With the I8 hover buff you hover slightly faster than unenhanced sprint if you put 3 SO flights into hover and one into swift. It's pretty good in combat.
[/ QUOTE ]
I use hover quite a bit now with my Energy/Energy Blaster - Power Boost and the GvE Jump Jet make it very handy.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned another benefit of hover over flight (in combat): No supression. I can hardly stand to be in flight now during combat (which happens when I forget to switch to hover) as I end up moving slower than hover! -

... Of course that argument is silly... everyone knows the world is shaped like a giant D20!

I thought we all know the Earth to be banana shaped. -
This is my first and only MMPORPG thus far, and so I first heard the term here, used it, but later dropped it in favor of "hero" or "villain" -- "character" is just too associated with PnP days and RPGing (which I do only to a very small degree in CoH/V). But I've probabaly used it to describe my heroes and villains also.
Don't really have a dog in this hunt; it is just a game.
Perhaps "token," "piece," or "man" (not to be sexist) would work . . . -

. . . I just needed to say that my first toon ever was a kinetics defender, and IMO kin/ or /kin is by a small margin the most helpful defender set, followed by FF, followed by Empathy and Rad. This is from the perspective of someone who plays an ice/EM tanker most of the time.

No love for Darks?

Dark Defender says: Too bad he missed from the debuffs, I was hoping to show that my debuffs halved his damage output.

[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget, "But since they missed, I'll up your damage output by lowering damage resistance and slowing them (tarpatch), fear them (fearsome stare), or hold them (pentrifying gaze). IF that doesn't work, we'll spam a -regen, -acc debuff that, oh-by-the-way, has a nice heal (twilight grasp). And if you happen to fall, I can rez you and all our friends at once -- assuming I'm still standing (howling twilight)."
Sorry, I got carried away. Basically, I haven't teamed with a decent player running any type of defender that hasn't helped out the team greatly in one way or another. -
I need to stop looking at this thread ... I'm at the point where I half-expect an announcement that Dark Miasma will become available as a Controller secondary in I-7, and of course many of the powers will be as good as or better as a controller secondary than a defender primary.
Probably just my mood being stuck inside during a beautiful spring day, though.
[NOTE: Had not seen Zombie_Man's post before I posted. He made me feel SO much better, lol]

I'm torn here.
1. I really appreciate having the boss come here and give an explanation. You rarely get that from gaming companies.
2. I'm really annoyed something that is a substantial nerf in most situations (It will be worse for the people who use 3 enhancments), is being framed dishonestly. Its not just an error of omission, as all the talk about these changes matches up with the wrong numbers, not the corrected numbers.
This is a large nerf for a month+. If a month+ is no big deal, then how about we don't have to pay for that month? Its a big deal...
P.S. I am not currently playing any character who uses accuracy debuff (My DDD has been sidelined for a long time), I just feel bad for all those who do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Captured my feelings exactly (and as you can see from my sig, my main is a dark/dark defender).
Either used the "freespec" or a hard-earned respec after I6 to address ED by doing what? You guessed it: Slotting for debuffs and dropping some attacks to add team-friendly debuff powers ...
Boy, I feel pretty stupid now. And I take back anything bad I ever thought about other AT communities getting into a lather over earlier nerfs. Oy vey es mir! -

If the game, for some reason, fails to load an NPC character model, it defaults to the first model in the interal list, which is the 5th Column Mek Man.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah! That explains all those Mek Man Snakes in an Arachnos lab awhile back, LOL. And thanks. -
[ QUOTE ]
I also vote 5th Column Mek Man, in the hopes that player input will influence your decision. What better way to celebrate two years with CoX than with the longest standing bug in the game?
Hey, we kid because we love. It's such a dumb, harmless bug, it's not really worth the time spent hunting it down, but that makes it no less funny every time it happens.
[/ QUOTE ]
Help out a neophyte here (dove in July of 2005): Explain the Mek Man bug, please?
