Is there a level 45-50 Kheldian mission? I keep calling Sunstorm, but he keeps giving me the "all missions cleared" text. He's also in my inactive contacts. Is there something I'm missing?
-
((Thread necromancey, fear me. I get the impression, with the return of Villian RP, we could use this once again, so I'm dragging it up from the depths. If someone thinks they're better off leaving it and making a new rumor thread, well...
They're probably right, but I'm nostalgic.))
(A notice being hammered in pubs, bars, nightclubs and other relaxation areas, but not put in papers)
"Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen, and assorted Rogues, Villians and Mercenaries! I am interested in aquiring a few individuals for a job in Paragon City. Lol
If you can't stand the HEAT - get out of the Kheldian...
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't give up your day job!
EDIT: Bah, I see FFM beat me to it... Curse these forums and their issues :P -
Sorry, this post annoyed me quite a bit, so once again I'm stepping into the fray...
[ QUOTE ]
A small buff, maybe, but no rework. They're a hard AT to master, and they could use a little love, but just because the VEAT is out doesn't suddenly make them useless.
[/ QUOTE ]
This man has got it right.
[ QUOTE ]
actually they need a SIGNIFICANT rework to make them commercially viable in game which is what the bottom line is.
[/ QUOTE ]
This man hasn't.
[ QUOTE ]
You may be happy where they are now but the vast majority of players are not.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? You asked EVERYONE? I commend you!
Seriously, you don't count as the majority. I find, personally, that the balance is prettymuch even. There are those who were expecting oneshotting everything and whine about it, and there are those who went in expecting a complex AT with a good reward at the end who enjoy it.
[ QUOTE ]
The old "not everyone has a lvl 50" is true but the majority of people do but the mahority of people do not play khelds, they are the least played AT in the game, this is fact and verified by the devs.
[/ QUOTE ]
As you said, not everyone is 50, and people don't necessarily find kheldians to their tastes. I'd be curious to see where Soldiers are in a month or three with regards to numbers, I sincerely doubt they'll be the single most played AT in the game...
[ QUOTE ]
If people dont play them then they are a waste of code, its lunacy to have a "niche" AT in any MMO, they all need to appeal to a certain amount or they will get changed.
[/ QUOTE ]
They do? As far as I can tell most games have "Niche" content somewhere in them, and this game has more than it's share of "niche" content. As for a "waste of code", I think a bigger waste of time would be changing it when most of the people who play them like it as it is.
[ QUOTE ]
A small buff WONT get them being played which is the developers aim, they DONT want a "elitist" AT.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Elitist AT"? It merely requires forethought, and, shock horror, intellegent playing to get a HEAT to work. There are a great many powersets that have this "problem", and I don't see you moaning about them.
[ QUOTE ]
The reason they have not been changed so far is a catch 22, not that many people play them so we can work on things for the majority but not that many people play them because of how they are set up, and with the exception of the lunatic -30% res that khelds had solo back in i3 they havent changed while the whole game, and all other ATs, has changed around them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Most every AT and set has had "the game change around them". Most enemies had no ranged attacks at the game's inception, now EVERY enemy has at least a moderate ranged attack. Keeping away used to be a decent plan for blasters, hover was a must have. And "no changes"? We've had changes, most notably, Photon Seekers are no longer estupid.
[ QUOTE ]
They herald from the days when unyeilding rooted you and teletanking was considered an exploit, armours being mutually exclusive so you had to chose which on you would use before moving in, elude being a weak form of phase shift and so on. All Ats were "advanced" back then but the game has changed and so are khelds going to....just very late.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. Most ATs had needless caps that hindered fun gameplay. Having to pick your armors wasn't "advanced", it was just stupid.
[ QUOTE ]
The investment in time and delvelopment of khelds has been made, time has been allocated to their redevelopment (see here ) and I have no doubt they will be made into a more commecially viable entity (ie a better proportion of people will play them)
[/ QUOTE ]
So only dumbing down the AT will make it "commercially viable?" Seriously, if you WANT to play godmode, go in one of the Soldier teams you love so much. We're more than happy having to think over here. Anyway, what in that post said he was redeveloping them? They might just get a normal buff, like every other AT's been getting recently.
[ QUOTE ]
My guess, a reduction in the resistences of the human sheilds,
[/ QUOTE ]
Which very few people take, so can't be a problem.
[ QUOTE ]
a small amount of defence added,
[/ QUOTE ]
Why?
[ QUOTE ]
mez protection split across the sheilds ala fire armour,
[/ QUOTE ]
It's far more likely to go in the inherant, probably as an extension of cosmic balance.
[ QUOTE ]
base damage increase
[/ QUOTE ]
Might be useful.
[ QUOTE ]
and cosmic balance altered to reduce self buffs and start to grant team mates some.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why? Unlike CoV, we have defenders over here, a whole AT devoted to buffing. This aspect of the rework is totally pointless. If you want team buffs take Leadership.
[ QUOTE ]
Fact is kheld changes are a-coming and Im looking forward to them
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm looking forward to the Kheldian buffs. I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing a massive amount of changes.
[ QUOTE ]
(and yes I know people do play them, like them as is and can do a great job but its a waste of an AT if its enjoyed by the few and not the many)
[/ QUOTE ]
You're not forced to play a kheldian. There are no men with guns, screaming at you to play them. If you don't like the HEAT, you can play something else. Don't like it's tanking flaws? Play a Tank. Don't like Nova? Play a Blaster. Don't like how you're not "epic"? Go play a damn Soldier. HEATs are fine, all they need is a small amount of buffage to the right areas, and they'll be fine. A "rework" isn't going to help anyway, people who don't like Khelds will still not like Khelds. -
[ QUOTE ]
/e wonders how long before this thread degenerates into brainless (rimshot!) zombie movie one liners.
[/ QUOTE ]
This. Is. My. BOOMSTICK! -
[ QUOTE ]
2) Dwarf form attacks should have a taunt component.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed on every other issue, but don't Dwarves get a taunt on their attacks anyway? I've certainly noticed things turning round and hitting me when I thwonk them on the head with my meaty lobster fists. -
Sorry, I'm going to do that annoying thing where I quote someone's post and take each piece apart. I'm a nice person really.
[ QUOTE ]
I think alot of people will agree with me on this one, when we look at the HEAT and the VEAT, it's no problem to say that the VEAT has no doubt been favorized.
[/ QUOTE ]
I find both Kheldians and the Soldiers evenly matched, personally, but I realise this is a rhetorical statement.
[ QUOTE ]
The HEAT's can hardly solo, they are pretty much a poor copy of most heroes other AT's,
[/ QUOTE ]
This is, unless the planets have realigned, WAI. They're jack of all trades.
[ QUOTE ]
they cant DPS, but not as much as a blaster,
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, have you SEEN a level 50 WS with double Mire and Nova form?
[ QUOTE ]
The die faster then a troller,
[/ QUOTE ]
My Peacebringer is very surviveable, and I can always fall back on Dwarf form.
[ QUOTE ]
they can tank like a tanker, though they can not hold aggro in bigger groups as easy as tanker.
[/ QUOTE ]
Right here, but this comes under the jack of all trades argument. Furthermore, with proper slotting to the dwarf they could be "Main tank". You'd gimp the rest of your build, though.
[ QUOTE ]
Then we got the VEAT,
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is completely different to the HEAT.
[ QUOTE ]
I dont know to much about the Crab soldiers, but i know a bit about the Widows, Widows does very good damage, they got a Mag 4 Mez power,
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe it's mag 3, actually.
[ QUOTE ]
wich easy can be made spamable, I'v seen widows take down 2-3 heroes solo, cause they could use a Mez power WHILE they still could tear them apart with over average Melee Damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm assuming this refers to PvP, which I don't know much about and TBH don't personally care for, so I'll not comment.
[ QUOTE ]
I could mention ALOT more then this, but list would be to long, the point is, the VEAT is without a doubt FAR Superior to the HEAT.
[/ QUOTE ]
I find this argument flawed. The HEAT isn't the VEAT. They're different animals, both team players but very different in what they do.
[ QUOTE ]
Alone the Fact that the HEAT's powers are so "limited" makes them a bad an annoying class... They are unable to choose Traveling powers, powers like hasten can only be used in human form, they are unable to use half the powers if they are form shifters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong, actually. They can't take Teleport pools or Flight pools. I personally think this is slightly silly, but the point remains. Hasten is actually IMMENSELY popular, as clicky buffs carry on to forms. Simply hit hasten, Nova, and away!
[ QUOTE ]
Form Shifting is the Unique thing about the HEAT, so what i wonder is why there is NO focus on the forms... They cant use hasten, ALL buffs get disabled, even buffs like Health and Stamina.
[/ QUOTE ]
To compensate both forms have enhanced end recovery. Most people just don't slot it.
[ QUOTE ]
A VEAT can boost there Armor "Forms" with stuff like Health and Stamina, but a HEAT Cant... It is clear that the creators have favorised the Villains far higher then heroes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I honestly don't think so.
[ QUOTE ]
I personaly hope we will see some improvement in the future, some improvments to make the HEAT more... Epic...
[/ QUOTE ]
I too hope for improvements to my favourite AT, however, I think you've fallen into the trap of thinking "Epic" means "Powerful". Hero ATs aren't godmode. They're CoH on hard, they require a LOT of thinking to play right. WSs positively RIP through enemies at higher levels, at a rate even the best VEATs would struggle to match, and Peacebringers are the ultimate team fallback. They're just different from the VEATs.
[ QUOTE ]
Inherent Powers:
HEAT, The HEATs Inherent is a power MADE for team play, in solo PVP Arena and so a like this power is 100% USELESS.
[/ QUOTE ]
They're made for teams. Solo, you can use forms. I certainly agree it could use fixing, but it's far from useless.
[ QUOTE ]
VEAT, The VEAT's inherent power is one that passivly increases Regen and Recovery rate, there by making it perfect for Team Play, Solo and PVP.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll give, it's a useful inherant.
[ QUOTE ]
HEATs/VEATs in Teams:
A VEAT in a team is a good addiction, cause they can do decent damage, Hold enemies, and even buff there team to support them even more.
A HEAT in a team, can do low damage with limited attacks, They can't buff, a PB can heal and a WS can hold, but not NEAR enough fo it to be worth anything.
[/ QUOTE ]
The WS shouldn't really be holding. He should be double miring then swapping to Nova and one shotting entire mobs. The peacebringer's heal is a secondary ability, used on the Tank if the team's struggling or whatever. He can also tank, blast (And just to remind you, Nova used to be better damage than blasters) and melee hold. I'll give the duration isn't long, but he isn't a controller so I'm happy his hold's not as good.
[ QUOTE ]
So we come to the conclusion, that VEAT is no only Superior in Solo and PVP, even in teams they are Superior to the HEAT.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to have to disagree there. I think Khelds have a steep learning curve, and they need to be played well to succeed on any level at all, but they're certainly not BAD.
[ QUOTE ]
So the final Conclusion is: It's Time for a Rework of the HEAT.
[/ QUOTE ]
A small buff, maybe, but no rework. They're a hard AT to master, and they could use a little love, but just because the VEAT is out doesn't suddenly make them useless. -
Anyone got screenies of the new Rularuu claws? I'm considering getting them.
-
Pheobe clambered out of the rubble, bruises fading away on her skin as she extracted herself from the ruin. She glanced around her. Most of the Freaks had scrammed, the few that were left were buried under a ton of rubble. They'd survive, she thought to herself. She hopped over a chunk of granite, and, spotting a Freak pulling himself out of the ruin, smacked his head into one of the chunks of wreckage.
"You'll be grateful for that later" she said, as she slowly noticed Eliie wreaking havoc across the road.
"REALLY grateful..." she growled, running across to try and help the girl being pursued by Ellie. -
Pheobe had been struggling to find part of the Tank's armor that she could penetrate easily, yet still deal significant damage on. Circumstances had made this much easier. The melted armor on the Freak's metal chassis, and the outstretched arm it had been using to punch the red man in the face gave her the perfect opportunity. Leaping from her hiding place, she extended her claws and swung at a melted spot just under the Freak's shoulder, the three blades of her claws sliding easily into the molten metal. When the blades had sunk in sufficiently, she twisted, grinning as she heard wires snapping and gears grinding.
"You said something about fighting like a girl?" she said coyly, as the Freak looked back in surprise. -
The Tank took a brief second to fully absorb the statement, then flew into a fury.
"You want a fight? YOU WANT A DAMN FIGHT?! I'LL SHOW YOU WHO FIGHTS LIKE A GIRL!" he roared, charging like a rhino at the red-skinned hero, the thought of the girl gone from his mind.
Good. thought Pheobe, sneaking quietly out from the other side towards the tank's back, motioning with her hand for Sword to keep him occupied, as she tried to find the ***** in the tank's armor. -
My head nearly asploded. I don't suppose we'll be getting Nictus claws, though, so that's another char i'll need to slog to 35...
-
Pheobe watched the white tiger crash into the Freakshow with a rising concern, and was turning to go and placate her, when a sharp pain hit her in her back. She stumbled and fell, regaining her balance halfway through and rolling into her familiar fighting crouch. Glancing back to see who hit her, she spotted a huge Freakshow tank emerging from what had been the office door. He looked around at the carnage, with a look that was half rage, half murderous glee. He crunched his metals hands together, in a manner that resembled a normal person cracking his knuckles.
"OOOOOOOOOORIGHT!" he bellowed, "If any 'a you wimps want to take on a REAL Freak, COME AN' GIT SOME!"
Hearing this, the Freaks that were still left cheered and fought with renewed vigour, charging with glee at the heroes.
Pheobe got back up, and popper her cracked ribs back into place.
"Yay, something I can hit properly!" she smiled to herself, launching herself at the Tank, and ramming her claws up to the knuckle into his armor, and swinging her arm to the side, leaving a rent across his chest. Her roared and swung at her, missing as she darted aside and behind what was left of the bus shelter, and leaving a crack in the surface of the pavement.
"RARGH! Come and fight me, you coward!" he bellowed, stomping after her. -
Pheobe glanced behind her, with a little confusion. She thought he was Nictus, why was the Peacebringer, of all people, helping? She could work it out later. Where was she? Oh yes, Freakshow.
Pheobe crouched down, and waited until the Freaks charging at her were within striking distance, and leapt into a typhoon-like spin, claws leaving deep gouges on the beaten panels that made up the Freak's armor. As she landed, she kicked off again, flipping into the air and coming down like a falcon on top of the staggered Freaks, mangling the armor completely and knocking them to the ground.
"You're not going to stand up again if you know what's good for you." she said plainly, and hopped over them to the Smasher winding up to knock the hell out of the girl. -
I'll try and get there later!
-
Adam just chuckled slightly.
"I always thought you were rather brilliant, Oswald. Has that monster in your head gotten to you to the degree where you actually believe our goals are not in alignment? Think about it."
Adam stepped up from his chair and began talking.
"We're here to destroy and conqueor. We've never said why. Indeed, I think many of our goals are not in alignment. But I don't care. As you said yourself, those who are weak would have to be liberated of their existance. That's an ideal we can all strive for. Even Alicia, at the start of the meeting said she just wanted to kill a few thousand people. No, you can make that threat. But I don't believe you're actually stupid enough to be saying this. Until I hear a word from ORACLE, that this isn't just another one of your... How should I say... "turns", I won't have this. After all, why would you have made such an effort to aid us with the TLF's military intervention were you to despise our cause so much? Bring me some proof."
And with that, he finished, and sat down, eyes flickering across Hatesman's face for any sign of madness, or, indeed, rationality. -
Pheobe had been comfortably holding her own against the Freaks, dancing nimbly under their clumy metal hammers and slicing blades. She was somewhat graceful with the intervention of the other heroes, it meant she was dealing with a manageable amount of Freakshow, rather than the tide of cyberpunks she'd thought she'd have to deal with. She slid her claws through the interlocking plates of one of the Freak's Excelsior feed, and grinned as he collapsed to the floor. She took a quick glance around her. Two Freaks with feeds and jury-rigged dermal armor. An enforcer with a twin set of scyth-arms. A speeding Nictus heading towards her. Nothing to challenging.
"Wait, Nictus?!" she cried out, spinning back around to face the dark purple Nova moments away from impact. -
((I'm making a spontaneous RP thread. No particular reason, I just feel there isn't enough spontaneous RP. Anyway, if I had a reason, it wouldn't be spontaneous, would it!))
There'd been an odd occurance in town, which is why Pheobe had decided to investigate. Apparently, a bunch of Freakshow had holed up inside an office block, and the man who tried to tell them, in the politest possible way, to shove off had nearly been electrocuted. Pheobe prefered it when there wasn't a second chance.
She couldn't help but feel dissapointed in herself as she flew through a window two stories to the ground below. Not because she was getting her butt kicked, but more because she didn't like other people getting involved. With dozens of Freakshow pouring out of the office block doors and windows, that didn't seem like it was going to be an option. Pheobe forced herself to her feet, her regeneration taking the strain of the fall, and brushed a spatter of oil off her leather jacket. She looked up at the army of marxist-anarchist-cyberpunk revolutionaries, flicked out her claws, and smiled.
"Alright, who's first?" she roared, charging straight at them. -
Adam strode in, looking faintly irritated, and carrying the now recogniseable briefcase.
"My apologies for being late. I had one of my creations run amok on me." he said, then his look of annoyance changed into a sly smile "There'll only be seven drones in the first batch, now, if you were wondering." -
But the game's gender system dosen't just discriminate between male and female, it discriminates between male, female, and huge. I don't think it's unreasonable to allow it on this basis. I mean, just look at the hulk, for my example, and it's entirely possible you could use a disguise or potion (midnight visage...) to change gender.
-
A trick I've noted for the healer, he has a sort AoE twilight grasp (as in it can hit more than one of you, I realise it's an AoE heal!), so if you have a mostly ranged party you can stand outside of his range and let one or two melee guy thwack him to keep him still.
-
I've been noticing a far more serious problem: Fly and Quantum flight seem to be at hover speed, whilst hover is capped out of the box. Is anyone else getting this?
