Those sets with Triple/Quad bonuses are best used for this sort of thing IMO there overall enhancment percentage per slot is greater then doubles.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    They are; from here:

    [ QUOTE ]
For IOs that boost two aspects, each aspect gets 5/8ths the normal bonus. Though each individual aspect gets less boost than a one-aspect IO would give, the total combined bonus is one-and-a-quarter times as large. Similarly, three-aspect IOs boost each aspect by half the normal amount, for an aggregate total of one-and-a-half times. Four-aspect IOs boost each aspect by 0.4375 times the normal amount, for an aggregate total one-and-three-quarters times as large.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course, depending on which power you're slotting there may not be IOs with the desired combinations of aspects available.

    Weapon holders

    [ QUOTE ]
This may have ben mentioned b4, not sure, but is it possible to get weapon holders for guns, katana or broadswords?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    It's had the occasional mention.

(The last one was a week ago.)
  3. Max, Leif, you know how thorough (read "pedantic") I am about the things we discuss on these forums? I regard some things as too devastating to those involved to drag into the nit-picking "who said what" and "just what did this mean" exchanges things tend to end up as, so at this point I'll drop out of the thread.

    [ QUOTE ]
If "you" are that hardcore and like PvP, try out Shadowbane, Lineage2 or some FPS games or join the Army.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Army is hardcore? Hah. When was the last time the Army went to war with someone who could give them a challenge? The Army is just base-camping, spawn-killing, ganking noob-hunters.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Nice Leif, real nice. 1 2 3
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Makes it a bit more interesting levelling up too and plotting what piece to aim for next. Had great fun finishing frankenslotting my Lich last night ("Oooh, Chance for Recharge Debuff. Nice").

Given the rate I level at there's absolutely no point in me waiting until 50, I'd never get to play with the system. Plus you get more bang to your partially slotted powers if you frankenslot as you go (I had EMP Arrow beautifully slotted at 39 on my Grav/TA thanks to frankenslotting Acc/Recharge/Hold IOs).

    [/ QUOTE ]
Definitely the same here as far as not waiting until 50 goes; as well as the slow levelling there's also the fact that once a toon's hit 50 it's pretty much finished with for me - never been one for polishing builds or badgehunting once the level cap's been reached.

On the way up I might pay a bit of attention to set bonuses, particularly from the mid-30s and higher - if I'm at the AH and notice there's a reasonably priced set with decent bonuses available there and then, I'll go for it. If not, Frankenslotting FTW.
  6. The first sentence in the article you linked to does sort of answer your question:

    [ QUOTE ]
This is a base Control Aux item that is currently not available in game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I,m sure this has been brought up before, altho I have never seen a post for it .We see lots of bus stops but we never see any buses running round the place, anyone know why ?

    [/ QUOTE ]
There was one 2 days ago.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
/signed. dont want to damage teammates but I think this idea would change combat dynamics by a small amount which would only make things more interesting. oh, and for the record, I play a precision blaster as my main.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This idea would change combat dynamics hugely, particularly on maps where people are already struggling for space (looking at you, caves).

Most MM primaries would become useless without a major AI rewrite.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Aye, imagine a Necro/Traps with Vengence.

Detonator > Vengie > Extract Spirit > Resummon pet

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd swap the Vengie and Resummon pet; the dead minion hangs around for a fair while, and with the swap the resummoned one picks up the Veng buff too.

  10. I'll vote for this.

Raven, the reason I'll often want to is when I'm placing slots - if (say) all of my attack powers could take extra slots, and all but 2 of are capped for damage, it'd be good to be able check which 2 to add extra slots for.

    [ QUOTE ]
Well you can IO at low levels. I often do with a few Accuracy IOs in the teens,

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is where my disbelief kicks in. How do you afford the components for these "few accuracy IOs"?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Either drops of exactly what you want, if you're lucky, or by selling other drops. Plus they give you one for free when you do the Invention tutorial.

This really isn't an issue of faith; I've done it several times myself, so can confirm it's more than just a theoretical possibility.

    [ QUOTE ]
There has to be something wrong when the components for sub-level 25 Accuracy are cheaper than those for the 30+ Accuracy IOs.

This is, of course, just one example.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It'd be wrong if there was any sort of documentation saying components were meant to be priced in some particular order. There isn't, and prices find their own level according to market conditions; under that system, everything's working as it should.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
When did this turn from a 'QoL suggestion thread' to a 'is this a QoL sugestion?' thread or a 'Abuse the noobs cos they don't understand and share the same concept of the phrase as me' thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You think people have been abusing other posters? Then press the "notify mod" button, as that's against the EULA. Although FWIW I wouldn't count comments that amount to "this isn't really a QoL issue" as abuse.

And while there is some discretion on exactly what falls under GR's original remark that:

    [ QUOTE ]
This thread is for smaller suggestions (eg the extra power trays added recently) and not entire new features.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think it's more than just a difference in interpreting concepts to say that (to pick a few suggestions) complete zone revamps, new costume design concepts and freely customisable powers (not power effects, actual powers...) fall outside the OP's brief...

    Here you go

    [ QUOTE ]
It isn't like they make that much difference anyway.

[/ QUOTE ] Oh well, let's have them removed then?

    [/ QUOTE ]
As it wasn't me that said that I don't feel any huge need to defend it; even so, variety is the spice of life, and there's nothing at all to be gained by removing them, so why on earth do so?

If nothing else they can give new players experience of IOs at an early stage.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
No more for them than for everyone else

[/ QUOTE ] Not the case. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twinking

    [/ QUOTE ]
OK, if you've got the time to run a dedicated farming toon, and pass the inf over somehow, you can fund lower levels so they can get more that they could otherwise. Not that they'd be getting zip for themselves without the help.

If you don't farm though, all your high level toons are skint too from buying their own IOs (I speak from penniless experience here), so all the way from 10 up to 50 your toons have some IOs and are working towards getting more.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
You can get something useful though, and that seems reasonable to me.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, I'd agree if it were true. I'm putting the argument that you can't get something reasonable at low levels if you are new.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And I'll state as a fact that I've experimented with IO sets in the low teens, with absolutely no twinking involved.

Even with regular drops you can get enough to mess about with them then, if you're lucky and get a drop you can sell for 500k+ you can go to town (as much as limited slots at that level will permit, anyway).

Edit: Not, as others have said, that IOs turned out to be hugely better than regular enhs at that level. Noticeably better, yes, with multiple aspect bonuses coming in, but IMHO probably a bit more trouble than they're worth given how quickly you level beyond them and are able slot enhs with significantly better bonuses.
  16. Jack sometimes (OK, usually) needs a bit of help to spawn; details here.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
What about new players who DO like it, and don't want to ignore it? It's not even optional for them, it's effectively financially prohibited.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No more for them than for everyone else; I generally start IOing toons in the 20s, and it's a piecemeal process up all the way up to 50.

There's never - in my experience - enough inf to hand to get exactly what you want in all slots, whether you're level 11 or level 49. You can get something useful though, and that seems reasonable to me.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I should note that a suggestion discussed in detail on the French forums has already been passed along for consideration at NCNC (it was also suggested here on the English), and any other good ideas that crop up will likewise be sent over.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
While not ideas Per Se, I hope that much of the constructive critiscm as possible is fed back to red names.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What has disturbed me about all this (and probably why i've gone over it so much) is that this really isnt something that they should need our advice about. Theyre supposed to be professionals backed by a corporation for heavens sake and this really really isnt rocket science.

    [/ QUOTE ]
TBH nothing I've seen suggests that they do actually need our advice. Sure, lots of us will give it, on all sorts of topics, and it never hurts to listen to what customers are saying...as long as you don't give too much weight to what's ultimately a very small fraction of the subscribers.

Feedback from forums might suggest ideas, or refinements, NCNC wouldn't come up with so quickly themselves - there are more of us on the customer side, after all - or give hints on how well changes are going down. That's a long way from the feedback being an absolute necessity, though.

    [ QUOTE ]
And you know something else? I have to say, in my business life I had never given or taken a restricted trial. Everyone who gives me a trial gives me full use of the product for a limited time. Then they ask me if I want to keep it. And i do exactly the same.

I'm not actually sure that this limited trial business has anything going for it in the first place.

    [/ QUOTE ]
FWIW my own company mainly does full product/limited time trials too (with a limited product/limited (but rather long) time version for university courses), but I can see different types of trial being more applicable in different circumstances.

Given the nature of CoX accounts NCSoft will have 100% accurate figures for how many trial accounts are being opened, and how many are then being converted to full accounts as they expire. Presumably they're also tracking changes to the numbers as they vary the capabilities of trial accounts, and will back pedal a bit if they find restrictions are so tight there's a marked drop off in full account takeups.
  19. [ QUOTE ]

Secondly in the post above this it mentions how i am not playing the game and i am instead on here wasting time explaining myself to people that are not listening and obviously to some people that are not reading the posts that they are replying to. So to sum that up throughout todays getting involved with this stupidity i have spent at least 2 hours on this thread reading and replying which in turn has meant i have spent 2 hours less playing the game which even to people with little or no intellect whatsoever can surely be construed as affecting somebodies enjoyment of the game. if you read my posts in this thread i have said absolutely nothing different here to what i have said previously except the fact that this particular post has had to be laboriously lengthened and ellaborated on so that i feel confident that even a child can understand it,so maybe with a little bit of luck it is not going to have another stupid question asked of it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So we disagree with you because we're not paying attention and/or have little or no intellect, rather than because we have valid opinions that differ from your own. Fair enough.

    [ QUOTE ]
Lastly i am not gonna waste any more time trying to explain my position on what has been said about Ghosts post suffice to say that yes i am entitled to my opinion and once again the voices of the forum addicts are heard again and the voice of the people like myself that rarely feel the need to voice an opinion on anything are shunned and made to feel like they should not be posting here in the first place as there opinion is not valid and quiet wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ah, the old "forumites are all ganging up on me" wail. No, us people that post regularly aren't some monolithic block that compare notes via IM on which new arrival we're going to pick on next. We're as likely to disagree with each other as anyone else.

Perhaps you could at least entertain the idea that if you post something and everyone else says it doesn't make sense, perhaps that's because it doesn't make sense. Not because there's some secret forumite conspiracy, or we're all thick.

    [ QUOTE ]
Just because i dont have a 1000 posts to my name does not mean that my thoughts and opinions do not count they are just rarely heard. And this thread has become the epitomy of why, there is far too much having to justify opinions remarks and comments to people that just like to hear the sound of there own voice and will make an argument even when they both agree on the same subject.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Except that there isn't agreement, which makes argument a bit less gratuitous. Your views "count" just as much as everyone else's, which is to say "not for a lot"; GR may note some of them, and provide summaries back to NCNC if the noise is loud enough - NCNC staff may even notice them themselves - but that aside we're just people saying what we think on an internet forum. On any significant scale of things, that doesn't weigh very heavily.

As far as "having" to justify opinions, you don't. If you say something, and another poster (or posters) disagree with it, no one's forcing you to make a followup. If you thought the original argument was strong enough, and explained your position fully, it should be able to stand on its own merits.

On the other hand, if you feel you need to clarify something, or your original views were misinterpreted, you have the option of replying. There's still no one forcing you to, though.

Once the avalanche has started, it is to late for the pebbles to vote.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What's that from?

    [/ QUOTE ]
  21. That makes sense to me. It'd also provide extra motivation for running Flashback arcs; as well as transient inf and prest you get the lasting benefit of extra pickup points for insps.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
New posters posting a new thread and stirring up some interest? How dare they! Such impudence! Put them in their place, old timers!

Suggest they put their posts in the right place, sure.

  23. [ QUOTE ]
Ok, I may be adding 2 and 2 to get 5, but do you think this will mean anything for CoH?

    http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=213753

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not in itself; sure, they could add something like that to CoX too, but I don't think putting it in another game in the NCSoft stable makes it more or less likely that we'll get it.
  24. Yes, there is an element of that, I admit. Even so, adding a "post your suggestions here" thread to the Suggestions forum itself is probably a bit redundant.
