  1. The thought of such well-known players as Damz etc leaving for the US really does make me sad.
  2. Well this is my feeble attempt:


    The idea is that the praetorian star acts as a 'halo', making Cole (the outline) seem almost angelic. The crowd cheering in the background is reminiscent of when the citizens of earth almost forced him to become the emperor. Cole is standing there triumphant and the simple 'perfection' slogan reminds those looking at the billboard of how he has transformed the barren nuclear wasteland into his gold-lined utopia. The golden-hue again suggests that utopian feel.

    The 'Tyrants Tower' within Cole could be seen both as a promotion and reminder of the above, but also as a subtle warning: 'I am watching you'.

    Minimalist but hopefully effective enough.

    Okay well here's a few items I'd absolutely love to see:

    Given Ultra mode we seem to have only a few sets that are REALLY reflective (like metallic, obv) can we get more sets that are reflective. Also is it possible to get animated aspects to costumes so, for example, if we had a neon glow the glow would pulse or fade? You know, just a few things to add interest and spark and keep it all looking good!

    I personally LOVE all of the unique maps that are in the game. Especially I love the villain side one (I think) where a Demon has been through the map and you are following him throughout and the lifts are wrecked and his burning footprints are on the floor. All these little details really do give me a kick, so I'd love to see much more unique maps and also perhaps some more different tilesets that we've never seen before. Old SG Bases was an interesting new one but what about a new setting... another country with a famous landmark or something that we've just not seen. Even something Arctic-inspired would be cool. Or Space!

    All these new sounds and crackling paper bags as the pedestrians walk by are absolutely amazing and really add for more depth. Is it possible to just keep on expanding this and even stuff we take for granted like if you're at the top of the map to see a plane go by or hear a distant plane? I don't know it might not work or be in-keeping but however you do it, keep the immersion going as much as possible!

    Looking into UI and stuff like that all I'd really want to see is more loading screens (which you've said you're already doing) and to sort out some of the new stuff that i17 took away. For example, when you right click on a critter now the only option you get is 'Follow' whereas before you got 'Follow' and 'Info'. Little QoL changes like that.

    I'd love to see powers casting light in a given situation. For example if I'm in a dark hallway I would love to see a power (e.g. fireball?) light up the hallway as its cast. I'm not even sure if this is technically possible with an older game engine like the one we have, but I thought I'd throw it in there.

    Last but not least I for one think that mittens and the older character models are becoming quite dated. I know this would take an insane amount of time to do, but updating these character models would go a long way to complimenting Ultra Mode.

    I'll keep posting as and when I think of more but I'd love to hear what your thoughts are on that!

    Are you able to tell us anything about the artwork you will be putting into CoH2 or is this a CoH2 idea thread?


    EDIT: One thing I've been meaning to say for a while that would give the players much more flexibility within the character creator is more colours to apply to the costume pieces. Or is there some bizarre technical limitation that would stop you from letting us do this?

    After I asked and everyone bombarded Posi with requests, we saw the fabled Nemesis Horse! Notice Posi in his Wedding Suit!



    All of a sudden the Jade Spider appeared and we were attacked. As per usual Positron just floated there while everyone died (that's what the normal NPC's do too!) and just as quickly as it came, it disappeared.



    Last but not least a quick pic of Posi and Bab's entertaining the masses and fielding questions.


    All in all I had a fantastic time for the time I was able to be there. Special thanks goes to Mod 08 for his patience with my grilling questions on the live serversm and The Television for setting a custom gold title I've wanted forever!

  11. Hi everyone,

    The Union TaskForce Channel (UTF) is pleased to announce that UTF will be running more events and becoming more of a presence in the EU Community. As such we thought it's a good idea to give a rundown of events happening over the course of the week, so you can pick and choose (if any) you would like to participate in.

    Below is a list of our current weekly schedule:

    Weekday Events:
    Monday to Friday, there will be an ITF (Imperious’ Task Force) at 1pm (13:00)

    Weeknight Events:
    Monday: Mothership Raid starting at 20:15 and meeting at Pont Du Hoc.
    Tuesday: Judgement Dave's Special (Random TF made known before the event) at 20:00. Note: This will more often than not be focused on the TF's that reward the Task Force Commander Accolade.
    Wednesday: Arctic Princess' Special (Random TF made known before the event) at 20:00. Note: As with Judgment Dave's event, this will more often than not be focused on the TF's that reward the Task Force Commander Accolade. These two slots will not run the same TF in any given week.
    Thursday: TBC
    Friday:Mothership Raid starting at 20:15 and meeting at Pont Du Hoc.
    Sunday: Rapid Energy's Specialised TF (Single Archetype TF) starting at 20:00.

    Note about Mothership Raid's: Depending on interest on the day, we often run more than one raid at a time. Each raid takes roughly an hour to complete so if you miss the first one, please don't hesitate to come along to the second or even the third if there are enough people wanting to do it!

    We would also like to mention that we are planning some fun and unique events. Designed to get the community to join together, in the spirit of fun and that means prizes too! When everything is confirmed check back here (and/or read the UTF MotD) and we’ll announce full details for everyone to see.

    In the mean time, if you would like to run an Event or TF/SF, please send a tell in-game to one of the following:
    @Soul Storm
    @Damz
    @Saphi
    @Judgment Dave
    So we can edit the MotD, for all to see your event.

    I added 2 new clues from the first 2 forms as you say but upon mission completion I added a Clue that grant you a full bio of The Shapeshifter and the motivations etc.

  14. I've been asking around and it seems that people are either not bothered, because ... well hey its a loading screen or they're generally in favour of an update. I asked whether they'd prefer an updated version of the existing screens and more often than not people either wanted an animated (short 5-10 second animation) version of the loading screen, or a completely new design.

    I even had an attempt at making a version myself which I won't post here, but Sam's right, it doesn't take too long to do. Heck I'd even give it a go myself if the dev's would give me any specifics!

  16. First of all I'd like to thank you for running through the arc and giving me such excellent feedback!

    I have gone over the text and made it clear that everyone in the first mission is to be terminated. That’s what is supposed to be morally grey.

    I put Romulus' scalding in as a way of trying to emphasise that emotionally Romulus is unstable and isn’t in full control. If there is another way of emphasising this without scalding the player I’d love to hear the suggestion.

    I have rewritten the bit about hiding for 3 weeks. I had put it in there originally to show a passing of time, but as you’ve pointed out any normal super hero wouldn’t need that; they’d just go kick contact ****.

    As you pointed out (thanks!) the Officer animation was a bug, and one that’s since been corrected.

    I have now restructured the final mission so there’s no pesky nav-spoilers and the preliminary boss-fights now drop clues to suggest what’s happening. I’ve also added a lot more BG info for The Shapeshifter which you see upon mission completion. I’ve fleshed out the bare bits a little bit better.

    If it’s possible I’d like to re-submit this to the end of your queue just to see what you make of the revised additions.
  17. I just ran the IntelBurn Test on the standard stock speed everything was stable. Then I changed the profile in the bios to Turbo, which overclocks the CPU to 3.71Ghz and the IntelBurn Test said the system became unstable (I'm running the standard stock cooler, If I wanted to run with this setting normally I'd have to upgrade probably the cooler and case?) which is what the system was on when the above problem started.

    I have since changed the profile to Better Performance which runs the CPU @ 2.97Ghz and everything is proved stable CPU wise. Would this the be source of my problem or is the graphics card still at fault? The GPU Stress test I posted above does suggest a high temperature of 119 degrees.

  19. I don't know if the following is helpful but here are my full specs and a small update:

    Graphics Card: ATI Radeon Hd3850 Pro 512 MB running 10.2 drivers.
    Mobo: Asus p7p55d Pro
    Memory: 4GB G. Skill Ripjaw Dual Channel 1600Mhz Kit DDR3 PC3=12800C9
    PSU: Hec-550td-pte 550W
    Case: From Maplin, http://maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97188
    Processor: Core i5 750 originally overclocked using the bios turbo profile to 3.7ghz from the stock speeds, and reliably so for a good few months, with cool idle temps of 32 degrees Celsius and loads of 50 degrees. But since this graphics problem I returned it to stock speed just in case. The fact that I have been able to run it like that for so long I would think suggest there’s not a problem with airflow throughout the case.

    I also ran the Furmark test, and the card started off at 72 degrees Celsius and went up to 119 running with Post FX and Displacement Maps with 8x MSAA at 1680x1-5- resolution
  20. When I was running CoH fullscreen it was 102/103 degrees. Ever since I've been running CoH in window mode and it still heats up to 85-95 degrees but it's not forced a hard reset. I've heard it might be something to do with the Thermal Paste on the card drying up but I don't really know much about that. I tried to get the shop where I got it from to replace it but they said it's out of warranty. I also tried to contact ATI but I've not heard anything back from them since.

    I'd like to try out a different graphics card but I've not got another and no one I know has one comparable. When I did the dusting of the computer the other day there was little to no dust surprisingly. The only place there really was any was in the graphics card cooler and like I said I've cleaned that out now.

  22. I've tested some games. If I run CoH in windows mode the temperature goes to 90 degrees. In Borderlands the temperature floats between 80 and 100. Tf2 was the same if a little less at more or less 75-85 most of the time.

    A friend of mine seems to think reverting the Bios to the version I had a week ago will help the problem. As far as trying to force the card to crash out again I'll try it tomorrow as its quite late here now.

    Thanks for the help so far guys. Is it looking to be a specifically graphics card thing? The card is 2 years old only but I don't think the place I got it from would replace it now would they?
