And I hate to burst your bubble, but the developers recently said that there was not likely to be any further Powerset Proliferation until Issue 15 (and even that hasn't been guaranteed).

    [/ QUOTE ]

And with this game finally having some competition coming up, who knows if they're even going to be around when I15 is due (late 2009/2010). Apparently since Powerset Proliferation failed to bring in a million new customers, they don't think it's worth wasting any more time on

I hope it'll be customized a bit more than the DR site is though. Of course my favorite part about the DR forums is that there's no flash banner. Stupid thing freezes up my remote desktop for a solid 10-15 seconds when I refresh the page.

Curious how the name purge will happen - are we re-registering on the new boards, or will we have an option to change our name somewhere? I know admins can change VB names, but didn't think users could change their own names.
I would love to grab my global as my username - makes for far less confusion

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd really like to do the same. Wizzerd was functional 4-5 years ago, but it's just not who I am anymore...

    @Starhammer
  3. I also appreciate that there are changes being made to allow the premium content to be used immediately. I would like to see them make the necessary changes to code to allow for the special edition capes to follow this precedent as well. I can understand if it's more work than it's worth, but I'm just adding my 2¢. That way for instance, if a new booster pack were to be released it might include a cape that matches the set, which could be used immediately.

It's easy to talk about how we can "just use the shoulder capes instead" or "just casually level to 20, since it's so easy", but neither of those arguments is very objective. What's cakewalk for some players is rather difficult for others. Sure, I can hit 20 the day I build a character, but I've been doing this for awhile too. As for the shoulder capes, as many of us vets may have them, there's other folks (especially with some of the recent drives to get new blood in the game) that aren't there yet, and may not be for a year or more.

I believe that if content is paid for above and beyond the normal subscription cost of the game, then it should be available immediately. I'm not going to get bent out of shape if some new player just starts the game and gets a cape at level 1 because they paid an extra 10 bucks for the "Barbarians at the Gates" booster which comes with a bear/wolf/lion skin cape, a bunch of animal fur costume pieces, and a lot of axe/mace/sword/claw customization options...
  4. [ QUOTE ]

As for the PVP zones, yes, doing PVE content there will be harder.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In most cases, this isn't too bad, but I already have a very hard time with some characters killing off those turrets on the bunker (at the end of the Shivan mission) before new ones start spawning. Teams are not always available/willing to help with that either.

I'd appreciate it if at some point you guys could look into a way to make that mission a little more solo friendly for low DPS Defenders and their ilk, hopefully without making it any more of a cakewalk than it is for teams. (For instance, it'd be really cool if there were a glowie for each turret that would disable/destroy it also, so long as it was placed somewhere that you wouldn't get zapped constantly once you destealth to click it).

    Issue 13 Update

    [ QUOTE ]
    Ok, we know.

We should have had said something more by now, about Issue 13. But… like all great architectural endeavors, Issue 13 is taking on a life of its own and we’re not quite ready to spill forth all the information.

So, just a quick note to say thanks for your patience, even though we know you may not really be patient. Trust us, it’s coming; we’re working on it – and there’s more great stuff coming (like you haven’t heard that before, but really, we mean it!)

    Thanks!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sarge: I'm sure you're all wondering why I've gathered you here today...
Grif: Yeah not really. I'm just happy not to be washing the Warthog... for once.
    Church: What's the big scoop?
Sarge: That the campaign is going to be great, and, you're really, going, to, enjoy it. That, is all. Thank you for your time.
Church: Wait a second, that's it? That's the big announcement? That we're going to enjoy the new campaign?
Sarge: No, that you're really going to enjoy it. Oh, and the part about it being great.
Grif: So all we know is that there's gonna be some kind of an upcoming campaign...
    Sarge: Possibly.
Grif: And that the Spartans will be involved in it...
    Sarge: Those are your words.
Grif: But that we can't know anything...
    Sarge: I can't say.
    Grif: Including who we're fighting...
Sarge: I have no comment for the subject.
Grif: Or if we're even fighting in it...
Sarge: Sarge: I plead the fifth.
Grif: Or when it even starts...
Sarge: I refer you to my previous statement.
Grif: But that it's going to be great.
Sarge: I feel comfortable confirming that. Wait- Yes.
    Grif: ...well I'm totally stoked!
    Simmons: Kickass!

Simmons: Do you know what weapons we'll be using?
Sarge: Weapons. They're gonna be great!
Church: Okay awesome, what are they?
Sarge: That information is only given to people with the proper clearance.
    Church: What's the proper clearance?
Sarge: Sorry, that information is only given on a need-to-know basis.
Church: Do I need to know?
    Sarge: That's top secret!
    Church: This sucks.

    Cyborg costumes!

Great costumes everyone. I suppose I'll share a couple as well.

I've been wanting to get around to building a red, white, & blue "patriotic" hero for some time, but always end up either not getting quite the look I want, or getting it only to realize it looks just like one I saw earlier... Finally I made BARRICADE and am pleased with him, especially because the costume meshes perfectly with the LKT-1700 Rocket Pack (I love being able to buy time on my account with my Target card btw).

Starhammer has been through many, many costume iterations over the years, and this is the most recent. I know it doesn't use much of the cyborg pack, but those particular shoulder plates just called out to me for him.

I really like the costume pieces in this pack, even if I only use a couple here and there. Keep providing us with pieces like this and I'll keep buying booster packs.
  7. While I in no way support griefing, that video of the Kronos Titan at the Hamidon Raid was cool.

does the self destruct option get interupted if hit like the pocket D TP?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would highly, HIGHLY reccomend you do NOT zone while the self-destruct power is counting down. There is currently a bit of an issue with the FX script that can cause the camera shake to not stop and increase over time...indefinitely. If this happens, the only fix is to completely shut down the game and restart it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I'll say it again... How can you tell us something like this and expect us not to go out and try to do exactly that
  9. I wish I had an opportunity to get up there for PAX... It'd also give me a chance to see one of my best friends in that region. Alas, I'll be stuck down here in San Diego for awhile and can't make it.

If anyone who can make it want's to give me their PPD Hardsuit code though, I have an unused Freakshow code I'd be willing to trade...
  10. There's a lot of great ideas so far in this thread I'd love to see more on. The Dark Astoria idea is great, and Boomtown feels like it's overdue for a Faultline treatment as well.

More than any of the others though, I'd like to see a TF letting me go back in time and fight alongside/against Atlas during the WWII invasions though. That's the "big" one for me.

Also, I'd like to see a good arc that covers some more in depth background on the Snakes, possibly even being involved in their origin. I know there's stuff here & there, but I'd like alot more...
  11. Nice to see it as yet another option. Hopefully it gives NCNC some more money to pay for making cool stuff for us.

Personally, I doubt I'll ever use it, (except maybe on Test if it's free there) as I'm cheap to begin with and have lots of vetspecs laying around.

Now if they were to give me an option for a Archetype & powerset respec, I'd pay for that, even paying notably more, perhaps up to $25, because I have some older characters with irreplaceable badges (like 5th Columnist) that I'd love to "update" to some of the newer options among ATs and powersets.
  12. Since LH is passing on the feedback, I'll add my voice to the chorus. I may buy one of these game cards for the novelty of having the Britannia Pack for a month, or I may not. It is advantageous that I now have the option of paying for game time with my Target department store card.

However if we were offered a "Jet Pack Pack" on the NC Store, with a variety of customizable jetpacks as costume pieces, maybe free Rocket Boots, or possibly a new alternative rocket boot design, and either a either a 30 day real time or 2 hour game time temp power equivalent of Fly, or instead a permanent temp power of Hover (permanent free Fly would be too unbalancing, Hover is just a handy utility on the other hand), then I would definitely purchase it as immediately as possible, and would happily pay $5, $10, or even $20ish dollars for it.

I will point out that I still feel a little disappointed that the Wedding Pack didn't come with a token badge of some sort (and also the lack of a 3d lapel flower or two in chest options for jackets/over, but that's off topic) and would like to see some sort of "Rocketeer" like badge to go with such a pack.

EDIT: Ooh! and Rocket Gloves too. I want a set of Sky Raider gauntlets with a jet exhaust on the back for increased steering control while flying, and also for Rocket Assisted Uppercuts

I completely agree. Keeping us in the dark is annoying. I'm also losing interest with the game. I started played in Jan 2008 so learning the game kept my interest for a while and then i12 hit so it was ok. Now that I have a good chunk of the game down I am wanting the next issue

I see the mish creator is a hot topic but I think they should have dealt with other areas first. Going server-less is a big one. Also give each faction the ability to venture to the other side would be more important. As it stands the game divides the players way too much - spread over its numerous servers and then split between heroes or villains. Anyway, I hope this is being looked at

Any more info available for the future of this game in that address??

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you've really blown through every bit of content this game has to offer, on both sides, in 7 months...I think I can safely say you can forget about us ever being able to keep your appetite for new content sated.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've got to wholeheartedly agree with this. I've been playing for over 4 years, I have no job (on permanent disability), no life, and City of Heroes is my predominant hobby (as well as outlet for personal interaction with most of the human race), and there's a ton of stuff in the game that I still haven't done even once, much less mastered...
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    Very true.

Also re:bumping, we have been instructed in the past per a redname (think it was cuppa or cricket) that, prior to forum purges, we should indeed "bump" posts (such as the Mecha epic AT in S&I) that we don't want lost.

On another topic, how much will you be ramping up the mod staff? My concern on this can't be stated without breaking at least one, possibly two or three of the above forum rules. I can't actually expand that post to explain the question without running afoul of these.

And as for prior suggestions - well, wait, I can't actually discuss *that,* or discuss a way of helpign remedy that, without running into a few rules, as the suggestion has been suggested numerous times... frell.

No, I'm not being facetious (well, very.) Following these rules strictly, I can't voice the concerns the rules bring up. If I wanted to really feel technical, I'd say the discussion of the rules, despite being in a redname post, would themselves be a violation of the rules, as they're directly related to the guidelines for moderator action - and discussion of moderator actions (which not being spelled out would conceivably include future moderator actions) are against forum guidelines.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I gotta say that reading through the fresh rules and this thread makes me feel as if I should seek legal representation before posting. I'm concerned that over-moderation, or at least the fear of over-moderation may do more to stifle the constructive and useful posts and responses on this board. I'm all for trolls being suspended (and maybe banned if they show to be habitual in nature), and spam being deleted. However some degree of trolling and spamming (especially something as innocent as "/signed"... dang, those signers are really malicious, aren't they... practically trying to crash the boards.) is to be expected in a place where people have the capability to express themselves in a manner consistent with their personality, especially considering that many people who dedicate as much of their lives to an MMORPG as some of us do (including myself, though I'm sure somebody will take offense to my statements... in this day and age, everything will offend somebody, and they'll take the opportunity to try and get "revenge" for their sensitivity), some folks just aren't going to have communication skills on par with professional public speakers... if they did, they'd probably be professional public speakers of some sort or another, leaving little time to obsess over a video game.

I can't help but wonder if anything that I post (including feedback regarding beta testing or game features, especially if it is negative) is actually valued by anyone sufficiently for me to risk my account access by posting anything with an opinion attached to it. Of course, without attaching an opinion, is there any point to making the post? Maybe it would be safer just to leave the forums alone and limit myself to interacting only with the game itself, and presume that all that can be found here is politically correct admiration for the moderation that nobody is allowed to talk about... except I can't go with that, because that might make this post mistaken for an "I'm Leaving" post...

    [ QUOTE ]
[*]No necro-posting. Necro-posting is responding to an old discussion thread and is just a form of 'bumping.' One can bring up an old topic by starting a new thread and linking to the old discussion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't that specifically against the rules though, since we're supposed to post in existing topics instead of making a new post?

Gotta say, some serious cleaning of the boards and maybe a new search function would help alot with this... The SEARCH function on these boards has almost never resulted in anything useful for me. I either find hundreds of posts that have absolutely nothing to do with the context I'm actually searching for, until I spend a couple hours sifting through them, refining the search, repeating, and eventually get "No Matching Results", and then make a new post, and quickly get jumped on for posting about something that a thousand other threads have been made about, and "Why didn't you use the search function, noob!"

Perhaps if moderators would make a habit of merging new threads into old threads about the same topic, it might help, though that may be more effort than anyone's willing to put forth. It would certainly prove more constructive than people ranting about how we should have used the almighty [yeah, right] search function.

Immediate suspension or bans from the forum can result from any of the following:
The posting of pornography; discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive; excessive obscene or vulgar language; posts which discuss or illustrate illegal activity; providing links to sites that contain any of the aforementioned.

    8. Compare/Contrast and Off-topic threads.

Posts about other games or game companies, products or services not related to City of Heroes/Villains are not permitted in any of these forums. However, we do allow a wider variety of discussion topics in the Comic and Hero/Villain Culture forum and on the server forums. Non disruptive off topic discussion in those forums fits with the community of posters who frequent them. However discussion of competitive products/games (other MMO games), political, religious, or other volatile or disruptive topics will be removed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This one really irks me. When I see some feature in game X and want to offer the suggestion that it, or a variation of it, would work well in City of... I can get banned for it. Perhaps NCSoft would like to propagate the illusion that City of Heroes is the only game that any of us play, and that there are no viable ideas generated by any other company, but we all know that's just not true.

I agree that posting links to other games might qualify as advertising, and ranting about how "CoH sucks because Game X is better, blah, blah, blah" is certainly inappropriate, but I think that moderating someone for constructive comparisons and discussion that involves other games is going to do more harm than good.

    [ QUOTE ]
As for exploit postings, if it is an actual exploit, come to the forums and message one of the Community team about it, and we will forward it on to the proper sources to get it taken care of. By placing it on the forums you put it in a place where people can see it, use it and possibly be caught using an exploit, etc. etc. before it gets fixed.

By letting us know however, you have a direct tap to get it taken care of.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So are we ever going to get a list of specific criteria that helps us determine whether something is an exploit, a workaround, a simple bug, an unintended but tolerated feature, or an intended but undisclosed feature?

Sorry if my responses seem a bit varied, I'm catching up on this whole thread, before I go back to playing the game, which will probably keep me busy for awhile. I have keybind files that would leave Rube Goldberg slackjawed, and need to configure in some new ones to bring my new Dwarf Form into full functionality...

I'm glad the other pre-order helms are finally on the way. It's about time. Bummer for everyone who isn't an old-timer like many of us, and has to wait a couple of years, but at least it's on the way. It'd be great if at some point, all the pre-order helms were made colorable, but I'll take any costuming option I can get at this point, to help make up for the problem with VEAT costuming.

As for the additional power choice, I'm both underwhelmed by the options (because we already have the choice to pick the one that best fits our concept), and concerned about balance, as the vetreward powers can make for rather significant boosts to any attack chain... well, it's not as significant for blasters, but for everyone else, they're pretty big powers. Now my SS (with fire APP) can have 5 permanent, significant ranged attacks, plus the Rune of Warding... he may not need to close to melee anymore... I think some sort of choice for a utility power would have been better, like a choice between vet-versions of Aid Self or Hover...
  18. I find that the regen & recovery increases from the VEAT inherent make a huge difference for me. I'm a Fitness Pool addict, but could actually see going without it on some VEAT builds... of course on others I want it even more because it improves the effectiveness to those buffs by so much also... I wish I could put the VEAT inherent on some of my Tanks... They can maintain agro just fine without punchvoke, but have a hard time maintaining their blue bar...

How about a hero for hire system where we each account holder can create an NPC and put it in HERO FOR HIRE type system. Then we can go to the Hiring agency and pick up a sidekick for when we can't find a team (much like the NPC that follows you at the end of certain missions).

    [/ QUOTE ]
Now that would be a cool idea. Sometimes it is hard to get an extra person or two, and if you have an EB/AV mission you might be stuck. I'm a big badge hunter but getting a team for the Shadow Shard ones is impossible with the schedule I keep. Hiring a little extra help would be good. Could even make it an option that besides generic Heroes you could choose to put your characters into the system. Then I could 'team up' with my alts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That sounds like a pretty cool Suggestion . Sounds like something that should involve Hero Corps. Maybe Matthew Burke could found "Mercenaries Incorporated" for redside also. I'd love to be able to "hire" one (or more!) of my alts to accompany me on a mission as a NPC. Just being able to screenshot them together would be F'n cool!

Well I will post this since I haven't seen it anywhere else, although I didn't look very hard I admit. While doing the new TF make sure that you don't leave the zone for any reason or you will get kicked from the team and can't be reinvited.

I was doing it last week, before the last mission I figured I would run to the arena and pick up some inspirations. Upon leaving the Midnight Club, wham gone from team. Nothing I can do at that point but shop, go back, and hope to get a reinvite. Got back, but the leader couldn't invite me back. I filed a ticket with support but was told it was working as intended, that if you left the zone you would be dropped from the team.

The ironic thing is upon entering the previous mission the new player tip I got when entering stated that "You can not buy inspirations from contacts during a Task Force but you can purchase them during a Task Force form arena's and the consignment house". Oh well, so much for that being accurate.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is a good example of how much more annoying it is that Heroes & Villains are still kept on separate influence/infamy, and can't trade/give each other anything. Cooperative zones & missions would feel alot more cooperative if we could give each other inspirations. Really sucks to be the only hero or villain on a "cooperative" task force.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
The lag in the Cimerora TF is just discusting. The 3rd mish on the sand is not only blinding but the lag is so bad you can't hardly move. I did it last night on a team of 8 on relentless and we could hardly move. I send a petition I was so mad at the poorly developed map. (I've never sent a petition from lag or anything like that. I just send petitions when I'm stuck) In over 3 years of playing that was the most annoying TF I've ever done because of lag. Hami wasn't even that laggy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At least now i know I'm not the only person having the issue with the blinding sand. Did you get the same effect on the AV platform at the end of the mission (above & between the mechs)?

I also noticed this effect near the right-most Wentworth's representative in the Atlas WW, though it was much smaller. It's like a lighting effect that's set way too high or something. I haven't been able to eliminate the effect on any graphics setting on live
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I'm sure someone reported this. I'm still going to make this post anyhow

I constantly resize the chat window, by grabbing the top line and dragging it up screen and back down to see people talking. when i play i smash it down small, when i pause i bring it up. Worked fine before.

Issue 12 goes live:::: Now when i resize the chat window, the scrolling stops. I have to MANUALLY grab the scroll bar and move it all the way down to the bottom myself for it to lock to next posted message.

MEH. Fix this pelase. It's really REALLY annoying to not be able to see what people are saying.

Please put it back the way it was, that when someone posts it automatically drops the chat box to the most recent post (i.e. the end or bottom of the box).

As it is now, if i touch the chat box it unlocks the scrolling of the messages until i fix it manually. Not fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I disagree about just "making the way it used to be", perhaps if it could be made so that resizing the chat box has no effect on the scrollbar...

Also Semper_Fi, one thing you might try to get around this annoyance is to make a copy of your chat tab in another of the chat windows (like window 3 or something). Then keep the main chat window squished, and when you stop to talk, open window 3, which you position precisely to cover the squished window (but not the chat entry field). Then when You want to talk or stop talking to fight, you open/close window 3. That way the scrollbar won't be adjusted by changing the window size.

I know this doesn't work as perfectly as the prime chat window, since it has a split window, but if you need the split window, you could use two alternate chat windows. You could even set up a keybind to toggle them both on/off with one button press rather than messing with click/drag... then it's just a matter of positioning them the way you want
  24. I love the zone and the TF overall. I am disappointed in some aspects though...
I really wish the costume pieces were available another way that a level 35+ TF. I'd happily have paid 10 bucks to get access to them at chargen, so I could use them when developing a character in the first place, rather than waiting till the character's career is half finished before putting them on like a Halloween costume

I'd like to see more content in the zone, in some form or another, but I can wait on that. I just hope they continue to do more with it, rather than just letting it sit there, never being used for any more than it is now. It would be neat to see the island in modern times as another zone.

The TF itself is alot of fun, though I don't really care for the final fight. Romulus looks cool and all, but all in all it just seems like more of a pain than it needs to be, and not as interesting as it could be.

There is one technical issue I'm having with it though. In two locations in the third mission (the beach after you cross the first bridge, and the platform where the AV is) has this horrendously enhanced brightness, to the point where the whole area is just a pure white. I heard that some others have had this issue, on some graphics settings. I'm using the same settings I use on test though, and I didn't experience this on test. Any idea how to fix this? It's very problematic during a fight, especially with the AVs...
  25. [ QUOTE ]
I havent even made it to lvl 10 yet. In equal playing time my Widows has been fun and is 14 now. My Wolf is 9 and I am hating the experience to 24. Back in BEta when I played my first wolf, Heavy burst was single target HIGH damage. I think that made all the difference to me. All this minor damage crap is just horrible. Why do wolfs even have rifles? we mise well be throwing pebbles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, technically, they seem to be submachine guns rather than rifles (except for the shotgun choice... pity there isn't a shotgun blast in the mix... but that's kinda how I think of my Frag Grenade), which traditionally fire pistol ammo rather than rifle ammo. Now as much as I would like higher damage also, I find that they are generally sufficient in that area, and actually pretty impressive in large teams. Not only do they have the force multiplying team buffs (and at half the base endurance of the leadership pool, 3x effectiveness with maneuvers, and twice the base recovery of any other AT), but they can do a ton of AOE work. Heavy Burst may not be impressive single target, but when you rip into 5 guys with it, you're doing a LOT of damage overall, especially if you hit then with a WAWG (locking them in place and halving their attack speed) and a Venom Grenade (more DOT plus -20% resist debuff), that Heavy Burst gets pretty nasty. I found myself using it all the friggin time, and just enjoying the carnage.

The key to getting the most out of a Wolf is hunting in packs
