1. Stalemate's Shadow Shard Marathon

A continuous run of all Shadow Shards Task Forces

It sounds cruel, and more than a bit sadistic, and it truly is for those maniacs out there who want to prove they have the staying power, not just the skills, to do this. A note signed by your doctor may be required.

<ul type="square">[*]40-44 - Explorers and Exploiters, Dr. Quaterfield (24 missions)[*]44-50 - The Saga of Faathim, Faathim the Kind (33 missions, 1 AV)[*]44-50 - The Saga of Lanaru, Justin Augustine (16 missions, 5 AVs)[*]40-50 - The Legend of Ruladak, Sara Moore (15 missions, 1 AV)
A total of approximately 88 missions and 7 AVs (if Red Tomax info is current).

Whether you're in it for merits, badges, the challenge or just or have some Statesman Grade Fun™, this is a rare opportunity to have a different kind of gaming experience.

Note: Teams will have to be composed of whoever is participating at start of event.

This is scheduled for August 7, starting in the evening (8-9PM Eastern). Official rules are below. Details about prizes are to be confirmed.

CONDITIONS

<ul type="square">[*] Since 8 members are required to start the TFs, ideally 8 players will be required to be online at all times when the missions are run (barring complete and total PC failure, lack of Internet connectivity, or the End of the World). There will be no dual account usage if we can help it.[*] There will be a Referee, who will check up on team status periodically through various means. [*] Whoever has the star becomes the Acting Team Leader (ATL).[*] Teams can do TFs in any order.[*] There is no time limit on running these. Completing with the highest number of players still conscious is the objective, not speed.[*] All tactics* used while running these are deemed "valid". [*] Breaks are allowed, at team's discretion, not lasting longer than 2 hours at a stretch. Team mates will not continue running any missions until everyone is back from break. Referee will be warned by ATL when breaks are taken and what is the estimated time to restart. No penalty unless 2 hour max. is exceeded.[*] Bio breaks are not covered by this rule, and are always expected to be as quick as possible and announced in the global channel mentioned below.[*] A global channel will be created and all participants invited as means of tracking progress. If a participant receives a tell from the referee a response is expected within 5 minutes max., or else a points penalty may occur (see below).[*] If a player drops, the ATL will warn the Referee and the team will wait until that player has returned before proceeding with the following mission. The current mission may be completed with reduced numbers. [*] The ATL may decide to continue on without the missing player, with a 10 pts penalty and the team size will remain reduced for the remainder of the TFs. Be aware some TFs require a minimum number of players to be completed.[*] Upon starting and completing a TF, ATLs will give notice to the Referree for calculating points. [*] Points: 5 points per AV defeated succesfully, 10 points per TF completed. 10 points for each member still on the team at the end of the Marathon.[*] Penalties: 2 points removed for not responding to referee within 5 minutes when contacted through a tell / global channel / Teamspeak. 2 points removed for exceeding 2 hour max. time for a break. 5 points removed if team leader does not report a player drop (including disconnects) to the Referee, 5 point penalty if a player drops permanently (reported by ATL or not). There are no penalties for player defeats.[*] Whichever team has the highest number of points in the end wins the event. In case of a tie, the team that took the shortest time to complete will win. If only 1 team ends up participating, then a MVP vote will be taken at the end, with the 2 top vote earners being granted larger prizes.[*] These conditions may be changed at any time, to better accomodate the event and the players. This is not etched in stone. These are guidelines and changes will be considered if proposed.
*This refers to the use of Temp. powers, Stealthing (with all team members inside the mission), Vet rewards, Warburg warheads, Temp. pets., etc.

Note 1: The last mssion of TF 3, Defeat Lanaru the Mad, should be run in SG mode to accumulate credits for the Rikti Plasma Turret base defense item. Each player in SG mode accounts for 1 credit, 5 are required for item.

Note2: A channel on the Praesidium Teamspeak server will be made available for each team participating, to ease communications. Please make sure you have the latest Teamspeak client at the start of the Marathon

Note 3: This will NOT be easy to complete if you are using a character unsuited to defeat AVs as part of a team. Team dynamics will play an important role and.

2. *Points to first link in sig.

We've been around since May 2004, and are always looking for mature players who are laid back, yet dedicated.

Feel free to peruse the website at your leisure to find out more.

Welcome back, hero!
3. No more Pink Pompoms of DOOOOOM™ for Energy Mélée!
4. [ QUOTE ]
... Most of the player events for the past year has been spear-headed by either you or Kyo (who is PvPERC, IIRC).

Hence the offer to help.

Dibs!

I got an idea for an event brewing, which I'd like to plan for one of the following dates:

- Weekend of July 31 to Aug. 2
- Weekend of Aug. 7 - 9

This will require many hours and probably run overnight. Think "Shadow Shard Marathon*".

If you're available either of those weekends and still interested, please let me know.

*To those curious or interested in this idea I had originally submitted for the cross-server Herolympics almost 2 years ago and never saw the light of day yet, there will be another thread to discuss this further Soon™
5. Noob!

I think Rasta could be your best contact with this info, since if he's not the actual Senior Server Representative for Protector right now, he'll know who is.

He was there when I was invited in, suggested I take that SSR role even (Sooner was also involved), and he was still there when I left.

I think they're charging him rent now.
6. That may be it.

I have all the comics at home (both series) twice, up until they stopped printing and moved to PDF, so I'll look it up tonight.

I thought I'd also seen in in some sort of MMO site interview, but it's been years since that occurred, so memory is flaky.
7. If anyone recalls, there was mention in the past in regards to Hamidon enhancements that brought to light the oddness of using parts of the GM to augment superpowers. There may even have been a hint that doing so was "potentially risky".

I believe it could have been Positron, in an interview, or perhaps even Statesman. This was quite a while ago.

I'm looking for an actual source, and my usually keen Google Fu fails me today.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
8. I loved it Blue.

Perhaps not as much as the original X-Men movie, and so the magic has waned a little, but a nice roimp through Logan's past in any case.

12. I know Kult will want in on this, if she doesn't have it already by now.

I can fill in if you need me to.

15. On second thought - nvm.

I won't be available after all.

I'll try again tomorrow in the morning.
16. I just scouted Pocket D and there is no one around.

If things start picking up for this send me a tell.

My son wanted this badge on his character.
17. [ QUOTE ]
Cause a Kheld isn't part of a Pentad!

[/ QUOTE ]

Smartazz

That should have read Septad - and the badge is granted for a win in either set up, unless you're a Kheldian, as I wanted to say.

...

Hope everything's nice and confusing now.
18. That was Cassiopea, her first of many 50s now. She has more than I do.

And you're right - Stargazers was the SG, not Peacekeepers.

I even once was invited to sit around with you guys for a bit in Atlas Park on a lowbie, and freaked out when I started levelling up for no apparent reason.

Turned out to be a Kora Fruit run. ; )

Welcome back to Paragon City.

If you need anything, including a SG to park some toons, feel free to hit us up at Phantoms of War. You're already "pre-approved" so the hazing won't be as nasty.
19. [ QUOTE ]
Are there any plans in the works to get the Pentad/Septad badges?

I noticed that the hero badge seems to be easy to get, but the dark side seems to be a "bit" more difficult.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is that the one that is currently bugged on villain side?

You could try to start a Pentad with another villain (same AT) and test if that works, like I suggested in the tip in my first post. Only need 2 players to start the match then.

Unless you have a Kheldian. Then you're screwed as that is officially bugged and will not award.
20. [ QUOTE ]
This was not my result. There was NO defeating involved for us to get our badges. The only difference here is we waited for the timer to start the match before we quit the matches. Then everybody progressed as they should have...

If both people quit before the match actually started, we got strange results like you describe, with the wrong person proceeding forward and people being in matches by themselves.

In short, the easiest/fastest way is still just to quit.. but only after the match actually begins (you are able to move).

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks for this.

I'm running it again on Protector tonight, perhaps tomorrow as well, so I'll be able to confirm if that's what happened to us last night by making sure everyone waits until the fight actually starts (timer visible).

It may be that part wasn't clear to everyone last night.
21. Bubsy... Peacekeepers or something I think.

She and her husband were responsible for helping my wife's first toon get to 50 during the daytime hours. Good folks.

That goes way back indeed if it is!

A member of that SG was a RL buddy of mine, @Fatespinner, who later joined my SG when PK disbanded / waned into disuse. He no longer plays.

Any of this ring a bell?
22. With Carnada's valuable feedback last night, we figured out these little details as we ran a Tournament Victor badge coop:

<ul type="square">[*]Fastest method is to have the player advancing for the badger to defeat his/her matched opponent while all others exit their own matches. Having one player defeat the other in matches where the badger is absent has no effect other than possibly take up more time.[*]Some matches will pull in a 3rd participant during the second round. Proceed as usual. One will likely be kicked out automatically. There was no impact that we could see on advancements when this happened.[*]Sometimes the one supposed to advance will not. We thought staying in the arena until the timer expired (after defeating the opponent) helped, but then later on it happened again despite this. Leaving before the defeated opponent did not change this outcome (I was experimenting since this happened to me personally). No clue what is happening there.[*]We saw a match where the badger advanced through all 3 levels... facing the same opponent each time. Badge was awarded nonetheless.
We had the minimum 8 required to start these, and swapped out characters as we progressed for those with multiple badgers so in all I believe 15 or 16 characters got badged. This was apart from Carnada's own runs.
