Hey, Bab!
Is it possible, then, to make the glowing aura of powers, once they are clicked or toggled on, to fade out after a bit? I really dislike the glowing on my Invuln tanker, and at times it has been nexeccary to turn the toggles off in order to 'see' something close by.
There are numerous other powers like that, and many with a totally annoying sound effect that have caused me to need to lower the sound volume to practically nill in the game settings.
A way for these to all fade away would at least be a great start.
And then....instead of fading away, maybe folks could eventually be able to set the fade to a different color.
[/ QUOTE ]
Try going into your graphic options and turning the particle count down. With the particle count high the Invul toggles are obnoxiously bright. -

And who's to saw we aren't getting dual set of threatsnnew threasts to deal with. It's sounds like the 5th Column returning would fit nicely into the threat facing both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. And the return of Rikti 1 and friends sounds likes mutual danger for the new moon coop zone. (Yeah I've placed my bet on what the new zone is.) And yeah enemies becomeing friends sounds like the new coop-zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
Makes sense to me. Supposedly Hero-1 was much more powerful than Statesman. Add to that he's been Rikti-fied, and he's probably incredibly strong now, making hero/villain team ups nessecary. -

Back Alley Brawler and Ghost Widow used by their respective Devs. Some people said Lord Recluse was around too, but I never saw the "real" one, just the AV spawnedby the Widow, with his lackies. Heh, at one point she even spawned a bunch of 5th Column mobs.
And sadly, no Statesman. Guess he was too busy with MUO or something...I kid, I kid -
Go Synapse!
Who the heck is Synapse anyway? -
Great event. But as usually the case with events in PD, the extreme amount of lag really marred it. The strobe lights plus all the player character effects and powers = Ugh! Talking I8 Hami raid lag here.
But still a lot of fun. And Ghost Widow spawning all those Winter Lords in PD 8 and making people's dead bodies slide down the slopes was just hilarious. -
Dunno, if everybody's seen that blurb on the front page yet, but very cool guys. 15, 30, or 60 day cards. Now my only question is, are these cards going to be widely available? I can't find the old time cards around here at all.
Wal-Mart never has them. Target rarely has them. Can't even find them at any of the EBGames or Gamestops around here. But then again, all those stores are also packed to the brim with WoW time cards...
I've only ever been able to find CoH/V time cards at the sole CompUSA we have, but I have no idea if that store is on the company's chopping block or not. -

Here's what I had from back when, but I don't know where the original post about it is:
Levels 10-25: Fairy Wings, Insect Wings
Levels 26-40: Burned Wings, Draconic Wings
Levels 41-50: Bat Wings, Bone Wings, Cherubic Wings, Tech Wings
[/ QUOTE ]
Man.......that .......blows........
I've gotten 2 costume drops from scanner missions- nothing really good from street sweeping, so my hopes of getting lucky in Bloody Bay or Sirens Calll doesn't hold up hope....grrrrrrrrrr

Unfortunately I haven't been able to confirm or refute those level ranges. They could be outdated.
[/ QUOTE ]
They are, if it was like that. Not sure myself. As far as I know, only the IO recipes drop according to your level. However, the costume piece recipes are in Pool A, the general drop pool containing all the IO recipes. Meaning they can drop from anything you defeat, except GMs of course.

Okay.....a little relieved....................need insect wings on my insect controller- and I plan on farming a lvl 50 black swan mission until I get them....I know I know- BAD work_ethic Naughty!!!
But I really really really really reaaly reaaly really wnat the insect wings.......
[/ QUOTE ]
Well in the end you'll probably get them, either thru a lucky drop or having so much Influence built up from that farm that you'll be able to buy them at the CH. -

Actually make an effort to kill all the Repairmen when you take down each Tower, and they won't respawn them after they've been defeated. We accidentally left 1-2 alive and they rebuilt the thing in seconds, but that was the only one.
[/ QUOTE ]
You just described what I was talking about, accidentally missing the repairmen. Tell me, how much did LR regen while you had to stop and deal with the tower? What if another repairman somehow got thru later in that fight and you had to yet again stop and deal with a tower, letting LR regen again?.
[ QUOTE ]
The STF is great and perfect. I have given it a doublt thumbs up, twice, so it must be so.
Seriously though, if you are having dificulties, it is a matter of co-ordination and player tactics/compatability. I've been on teams with stone tanks and buffing/debuffing, but we couldn't get past mako. I've also been on teams where I am the only tank (Ice/Ice) and we run over the whole TF. This is the best designed TF in the intire game, in my opinion. It has consistantly been fun, even when pounding on Mako for an hour in an Elude loop.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't call that perfect. Beating on Mako for an hour is fun? Maybe if you're Silver Mantis's long lost sister
Call me crazy, but I just don't think a TF or SF should be so hard or frustrating that it can cause a team to give up and quit if they don't have the optimum team make up. With the RSF I really, really despised having to do that. Especially when not all of the team wanted to bail. Failed attempts left me a little bitter afterward, sometimes even made me wanna shut Co* off and not play it again for the rest of the night.
The reward is largely irrelevant, but nobody wants to spend hours doing something just to fail it in the end. May as well have not bothered doing it in the first place. Challenge is good and all, but Fun comes first. And it is not Fun to fail. -
I can see why you had an easy run. You had plenty of buffs and debuffs to go around. Plus the Shivans. Plus fighting by the boat probably gave you Longbow support too. But good job though.
Ideally I wish we could complete the STF(and RSF)with any team makeup and not relying on Shivans or Nukes.
Regarding the STF, there are 3 things that need to be looked at:
<ul type="square">[*]Ghost Widow's self heal. Unless you have a sufficient way to keep it from hitting, you're screwed. May as well be punching a brick wall. Do away with it. She's already hard enough as is, plus the high regen rate of AVs. A self heal on top of that is just overkill.[*]Mako's Super Elude. This is just nuts. He can use it as often as he wants and never suffers a penalty for it. Mako is just frustration incarnate, causing STF runs to be given up on due to just him. Again, do away with it, or at the very least drastically increase the recharge time on it. And he's a Stalker? More like a SR Brute if you ask me.[*]Lord Recluse's Buff Towers. Not a huge fan of the whole "gimmick" here that's sometimes used in video games of 'Destroy these so you can damage the boss, and keep destroying them if they get healed/fixed'. I know the idea is to keep the repairmen away from them, but inevitably one will slip thru, and due to how much damage it takes to destroy one, people could get downright severely frustrated by having to pound on them all over again. And in that time Recluse could regen right back to full health, adding further frustration. Also, who really wants to get stuck clearing the repairmen while the rest of the team is fighting Lord Recluse? Lose the repairmen entirely, or reduce how often LR can summon them, or make the Towers easier to destroy. As it is, the Towers are like fighting a lower level AV that doesn't fight back.
-
Tried the STF again tonight with some friends and a few pick ups. First 4 missions went by without much of a problem, despite a PB rushing in and grabbing the Aeon temp power before I could tell him not to.
But Murphy's Law struck in the final mission, in spades. From the get go 2 people crashed in the loading screen. One came back and was able to get in fine. The other crashed in the loading screen again. He came back and was finally able to get in, and we were finally able to start. We went to the little alleyway off the side of the square area where the AVs are, and initially pulled Mako. He came by himself at first, but then Scorpion showed up. We kept pounding on Mako, and I think he hit his Elude once. We had him whittled down pretty good when Scirocco and the Widow showed up out of nowhere, despite us being totally out of LoS. And of course with all 4 of them it went south. Team wipe plus the fella that crashed twice in the loading screen crashed in the middle of the fighting. As far as me and my friends could tell, one of the pick ups might have been flying or something, getting the aggro due to the AVs high perception. If not, something's seriously broken, cuz AVs just don't spontaneously aggro. After that we just couldn't get anything going due to them being linked. The fella that kept crashing, crashed yet again and didn't come back, and we decided to call it quits. -
Throughout this entire thread there's one, almost unamimous thought: Cap'n Mako is borked! There's just something really wrong when one of Lord Recluse's flunkies is as hard or harder to take down than he is. The problem seems to be Mako's Super Elude. Tone it down or just remove it from him and we'll have a pretty enjoyable final mission.
At least with the RSF, none of the Phanlaxers have a "You can't hurt me" button they can keep hitting every so often. -
[ QUOTE ]
As for the Towers, I'm in total agreement. People who complain that the towers were Revived should have been more careful with the Techs. Techs MUST DI... er... Be ARRESTED! No if ands or buts. No fancy gimmics, just good ol' fashioned kicking the Tech the moment his little grey conning name appears. If a Tower is revived it is a sign of a serious flaw in your teams tactics.
=. .=
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, IMO, I just don't think it's balanced, in terms of how much damage it takes to destroy a Tower(which is like fighting an AV that doesn't fight back) vs. how fast the repairmen can repair them. Also, I don't think it's very realistic at all that the things can be rebuilt in an instant after we blow them to bits.
My suggestions: Make the Towers a little easier to destroy, reduce how often the repairmen spawn, or change them so they can't repair the things in an instant to give some leeway. -
Ran it a couple hours ago. The team make up was 1 scrapper(me), 2 blasters, 3 trollers, 1 def, 1 granite tank.
All in all, it was a challenging piece of cake, until the last mission. We had trouble pulling at first and got all 4 of the Patrons, which ended in team wipes. Thank god they put a hosp on the map. But we did manage to get better pulls. Took out Mako first. Not sure what it was, but he never ran around. Then we took out the rest of them. Still took awhile to take each one down. Even with sufficient debuffs it seemed like we just weren't doing a lot of damage.
Then came the part with the Recluse. I just wanna say that I am not a fan of the whole towers gimmick, as it is now. They conned at lv52 and just seemed to take forever to destroy. Took the red and green ones out, then started on the yellow one. Had barely dented the yellow one when the red one got repaired, then the green one after that. About that time the tank announced he had to go, as did one of the trollers. So we just called it quits.
So yeah, kinda disliking the whole towers gimmick. Either they need to be easier to destroy or the repair guys have to go. -
Just wanted to point out that all the "Lightning" patterns(chest, bottom, gloves, and boots), do not match together seemlessy when used together on Male and Huge body models. Seems to be okay on the Female body.
What I mean is, the lightning bolt designs don't line up perfectly with each other at the "seams" where gloves and sleeves meet, where the chest and bottoms meet, and where the bottoms and boots meet. It looks tacky and makes using them all together unviable. -

The Problems
<ul type="square">[*] Hamidon raids are a hotspot for griefing[*] Hamidon raids reward Leeching
[/ QUOTE ]
It's unclear to me how this new implementation solves these problems. The word "leech" (and variants) doesn't occur again in the article. Griefing is explained away by this vague bit:
[ QUOTE ]
Weve also changed the way Hamidon spawns Mitochondria to protect himself as hes damaged. This change will prevent a raid from ever reaching the dreaded sea of orange names or yellow dawn, which also greatly reduces the impact of rogue players attempting to grief a Hamidon raid.
[/ QUOTE ]
So what's to stop a lone griefer from training giant monsters on the raiders? Or monkeying with Hami or mito aggro?
Instancing would have stopped both griefing and leeching much more decisively, but
[ QUOTE ]
We recognize that Hamidon raids are a big social event as well as a PvE encounter. They're a unique opportunity for a lot of players to congregate in one place and fight one common enemy. Because of this, we chose to not go with an instanced trial.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure how 50 random people defeating Hami is any more social than 50 people who know one another doing it. If you instanced it, it would still be x people (where x is however many required to defeat Hami) being social. As it stands now, it will be x people and (50-x) griefers, leechers or gawkers.
I don't know, but it seems like instancing was eschewed for questionable benefit in a case where it would have solved two explicit problems.
Scrap
[/ QUOTE ]
But the big problem is, how exactly do you setup Hami as a private instance for 40-50 people? The tech for that simply may not exist. Of course the logical thought is make it like the CoP trial. But how do you make a setup like that accessible to the general public? That's the problem. Again, the tech to make that possible may not exist, or be possible to implement. Besides, sometimes it's hard enough to get one 8 man team going. Imagine trying to get five teams organized and running. -
[ QUOTE ]
Great....they just ruined the Hamidon.
50 player cap? Don't like it. I love big groups and the lag does not bother me at all. I really don't know what you guys are thinking but I'm starting to have doubts. Ever take into consideration that other people do like the giant raid groups and all the stuff that goes on during the raid? Wonder how many people they actually interviewed to get that pole count on changing Hamidon.....
Dev points in my book: -34
[/ QUOTE ]
How can you actually LIKE the train wreck that is the current Hami raid? It's a huge lagfest, especially when the zone caps out. Auto follow a mito targeter if you're a damage dealer, and punch the keys on your KB and watch your powers activate 5 mins later since everything's running at a very slow slideshow. Then go sit on a rock and wait as all the controllers pile around Hami and put themselves on Auto. Oh wait, a bunch of griefers might show up and cause a yellow dawn, wasting your time spent on the raid. And don't forget, if you're a tanker you only have two things to do at a raid: Jack and Squat
I'm sorry, but the current Hamidon setup is just a huge flop. It's not a raid when 90% of the players in the Hive are just standing around waiting for Hami to drop, while the other 10% are on Auto while they're off making a sandwich or something. Games like WoW and such got the idea right(execution by the players is another thing). CoH did not, but with I9 it's finally moving in the right direction. -
It all sounds good. 50 player cap sounds about right. Two lingering questions though:
a) What's the minimum number of players it'll take to bring down Hami?
and b) Are the GMs in the Hive/Abyss going to be reworked so they're easier to kill? I ask that because, unless you have a Rad or two on the team spamming Lingering Radiation, GMs take forever to kill due to their high regen rate. Not many people will wanna beat on the GMs much more than the bare minimum it'll take to spawn Hamidon. Special inspiration be damned. -
[ QUOTE ]
Software to match the lowest order to the lowest offer is not a bad idea
[/ QUOTE ]
I suspect that's the way it'll work. Otherwise, no lower level folk will have the slightest chance at all of getting that rare piece of salvage or IO they need because of the multitude of 50s out there constantly putting up Buy Orders with extravagant prices. -
That kinda leaves solo players out in the cold though. As did the Vday event too.
-

You assume one thing though, that the buyer won't research the selling price of the item they want by looking at the last 10 sold. 9 times out of 10, a potential buyer is gonna look it up, because no sane person wants to drastically overbid if they can get what they want cheap. Sure, there will be the oddball buyers that will buy something for an extravagant price, but what can you do? Besides, if you or I hit WW's looking for the same thing that they bought, and see just 1 sold for 5 million inf while the rest sold for 100k, we can both safely ignore that one sale.
Same thing if we're selling the same item instead. I'd hedge my bet on selling it at the price that 9 of them went for, rather than waste time and inf hoping someone buys mine for 5 mil. I'd bet most sellers will think the same way. Yeah some will see that one went for 5 mil and try to sell at the same price, but with everyone else selling at 100k, they'll probably fail. -
