I plan on making an Emp/? most likely Psi -
I just skipped it on my Fire/Eng. Like others have said it can be useful but it's def not needed.
-
I started on Pinnacle but it slowly became a ghost town so I left for Freedom, Virtue, and Infinity.

Quote:I million times this! Water anything would be nice.I would love water control with a secondary like healing waters to go with it. I think that would be amazing and maybe a dark control.
The Time control idea does seem cool. Graphics wise i'd go with blurs (if thats possible) or something along the line of Grav, Kin, or the prestige sprint that looks like white circles. -
I run TFs for the xp/badge/fun. Merits are of little concern to me since I don't use them.

Quote:My freezing comment was about my IE freezing up on me when I was trying to write responses to Themess and shadow. I tried 3 or 4 times each was a long thought out post but after the last time of freezing I gave up.Well I guess I'm one of the two posters who quoted you and that you you responded to.
Hence I didn't make a response - well, not until you posted that we seemed to 'freeze up' on you. -
Eng/Fire (50) My first toon and first 50. She was a debt magnet but I enjoyed the ride.
Ice/Ice (50) Nice control & damage. She plays like how I'd like my Doms to.
Psy/Men (50) She was fun until the higher levels.
Fire/EM (22) So far she's a beast and I'm loving it.
Sonic/Em (22) Not as good as my Fire/EM but still fun so far.
I have plans on making an Elc/Elc , Arc/?, Rad/? and probably DP/? when I16 comes. -
My EU counterpart did reg on these forums before I did though I have been playing this game since 04 and he/she joined the forum in 05. If they go by reg date I'd have no problem with it. Though they have 0.0 posts and if they haven't posted at all I doubt they ever will.

I don't care if you have an . or an - at the end of your name. I don't care if you're not a creative person. I don't care if you didn't look for another name. To me it shows that someone got there before you did. Don't worry about what others may think of your . or -. If your're fine with it that's all that matters. Personally I wouldn't put a . or - at the end of any name cause I don't like the way it looks. But if you want to do it then go for it.

LoL I had responded to two posters who quoted me but after 3 attempts and having them all freeze on me I'm not going to try again. I'm just glad that our Dev team are so open minded and welcome all.

Quote:Sexuality has nothing to do with the game just like Manti and Sisters wedding and all the other heterosexual relationships in the canon. Then why even bother identifying the SG as a gay one? Seems rather pointless to me and only serves to make yourselves stand out. Attention seeking for want of a better phrase.
Folks, it's a computer game. Just what does a persons sexuality have to do with beating up bad guys, hmm?
Gay SGs are not about attention seeking they are about playing with other GLBT people and yes even straight people. Like you said it's a game relax let people have their gay SGs. Does it bother you that much? Is it ruining your fun? If you feel that they are attention seekers then ignore or petition them. -
Quote:"Heterosexuality is showcased in film, tv, music, literature, and video games" is pretty self explanatory. Everything you mentioned is a drop in the bucket.what exactly do you mean by "Heterosexuality is showcased in film, tv, music, literature, and video games" Im pretty sure Homosexuality gets its fair share of screen time as well of the top of my head there's Broke back mountain that was a pretty big film, There's Torch wood in the UK lead character in that was bisexual and was up till the last episode in a same sex relationship, there was some TV show a while back Queer as folk possibly never watched it my self (it didn't involve scifi or horror so was of zero interest to me), there was Kinky boots not a huge film but still it got a cinema release, Oh and how could i forget the rocky horror picture show, In gaming I'm not so sure i normally play FPS but i believe same sex relation ships were possible in the Simms.
So its out there yes Its probably not got as big a share of the pie but then most mainstream entertainment is going to go after its biggest market if its biggest market is strait 20 somethings things are going to be slanted towards them.
But that's not discrimination that's marketing and economics which are entirely different forms of EVIL
As to your question i have no issue with the OPs quest to find a gay SG other than i believed that creating a gay only SG was a bad idea as he would be further segregation him self from the player base i instead suggested he create a SG that was accepting of all regardless of weather they be gay or strait
For the second part of your post I refer you to Chan_ post which sums up why a person would want to join a gay sg.
Quote:This whole "but straight people..." argument is tiresome. Straight people have no reason to want to specifically search out and talk to other straight people as that criteria alone does not help them relate to that individual any more than searching out people who are right handed.
Gay people who search out other gay people can, in many cases, relate better than with other individuals. Whether it be through similar life experiences or current events affecting gay people, it's just a nice way to find someone who might understand you a little more than some random stranger (although this is definitely not always the case). Doing this by making a gay SG is by no means intended to shun poor straight people (such an oppressed minority, right?) and it shouldn't be taken that way. -
-
Quote:I can't speak for the OP you'd have to ask him/her. You don't need to look for a heterosexual SG cause heterosexuals aren't an oppressed minority. Heterosexuality is showcased in film, tv, music, literature, and video games. As I said several times oppressed miniorities tend to group together for support and to share experiences even within an MMO.But why dose he have to find other gay players to play with? It may just be me but when i start a new MMO i don't head of to find heterosexual players to play with if anything a ilook for players that i share interests with and that i get along with.
surely playing with some one you get along with is more important than what that some ones sexual orientation is.
The real question is why does it bother you that the OP would want to find a gay SG? If it doesn't bother you then I don't see where the issue is. -
Quote:Please don't put words in my mouth. I never said anything about a "pro-hetero/anti-gay stance in the game in-general." The post was made to show how many heterosexual relationship are ingame. I'm also not asking for a gay wedding just cause there was a straight one.....First off: heterosexuality isn't flaunted. It exists - but that isn't flaunting it, in much the same way that a perceived lack of non-heterosexual relationships isn't neccesarily persecution or prejudice.
Second: I'd maybe agree on Manti and Sis P's wedding if it had been done just as a plot development and hadn't been because of the RL marriage.
As it was, it was effectively an ingame celebration of a major devs wedding. So the dev is male and has a heterosexual relationship and so married a woman and that was mirrored in-game.
It strikes me as a shame that you seem to consider that as some sign of a pro-hetero/anti-gay stance in the game in-general.
Wouldn't it have been somehow worse if the devs felt that they needed to do a gay or lesbian marriage (or civil partnership or whatever it may be called in your locality) just to maintain some sort of balance? Positive discrimination is just as bad as negative in many ways, it assumes that the minority needs extra help just to be on an even footing...
Now if any of the devs are homosexual and do get married (or equivalent) then I've no problem with that being celebrated in game. To be honest I'd prefer any ingame celebrations for any form of relationship to only happen for the longer-term major devs (we don't want an in-game event everytime one of the 60 or so devs gets a new partner or splits up...).
The big thing there was that a major dev found a partner that they want to share their life with and made a public legal/moral commitment to them (i.e. got married) - the dev's sexuality matters not one bit.
Finally: players saying "Wife/Husband agro" is very different to all the other examples you give (which were dev-created/actioned). And the exact example you give is somewhat petty...
If my wife calls me I may say "brb a min - Mrs JD called". This isn't actually me trying to assert that I'm a married male - it's just me stating why I'm going afk a minute.
If you're being given aggro by your partner and need to log, should you just say "got to go - getting aggro" or "significant other aggro" or maybe "aggro from a person or persons that shall remain unidentified to you"??
As I say - I think that's a poor example that you used. It's a different case if someone is making a big deal of dropping in references to their partner or their relationship every 5 minutes just for the sake of it... But that's annoying whatever the sex/sexuality of the player and partner.
And as an aside: In conversation, I've known gay friends refer to their partner as 'the wife'. As have straight/bi friends referring to a female partner who, amazingly, may not actually be a legal wife.
Someone saying they're getting aggro from the wife doesn't mean that they actually have a wife or are even a male heterosexual in a marriage.
As for the Husband/Wife agro comment in most countires men/women can't have wife/husband that includes the US (barring some states). So it wasen't that big a leap to assume that these were heterosexual relationships (Though I'm sure some weren't) Again the husband/wife agro comment does not bother me.
The OP asked for a gay SG which was a totally harmless request. A gay SG is just the same as an all female SG or a magic themed SG. This issue is only a big deal if YOU make it a big deal. A persons sexuality is a none issue to me but most of the world makes it an issue. Hence homosexuals feel the need to group together for support and to share experiences (Even within an MMO which is highly social). A gay SG isn't about saying HEY LOOK AT ME IM GAY! It's about playing with other gay players which can be hard to find in the gameing world.
I hope the OP does find a gay SG in which they can have lots of fun with. -

Quote:Sadly not everyone is as strong as you nor have they intergrated just fine. I'm glad you're doing A OK but it's good that people are fighting the good fight for you.Oddly enough, I've intergrated fine. I am who I am and what I am is what I am, but that will never get in the way that I'm no different than others whom I'll meet on my journey through life. Anyone who has met me will tell you that fun and friendship comes first. If you want to know my sexuality/lifestyle then that's fine, but it's hardly an issue. If you want to decide not to like me because of it then that's their loss.
You say that you can't fight injustice without being seen/heard... but remember, there's two sides to the coin. The only thing I refuse to do is look at both sides.
Welcome to the European Lounge.
Thanks for the welcome. -
Quote:Sure thing! I'm not a fan of injustice and yes I have been persecuted in my life. I can't think of one persecuted miniority that has over come injusitce by simply intergrating into the main stream. One can not fight injustice without being seen/heard. In a perfect world in which everyone was treated equally we would have no need for specialized groups but we don't live in that world. So people feel the need to group together and share their experiences.Check back, I've answered your questions. Relationships in the story are just a part of it. As for joining a LGBT SG? If someone wants to do so, then be my guest.
My bugbear with it is then hearing how some members are then persecuted and segregated for being what they are, but at the base of it all, they invite it by not intergrating with everyone else regardless of sex, sexuality, colour, creed or other possible 'difference'.
So, would you answer my questions?
If gay SGs are harassed they have many tools in which to report the offenders. If you don't lilke their ******** I suggest not reading their posts. -
-
I highly doubt any gay SG would not allow a straight person to join and if they do then it's wrong. What you fail to understand is that persecuted minorities like to flock together for support and to share personal experiences(Even within an MMO). There is no need for straight only SG because the vast majority of films, tv, books, songs, and video games represent heterosexuality. Heterosexuals have many outlest to show off their straightness . You don't see it cause to you it's the norm.

Which is silly, because my tongue isn't that small. -
