A persons 'own brand of fun' isnt necessarily what the PVP zone is there for. I dont expect people to march to my own personal code of conduct, but I expect some [censored] basic respect, the same kind you show a stranger when you pass them in the street.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that sums up things up perfectly well and echoes my own feelings on the subject.
Archelon (QiSnake) will be the first to admit he can be prickly but was one of the good ones, following our initial meeting that was less than fun we had a load of fun times in Sirens and its sad that he doesnt frequent the zone anymore. I myself have only just started going back in the pvp zones as all the crap over broadcast was realy started to grate on my nerves, we all get annoyed at one point or another. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well if you want the debt taken away then you have to take all of the XP.
[/ QUOTE ]
Im ok with that, who the hell farms the hotspots for xp lol -
you seem to be operating under some form of misaprehension, if it is of my opinion that someone needs to be taught a lesson in manners this is my right to do it so long as I am not breaching the EULA, a judgement is just an opinion and there is no real difference, its just semantics and your own "opinion" on what a "judgement" is. To petition someone you must have "judged" someone to have done something that is worthy of petitioning, you are contradicting yourself really, dont judge but do petition.
if people act like jerks in the zone then they will be treated as jerks. Only thing I have a problem with is abuse and profanity over the broadcast which I think is out of order and is clearly against the EULA, I dont think many could argue over the definition of vulgarity. Who defines it? NCSoft and I have seen some offenders attitudes change in the last few weeks so I am actually beleiving that they may be doing something with petitions. -

Stalkers aren't so hard to find. 2 CMs do the trick. theres a few other things i've noticed in my (short) time in PvP zones that i'm sure others have noticed. I want to bring my fire tanker in and see if any stalker manages to AS me when i've got Blazing Aura on (which is 99% of the time.). Could play nasty tricks on stalkers too......heh, you'd think i was a villain with all the nasty tricks i think up at times.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am afraid that blazing aura is seemingly useless against stalkers, I have ASd numerous fire tanks and never been hit. I can also AS through mud pots, the only tank PBAOE that causes issues is chilling embrace. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have a AR/FM and I'm having a great fun with it in PvP, I can 2 or 3 shoot domis, MMs, corrs and sometimes stalkers. People need to try without devvices... AR doesnt need to be with Dev...

Devices enables you to see stalkers -

I'm surprised there hasnt been an sg created for characters built primarily for pvp to go out and splat all the wee plonkers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Paragon Defenders is probably the only PvP-based supergroup on Defiant. We're all levelling new toons at the moment though, so we haven't been in Sirens much.
Also, being in a zone with 10 stalkers and nothing else is boring.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its so annoying that I screwed up the respec on my empath, heres hoping I get a free one in I7 -
Surely if everyone is free to do what they want then judging is indeed covered
Besides which making a judgement on something is human nature and we do it on everything and anything "that looks nice", "I dont fancy eating that", "ick who buys a gold coloured car" etc etc.
In essence arent u judging the judges?
And as I pointed out there is a far reaching EULA in operation and given its ambiguity people should work even harder to stay within it, just my opinion of course
[ QUOTE ]
I was just encouraging people to play as they feel is fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
As marq said, many people just go to cause trouble and swear over broadcast which is against the official EULA -

The thing that killed any hope of pvp for me wasn't the fighting other players, it was the farming by groups of players.
I went in early on looking for a group to pvp with as I thought it would be quite fun to team up and take on some villains. All my requests for a team got me was a constant attack by groups taking me out without warning, then spammed abuse and some quite unpleasant comments when I pointed out how unfair it is for 8 players attacking one without even warning me they were there. It was made even worse by the fact that they camped outside the hospital and got me every time i poked my head out. I know there is a 30 second window of safety, but as soon as it wore off I was faceplanted again with masses of insults about how [censored] I was.
Before I get the flames about how I was in a pvp zone and should expect to be attacked, yes I know. That was the point of me being there. If it was a lone player I wouldn't have minded but being farmed by a full team was really annoying. The only result of my requests for a team was to advertise that there was an easy chicken ready for plucking.
To be honest, I don't think I would have minded if they had only done it the once and sent laughing messages to me along the lines of "welcome to sirens call, hope you enjoy your stay". I have a sense of humour and can take the bad with the good. It's the abuse I was getting that killed it for me. That, and the fact that I had to log and play a different character until I could be sure they had gone and I could get to the exit without fear.
[/ QUOTE ]
Next time u there send me a tell at my global handle and i ll change your mind about PvP zones.
Sadly the majority of villains out there appear in the zones and use /whoall to see who is there. If they see specific names they turn around and run cause they recognise regulars. If not they just make teams and start spamming the "I r teh pvp god".Not that it doesnt happen to heroes side too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same, I usually try to assist new to sirens players when I am there

Would be fun but some quick tells and maybe a /ac request normally works wonders -
Taken from the EULA
"content as determined by NC Interactive at its sole discretion that is harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable; "
Pretty ambiguous and based upon perception even so I personally think people should abide by this official "code of conduct" -

some people are jerks and some people are cool, its true in life, pve and pvp sadly

And such people tend to gravitate to games where they can exploit others and show their 'superiority'. Adding PvP zones to CoX opened the gates, so now they are coming to here as well. Well, most everything is a two-sided sword. I don't mind that much. If only they could even speak english.
I just wish they would stop designing the game in a fashion that effectively encourages this. (ie. widening the gap between good PvPers and beginners, and introducing horrible risks to losing which will just cause bitterness. (I refer to upcoming IoPs the way I perceive them))
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm I wonder how IOPs will affect pvp in real terms -
I stated in a previous thread that when someone was openly mocking someone for getting debt on broadcast in the PVP zones they would rapidly lose their popularity, I stand by that, I dont consider this a CoC, its basic manners and logic. Such behaviour is not condusive to a pleasant playing environment and I can see how such behaviour could easily breech the EULA depending on what was being said, the same can be said for gloating depending on words used. I would hope that, with the recent bug that messed up the banned chat function (which brought it to our attention that it really exists) that the foul language and trash talking over broadcast would start to wane.
Im all for "w00ts" when you tag someone but if someone was mocking someone on broadcast for debt (unless you ahve a damned good reason) They will start dying much more frequently.
And as you say, its peoples choice so I guess you are saying that people can remorselessly hunt down the same person who was making the atmosphere unpleasant over and over again and this is a valid tactic.
Everyone has their tactics and I wont team with people who do certain things like droning as its dull, annoying (long walk) and takes their bounty away from me, if they are close I can kill them, if they get droned they are no use to me. But tactics dont really bother me, more its attitude over the chat, play how you want (without greifing) but I dont think its too much to be polite, even in a roleplay environment. -
Im hoping it will ahve an end drain effect and will be a brute that doesnt really need stamina
-
[ QUOTE ]
Yes but at the same time, saying "thanks for the debt" is very much the same as accusing someone as being reckless and causing other people debt. If someone causes themselves debt, and points the finger at someone else, im not about to leave the subject untouched.
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm remember some time ago we were fighting in the sky near Talos park and my impale dropped you into a mob of Tsoo? I can vividly remember words along the line of "thanks for the debt" which were simple frustration and I knew this in the same way you know I wouldnt ever intentionally cause you debt.
I too am guilty of the "thanks for the debt" line but is usually followed by "it happens". I have also caused debt and accrued it by saving enemies but I have never laughed at anyones misfortunes, its just weak imo, Im better than that. -

a string of emotes designed to rile you by suggesting sexual inadaquicy
[/ QUOTE ]
You may wish to reconsider this particular approach to the zones as it is not a closed conflict like the arena and am moderately sure that is pretty easy to cross the terms of the EULA. Given that it has now been established that there is a function in the game that can ban you from ALL chat channels this is all the more important to bear in mind (the latest patch created a database bug and a number of people have incorrectly been banned from chat for up to 58 years)
Light hearted banter in pvp is fun and part of the game, trash talk can border on abuse depending on what is being said and pvp can do without it IMHO -
I for one dont find this scenario funny in any way, I am also not entirely sure that laughing at someones misfortune is a particularly healthy attitude to ahve on PVP (or for that matter in anything) Getting debt and indeed receiving it as a result of PVP is inevitable in the zones but I suspect the person was just a little frustrated at unwlecome debt and I can imagine a vast majority of people would respond in the same way, its akin to saying "crap" when you catch your finger in a door.
No it wasnt your fault and I am sure she didnt really blame you, shes a person like all others on the game and I feel a little compassion on your part for what is a genuine inconvieniance would ahve been more in order than crowing and laughing at someones misfortune. I can only hope that you didnt broadcast your amusement over chat as this would be a very fast way to lose popularity amongst people on both sides in the pvp zones. -
[ QUOTE ]
I personaly think if your running away to your base because your scared your gonna die you have lost already. Also its on of the mian reasons I wont be going to the pvp zones any more as when you go there its just a deadly game of tag TBH. At least in the arena people can run but they cant hide.
[/ QUOTE ]
wheres the fun in that? sounds more like a deadly game of tag than the zones, if you cant hide you cant ambush, it sounds like 2 rats in a cage to me. I think all the arena maps are too small, the zones also bring chaos and random events into play, theres nothing like finally tagging someone who has eluded you for some time.
I personally dont like the arena, it seems stifling, slow to organise and too linear for my tastes. -

Stealth, INvisibility, Superior invisibility, none of them work in PvP, it complete and utter (censored) but uv gotta put up with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
uh.... they all work in pvp -
[ QUOTE ]
Also, if stalkers annoy you with their Assasin Strike, get repulsion field. It will interrupt their AS and drop their hide as well. That's they way I use it in Siren's Call and that's the only reason I have it really. Very effective for just that purpose though
[/ QUOTE ]
It is very effective but doesnt drop all stalkers hide (mine for example) and while it can interupt my AS its not 100%. It is well worth is and running around bouncing non-EA stalkers about is very funny to watch on both sides)
As for new pvpers, I think 22 with SOs is really the minimum lvl to have a good go and 30 is best so you have a good amount of powers and slots -
[ QUOTE ]
If the only thing that truly bothers you is the way some villains behave in chat, i suggest turning off villain chat in the game options. There's no need for you to have villain broadcast chat on, unless you go to the PVP zones just to do villain broadcast chat. In fact I think it might help you to turn of villain chat completely and stay in touch with your villain helpers, completely through the global chat network.
I've read posts like this before and a lot of people seem much happier after they've turned off villain chat.
[/ QUOTE ]
I dont really consider this an option as you are restricting in game communication from your friends on the other side of the game both in the PVP and PVE zones (yeah they can use global chat but people often dont see the "player not seeing enemy" message as they just use the click not the @ function, it also still prevents interaction with your friends on the opposing side). Besides there are jerks spouting crap and profanity on both sides. -

[ QUOTE ]
Their's no shame in running. I run when outnumbered (or try to) only to a) either split up the group and maybe catch one straggling after me alone or come back to find one standing by him/her self. b) to maybe give a team mate time to do some dmg if some are following me.
I dont see the need to run to base though just to hide. There are sometimes other ways around being outnumbered. Not always the case but its always worth a try
[/ QUOTE ]
Funny! I've yet to see you to even try to run away with the corruptor. Kamikaze squishie
[/ QUOTE ]
yeah I agree, never seen u run yet (may ahve something to do with some grav powers though.....) -

1 Question here:
Why do most of you put 2 or more ACCs in the attacks?
I have a NRG/Invul Brute at 40 with 1 ACC in each Attack (and 3 DMG 1 END 1 REC)
Well, yes, I do miss every now and then on +0/+1/+2 enemies and have relatively big accurarcy problems with higher mobs (nontheless I'm still able to kill +3s conveniently)
Now NRG isn't the topic but SS:
SS got Rage from 18: +80% DMG, +50% ACC (if my builder's numbers are right)
So the ACC boost from Rage is already about 1.5 SOs of ACC. If I was SS (never had one) I would not put any ACC in my attacks.
Well, I like playing on Villainous though. If you like the highest difficulty, I think 1 ACC would be appropriate in each attack.
Help me come to clarity why people put so many ACC in SS powers!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
you will still miss more than you would want to with 2 acc SOs (1 miss is too many on your main attack) and a lot of people do it for pvp reasons too as the base acc lvl is dropped from 75% to 50%
-
Its human nature and not nessesarily a truely conscious decision, after all if we were logical about it we would die in battle, get our health and stamina back and not pick up debt from the npcs doing our escape artist routine.
As for going to base, I often call teammates back to base to regroup for a big push -
