  1. This is the build I'm playing (literally) right now for my DB/DA Brute. Fury takes care of damage, letting me slot more for end red in attacks, although I tend to make end red a priority on any character (with some exceptions). It's a little 'soft' for team tanking, but I'm working on that. Badly in need of all the tasty slots that come in the thirties, but it does pretty well atm. I don't usually run Tough, or CoF, since neither is well slotted. End use is alright, though it should get better once I have more slots for the toggles. Dark Regen doesn't really need Healing enhanced, just end red, with Acc and Recharge to taste.

  2. As long as you don't plan to fight anything, you should be okay. Your end use will be cripplingly bad as is though. Obliteration is a bad choice for AoE's with very minimal End Reduction. You need more end reduction in almost everything, as just your toggles alone will drain you dry. Dark Armor + Fighting + Leadership will make you weep.

I would slot up CoF or drop it. It won't do much good with just the base slot.

Pick up a Theft of Essence proc for Dark Regen. It makes a big difference, especially in large groups of enemies.

    Oh well, maybe next week.
  4. Damn, there's some nice stuff in here. I could have sworn I posted in here, but after perusing 10 pages of art and costumes, I guess not. So what the hell...

    Suzy Homemaker

  5. Of those two, I'd go with Willpower because click mez protection annoys me.

Of them all, I went with Dark on my brute because I hate the Blue bar and want it to suffer and die horribly. Also because I like the DA set and it fit my concept. Electric also seems to be very popular for DB with extra recharge, a damage aura, and great heaping gobs of delicious end recovery.
  6. I really like Shields on tankers. Better Res/Def values, easy to soft-cap, and Shield Charge at 26 for 9 extra levels of smashing fun. Then again, getting KO Blow and Footstomp Early is nice too.
  7. Yeah, Unyielding is basically reducing the KB effect by 10,000%, then giving you 10 pts of KB protection for whatever's left. Which is likely nothing.
  8. I liked it. I went in expecting a Smallville episode, and got a Smallville episode. No point raging over the fact that the perennial C student didn't make valedictorian. It is what it was.

RP and good names. I know I've been stalking the 'new' servers to pilfer good names. I've been able to get a few of the names I've wanted for a long time between Zukunft and Union. So if you see Disavowed (villain) or Bangers and Smash running around, that's me.

I particularly like the non-English servers for name sniping. On Virtue people often suggest using non-English words to get good/interesting names, but it's the opposite on the non-English servers, so I can just plain grab good English names like Mourning Star and Wrecking Ball on Zukunft. Of course I can't understand what's going on 'cause everything's in German, but I'm a 'hit buttons 'til things die' kind of guy so I'm not worried.

Because I like good names, as you may have noticed, and you probably do too, check out the Virtue Name Watch for goodies, like a giant spreadsheet with tens of thousands of names thanks to Tempest_56.

This server is now gone to the rp-ing name junkies.

You don't need to be hit to build fury, just attacked, otherwise Shield, SR, Inv, etc would be gimped in that regard.

Inv or WP. Flip a coin.

    Advice on Trio?

Seems like a really solid group. Lots of debuffs, buffs, and heals, with a solid AoE-packing meatshield for the occasional time you need one. Should be able to handle most anything in PvE without much trouble.

    Go forth, and be awesome.
  15. First: The Virtue Name Watch

Secondly: Every name from the Virtue Name Watch in a spreadsheet (thanks to Tempest_56 for that)

Yeah, basically through 11,921 posts we had 24,008 names. There are similar threads on a couple other servers, but nothing like the original. Even if someone can't find a name for you, they'll usually provide the inspiration for one.
  16. ((I gave up after about 8 ET. Next week I guess. It'll give me time to work on some stuff anyway.))

“...but I haven't got all day so just shut up and listen.”

As the Chief of the Paragon City Police Department, Conrad Bochco knew exactly who was here to see him, and why. Commander Shannon Callahan, leader in the field of the Blue Shield team, the force's answer to meta-human heroes. He noted the fastidiously tidy uniform, and couldn't help but smile. He always enjoyed the first few months after a big promotion, when officers were still 'feeling' things out, and always trying to impress the boss, even if they were here to yell at him.

"Callahan, I'm glad you're here. Saves me from having to send someone to bring you in." Chief Bochco gestured to the seat across the desk from where he sat, and waited patiently for her to get seated before continuing. “For months now I've had a group of scientists, doctors, and internal affairs working on Hiller's case. For some time we've known there was something wrong with him. At first we thought it was just fits of rage, an aftereffect of the Supes he took while undercover, but not long ago one of the boys in the lab determined that Hiller's outbursts were being triggered.”

“Triggered!? What the hell are you talking about Chief? How the hell could you not tell...” she was practically yelling at the man who ran the whole damned department. From the grim look on his face it was not something he appreciated, or tolerated. So she settled back into her chair and waited for him to continue.

Leaning back in his chair he met the diminutive officer's gaze. "Finished? Good. We've finally gotten a lead as to who may be poisoning Officer Hiller. The lab techs have identified the drug that's been causing his outbursts. It's called Overdryve, and it's the latest, greatest, designer drug to come out of southeast Asia. It's a little like PCP on Crack for most people, but the drug is more effective on Superadyne users. Rage plus Supes kills the user. Overdryve plus Supes, however, creates a whole new kind of monster. Total loss of control."

She spoke softly for a change, mulling this new information over, "Tsoo?"

The chief nodded, "Yes, that was our assumption given the origin of the drug. I've got a civilian contractor looking into it for us." He held up his hand to cut short the objection Shannon was ready to launch. "I don't want to hear it Callahan. Mason is one of our best informants and she has solid contacts in the drug trade. Plus, she's met Officer Hiller in the past. Friends, you could say. She said she 'owes him one'."

Shannon 'Shenaniguns' Callahan thought about it for a moment. The Chief certainly wasn't in the mood for ******** today, so she kept it simple. "Orders, sir?"

The Chief leaned forward, clasping his hands together and resting them on the desk. "You'll meet with Miss Mason. She should have the information we need by now. She has my complete support in this, and she will have yours as well." He looked to the woman sitting across from her, waiting for a response. She nodded her head, and he continued, "You need to find the people providing the drug. They should be able to tell you which son of a ***** traitor's been poisoning my officer."

He rose out of his chair, and Shannon followed his lead. "I'll get the team together sir."

As she turned to leave, the Chief spoke once more. "Since Officer Hiller will have to sit this one out for obvious reasons, I'd suggest grabbing someone to help out." Picking up a file folder off his desk, he handed it to her. "None of these are PPD, but they are reliable and recommended by Blue Shield himself. We've been lucky so far Callahan. Hiller has only hit villain groups during his outbursts, but that luck could change. Don't screw this up or we'll all be in for a world of hurt."

"Thank you sir, we'll take care of it." Folder in hand she walked out of the Chief's office, flipping through its contents as she headed for the elevator at the end of the corridor: write-ups on a few of the city's up-and-coming heroes.

She could only hope the chief's trust wasn't misplaced. Mags might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he more than made up for it when **** hit the fan. A machine gun toting nurse? A university professor who controls earth? A mystic mercenary? Actual ninjas from ancient Japan?

"Where do they find these whack jobs," she mumbled to herself as she stepped into the waiting elevator and headed back to work.

((My apologies for taking liberties with your character mouse, although I tried to keep it as unobtrusive as possible. As you can see, Mags won't be available for this arc, and possibly not for the next arc, so I will have to bring someone else. With Shannon as our leader in the field, I figured it was only fair that she pick Mag's (temporary?) replacement.

Suzy Homemaker – 33 – Emp/AR Defender (probably the best fit conceptually)
Planet Smasher – 41 – Earth/Thermal Controller (easy going golden age hero)
Midnight Might – 37 – Elec/Dark Scrapper (dark avenger type seeking redemption)
Warrior Widow – 28 – Ninja/TA Mastermind (limited english, so no talking, just kicking and stabbing)

So, yeah, hopefully the arc works and you guys enjoy it. Let me know who to bring, or if you want some more info on any of them.))

    Thundergod

I liked it, though I probably would have liked it more not in 3D. Thor in 3D is pointless and didn't add anything other than eyestrain. I liked Renner's cameo, even if there wasn't much to it. The pacing was a little off, like there should have been more movie. I think the score on Rotten Tomatoes is pretty much bang on (78% atm).

  24. Good to hear you're okay todd. That's some crazy stuff going on down there; been catching it on the news. See you next week, and hope everything works out for you.

As for Mag's story progression, I've got a writeup done that'll pick up where mouse's left off and lead in to the first of Mag's story arcs. Dunno if you want me to throw that down, or wait for next week when we're all back. Let me know.
