    Multi Builds

A technically easy solution to this would be to halve the cost of all purchased enhancements and crafting rates, and double the recipe and invention salvage drop rates.

The base/invention salvage merge may amount to the last item on that list in any event.

Not to say they'll do this, or anything like it, mind.

Not from the way I'd be using it.

From the recent interviews, it looks like you go to a trainer to actiavte (and also swap between) multi-builds. When you do (presumably for the first time), you enter a respec process, which lets you create your second build.

What definately isn't going to happen is that they copy your enhancements. As Standoff says, you'd end up with empty enhancement slots in the alternative build. If anyone can't figure out why that is, they really aren't trying.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thinking about it, my guess is that when you activate the dual-builds thing for the first time you should be able to "respec" both builds. Would make much more sense.

The fact of having to get all the enhancements TWICE would be, IMHO, a very bad decision. It would encourage twice the farming. I think it would be better if they implement some way in which the enhancements are transfered to the second build and only those that are not used in none of the two builds are allowed to be sold (otherwise people would use the second build to duplicate expensive enhancements, of course).

The thought of having to buy like ten extra anti-knockback IOs for my fire tanker and all my squishies, several stealth IOs, lots of Crushing Impact full sets... argh, no please!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Of course, you only "need" to do all that extra farming if:

    1) You want to use the second build in the first place, and

    2) You want to use uber stuff in that second build

Also, with the new TF/recipe token system coming in I13 it should need a lot less farming to get a specific rare recipe.

    Affordability

    [ QUOTE ]
    City of Farming, what else?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The options in any game are:

    1) "Stuff" cheap and common; everyone gets fully kitted out with uber kit without even having to try very hard.

    2) "Stuff" rare and needs effort to get; player not to fussed about uber kit, and makes do with drops/cheaper stuff

    3) "Stuff" rare and needs effort to get; player fussed about uber kit, and needs to do specific stuff (farming) for getting it

As the game itself doesn't fall into (1), what other options than (3) are there if you want uber kit?

    No. A construction worker

Now we just need a cop, an army guy, cowboy and a few others...

It might be usefull if you do alot of lower TF's, where your powerpick doesnt match the lvl. (my perma granite is rather squishy pre-32).

But how will the IO's be stored? I can think up 2 builds that have alot overlapping IO's, but also alot unique IO's for that build.

    [/ QUOTE ]
My own guess is that the two builds will need slotting separately (i.e. you need to pay for two builds' worth of IOs). Equally guessed, I think when I13 goes live existing toons' second builds will appear as a carbon copy of the first as far as powers and slots go, but be empty of enhs.

Only time (or a redname post) will tell whether I'm right, though...
  7. Probably a perception thing - the AT itself's equally useful both sides of the Atlantic, of course, but there are more people that feel the need for pretty green numbers US side.
  8. If you haven't even begun to change anyone's mind after 3 days, the odds are you're not going to.

    VEAT PPPs

I'm not sure it hugely matters. FWIW I suspect all ATs have their own entries in the PPP table, pointing to the specific powers that AT's allowed to choose, as part of the system's basic design.

Quite possibly the entries in the VEAT's section of the table point to exactly the same powers as the Brute's one.

Even if they do, though, if they ever decided they wanted to change the Brute powers and keep the VEAT ones as is it would probably be relatively easy for the devs to clone the current Brute powers and make the VEAT table point to those clones, then edit the ones the Brutes use.

Probably the only way you could tell how things work at the moment (short of a red name post) is if one of the Brute powers gets buggy (wrong animation, too much damage, wrong enh slottables, etc...) - if the VEAT version gets the exact same bug at the same time, yes, they're using the same power.
  10. Something like:

    /bind g "say ConGz$$e cheer"

    should do the job.
  11. Not sure I'd go for it myself, but seems like a reasonable idea.

As a side issue, if this did go in it'd make an even stronger case for there being a "costume slot to show in toon selection screen" setting. (More costumes = less chance of the first one being the one you want to use)
  12. Nooooooo!!! He's messing with our heads again!

That's being... sensible though, and logical, Ravenswing. And we all know that isn't allowed on the internet.

With a cameo by Nemesis Rex? Mmm steampunk dinosaurs...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I fully endorse any steampunk dinosaurs ingame.

Better than bloody Romans. I think they're getting their ideas from old episodes of Star Trek at the moment, so next up its either Nazi Germany, a planet of wobbly rocks with blobby energy things or some green alien chicks who try to cop off with you.

    I vote for the latter.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I look forward to the new "wobbly toupee" and "corset" costume pieces. Jay FTW!
  16. Yes, superheroes and cliches are concepts that should never meet.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Or, to give an actually valid answer: no, the way the temporal mechanics works in this game, if you went back to when Dinosaurs were, you'd never be able to get back to now.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    This assumes:

    1) The in character explanation of temporal mechanics is entirely truthful

    2) There are no alternative mechanisms available.

    3) Dinosaurs can't be brought forward in time to meet us in the more recent past (or present, or future!).

    4) Cloned dinosaurs won't ever appear.
  18. Hugely /unsigned - if the devs were to make wholesale changes to popular power groups every time someone said they didn't like the way a few things looked, they'd never get anything else done.

And some of the requested alternarives are rather majorly unbalanced - take this power (my emphasis):

    [ QUOTE ]

-dragon fire heard(replace greater fire sword)
for a limited amount of time, your powers are instant recharged and you do 3x more damage.
when this is over, you have no endurance and lose 20% of your health.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    ...then go with the Nuke...pop a blue...Nuke...pop a blue...Nuke cycle for a while.

And given that you're doing 3x damage you'd probably only need one nuke to clear a spawn - Fire/Kins, eat your heart out.

Edit: Ah - Tanks/Brutes only, not Blasters' fire secondary which I'd mistakenly assumed. OK, ignore my comments about the nuke. IMHO still a very bad idea generally, though.

    Rikti Invasion!

    [ QUOTE ]
As to the time span for something like this... I'd say that a whole day sounded about right.

    Game day that is.

i.e. about 25 minutes iirc - if the rikti got a serious foothold in a zone for longer than a (in-game) day then I'd see the city/RI falling... I'd expect PCs/NPCs to have repelled them within the day unless it was a prelude to a big and pretty-persistent world change (e.g. the devs decided to have the rikti winning for an issue...)

And I would never suggest this being an all-zones at once event, as (again) that would seem to suggest that the war is lost...

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's broadly in line with the way raids work now (they're much more frequent on "raid weekends", but each individual raid is still limited in area and duration).

The OP did want something rather more than that though (my highlighting):

    [ QUOTE ]
well theres already normal, quite shore rikti invasions, but how about one big, ultra, super, mega invasion:
the war walls go down in everyzone, heroes wait in tension, a squad of dropships fly in attacking buildings (if possible destroying them slightly), droping bombs, then rikti ground troops arive attack any hero in sight, creating mass chaos, while also damaging paths, roads, statues, cityhall and altas that last until the end of the invasion (lasting: 30mins, 1hour or all day )

    [/ QUOTE ]

    5 Bonus Cap?

From this page on ParagonWiki it looks like Purple sets' bonuses should work at all levels.

Comparing this to what's on the other page it looks like this is a special case, and for non-Purples bonuses do vanish when they're slotted in an unavailable power.

    Nothing really new announced there.

Wonder if / when anything new for i13 will be announced? Turning out to be a long and rather boring wait so far after being promised so much awesomeness by the new expanded Dev team, I'm starting to wonder did they expand too fast and are now being slowed by trying to integrate the new people in?

    [/ QUOTE ]

they will tell us more in time, they did first say tht, so what has been relased alrdy is only a little bit/half of i13 and more is to be told soon. alot ppl think what they have told us is everything, when its not

And yes it could affect hunts (including TF/SF ones) - but what the heck do you expect in a world where metahumans, criminal robots and alien invasions are common??? The way invasions clean up at present is a bit too simple, clean and easy.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That'd be fine in an actual world, but in a game where a team of friends might be running prearranged TFs on the only night they can all make it before next month, having everything come to a grinding halt because of a server-wide event wouldn't be popular.

Keeping the players coming back's essential for a subscription game like CoH, and I'm sure imposing a sudden change in play options for the next 24+ hours wouldn't go down well with a lot of people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That wouldnt be a problem if such an event was announced in advance.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It might be less of a problem if it was announced in advance. It'd stop surprised disappointment on the night, but still wouldn't help with the fact that the (hypothetical) one and only available night for a month couldn't be used for the TF run.

    [ QUOTE ]
Just like the Halloween thing. I bet you and your friends first enjoy the halloween event before going into a TF.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Emphasis on the "before" - details unannounced, but hopefully with the Halloween event there's the option of a bit of zombie slaying fun before you go on to do what you were planning to do originally.

With a server-wide Rikti invasion that's not the way it'd work - with no huntable mobs in play the TF ain't happening.
