be glad they did, did you forgot how annoying it is to die and then have a DC because the loading screen doesn't load?

    [/ QUOTE ]
No, that's why I said "for better or worse (better, IMHO)".
  2. ...but no shops, while the shards are Hazards too and they have shops but no trainer.

I'm not sure there were ever any hard and fast rules on this, and for better or worse (better, IMHO) recent changes have been adding facilities to cut down on gratuitous travel requirements.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not suggesting a changing of the system.
Nor am a dictating the conclusion people should draw.
For me once I touch the 100% mark my recharge enhabcment point seems to be better spent on another power that hasn't broken that barrier that is all. This doesn't AFAIK apply to any other enhancement type.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If it's the "real" game that's the issue then once you're at the 100% point with a schedule A enhancement - recharge, damage, end mod, heal and others - you're better off if you stop slotting that attribute in any event; ED kicks in big time then and you're getting very little benefit for any more of the same type you add.

Even so, ED aside rechanges aren't better then damages; both give you almost exactly the same dps benefit in the absence of ED - that's what the numbers show, not a matter of opinion.

The "almost exactly" comes in because if you're slotting for recharge you'll have the unchanged activation time affecting things, and giving you a slightly lower dps than if you'd slotted damage. On the other hand, more frequent smaller damage attacks will let you finish off several separate mobs on the last sliver of HP more quickly. Swings and roundabouts.

But, when all's said and done you might prefer less frequent high damage attacks to more frequent lower damage ones, and of course in that case slot for damage first.

Edit: And it depends on which power too - nukes are more fun if slotted for damage than recharge!

Why would you type cmd at the command prompt when you are already at the command prompt ?

    I think you mean at Start-Run ?

Erm, yes, you're quite right; correct text, wrong location in my post. My brain's clearly in Bank Holiday mode....

You can try flushing your DNS. If you don't know how:

    start>run>type in smd, hit enter.

at command prompt type: ipconfig /flushdns

I think you've missed my point entirely and by majority rule i wasn't clear enough about what my point was but hey, you lot have made it pretty clear i'd be wasting my time anyway

It has confirmed my speculations however, about the game itself having nothing to do with why PvP is so unpopular, at least among the forum population.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You're making the same mistake again; we're not disagreeing with you because we[1] didn't read your post properly or don't understand it. We're disagreeing because we don't want anything like that implemented.

wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwYes both are correct just diffrent ways to describe the same equation.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Exactly - and in that case it's not a waste of resources to use slots reducing recharge. You can, for example, fill 3 slots with damage enhs and double the amount of damage inflicted by a single attack[1] or fill it with 3 recharge enhs, halve the recharge time and do the standard amount of damage twice over the original period. With either slotting, you double the damage done over the original period.

[1] Assuming white SOs, no ED, yada yada

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok same maths again but presented in a diffrent way
Assuming a 200 sec recharge power
    Every % below 100 = 1 sec bonus
    Every % above 100 below 200 = approx 1/3 of a second bonus
    Every % above 200 below 300 = approx 1/5 of a second bonus

    [/ QUOTE ]
True, although it looks like we're agreed on the numbers (however they're presented) anyway; the question is what they mean, and whether slotting Recharge enhs is less useful than other types.

I'd say they are, as figures already given show that an extra +100% in recharge gives the same benefit over the original attack period as an extra +100% in damage.

From your "every % above/below" example you may (I'm not sure of this) be suggesting the "second bonus" figure should stay the same at all times, so you always get 1 second bonus whenever you slot extra recharge in. If you do that, though, slotting up to +200% recharge reduction would get the recharge time down to zero - well unbalanced compared to anything else you might slot. Slotting beyond +200% would give negative recharge times, and presumably you'd need a psychic version of the program to implement that, so it could start the recharge before you'd activated the power.

Funnily enough I haven't but personally I would consider it a bit a of a waste of resources especially considering the way recharges 'real time' effect scale negativly the more you have.

    [/ QUOTE ]
But the number of times you can cast a power in a given time does scale linearly (aside from ED), just like damage.

How many PvE players would'nt be tempted to join in and maybe even tag along for a counter attack in that situation!?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Me forth. This seems to be something some people have trouble accepting, but a lot of PvEers don't PvP because they don't realise how fun it is, or the rewards aren't sufficient. A lot of us just don't want to PvP.

Not really looked at the build but a further comment on this disscusion for me would be myself I'm scared of yellow and red numbers in mids cos once you see them any 'true' percentage point is better spent elsewhere cos if you use it on that power it will be reduced.

You've clearly never tried to 'perma' any powers then

And Alphane, it does look like we have different ideas of how dramatic we should be in our phrasing - c'est la vie, as they say in 90s sitcoms.

But...as far as accusing people of abuse goes, do you know the story of the boy that "cried wolf"? And giving and taking abuse in equal measure might be fine in some situations; here it just gets the thread locked as soon as it catches GhostRaptor's beady eye.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Some special set IOs (only ever one of a set, I think) have effects which span the whole level range, and low level versions are as effective as higher level ones. These are things like Aegis: Status Protection, or procs, for example.
Because of their effectiveness, they are equally expensive across the whole level range.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Which in itself is a little wrong; if anything the lower level ones should be worth more, as they give exactly the same bonus as the high level ones and are more likely to be usable if you exemp down.

Agreed; if nothing else at least their constant fiddling means they're still paying attention.

Compared to earlier stuff (toggles turning into clickies, entire armour and control sets being quartered in effectiveness and significantly changed in emphasis) the current "added 0.3s to animation time"-type mods are all pretty small beer.

    [ QUOTE ]
TO ATTRACT NONPVPERS INTO PVP ZONES YOU NEED TO APPEAL TO THEM. NOT TO PEOPLE ALLREADY PVPING.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This isn't as good an idea as you may think. We already have rewards in PvP zones, and this only creates ill will between PvPers and PvEers.
"We want Shivans so we can do a hard TF!"
"Lol, it's a PvP zone so I can fight you if I like"
"But there's no other way to get Shivans!"
    and so forth.

If there were PvP rewards, they need to be for PVP, not for PvEing in PvP zones, and they need to have a negligble effect on PvE. (Like the Guildwars lion emote)

    [/ QUOTE ]
That I'd agree with; adding tempting goodies to PvP zones that the PvEers can pick up and take away will just lead to them dashing in after the rewards and actively avoiding PvP while they're there.

You know, I really don't think that word means what you think it means.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well Stand good to see your still gunning for me. Perhaps it means implying someone else doesn't have a basic grasp of English or perhaps it means wishing painful medical conditions on people, personally I consider both somewhat abusive.

And Sir helm I will have to defer to your obviously greater experience of the subject and be glad I don't have to pay your opticians bills.

So I came here looking for a discusion but if you care for a flamefest I'll happily supply you with my Email and you can vent your spleens to your hearts content. But frankly I'll probably just giggle and shrug there too.

    [/ QUOTE ]
For your info, "I don't think that word means what you think it means" is a quote from that cracking film The Princess Bride; I made it because you seem to use the word "abuse" to cover pretty much anything from not taking a post seriously to pointing out a post's off topic. It's actually a much, much stronger word than that, and not one to casually throw in whenever there's any sort of disagreement.

On the other hand you seem to think that my pointing out you're using an inappropriate word means I'm "still gunning for [you]", presumably part of my plan to "vent [my] spleens", so using hyperbole may be a bit of a habit for you.

Whether you believe it or not I'm not pursuing some evil campaign against you here; life's too short, and as a general rule I reply to posts rather than the poster.

Edit: Tidied up my grammar, in an unabusive sort of way.

For IOs that boost two aspects, each aspect gets 5/8ths the normal bonus. Though each individual aspect gets less boost than a one-aspect IO would give, the total combined bonus is one-and-a-quarter times as large. Similarly, three-aspect IOs boost each aspect by half the normal amount, for an aggregate total of one-and-a-half times. Four-aspect IOs boost each aspect by 0.4375 times the normal amount, for an aggregate total one-and-three-quarters times as large.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    U lost me :S

    [/ QUOTE ]
    OK, some examples...

Let's say a common damage IO at some level gives you a 30% bonus.

In that case a set IO that gives accuracy and damage increases would give an 18.75% (= 5/8ths of 30%) bonus to both aspects. Slot two set IOs like this (from different sets, of course, as you can't slot identical enhs from the same set) and each aspect gets 2 x 18.75% = 37.5%. That's more from two slots than you'd get from a single dam and a single acc IO of the same level.

Similarly, a 3 aspect IO (acc, dam, rech, say) of that level gives 15% (half of the "common IO" 30%) to each aspect. Slot 3 of these from different sets, and 3 slots are giving you 3 x 15% = 45% bonus for each aspect.

Finally, your 4 aspect IO (acc, dam, rech, endred) gives 13.125% (= 30% * 0.4375) bonus to each aspect. Slot 4 of these, and it's 3 x 13.125% = 52.5% boost to each of the 4 aspects - that's not bad for 4 slots!

Does that make marginally more sense?
