    i13 release date

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
It will be released on Thursday 27th November - the servers will come back up at 15:37 GMT precisely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I will give you a tenner if that turns out to be true. Or, one quid if it's the right day.

    [/ QUOTE ]
If you do I'll double it and pass it on to a charity; I'd say the chances of an Issue going out on a Thursday are slim to zero.
  2. It doesn't have any specific idiomatic meaning in UK English, but does fit into the general and rather vague category of "old, formal phrasing".

It's the sort of thing you'd find in an old bible, or 1800s book, where the author wanted to sound impressive. For examples, "In ancient times, when legends walked the earth".

Good luck to Lighthouse but let's not burn anyone as a witch just yet k?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not even War Witch? I mean, the name's a bit of a give away...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Isn't she already a ghost?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Good point, but not necessarily a problem. We can burn her, knowing we've definitely got a proper witch, and do her no harm besides.

    [ QUOTE ]
Well except the alternate dimension one in Pocket D of course....

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Fallback option.

  6. Too much cake in the way, huh?
  7. Cake-in-a-bush Day! Happy Birthday BB!

That's fair enough, and of course it does work both ways. Announcing loudly that there have been (I paraphrase, but only slightly) "hundreds of hate posts after a few seconds" will tend to raise the temperature a bit...

    [ QUOTE ]
There seems to be an inevitabilty that simple questions or attempts at discussion are doomed to petty bickering and flaming (and here I am, wading in...sigh).

I'm not singling anyone out, I don't want to flame - or be flamed, come to that - I hope it calms down when i13 hits; despite GR's seemingly massive patience (I can't quite believe he wades through editing threads as much as he does, rather than just deleting stuff as used to happen - the effort is appreciated, at least by me) there seems to be a lot of ill feeling sloshing around the boards recently.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I couldn't argue with that (well, I could, but that would get me into a "This statement is false" sort of paradox, so best not), although I wouldn't have said simple questions were being picked out as particular targets for flames.

There's this rather flammable-looking thread, for instance (probably coincidentally by the same OP as this one) that against all the odds steadfastly refused to catch.

There does seem to be a general irritability though; part of it may be down to the usual pre-Issue tension, which leads the usual "come on, release it now"/"servers are too quiet, merge them all"/"changes in test are rubbish" noise.

This time round the larger part of the changes are being made to PvP too, and there's a topic that tends to lead to heated threads at the best of times.

All we can do is drink less caffeine, hope I13's out soon, and hope GR's blood pressure doesn't get too out of control.

Well said; the forums do seem to be suffering from an excess of bile at the moment.

    Nice going guys.

    [/ QUOTE ]
TBH I'd have to disagree on this one; despite Sindrone talking about "hundreds of hate replys" after "a few seconds", what actually happened was he made a not-well phrased question/demand without smileys, on a Friday afternoon, then went away until Monday morning.

At which time he found 2 or 3 "demands aren't nice" posts, and several pages of irreverent comments, most of which weren't directed at him.

Doesn't seem like such a harsh treatment to me.

jeeeesus i leave my thread for two and a half days and two or three "demand, eh?" replys come rolling in

    Edited to remove hyperbole.

    Edit: Fixed Edit.

he also spent way too much time on focusing on non-IO builds

    [/ QUOTE ]

And? IOs are OPTIONAL. If he focused on IO builds it would encourage more farming for inf and drops. Which as far as I can tell isn't what the Davs want.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps take discussions on PvP changes Lighthouse wasn't the source of to PM, or an I13-specific thread?

    Edit: Fixed typo

    [ QUOTE ]
ANY, tell about powerlevelling, filling or farming will be Ignored.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find this in particular insulting and annoys me... its a similar situation when I look at /search..

I see search comments that say "I WILL NOT FILL / FARM / PL so DO NOT ASK"

To be honest people with hostile search comments like this would encourage me to send them tells saying "fill plox" ~ lol

People forget this is a Mmorpg, if you don'y want to be contacted... go play your playstation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at here?
Are you saying that it's okay to ask for this? To annoy them because for 2 seconds it amuses you?

The search comments are there for a good reason - If I don;t wan people to ask me to fill, powerlevel or farm then I'm not being hostile.

    [/ QUOTE ]
i can see what he means, i would do the same only to let him/her know there is something called a "do not search team" option.

if ppl like to power lvl just for the epics, they have all full rights for doing just that.
heck, if i know how, i might do the same just to get the villain epics.

    [/ QUOTE ]
People might want to team, but not fill/farm/PL - in that case setting the "do not search team" option wouldn't do what they want.

People do have the right to PL, but that's a completely separate issue to sending tells whose sole purpose is to annoy people that don't want to.

When its ready, and not before.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, past history suggests it may just be a leeettle bit before.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
i think everybody has kinda missed the point just a tiny we bit in here this isnt a lets all jump on castles head thread its suposed to be a farewell thread for lighthouse

and no matter if you like or disslike the changes being made to the game or not derailing a threads within the forums to badmouth somebody on the suport or dev team can only end badly

so on that note shame to see you go lighthouse good luck where ever you end up

    [/ QUOTE ]
    /seconded re. derailing

All the best, Lighthouse - as a frequent lurker on the US forums I was always impressed by the way you kept the mad, noisy Yanks under discreet yet effective control.

Wishing you all the best for the future.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

    But.

Why cant every level have access to every PvP zone?

Why cant, when I'm 50 and I go to sirens (for example) I get a choice of levels- 1-10 11-20 etc and I enter that instance of the zone?

If every player could access every zone (their levels equivelent) players would end up gravitating to a particular zone . maybe two. The devs could see which zones really are popular ansd work on them to make them even better.

Now, I think that may solve at least one problem with PvP.
    What you think?

    [/ QUOTE ]
The immediate problem I can see (for the EU, at least) is that with a split level system like that it'd be all too easy to spread the players too thinly.

I gather some (most?) PvP zones have trouble getting decent populations together as it is; reduce populations by a factor of 3-5 by letting people split off into level-based instances, and it'd be even harder.

Of course, if the I13 changes can get the numbers up to offset that split, that'd be a different matter.

Personally I think there should be a chorus of naked Carnies dancing past holding a banner saying "Congratulations on your new 50" when you ding, but thats just me

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Eh, what what??

The restraining order won't let me do that any more

    [/ QUOTE ]
I hear there's still stuff up on YouTube though. Find it quick, before the censors get wind.

This thread will no doubt soon be hijacked by the usual people claiming the servers are dead and need to be merged.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yup (points up 2 posts ^^^^)

Given that there are already a few threads pursuing that evergreen topic, don't know how long this one will last.
  20. All looking like it should for me. Not sure this would be a factor, but have you checked your PC's date's right?
  21. Welcome back!

To pedantically go into the numbers a bit further, the US has two very highly populated servers; the rest of their (many) servers have roughly the same population as our busier server, Union.

On all EU (and possibly US too) servers, Hero-side's busier than Villain-side.

    Server Merges?

    [ QUOTE ]
Why do people keep asking? There must be a reason, so ask yourself why.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Be careful what you ask for; people had kept asking for PvP to get a bit of attention too.

    Server Merges?

Check back through General Discussion - this idea's been very extensively discussed recently (and for many years before then).
  24. I'd like to see some good stuff too, and I'd also like to see them sort out their communications about Issue content too. While I don't agree with the various "tell us exactly what's coming, when" schemes some people have suggested, at the moment they seem to be going out of their way to undermine their own image.

In the past few weeks we've had the following:

    * APP/EPP power switches announced with open beta, causing significant furore before they backtracked (and it seems quite possible that they'd actually decided to backtrack while still in closed beta).

    * Significant base enhancements implied for I13, then almost nothing actually appearing.

    * The one significant base feature that was included was an item cost reduction, which they then shorted on by declining an auto-refund for existing bases.

    * The ambiguous and contentious "Mission Architect is a strong enough feature that it can, and should, stand on it's own for an issue" statement this whole thread's blown up from.

However good the content turns out to be when it does arrive, they're doing themselves no favours in the run up.
