I'm not sure I'd take a /shield in PvP. The defense is pitiful compared to the to-hit buffs you'll be facing.
With that said, dark would be the more viable option to round out the lack of a heal in /shield, although if you're looking for insane damage, a saturated SS/Shield is looking at around +500% damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem is....you'll never have THAT many Heroes around you and be alive long enough to use it heh
[/ QUOTE ]
Ohh..I don't know about that. Imagine a sg vs sg match with a saturated Sd leading the spear tip. Scary.
[/ QUOTE ]
He will just provide the focal point for all the debuffs. Not scary at all.
That's if a buffed-to-the-max blaster doesn't 3-4 shot him. -

How fast is too fast?

They won't say anything. MAYBE in a PM, definatly not in public forums though.
I've just kept toons logged in while I'm at work to rack up "play" hours... *shrug*

Nice another exploit post in the forums.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you seriously calling leaving a character logged into the game an EXPLOIT?
Just leaving him logged in????
WTF?!?!?! -

Then those of you trying to take this to another level better be ready to step before a ethics review board to state your case. Otherwise, its your word against again...a ""internationally-recognized scholar".
Good luck with that!
[/ QUOTE ]
internationally recognized scholar? Did they put that in the article seriouslyor did you call him that? I wonder what makes you that. I've had abstracts in international meetings as well as the major one for my field. Does that make me an internationally known scholar? Or do i actually need a PhD for that?
Here is my whole thing with it usually science is peer reviewed and that is what alot of these critiques are, perr reviews.
[/ QUOTE ]
I took that from his bio on the schools webpage....
http://css.loyno.edu/masscomm/facult.../david-m-myers
If you would like to argue his status, there's a email address and direct phone number on the page. You might also contact the dean of the department and ask him the critera for becoming internationally recognized.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know what is sadder, the fact he is an internationally recognized SCHOLAR OF VIDEO GAMES or the fact that even with those credentials, he still doesn't seem to understand [censored]. -

It's [censored]-ing pathetic that we have to do that.

Especially when it's a simple matter of communication. They just won't communicate what is "too short". -

The truth is that this guy wrote a "research paper" with little to no intellectual value concerning online communities ("I griefed people, now I'm gonna downplay it and say that they overreacted.").
[/ QUOTE ]
This sums it all up.
There is nothing to "get over".
But if you put your work out there for public comsumption, people will let you know if they think it is crap or not.
And his work was crap. -
With how fast people level up during double xp weekend, coupled with how fast people ALREADY level up during AE boss farms, even with PuG's........hmmm.....how in the world will that NOT make their "level too fast" alarms go off?
Maybe like half the toons in the game will get deleted from that weekend. -
His constant surprise at normal human behavior, and his completel inability to figure out why people would be angry with him really does make him seem like a sociopath.
-
This guy may be a PhD but he is clearly a few cards short of a full deck.
Teleporting people into NPC's to die and get debt makes people angry at you?
OH MY GAWD, WHO KNEW? -
Is there a red-side channel for people to organize things in? Like champion villains or something?
Seems like there are a lot of people playing redside solo... -
I am playing redside a lot these days. I am always down to help with whatever or just do some regular teams.
-
This is very cool that you are taking the knowledge gained from the market and teaching others.
By giving some semi-regular instruction, there really will be no excuses to not make money. -

Hero side MMs in film & pop culture;
Necro = Frank Bannister (Frighteners) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Frighteners
Mercs = Col John "Hannibal" Smith (The A-team) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_team
Thugs = Curtis Sliwa (Guardian Angels) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_Sliwa
Ninjas = Splinter (TMNT) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage..._Ninja_Turtles
Robots = Johhy Sokko Though he only had 1 BIG robot (Which is how I envisioned Blue Side Robot MMs anyways) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_Robo_(tokusatsu)

Some of the most ridiculous stretches I've ever seen. -
The problem though is that people that play the market usually don't share their little tricks other than "buy low sell high" and so that excludes anyone who isn't willing to sit and try to figure out a market mini game when they actually purchased a super hero game.
So suggesting the market as a normal source of income is, for the most part, idiotic.
But for you long-time players that love to play the market, please continue to come into threads with transparent "pat myself on the back for being rich" posts. -

Oh cmon! I watch the news, its not like he is on daily LOL and plus im watching the news while playing a game, so I could prob pull his voice out of a crowd but face wise, I know ive seen him but did not place!
So just wow ;}

I'm just not sure which to make fun of, the fact you didn't recognize him or the fact that you thought the arms were real.
I'll go with option C: Both. -

You have the best avatar EVER, Stark.
lol....just awesome.

Yea I honestly did not know who it was, I even asked him cuz I thought it was friggin real lol until he said the arms were dubbed in, for some reason I did not notice that until he said, now its so friggin obvious ;(
[/ QUOTE ]
Just wow. -
I have a question for people that have both /energy and /elec:
I know that /Elec has buildup but have the /energy buffs put energy high enough on burst damage scale that it really isn't that far of from elec's damage, even without buildup?
What about for pvp? -

Best post you've ever made.

I will make the superteam post tomorrow at work. Right now I'm too hammered to care.

I just started playing a Robotics Mastermind, and it seems to me that the blast from Pulse Rifle Blast is late. The sound goes off, my character makes a shooting motion, and about a second later a red beam goes from the rifle to the bad guy, or wherever it missed.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am getting this too. The laser beam is definitely out of sync with the gun firing. -
That's the other thing. There really seems to be a void on red-side Champ for teaming. Not that it doesn't happen, it is just so much rarer than blue-side.
Maybe this can get red-side a little more active in general. Would be glad to have malefactored doms helping as well.
Like I said, we shouldn't need a common VG as a requirement and we should just coalition to other VG's for people that can't leave theirs. -
This seems to animate as the rifle firing, then the damage popping up, then the actual laser coming out a few seconds later.
Does it animate all screwy like that for anyone else? -
[ QUOTE ]
For the whole "superteam" thing, the usual approach is having enough AoE damage and valuable buffs to be able to mow things down fast, and safely. Doms ALL have AoE controls, so killing fast for survivability should be less of an issue, as helpless mobs are no danger.
The only things I might mention are these; Doms have a high BASE damage now, so while previously any +damage buffs were run off of the out of domination values, now they are almost twice as potent. A full team running assault would do a great deal more damage.
For extra tricks, having some /psy's around for drain psyche's -regen could be very useful against AV's. (And with all these doms, we can hold AV's pretty well)
As for mitigation, everybody has it. 8 maneuvers would make for more offensive capabilities, as lockdown would be less important...but toggles on the now more end-intensive doms is a tough sell. Some plant/ doms can add healing, but I'm not sure how well stationary heals will help if the pacing is fast.
[/ QUOTE ]
And that is exactly how I am thinking of things. At least for the first part.
There shouldn't really be much need for heals or mitigation as long as multiple people run in slinging controls everywhere.
Certain Dom sets have powers that can screw up an entire spawn fast, such as seeds from plant, ice slick from ice, flashfire or the earth equivalent, etc.
Should be lots of AoE control powers to go around and that should make it so that there is very little worry over heals/buffs.
I think the damage on doms now is really getting good and that's why I don't think we will need assault or multiple debuffs or anything like the other super teams had. Just the fact that everyone has high damage offensive powers should be enough.
Stacked Maneuvers would be nice, but again, I don't feel like it would be needed with all the mezzes flying.
Drain psyche will help with AV's for sure but hopefully the damage will be high enough to counter the regen anyways. (but there is almost always a /psy running around whenever I see doms out and about)
Because of all this, I don't think we will need to make any rules for "you must take these powers/these pools" like other super teams seem to do.
For Dom team it is going to be simple-> Lock it down->Beat it down -

i have a few questions; this is going to be a reroll deal right? where we all start at lvl 1 together? Also, the activity is a concern, the last few times i have experienced groups like this, it ends up 1 or 2 people actually playing and the rest just stop at lvl 10
[/ QUOTE ]
Obviously the majority of people will be starting at level 1 and working up together.
When I make the official post for this I'm going to give a date and time to start and we can all do Kalinda's arc together and move on from there.
I am definitely starting a level 1 for sure.
Now as to whether or not people all stop playing at level 10 well, that's up to you guys -
Also, I would be much more interested in running through the actual content due to the aforementioned badges-for-accolades/merits.
I would rather just avoid AE alltogether. -
I think as long as we get a nice start and then get some kind of organization to it then it won't have to be nightly.
I just wanted to put it into an SG format (not a requirement though) so that it would be readily apparent who was on and who wasn't and what levels those people would be at so sidekicks could quickly be doled out.
But people could obviously use this organization to play nightly if they wanted.
We could even move it to RWZ and Cim eventually in case people got way behind but had heroes they wanted to level up.
I know that Superteams are usually much more rigid in structure and demands but I think for a Champion red-side thing, it would have to be a bit looser with rules.
Either way though, I think stacking a bunch of doms on teams should roll through content pretty easily, with the new damage buffs and all.
I would just suggest not being the first one to run up to a group and throw out an aoe immob.
