  1. Welcome to the game!

Perez Park is what is known as a hazard zone - there is no content there. If you are sent to Perez Park, it will be to hunt a certain group, or to go to a door mission in that zone.

At the high single digits, like 8 or 9, head to the Hollows and do David Wincott's arc. It's a nice little story and has a great completion bonus. Alternatively, head to Kings Row, talk to your detective (he'll show up on your map automatically) and follow his directions to get some new contacts and some temporary travel powers.

    Regarding inter-zone travel:

The fastest way is to take the tram, which is a little blue T on your map. This will take you between 5 of the lower level zones. There is another tram line that takes you between 7 of the higher level zones. At level 14 you can get one of 4 permanent travel powers - flight, super jump, super speed or teleportation - that will let you travel quickly inside zones. You'll still use the tram to travel between zones, though.

Check out ParagonWiki for all the info you'll ever want, and if you can't find something, ask it here!

    PvP Domination

    I think you dropped these.

  3. I've been fixing up some errors in this mission, so all the typos should be fixed and the final mission should be a lot smoother. I'd appreciate any feedback on the difficulty of my custom Skulls, and any other thoughts you may have!
  4. As you can see by my wiki page (*points to sig*), my most common AT is the scrapper - 5 out of my 12 50s are scrappers, and I have a bunch of lower level scrappers as well. My long term goals are to get every AT to 50 and every scrapper powerset to 50.

I've made a lot of defenders too, but most of them never get past 20 or 25...

    The Lazarus Arcs

    [ QUOTE ]
    Arc Name: MacGuffin Delivery Service
    Arc ID: 1567
Faction: Family, Tsoo, Circle of Thorns, Carnies, Freakshow, Council, Paragon Police
    Morality: Villainous
    Difficulty Level: Easy-Medium
Synopsis: A routine late-night pawn shop robbery turns into a major ordeal when you pick up a mysterious little statue that everyone seems to want for themselves. You don't know what it does, why it's so important, or why you can't seem to just get rid of it.
Estimated Time to Play: 30-45 minutes

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Very nice arc!

I ran it with a hero, but had no difficulty since I was examplared to level 40. I loved the dialogue, the complex mechanics and (mostly) the choice of maps, but was disappointed with a few things.

First, running through a nearly empty map in the second mission and then running all the way back to the entrance to chase the dependent objectives was a bit of a pain. I don't think it would be an issue for the carnies to ambush the player, since they are supposed to be meeting the foes you defeat anyway.

Second, glowie hunting in Oranbega, especially in the large room with pillars, is a pain in the butt. I noticed that you dislike glowie hunting on outdoor maps - this is almost the same thing. Fortunately I didn't have to find all of them to find the one I was looking for.

Third, I didn't care for the way the dialogue was laid out like a diary entry. It disallows the appearance of free will by writing the characters own thoughts (even though it may not make sense to that character) and it presents everything as a fait accompli, instead of a reactionary adventure to a robbery-gone-wrong. There's no surprise for the finale.

Apart from those issues, it was an excellent arc, and I give it a final rating of: FOUR STARS.
  6. Hey Lazarus! I'd love a critical review of my new arc:

    Arc Title: The Superadine Revolution

    Arc ID#: 262739

Description: No longer content just to push Superadine and commit petty crimes, the Skulls are attempting to steal control of the entire Superadine operation from the leaders of the Family. The combination of the dark magic of the Skulls and the pure strain of Superadine would make them incredibly powerful...

    Author: @SpaceNut
    Alignment: Heroic, levels 20-29
Length: Approx 1 hour (5 missions)
Difficulty Level: Moderate (Elite bosses in 2 missions, but otherwise soloable)
    Enemies: Family, "Skulls"

If your character can handle EBs, go ahead and run it on whichever difficulty you'd like. If you have trouble with EBs, running it on heroic will downgrade them to normal bosses. Think of the arc as the missing TF/story arc for 20-29 groups, since so many other groups have TFs and arcs written about them in that range.

I'll be running "MacGuffin Delivery Service" shortly and will leave a review on your thread!

Edit: Review complete and posted on your thread!

great people that were more than happy to help me get started

    [/ QUOTE ]

So you admit that people don't find it a hassle to help you solo TFs... You solo TFs with no problem and people don't seem to complain about helping you out.

So remind me what your point is again and why the devs need to spend time changing TFs?

Part of the reason they're not considered casual is because you have to have several like-minded people who are committed to completing them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Proven false by those that have soloed them. Not even a second player is needed to be present at completion. They only need to be part of the TF and logged off.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just because some people have solo'd them doesn't mean they should be turned into content that is intentionally soloable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is truth. Just because certain players can solo it does not mean the devs should make it easier to solo. It's designed for teams - if you've put enough effort into your character to be able to solo a TF, you should have no problem forming a temporary team to get you started.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because hassling other players is good!

Soloing a TF without having to hassle other players so that you can solo it is BAAAAAAAAAD.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aha! And now we get to the heart of the issue. You're projecting your attitude on the rest of the playerbase.

It's not a hassle to help a friend start a TF that they want to solo. It's not a hassle to help out a friend with an influence transfer, and it's not even a hassle to help out a friend with a pesky elite boss in their mission that they can't beat alone.

If you don't have enough friends to help you start a TF, and I'm going to say this as politely as I can, maybe you need to spend less time demanding that the devs cater to your playstyle and more time making friends.

  11. I haven't PvPed in a zone since I was defeated in Warburg and the brute decided to do the crouch emote over my face repeatedly after he defeated me.

Fight club among friends is another story.
  12. It's funny watching you two make the same point over and over. Yes, TFs require a team. Yes, it's arbitrary. Yes, the devs seem to like it that way. You can keep pounding your head against the wall all you want, but that doesn't make it a pillow.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
So, I have a copy of the Architect Edition that I havent used the code from yet, since, well, I already have an account, and had already purchased both Cyborg and Maguc boosters before it was availible. So I figured I'd hold onto it until the next booster got released- today I tried to add the code, but was only presented with the options for the previous two boosters- Is that correct?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes.
  14. How about we wait to see what the alternate animations are before we add more stickies? Obviously no one but the devs know yet, but I'm guessing that we're not going to get a ton of alternate animations showing up. New animations are a lot more complicated than new costume parts.

    Outback, welcome to the game.

Your analysis is true for those that play as your analysis has shown.

I prefer these 5 ATs to play like this:

Everyone dives in at once killing everything.
    Race to next spawn.
    Repeat.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you're a tank, dive in and kill things.
If you're a scrapper, try to beat the tank to the next spawn so you can kill things.
If you're a blaster, shoot the enemies before the tank and the scrapper kill them.
If you're a defender, buff your teammates and then kill things.
If you're a controller, lock things down and laugh as your pets kill them.
  17. I think the issue is that the spawn system doesn't know what to do for more than an 8 person team on the highest difficulty. Lag and unwieldiness aside, the devs would have to figure out what size enemy spawn is needed for 9 through whatever person teams, and I think that effort would better be spent elsewhere.
  18. Hola amigo!

Todos los ATs should do lo que necesitan para not die y have fun. Si los jugadores no estan having fun, ningun de los ATs estan doing their jobs.

    Adios!

If I wanted to go windsurfing, I have countless beaches that I could go to all on my own because I have the resources and wherewithal to not bother with a tour company.

When I want to go dancing, I can do so whenever I want either alone or with a partner. I find an appropriate location and go after it.

CoH is a hobby of mine. One I've kept on my radar for well over four years. I like to see my hobbies improved. As this one has been. I like my skill with my hobby improved, as I've done so with this one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you for proving my point.

If you want to play CoH solo, you can do it whenever you want (barring server downtime). There are countless mission you can go to all on your own because you have the resources and wherewithal to not bother forming a team. You can do those missions alone or with a partner in an appropriate location.

However, if you want to run a TF, go on a windsurfing tour, or participate in an exchange weekend, you're going to have to learn to play with other people and invest a sizable chunk of time. That was the decision of the developers/tour operators/dance organizers and until they decide otherwise, you're out of luck.
  20. My first I16 change is probably going to be alternate animations for my MA scrapper. I designed a lot of characters with the colors of their powersets in mind, so I don't have any that are demanding color changes. Maybe I'll make my MM's bubbles grey...
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Striga. No reason to go to any of those zones, ever.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wha? Striga has 4 great story arcs and two of the most enjoyable TFs in the game!
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I'll state this again: What makes the TF/SFs special is NOT the minimum requirement. It's the content. Content that is being blocked to:
    A: People with lives
B: People that don't like people
C: People that have life happen

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm sick of this holier-than-thou attitude regarding players that have issues doing TFs, and the insinuation that people who can do TFs don't have lives.

Playing an MMO is just like any other hobby. If you dedicate time and energy to it, you can participate in all the content. If you can only play in short doses, or insist on soloing, then you may not be able to experience everything.

If you windsurfed a couple of times every year, you'd probably complain that the weeklong trip to the Caribbean was too much time and effort, and the tour company should make it so you can go down there for an afternoon to windsurf by yourself.

If you went dancing once a month, you'd probably complain that an exchange weekend was too much time and effort, and that you should be able to see all the amazing bands on your own schedule instead of traveling to see them all play the same weekend.

There are plenty of hobbies that I put less time and energy into than CoH, but I certainly don't make demands on the organizers of those hobbies to allow me to experience everything having to do with that hobby even though I'm only a casual participant.
  23. Omg I can't wait to get to Kings Row!

For me personally, the first few villain zones are way too monotonous. It's not until I finally hit Nerva and St. Martial that I start enjoying CoV.

Also, I'm not a big fan of Skyway City, especially before travel powers. It's just big for the sake of being big.
  24. Pretty much.

The biggest issue is that you can't really test it before republishing. I'm going to make some changes in the finale of my latest arc, but I'll have to run through the whole arc to see if those changes did what I wanted.

On the run I did last night, they were camping the mission door waiting for us to re-enter. We learned the hard way that if the team wipes, everyone should wait and go back in at the same time.

The Reichsman fights are VERY different on each side. Blueside experience is useless for the redside fight.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, blueside it's just like any other AV fight just with a de-phase temp power. Red side you have to strategically use the 5 different temp powers (which you get depends on your AT) given to you and hope you don't wipe on the first attempt since the ambush will continue to spawn and chase you upon re-entry into the mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

My run last night had the same thing happen, but we learned there are a maximum number of ambushes, and after that, you can fight him like any regular AV (just with more HP).
