Gah! I've completely forgotten the timing/pitch for the third verse. I can get the first and second ones down pat...and the "And we will RP" (even though I end up almost screeching the "p"); but can't get the rest.
I never realised how repetitive the actual tune was, definately improved by his voice. And I also agree with Raven, your lyrics = better than the original.

I'm with Gideon on this one, I'm afraid.
I could accept it not being plagiarism if the person had no idea the name/concept had already been "taken" as it were. However, as stated, they do know it's being used across the pond; not only that, but this person would like to create an SG almost identical to the existing one.
Using the name itself is not plagiarism, using the concept alone - again, not plagiarism. Taking the name and the concept even though you know it's being used by the original (?) creator, is.
Definately not accusing the OP of plagiarism, and not suggesting that he'd even think about it. But the simple fact that he knows it's in use should stop him from using it without expressed permission from the creator.
Rather like knowing of the Harry Potter series and yet writing an almost identical series. If the writer had never heard of Harry Potter then it could be suggested that he just happened to have the same idea; however, with even the slightest bit of knowledge of it, his defence doesn't stand.
I'd at least attempt to gain permission. That way, even if the OP receives no reply, he can at least say he tried.

Those are all from the same arc, revenant hero project.

QFT.
And as far as I can remember, there aren't many more clues to pick up from that arc -- therefore you should have it done in no time.

You know better than I, TG
. All I see of Defiant happens via Global Chat channels. If I was to make any assumptions based on that, the whole server would be full of: strange pink girlies (by the name of Pyra), mad DJs, the occasional hardcore player with 6 or 7 level 50s and LDF.
My advice was just for those people who are upset because they view Defiant as a bad community; whether it's true or not, the only real thing that matters is someone's opinion. If the OP is so very upset about what he believes to be true, to the point of cancelling an account, then all effort should be directed towards trying to get him to believe otherwise.
Uhm, ok, an example:
If I was to say to Weasel, "You're bad at writing!" which is not true by any stretch of the imagination, he may still be hurt by it. But if it's not true, why is he hurt? Because he believes it to be true, or at least has some doubt that it isn't.
As you all know, I'm a Unionite - but I hope I can say that I have a lot of friends on Defiant, and wouldn't want to lose any of them, equally as I wouldn't want to lose any of my Unionite friends. So, true or not, it's the opinion that counts this time -- not the facts.
Everything above is my opinion, by the way -
Rogue Unionite sticking in her own $0.02:
A "clique" can only really be judged from the outside. If an outsider has a bad run-in with a member of a clique, he/she is likely to judge the whole group based on the words/actions of one person. This is basically a reversal of the "any friend of blah is a friend of mine" rule.
i.e. If they're such an annoying/cruel/strange person, there friends must be equally as annoying/cruel/strange. It's false logic, but people are quick to judge, and basing a person on the type of friends they have is gradually becoming more common.
This wouldn't be a problem if everyone got along with everyone else; but the chances of that ever happening are laughable. You simply will not find good in everyone you ever meet. Now if member A of the clique doesn't like outsider C, the chances of C ever becoming a part of said clique are quite slim. Unless C meets member B, and they hit it off.
Yet this still causes problems. If C joins the group, and still doesn't get along with A, either C is unwillingly forced out, or A is. No group of friends want to lose someone just because they have a problem with another friend.
I'm still not decided as to whether cliques are a good or a bad thing. I adore my friends and will do anything for them, yet I don't want to have to cut off another potential friend just because he/she doesn't get on with...TG, say.
My advice (if you'll take it) for all Defiantites who believe the community is going downhill, is to branch out. Speak to people you wouldn't normally even think of talking to. Newbies perhaps? Even those you previously considered "n00bs". If just one of you can make a new friend, you might be able to start to re-build your community.
Remember, a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet. -
Check under "Clues", if you've still got some, you've still got one (maybe more) story arcs open. Unfortunately you must complete these before another contact will give you one, as you can't have more than 2 (?) open at one time.
-
When naming the SG, I'd try and steer away from as many stereotypes as you can. Just because they're the most obvious choices. So no, "Former Republic Of..." or "Red..." type names.
Of course, it's up to you -- but I'd try and make it as original as possible.
-
Maria Jenkins gives the Hero's Hero arc, though I can't remember which contact gives you her as a contact. It might be Tina MacIntyre, I'm not quite sure.
-
Congratulations!
And managing it with a Claws/Invul Scrapper? You're in an elite club now.
-
I'd like to be there, but I'm not sure I can risk taking Snaedis to such a high level area. I know Lusca scales to level, but the Family and DE which surround her, don't.
If anyone wants to take pity on a poor ickle Blaster and sk her for the event, I'd be extremely grateful.

Not sure on that Astoreth, I know one woman who's taller, stronger and far more intimidating than me, and despite Armed Service training STILL has the usual treatment from men & women alike.
If anything, wearing Lycra would actually increase the 'sex object' role.
[/ QUOTE ]
But just how intimidating can a short, plushy weasel be??
Seriously, I take your point, but I was thinking of someone known to be a super would tend to be classed as a super first and a man/woman second.
[/ QUOTE ]
IRL, he's a bloomin' giant! Still quite plushy though.
As for "Super first, woman second", might be true...we don't really know as there are no superhumans IRL. However, in a roleplaying scenario this can still count as prejudism.
For instance, Stasis is a superhuman but she can't stand being one. This doesn't mean she wants to be a villain, quite the opposite--she'd much rather be a plain old human, with all the restrictions to boot. Even though she has the ability to cut through steel and withstand most punches aimed her way, the male superhuman's still treat her as "weaker" than they are.
A male superhuman might still try to protect her, as underneath all the powers she's very naive and innocent. Take Silver Weasel for instance, his RP relationship with Stasis is that of her protector (there is that unknown requited romance scenario, but atm, they're "just friends"), despite the fact that she can hold her own, and physically, is stronger than Weasel.
She may be super, but she'd still have difficulty obtaining a high ranking job in the armed services, say. This isn't because the armed forces are prejudiced against women, but because her personality is much too weak for her to be able to take charge of a potentially fatal situation.
Some people (whether man, woman or inbetween) will always treat others with disrespect if they aren't identical to themselves. This could be due to bad personal experiences, fear, lack of understanding or any number of other reasons. The only real way anyone is able to overcome these is to be sure of themself.
If the character is confident (this doesn't mean they have to be arrogant), another character saying, "You're ugly" or "There's no way you could do this..." isn't going to bother them in the slightest. However, if the character has some self-doubt, it may be devastating.
Although, there is one female stereotype which I've found to be (mostly) true. Female/female relationships (friendships, not romantic) tend to be "closer" than male/male. A woman is more likely to tell her friends that she loves them, and yet on the other hand, if a female friend was to insult her, she'd spend days/weeks/months not talking to her. This can involve [censored] behind the friend's back, but that does depend on the person's personality.
For men, the insult is likely to be met with either a rebuff, or a fist. Occasionally the insult can be so hurtful that the man follows the same "rules" as the woman, but for the most part this is unlikely.
And one final thought: Men are not from Mars, and women are not from Venus. We may not be identical, but we're definately not vastly different. "Ladette" society has proven this. -
Ok, as I'm still rather lost here, I'm going to give examples of both a character and a player's reaction (mine, at least):
No matter which of my character's I'm playing, if I'm hit on while playing, I either a). won't react, or b). "jokingly" tell them I'm a man. This may seem cruel, but I play Co* to have fun, not to flirt endlessly with random strangers. (everyone who knows how Weasel and I met, keep schtum - that's not my point).
However, if I was in a strictly roleplay area, i.e. GG, the character I was playing would influence my responses. For instance, Stasis, who's rather self conscious, would attack rather than feel flattered. Vainglory, on the other hand, would expect to be hit on, constantly, by men, women, robots, animals, regardless of their gender preference. -
Just to clarify (as your second post confused me slightly), are you wanting to know how the character feels? Or how the player feels?
i.e. Stasis' feelings, or my feelings?
Really though, it all depends on your character's personality. She's not going to be affected by stereotypes either way if she's a strong-willed woman. Contrary to that, if she's a feminist, she may take more offence. It's really up to the character--assuming, of course, that you want to know the character's reaction rather than the person-behind-the-character. -
They're both quite nice with sweet chilli sauce, though if not cooked correctly (i.e. by me: worst cook ever) can be very tough and stringy. And for a change, they don't taste like chicken

Reason I'm asking is I RP Ironclad as being SUPER strong, but I want to keep it in synch with his level to some extent
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, perhaps keep his strength the same throughout his levels, but train him in mastering the art?
For instance, a man of Hulk Hogan's size and shape could potentially lift/punch/throw as much as the man himself, but not without rigorous training.
It'd save you having to come up with facts and figures, plus, you could develop his "strength" faster. Just a suggestion.

With Terrify becoming available within the next couple of levels, and Drain Psyche appearing too...I'm going to have a tough time picking my powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
From those coices I'd really, really suggest ignoring the many negative board comments and poor looking planner numbers on Drain Psyche and at least trying it out on Test. It can quite easily leave you in a state where you're recovering END at a fast rate whilst running TK and spamming attacks and single target control. It's already convinced me to spec out of the Fitness pool before even getting to Stamina, confident that I won't need it. I'd expect it to be a classic YMMV power, but it's most definately worth trying out.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll definately do that. Being able to spec Stamina out would be lovely, as there are a couple of other power pool sets I'd like to take, just to complete her character.

I spent a couple of hours playing my Mind/Psi Dom last night, after neglecting her for over a month...and I'm actually starting to enjoy her again.
Pushing a mob of four or five (I've not mastered this yet) into a corner and letting the other team members bash away at them, completely unharmed, does make one feel rather pleased with oneself (so much so, that one starts typing pretentiously).
With Terrify becoming available within the next couple of levels, and Drain Psyche appearing too...I'm going to have a tough time picking my powers. But, I can only see that as a good sign. When you're stuck at a power choice level and really don't want any of the powers available, then you should start to worry. When you've got three or four that you really want to pick up, sure, it's frustrating, but it does make you feel as if you've chosen a decent set.
I hereby vow to take Vain up to the cap, and show those pesky Controllers just what a Dominator can do. -
Is there not a phone number you can ring to book tickets? Or even an e-mail address/real life address? I've searched through google and can't find any information as to why the site is down.
Major bummer, fingers crossed it's back up before the 3rd of March!
P.S. Sorry for hijacking your thread, but hope to see you all at the expo. Zortel, I must actually talk to you this time.

The costume and wings look fabulous. Such clean lines, and though I have no artistic knowledge whatsoever, the bodyshape looks perfect. Fairly large thighs, which (being female) I'm so grateful you included. Far too many artists (men and women alike) decrease the thigh size and make every female character look as if they have baby giraffe legs.
Only two minor, minor criticisms: The background is a little too fussy and detracts from the drawing itself. Not needed imo; and the hair I'm not too keen on, purely because I don't like that available hairstyle.
Other than that, I think it's beautiful.
-
*sniff* It feels like only yesterday that I met you, named you (whoever thought "Quilty" would take off so?), and harpooned you. And now you're all grown up and level 50 *sob*.
I'm sorry, I'm feeling quite emotion...wait a minute, you wokked me! Stupid level 50 fire Blaster.

Easter has arrived.
Oh, why have we all been nerfed?

I think your boyfriend is very well trained...
Oh, you meant the sketch? It's wonderful, the attention to detail on the costume is beautiful and flawless!
