Very interesting, but what I'm slowly wondering about is, are we down to one Issue per year now?
I know, it sounds like a rant but it's not.
I'm really just wondering if we are going to see I13 this year.
I slowly start to doubt that.
So far no announcements yet and even if they announce it now, it will take them some to start closed beta testing. After that we can expect some open beta testing before it goes life.
Considering that I13 is supposed to be a large Issue, I can't see it being released this year. Which I find a bit dissapointing (okay little rant here, but I guess that's normal to be a bit dissapointed). Though, what frightens me more then a I13 in 2009 is a rushed I13 in 2008.
Anyway, enough of I13. With CO and DCUO it's only normal that CoH/CoV has to evolve. Either by making a sequel or making the current game more worthwile to play.

It's over 3 months to the end of the year, which seems like plenty of time to get both closed and public beta thoroughly completed - even for a large issue. As far as announcements are concerned, they can delay those as long as they want without impacting on the actual release date in the slightest.
With that much time to go don't you think it's a but premature to start talking about "doubt" "disappointment" and being "frightened"? -

The question really should be: would it be more fun for all players if the Ritki/Lost bosses use control powers in melee?
[/ QUOTE ]
To which my answer would be "no".
Given the way player and mob targetting works there's little enough scope for tactics in combat as it is; "close quickly to force melee attacks" is one of the few options available beyond pressing buttons until someone falls over, so I say keep it in! -

On that subject, one thing that can go in there are the changes made to PVE to "balance PVP". Why? It's possible to have a different set of effects of a power when it's against a player or "critter", so why not just change that attribute of it? Don't stuff up PVE just to please the PVP minority tyvm.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just a quick and utterly honest question from someone whose search-fu is weak: When was the last time there was a 'nerf' explicitly and officially stated as being for PvP reasons? And, given whatever the answer to that question is, why does everyone think that nerfs are caused by PvP balance issues?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure how "officially" this was ever admitted, but to my mind the most recent one (and it is fairly recent) would be the "using any phase shift locks out all other phase shift power for 30 secs" one. Why? Because I can't see chaining phase shifts having been an issue at all in PvE.
I doubt there's anyone that thinks all nerfs are down to PvP, but FWIW I believe some of them are. -

Constant nerfs against single powers instead of boosting the rest
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, it's so much easier to balance things if you adjust 100+ other powers all at once, rather than the single one that's actually out of whack. -
[ QUOTE ]
(I agree with nom though, this should be under technical support or something)
[/ QUOTE ]
The German Technical Support forum for Zukunft sounds ideal.
Anyway, happy birthday Cry, wherever you're spending it! -
Ugh, no thanks!
Getting in close so particular mob types stop using their ranged mezzes is one of the core tactics my solo squishies use! -

2) Lack of Auras- simple. also why is the colour black, so well cr*p for auras. u can hardly see it. i know it might be like dark armour. however they can just adjust it.
[/ QUOTE ]
The technical reason for that one's that auras are implemented as additative colours; whatever the underlying colour, an aura's colour is added (as Red Green Blue levels) to the top of it to get the overall effect. Works fine for most colours, but as black has Red=0, Blue=0, Green=0, "adding" black to any underlying colour doesn't change it in the slightest. Bit of a faux pas when they were designing the system, IMHO.
Anyway, my list for the Room:
1) Giant Monsters. At the moment they're neither fish nor fowl; their hits have been beefed up so you need several teams to take one down, while their rewards have been lowered so much it's not worth the while of even one team making the effort. Do these sad, ignored monsters a favour, and end their unloved multiple wandering through Kings and IP.
2) "Looks like you're busy at the moment"...or, what they really mean: "I'm a regular contact on the closest of terms with you, you're on a critically important Task Force for a signature hero, need to prep for an AV fight, so...no, I won't sell you any insps". Gah!
3) Villain side; doing one of several arcs, and get sent to visit another contact part way through. Other contact: "I don't like what you're doing, so do what I say now or you'll be in big trouble.". Me: "What!?! Only a 'Yes, OK' option, no 'Punch his lights out and hang the consequences!?!?'". More gah! -
IIRC there was indeed a problem with that sort of thing; procs in IO sets (chance to stun ones were mentioned most often) would hit the owner rather than the mobs, leading to amusing (but not very desirable) situations where toons were knocking themselves senseless.
The "fix" for this was to make Taunt sets unslottable in taunt auras, and to the best of my knowledge a proper fix is still unimplemented. And without an ETA. -
Variation on Frequent Suggestions, item #5.
There are lots of ways this could be implemented, and your system's as good a one as any, but I think the main obstacle's the devs deciding they want to provide an easy inf/whatever transfer system in the first place. -

One question on the build. Shouldn't you slot an endurance in power boost instead of recharge? I mean, to have more endurance.

Fool! Slot Smoke with 3 End Mods and your endurance problems are things of the past! -

Full zone revamp - probably a new high water mark, given GR's original post covering the scope of suggestions:

This thread is for smaller suggestions (eg the extra power trays added recently) and not entire new features.

My suggestion's that you read the "Frequent Suggestions - PLEASE READ!" post pinned at the top of the forum. Number 4 in the list...
And maybe the "Power Weapon Customisation" thread started on Monday... -
When the hell are the devs going to do something about the terrible server population problems on the EU side?
Every day I try to play my toons, and every day some n00b bothers me with tells about teaming or some such nonsense! Every day!
If we had more EU servers there'd be far fewer people invading my space and trying to do stuff I don't want to. And don't you fools be telling me to turn on hide or set messages or any nonsense like that - I shouldn't need to put myself out to keep the n00bs at bay, so I ain't opening no dialogs to stop them doing something they shouldn't do in the first place.
I pay my subscriptions, and I'm entitled to more servers so I can play how I want! -
There are separate "hidden to global friends" and "hidden to tells" options with the new system.
As I understand it if your friends are hidden to tells, but not friends (i.e. you!), you'll get the clearly inaccurate "may be offline" responses you've been seeing. -

fonetic, surely?

Nope, it's phonetic; and not everyone can read phonetic spellings...Or perhaps just don't want to contribute to the continued development of illiteracy on the internet.

Agreed - I can see the police following up a theft even if the thief had been handed the keys.
The insurance company, on the other hand, would almost certainly point to the "take proper precautions" clause in the contract and refuse to replace any of the stolen items.
All of which is a little irrelevant, as this isn't a real world situation and NCSoft have been quite clear what their position is on this sort of thing. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's worth noting that after level 35 or so, most of you influence or infamy gain will come not from defeating mobs but selling the things that drop, so you can still make a fair bit of money whilst staying permanently in sg mode.
[/ QUOTE ]
In my experience you can make inf from invention salvage drops near enough from the word go. They start dropping level 7-8ish, and as many of the common items can be sold for 10s of k you can easily have several hundred k of inf as you hit level 12 and start thinking about slotting useful enhs. -

Having played three and a half years you must have more friends out there than the one individual who has royally p****d you off. I'm sure word of mouth to your friends can cause this individual some aggro at least.
[/ QUOTE ]
...and get your friends mod attention if their own actions can be counted as harassment.
I'd very strongly advise against going down that road. -

Otherwise I'm looking at 2 500GB in RAID 0. Any thoughts?
[/ QUOTE ]
A 1Tb RAID 0 setup is begging for trouble. If you really want to lose that much data, then by all means, go ahead, but embedded RAID controllers on consumer motherboard are almost always cheap and/or nasty and likely to lead to array failures or at least errors, which with RAID 0 usually means total data loss.
[/ QUOTE ]
True. You could get the same behaviour as the RAID 0 system - with much less setup hassle - if you buy a single 1TB drive and hit it with a hammer occasionally. -
[ QUOTE ]
So considering the circumstances I think we did pretty good.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd agree with that - IMHO you handled a difficult situation well, and there really isn't any reasonable ground for complaint. -

Can someone explain to me more clearly NC's excuse for being unable to this, I can understand the animator might not have instant access to the tools but what does 'baked in' mean exactly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Everything you ever wanted to know about Power Customisation, and more...
Edit: And "baked in" means the "red" on a fireball isn't just one colour overlaid on a generic fireball that could just was well be any colour; the redness is as much a part of the fx as the animation, so you'd need to completely recreate the fx to change its colour. -
FYI, Lighthouse's latest on this:

I'll contribute by adding this 39 page thread to the discussion.
Started a few weeks ago, covering essentially the same issue, I'm not sure there are any significant developments since then.
