Nova + CaB + Conserve Power
[/ QUOTE ]
I tend to go for:
Conserve Power + Nova + CaB
As you've (usually) got lots of spare end pre-Nova, and if you fire CP up then it doesn't take a chunk out of the post-Nova CaB. -
My own thoughts, FWIW.
I'd drop the EndRed slot from Fly - with 3-slotted Stamina you don't need it for travel purposes, and Fly's too much of a pain to use in combat even without the End cost. Hover + Power Boost do the job in combat nicely.
I'd try to get Boost Range into the build somewhere - this is permable with 3 white RecRed SOs, and hugely useful. Increases your standard attacks' ranges to match Snipe, and gets the Snipe ramped up so you can out-range sniper-type mobs. If I had to pick something to drop to make space for it it'd be Super Speed - if you can get by without it up to level 30, it's probably not essential.
My own tuppence on Nova is go for it, and keep the RecReds in there. As Silver Weasel says it's not ideal in all circumstances - if you're soloing it's more hassle than it's worth given that you'll only catch a handful of mobs with it at best. Teamed, though, you can clear most of a large group then back off sharpish while the survivors get their bearings. If the team's any good they'll be grabbing/holding aggro and cleaning up while you wait for your end to come back; with CP before and a blue after, or a friendly Kinetic, you don't even need to do the waiting bit. -
A little after the event, but thanks to all for a v good SF and particularly to Lucius/Gabriel for organising it!
A very professional team, with minimal faceplanting throughout and only the one loss while sorting the Eye at the very end (and the Eye itself only took 1-2 minutes - go Team Us!).
6 bars, a shiny and several SOs of just the right level - loverly! -
Potentially interested, as IIRC one of my lower level alts (Darkhawk or Grafite, I forget which) has yet to do this.
If I can make it on time I'll see you in Striga at the contact! -
Ages since I did a SF (or a TF, for that matter...). A space reserved for Alathar would be much appreciated!
-
I've got a low level bots/poison MM, and the only things I can see that you might want to consider finding space for are the poison rez and status protection powers (whose names escape me while I'm sat in the office).
The rez power would only be at all useful if you team a lot, but without the status protection power you might find your minions spending a lot of time mezzed in the later game. -
Thanks to you both for the replies - looks like Blaskstar's on the shopping list then.
-
My D2C's slowly inching towards 32 and access to his top primary power, Blackstar.
My question for those that have been there before me is simply: is it worth taking?
I'm used to Nova from my main, and BU + Aim + Nova does do a fair amount of damage but even then leaves bosses and some leuts standing on typically hard missions.
So does Blackstar, sans BU, sans Aim, and with Corruptor damage < Blaster damage in general, really cut it? -
Gratz to you both! One of these days I will make it onto a mission with you Mauve, honest!
-
Thought I'd posted this once, but the forum seems to have lost it...
I should be able to make it with Sushi-san, a probably-35 (maybe just 36 by then, but unlikely) scrapper. -
I'll try to make this as Sushi-san; as an Inv scrapper he can also tank a bit, so long as there's someone with rez powers about.
-
Gah - would love to be along on this, but will be away until Sunday mid-afternoon at the very earliest.
Ah well, them's the breaks; give the AVs hell guys, and don't forget to make the speedsters use the Gravity Geysers. Their repeated burning off of us flyers the all the other zones needs some payback! -
As in the subject - my new mastermind's picked this mission up, and any and all who want to come along on it are welcome (up to a maximum of 7!
).

Thanks for the team who helped:

"Run"? He was driving a bloody Ferrari!
But in any event big gratz to you Blapps/D - so what are you 50ing in March? -
Moondog, your level's fine from a teaming point of view, but IIRC the mission tends to be in Crey's and that's a minimum level 30 hazard zone.
Turn up anyway and we can see where the mission's set - fingers crossed for a non-hazard! -
Entirely acceptable - see you later!
-
My scrapper's just picked up the "save hacker" mission that grants the Doctor's Ally badge, and will be setting off on it at the specified time this evening.
This badge is a pre-requisite for the Conspiracy Theorist Accolade, if anyone want's more reason to get it than "it's nice and shiny".
Meet at Bricks station, and we can go do the deed.
(Level not important - happy to storm this if we can't find exemplars for any high levels that want to come along) -
Big gratz to you, Phil!
Sorry to have missed the team, but whenever I checked on global you had a full house so I'm guessing you weren't lonely at any point.
Edit: Fixed typo -
Would love to be there to see Lord Phil ding and (strictly secondarily!) because I need the Tyrant badge myself too.
But regular Monday evening teaming commitments mean I may not be able to make it.Will try to be there for at least part of it, if there's space when I'm free - have a good AV bash in any event!
-
Gratz Chango - another one at the top of the world!

No Energy Blaster would use Nova on an AV/or PvP/or on a Timed Mission/or where he was soloing unless he was showing off; so why would you take this Tier 9 power anymore?
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't comment on PvP, but:
* A Nova would barely have scratched an AV even before ED
* If soloing it's the one that you miss completely that kill you (so no ED-related change there either)
* I can't for the life of me see why you wouldn't use Nova on a Timed Mission, pre- or post-ED; you get 30 seconds inactive in return for masses of damage for a big crowd, and unless you're only catching 4-5 in the boom that's going to speed things up whether the mission's timed or not.
With BU + Aim my main's ED Nova flattens minions up to orange/red (depending on villain type), yellow/orange leuts and gives bosses and higher leuts a bad headache. Anything I hit but don't finish off tends to go flying, allowing me to scamper off backwards and wait for the end to come back while the rest of the team clean up.
So to answer the question, you'd take Nova for when you're on a team and not actively fighting an AV, which seems like it covers a lot of territory to me.
(Don't like several aspects of ED, but also don't think it's rebalanced/debalanced the Energy primary in any significant way.)
