    i went with the fire epic, i'll just rely on buffs for support.

    i'm probably going musculature or spiritual since the nerve i have is mostly useless with this build and cardiac has no point with permadom and perma drain psyche.

    bam. easier than i thought it would be. i figure since roots cancels knockback, the secondary effect wont be a negative(actually a positive because it lets you add another damage proc).

    i came up with this one for the fire epic, but still havent decided if softcapping is worth losing that sweet sweet damage. also this one uses musculature instead of nerve, both are permadom without hasten but have it anyway. i might try making something with mace mastery as a happy medium since it gets a weaker debuff and weaker(imo) aoe attack but also a defense shield for softcapping s/l defense.

    Back when we got access to hero APPs I immediately went with fire on my plant/psi to maximize my aoe potential. now that we have harder, more rewarding content/ an endgame im torn between going for a softcap defense build and sleet or just stick with fireball and rain of fire. heres what i came up with to switch into, i already have most of this except psy scream and the ice epic. im only +1 with alpha atm but id like to earn t3 in all classes on this because it was one of my 1st toons. my main concern is if losing those two app attacks will significantly hurt my attack chain, its why i even included psy scream instead of spore burst for the cheap purple set.

  5. its not so bad. i play a cold defender and regulary buff more than my team, in fact i use heatloss as a timer for when to rebuff because i only buff when i have the endurance boost going or i will bottom my endurance out. for anything less than an av you can just drop sleet and alternate attacking through your buff targets.

    i personally prefer BAF for ease of buffing pressure since you dont need to keep buffs up for the whole thing since the escapee phase is all assault, but on lamda you only get a brief window to buff both teams before splitting up to collect weapons crates.

    when im feeling lazy i do use the league window set to show all, stretched out horizontally instead of the team window. it helps me pinpoint who needs frostwork more.
  6. i havent really been taking a record but over the initial week i did trials on my cold/dark defender and about 7-9 days of playing netted me all 5 slots with t3 or better and i started from only uncommon in alpha because i was inactive since new years. this toon also has an excess of about 20 uncommons(5 of each), 5 or so rares, and 2-3 very rares. I never converted empyrian merits so i have like 8 or 9 but i converted all my astrals to craft commons because i never received anything lower than uncommon. i died maybe 3 times total in all of the trial runs that week.

    this toon has sleet practically on auto cast(if it was possible) and i spam my only aoe, tenebrous tentacles, on almost every encounter, also i was contributing holds with my psi app dominate. i also buff frequently, both shields and frostwork, unless the team has alot of buffers already, in which case i at least buff the buffers and the damage sponge.

    recently i did a run with a partially io slotted elec/mental blaster with all his aoes and got my 1st common after doing a lambda where i died alot(3-5 times). i had lots of kills and used drain psyche every chance i got if you count that as a debuff.

    i think eventually i may start doing more on the blaster but if the conditions for better drops are found to be something he cant contribute then i may just move on to another character that can.

  8. you have 6 1.87% hp buffs and should switch assault for maneuvers to hold 1 more karma -kb.

    i have one of these with less purples/pvpios and 200+ more hp, i also have dark pit in mine because even with powerboost soul storm is like a 2 second hold after the animation ends because everyone has acrobatics.

    its a fun 1v1 toon but it suffers from kinda weak damage output, cold/sonic or cold/psi is probably a better combo for that purpose.

    i think i can agree with that.

    doesnt anyone else remember the few weeks immediately following the release of new IO sets, that the new stuff tends to drop more than pre-existing stuff? remember when all those new temp powers were released? there is probably some super secret code that exists to help "seed" the market and generate interest in the newest shinies. i have a feeling it was added after wings recipes fiasco around i9.

    of course i cant prove anything and my opinions are totally based off of live servers play.

    as much as i would like to have that become a widespread rumor, i dont think it actually matters. i got around 6-7 very rares and about 8 rares and 25+ uncommons over the 1st week of play on my cold defender. some runs i would toss only buffs for the puller tank and some i would go crazy and buff all 24 people and some pets... i think its still random, we were just lucky.

  12. if i havent done it by then i would do the mortimer cal sf, i have him unlocked on my cold defender but everyone seems to be doing baf or lambda.

    the real answer is it probably doesnt matter, if you built it right during the pre i19 era. the end reduction one would probably be the best answer if you want to just give blanket answers since alot of poor builds dont slot it much. i would need to see the actual builds or respec them into incorporating the small bonuses so they dont get wasted by the ed/dr caps.

    whether or not mac/con were the cause of any positive pvp changes is debatable but you wont find many others who made even remotely close to an effort to spread information to other players on what works and what doesnt. not to mention their efforts in building community..

    if the system never gets fixed im glad enough to have had people like them around showing the masses how to be better pvpers.

    and to the OP: i have so far swapped mu mastery for fire on my plant/psi doing direct ports for fireball->ball lightning and mu guardian for rain of fire and the shields are all the same. all its shown me is how underpowered ball lightning really was. rain of fire is a welcome addition though and with my build and slotting i can have it out just about permanently if i can manage the endurance cost. on teams, my attack chain is all AoEs. it truly is like a mix between tank/brute and blaster, but you definitely have to know what youre doing.

    one thing im afraid of is castle nerfing good things based on what skilled people with heavily IO'd builds can do with them. its what got us the stigma that domination 1.0 had as being weak unless you invested a ton of resources into them and everyone only using fire/psi.

    imo, its just like cigarettes. games are addictive on purpose, thats the whole business model of pay to play. unless a govt. entity steps in to force them into some kind of warning, there is no way any company is going to potentially lose sales because of a handful of people going overboard.

    personally, if i saw a game with a picture of a person before and after starting an mmo i'd probably have never touched the genre. generally, we are in the worst physical shape of all gaming demographics.

    gamestop is basically only good for finding used console games cheap(and even then there are better alternatives online). in this day and age, there is no reason to be patronizing them, especially when most games are cheaper online or in big box stores. i have no sympathy for people who go there and end up getting screwed because the alternatives are common knowledge.
