complaint. -
Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.
Okay, seriously, Daily Mail reporters are not the ones who [censored] about gamers. It's the people who write in. -
Well, I've had lengthy conversations with at least two CoH players, while at work.
It's... frightening, but also fairly cool. But mostly frightening. -
[ QUOTE ]
CoX shouldn't be affected by this, but I -can- see this being an end to official game forums in the future...
[/ QUOTE ]
Official? No.
Unofficial? Very possibly, unless the law states the owner of the thing (my brain has stopped working... the thing, like Invision and such - free to use forum software?) is liable. But I don't see very many companies going, "Ok, we'll accept responsibility for all our users!"
It's a good thing, though. -
[ QUOTE ]
At least you weren't born here.
[/ QUOTE ]
He was. I wasn't.
LONDONER FOR LIFEZ, YO. (not you, Londoner) -
I would like to state, for the record, that everyone at the Game store I work at knows exactly what they're talking about; and between us, there's barely a game we don't know in depth.
-
[ QUOTE ]
our game stores in stevenage r [censored] lol its all wow in there or xbox. though stopping to have a costa hot choco was nice the other day hehe
[/ QUOTE ]
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Sorry.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHA -
[ QUOTE ]
Which GAME in Stevenage are you in Stasis? Because if it's the one opposite Costa, you should know I'm considering burning it down for having such a criminally small section for PC games, thereby forcing me to go all the way down to the other one.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not that far away. About a minute's walk - and the PC section is much, much bigger.
Then again, so's the stockroom. The smaller shop's stockroom is about the same size as the larger shop's toilet. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's largely down to shelf space. GAME shops tend to be quite small.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uh...huh.
We had one copy, it was sold. We're supposedly due a replacement copy at some point - probably when our stock levels are back to normal. -

because their council did not want to pay Sunday rates, so did not send the gritters out last night.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well that's just stupidity on the councils part and some one should be shot for that decision.
[/ QUOTE ]
Eh.
My dad's a postman, so he got the day off work - and my mum's retired. They're golden.
Besides, the local shop has always sold big bags of grit in the winter. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
So in short don't blame the councils they were more than likely out gritting and salting the roads before the weather started and instead if you don't like it stay in and stop moaning.
[/ QUOTE ]
My road has been nither gritted or salted (in fact they can't use salt now, too damaging to the environment).
[/ QUOTE ]
Just got off the phone to my parents, and discovered they are sitting under a foot and a half of snow - including the main roads (one of which a main route to Central London), because their council did not want to pay Sunday rates, so did not send the gritters out last night.
As such, all post was cancelled, no buses are running, no trains, no rubbish collection - and every school (including secondary schools and colleges) is shut. -
WOOHOO!
Love working retail, especially when all transport shuts down. Shortest shift ever. -
It's still snowing.
I wouldn't mind, but I have to walk 2 miles to work in 20 minutes. -
[ QUOTE ]
I like to use more old-fashioned swearwords.
Like 'Blaggard!'. Or 'Filthy cur!'.
Really gets a team going :3
[/ QUOTE ]
I used to call people "Charlies" a lot, thanks to The Goon Show.
Then my dad explained what it meant. Oops. -
I'll only swear for a couple of reasons:
1. When I'm livid, and my brain has stopped functioning past the most primal level.
2. For comedic effect: i.e. anyone who knows me, knows I hate to swear, and whenever I do, I regret it later (yes, this applies to 1) - so if I feel like making an impact amongst my friends-who-like-to-swear, I will blurt out something atrocious (though never the word Scarlet Shocker mentioned).
I will then feel terribly ashamed. -
[ QUOTE ]
However there are some who still think it's big and clever to swear to excess or for comedic effect. Bless 'em.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sneaky. -
Defenders. I have tried on multiple occasions, all sorts of powerset combinations, and I just can't do it. Especially Empaths. Oh god. I'm amazed anyone can bring themselves to play such a character.

A search engine decided that every site should be marked as a no-go area.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
When Google updated the list on Saturday, it mistakenly flagged all sites as potentially dangerous.
[/ QUOTE ] -
Whoope-de-doo, you're older. Good luck with that.
Happy Birthday! -
[ QUOTE ]
One that really annoys me is [censored] not because "[censored]" is filtered but because "45s" is filtered because it could be you typing [censored] in l33t the number of times I've typed in "group of 45s round the corner" or words to those effect and its came out as "group of *%£ round the corner"
Grrr just really bugs me.
[/ QUOTE ]
...what was censored? -
Oh man, that's fantastic. I hope they do do something with these citizens in the future, but even if they don't - having NPCs randomly say, "Lord Nemesis is watching you" is highly creepy.
Very, very cool. -
>_>

It doesn't matter if it's trying to entertain or not - if you made a post using the text you said on the video, there's no way it wouldn't be removed - posting a link to a video of you attacking other forum posters is the same as making a post attacking other forum posters.
If you made a video where you had to blank out the names of the people you were talking about in it to avoid being banned, then that should surely tell you that it was an unsuitable thing to post in the first place.
Not only that, but you also come across very badly in it, whcih I'm sure wasn't your intent - and it does tend to confrim the view people had of that whole silly "forumite" thing - which was a while ago now, and it'd be much better to leave it alone, and not try bringing it up again.
[/ QUOTE ]
[censored] [censored] your [censored] face [censored].
In that post, I told you to "censored, censored your censored face censored", I have not and did not type one swear word, nor was I insulting to you in anyway.
However I deliberately made it appear that I was being insulting, and swearing my [censored] off for effect.
Fire_Guardian is an actor. Yes, he has real feelings about some people on these forums, and events in the past - but in Ask a Ben he is first and foremost, an actor. Episode Four is meant to show him up in a bad light, it's rather the point. Y'know, like the angry German kid, or... Yahtzee.
The unedited version, whilst containing real, very strong swear words and a genuine rant, also contains about 10 minutes of laughter from the both of us. You can spot him about to laugh on multiple occasions, he couldn't get through it without giggling.
Basically, [censored] happened, it was bad, it still stings, but it's funny as all [censored] [censored]-[censored] hell.
