also who cares what http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...age=0&vc=1 says. I don't.
Just a feakin wannaberogerebert. Fail WTH does he know about fail? Yeah it's his opinion and opinions are like........well you know what they're like.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OMG he fail it because it had a defeat all? that is funny it is not a big map like in outdoor map and you can get done with it in no time. Wow some people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, Interface's reviews are meant to be caustic. He starts them off at "it's worthless", then works his way down.

Don't worry about this one. I rather liked the approach he has. It's different.

I had to look up "pendejos". Thanks for the giggle Boricua.
  2. Ouch!

Stale... if it does happen PLEASE have it reviewed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know I said in the above I would, but I'll have to think some more about that.

Do I want to serve as a test subject for whoever placed the complaints to assuage their curiosity at my expense, instead of using other means?

Or do I want to keep enjoying CoH and avoid further drama?

    We'll have to see.
  4. There is a strong risk that my arc A Voyage Fantastic may get blocked soon.

I'm seriously considering not fighting to get it reviewed / released if it happens. I play this game to unwind from Real Life™ drama. I don't need to get another influx of it from CoH.

Enjoy it while you can folks.

PS - I'm posting this here because about half the players who sent me feedback on it are from Protector. Thanks for the kind words guys.
  5. To be transparent, here's what I found waiting when I checked this arc this morning. This wasn't there last time I checked, so both complaints were lodged in the last days and may be from the same player (similar writing style), perhaps hoping to get it blocked faster.

http://yfrog.com/18vfcomplaintsp (ignore the first complaint as it is irrelevant, and could be easily petitioned off since completely out of my control).

My reply to Complaint #2: "Fantastic Voyage" was a movie first, then a book was written based on the movie by Isaac Asimov. I believe the movie's copyright may have ended in 1994, but I'm not a copyright lawyer.

According to Wikipedia the film's concept has been used in over 40 animated cartoons, to cite only these. I think this could easily back up the idea that it has now become popular lore, not just a premise owned by a single movie.

Referrencing popular comic / film lore is something the devs themselves have done a few times in their own arcs. They do it as a sign of respect to what I would call the geek classics. My intention was the same.

"Thinly veiling (it) in CoH clothes*" is the only way to do this using the Mission Architect system, so I'm unsure how to respond to that part.

My reply to Complain #3: There is nothing "thinly disguised*" here. In fact, when it started being discussed here I followed through and never once claimed it was "original". The arc description has always stated its source of inspiration.

It appears discussing that issue openly here was not enough for some, and they preferred to place anonymous complaints instead. That's entirely their prerogative. I'm replying here since I have no way of knowing who complained about the arc, and wanted to express my respectful disagreement.

The arc is not blocked yet.

If / When it does get blocked I will submit it for review and then we'll be set as for an official answer, won't we?

    * These quoted phrases cited here specifically for their similarity.
  6. This seems like just another funny post, but with a hint of serious... gonna have to go check out his FB page for details now.
  7. I've already played all your arcs, but if you'd like me to do so again in exchange foir your review I'll gladly do so again. "Blappy" was my fav out of the lot, by a hair, only because the story was so weird.

    Title: A Voyage Fantastic
    Arc ID: 81829
    Creator’s Global Name: @Stalemate
    Mission Count: 2
Notes: This arc has been revised a few times now to adapt to map errors, critter behavior, etc. It's still lacking the added immersion of renamed mobs (since it uses existing ingame mobs) but that shouldn't be too immersion breaking. It sits at just under 20% resource usage. While the last mission can be soloed successfully with some ATs, failure is taken into account as a likely game ending and end dialogues reflect that.

  15. I miss the good ol' days when there were no door missions...

    J/K.

Like anything else new and shiny in CoH land, there is always a phase where it garners most of the attention before a balance is restored. Personally, I like that.

Of course when.... OMG!!!! The Name That Must Not Be Spoken has been mentioned!!1

    Disruptor Badge

I think there are only 2 viable options really:

    1. Respec into a PvP build until you get the badge, PvPing almost exclusively until you get it. Use the PvPEC events to get familier with builds, strategies, etc. Seek the advice of those more experienced in that field whenever you can.

    2. Farm it. There are multiple ways to do this, but the fastest (I think) is having players with multiple toons allow themselves to be defeated by your badge-hunter. They bring wakies and/or head back to the zone hospital, log into another character, repeat until original "victim" toon can be brought back out again after the 10 min. timer has expired.

With option 2, if you have 2 accounts, you can probably set that up to defeat your own toons and that would also work, just not as quickly.

Also with option 2, don't forget to reciprocate. If players are willing to help you get to your goal, it's only respectful to allow them the same curtesy if they so want. As an example, when I ran this on Protector there was a list of people (first come, first served) which we would cycle through. Every time a player would get the badge in question, he"she would get replaced by another player and adopt the role of "victim" from then on.

Of course, option 1 had the added advantage of opening up more gameplay opportunities as well.

    Good luck.
  17. Republished: I've tried to add some more challenge in the last mission, as this seemed to be a recurring request.

    Some kind words from players:

@Zubenelgenubi: "wow... it's gross and hilarious at the same time. Well... err... done..." - "really excellent choices for maps and enemy critters." - "AWESOME arc. Kudos indeed. I even got a couple of real LOL's at the end."

@El Condor: "Very funny! I did love the homage. You found the perfect maps for this - the atmosphere was spot-on. Your mobs, also, were great - inventive use of already existing critter types. The doc's dialogue was a scream ; it kept me laughing." - "Great stuff!"

    @Djinniman: "Great arc. Even the
angle was handled well." - "5 well-deserved stars!"

@HeroX: "Nice maps!" - "Giving it 5 stars (Love
in it!)"

@Violet Diamond: "great arc, 5 stars!"

@Jetpack: "Space flu, heh." - "can I keep the
? It is so cute! And a defeat all that actually makes sense. The maps are perfect for both missions. Tough ambush - very fun! Really this is a well done arc - I will play again and happy to rate as 5 stars."

@FlameWrath: "the "defeat all" made sense with the story and the mission maps look great with the setting of the story. I didn't get the allusion (in other words, I hadn't read/seen A Voyage Fantastic) but it was still very good!"

@bamawolfie: "You put together Voyage perfectly!!! The maps, the mobs, everything rocked. 5 Stars for sure (even though I died 4 times tryign to beat
- then finally had to get hulkers to bring his 50 tank and help me). This is a PERFECT mission arc!!!"

    Game of DOOM

I'm almost 100% sure the lag is caused by your system.

I have no lag on either of my game PCs, the lower end one being a P4 HT with a nVidia 7600 GT 256Mb card.

On that PC I've set the effect limiters in option to inhibit other players' eye candy from being overly reflected in my own window, and tweaked the video card settings according to one of the fine graphics guides available here on the CoH Boards.

Also, running anything else at the same time CoH is active will definitely affect your gameplay experience on some machines.

Have as much RAM as your system or OS can handle. Cheapest upgrade you can do which can affect gameplay.

Make sure P2P, streaming (video, radio, music lists) are off. Optimize your OS by turning off unneeded services (Google up a guide for your OS - be careful to read everything if unfamiliar with this) and limit applications being loaded at boot time which are used infrequently (Quicktime, Adobe Speed Launcher, etc.).

Seriously... I still have CoH laoded on an AthlonXP with an ATI 9800 Pro PCI card (on lowest graphic settings), and it's not as bad as you describe it here.

If all else is up to snuff in the system you use to play, I'd take a look at the network gear. See if anyone is leeching off your connection, for example, or test the bandwidth to make sure you're getting what you're paying for.

    -----------------------------
The Badge Tour was proposed, but no one took up the offer. Cancelled.

I announced the next event in Pocket D in Atlas after mine was completed.
  20. Kya has asked that I step in and help coordinate a little, so I'll stick around for the badge / plaque tour in Atlas Park and then will pass the baton over to Sapphire Shot for the next part in Pocket D - and then the base tours can begin.

Was there a set starting place for the tours?

I'm assuming that everyone already knows there is a NPWN global channel for volunteers so we'll make use of that to communicate.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to stick it out till the end, but given the staff we have for tonight it should all go smoothly anyhow.

  24. As a kind of opening act for the NPWN this year, and as an effective method of distributing influence, I give you the NPWN Before & After Costume Contest.

    Rules are simple:
<ul type="square">[*] Have 12 months of veteran badges or less visible on your character.[*] Contest will be held under the Atlas statue, in Atlas Park, at 6:30PM eastern on June 5.[*] Present a before version of your costume, and then an after version. Effects and booster packs allowed.[*] Judgement will be based on respect of style between costumes, and overall recognizability.
Sponsors: NPWN, and myself, for a total prize package of 85 000 000 influence.
  25. Oh yeah... cold making my memory fuzzy. Cold, and fuzzy.

    Gonna go post that now.
