  1. Other players should never get upset if you're only KBing one foe. That's really not causing a problem, especially if you're the one chasing it down.

Now, I can see their point with AoE KB, and that causes my PB a fair amount of grief. I always have to wait until foes are 'locked down' before using Solar Flare or Luminous Detonation, or I have to go the edge of a mob (and usually getting about half as many in my blast radius as normal)

Soloing, I usually love KB. It's great defense (mobs that are on their butts some distance away are not attacking you). I say usually because there's some instance where it's a little annoying. For example, if I'm 'wall clearing' in Cimerrora, I have to be careful not to knock too many of the Romans off the edge - they take forever to climb back up.

On teams though, KB causes more grief and annoyance than it give benefits...and that's sad, because there's not much more Mighty than sending foes flying. There ought to be someway to make such a cool graphic more welcome on teams. I dunno, maybe if they were knocked into a wall, there was some damage bonus... *shrug* anything really, besides a Tanker hollering, "Less Scattering, dammit!* haha
  2. Group Energy Flight - the only PB power I've *never* taken
  3. The coolest bug I wish they'd make official is when you're playing a PB and you exit a mission while still in Light Form. Normally, Light Form is just a glowing ball of light (blech), but if you exit a mission while in it, you'll see the hazy luminous outline of your character (a human form made of light) complete with all the animations of running and fighting... Soooo much cooler than looking like a giant hydrogen atom
  4. On large teams that are moving along at a good pace, I have the hardest time keeping Fury high on my Brute - I feel almost like a...Tanker without the extra HPs and Defense
  5. I don't think we'll get new ATs either, but I do wonder about AT naming. I sorta suspect there might be a change in at least some AT descriptors upon sideswitching.

Likely candidates: Dominators and Corruptors, possibly masterminds and defenders.

Go back to the hole of a thread you made, Semper.

I have an all-human PB at 30 and I love it. :3 I think I'm gonna drop Proton Scatter, though. It seems fairly underwhelming compared to my other attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not bad when on teams, and it's doesn't cause KB, unlike Detonation, meaning teams will love you more for using it. For a Human Only there's plenty of room - I have both ranged AoEs, fully slotted
  7. Well, the idea is nifty enough...

I like the idea of PvP using standard mission maps and one character has a goal (save/kidnap, diffuse/set bomb, etc...) and the other player tries to stop them from succeeding. Perhaps all set on a timer, as that's really the only way for the 'stopper' to eventually win. I suppose there'd have to be minions antagonistic to both sides to make it more fairer...

This sort of PvP I'd probably really love, instead of simply trying to beat each other's brains out.

Have no clue on how such could be implemented, but the idea certainly has merit
  8. I hear you. I love the Human PBs Wild Light Powers looks and playstyle, but I just do not like the Forms. Yes, they are useful and powerful...but I don't like them. Never have and probably never will.

My main is a human-only PB...lvl 50 and a blast to play. A Human Only can be pretty difficult to play from to late 20s to lvl 38, when you get Light Form. That's when mezzing and psi attacks really stark kicking in, and you really don't have a defense against them other that Breakfrees and Oranges, and teaming of course, esp. with 'trollers.

At 50 though, I carry about 5 BFs as a rule (using the 3-1 rule if I dip below 5), and I can solo Carnie, Malta and Raluruu missions without using Light Form more often than not... These missions are literally no more difficult for me than for my lvl50 Scrapper.
  9. Thanks. Health is what I went with, and those buffs sure looks pretty up there in the Power Stats window, all Perma-like.

A part of me wishes I'd sold it. I'm purpling out the toon that has it, and the 70+ millions I saw this thing going for would have guaranteed another Purple. However, I figured there's a reason this things goes for this much...
  10. I was wondering about this proc myself...

I got one ready to slot but am torn. Most build suggestions I've seen have it slotted in Health, and if that's best I can go with that...

Here's what I'm wondering though: I already have 2 other Numina's slotted in my PB's 'Reform Essense' self-heal power (which I use alot), and will probably get slot more when they become available. I'm tempted to slot this one there too because:
    1) Reform Essense recharges every 30 seconds and since this proc last 120 seconds, during battles it seems like it'll never really run out, since I'll be firing Reform Essense more than once every two minutes. Sure it won't take effect when I'm not fighting, but then...I'm not fighting so who cares?
    2) I'd really like for it to stack with the other Numina's already there and get those IO bonuses

    How viable does that sound?

On the other hand, I could put it in Health and get the effect all the time, and eventually get the Heal Numina in health is well for that xtra 12% regen...

What should i do - Slot in Reform Essense or Health?
  11. Hmmm... well my main is a PB so I'm quite familiar with KB

for Soloing, your idea is good, but teams tend to hate KB of any kind, and your idea will actually make it likely for more Spawns to get KBd than currently do - that's sure to increase our popularity with the Tankers haha

So, unless they make KB more beneficial and welcome (perhaps increase damage if KBd into walls, etc), then I don't want a mechanic that will upset my teammates even more than the grief I already bring

That's reasonable. As long as a toon can't go from 1-50 via radio missions in one zone, although who really cares since you can do it via AE (well I care haha). You're idea is fine, but I think limiting it to 50s will be easier codewise - one less counter to keep up with

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or it could be harder, because it's one more restriction to place on the system? (standard code rant, etc)

I'm not against limiting the idea to just 50's, but I would rather it used all the current Radio / Newspaper mission set up. Go to any zone where the Radio / Newspaper is available, and you can run three - five missions, fill up your Detective / Broker bar, and they give a special mission with an AV / EB. All of the missions could be standard newspaper missions that are level appropriate, with the Detective / Broker mission being something related to the zone (if possible).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh I think your idea is splendid, and if the devs were to implement anything, I prefer it over my simpler idea...or maybe yours is actually simpler to code for - in that case even better haha
  13. [ QUOTE ]
To be honest why restrict this to 50s? Why not make it so that everyone could do a few missions in every zone? Hear me out before going for the pitchforks:

We already have a system in place for the local police contacts. Get the scanner freq, do three missions then get a Safeguard right? Ok, same principle but usable for higher-level toons. You go to a zone where the highest-level mob on the street is beneath your notice and the scanner gives you up to thre missions you can do in that zone. After that you HAVE to go to another zone. You can flip back and forth if you like but limit it to three before you have to move on.

IMHO this will encourage heroes to move around somewhat rather than camping in the highest zones. Of course Hunt X missions wuld be excluded from the list to keep highbies from hunting for the same targets as lowbies or having to go 3 zones away to find an appropriate mob but other than that no major changes are needed.

After 'Going Rogue', I want the next expansion to be 'Super Sims'...

Facetiousness aside, I'd love an 'apartment', and I do wish there was *surprises* and interesting things to randomly happen when just wondering around and exploring. Like have an NPC follow you, paparazzi-like, or save someone from non-combat threats...

But such will require serious engine upgrades

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ooooh! That just reminded me of an old PnP Champions character I made a long time ago. He was called the Night Writer and he was a reported who specialized on super powered reporting. He used a power suit that gave him the flight speed to keep up with heroes and gave him some protection from stray bullets and energy blasts. He never got involved in the fights though. He just took pictures and notes and reported on the action.

This could be doable in game. Simply add a new enemy group called, The Superazzi. Give them defenses and everything but only give them a camera as their weapon. They shoot with it, but it doesn't really do anything. Have these enemies appear as ambushes randomly when accepting missions from different sources. Have them chase the heroes across zones and land just to take a couple of pictures. Let them despawn just like regular ambushes that are left unattended. Otherwise just let them keep shooting their pictures.

That would be fun to see and could work within the engine capabilities.

    That's...friggin Awesome Dude

Okay, we can't attack them - but can I at least smack their cars with an umbrella?
  15. Oh yeah... Kheld Early levels are like Holy Crap Awesomeness!

Be prepared for some difficult spells here and there but keep going - by the 40's both types really Rock the World.

Okie... green's cool! I like green... and if we're just talking about which colors I'd select for my Kheldian powers if we were given the choice, I think my WS would have to go with deep reds, like Pain Domination, while my PB would go with florescent greens, or a weird mixture of golds and pinks!

    Ahhh... a Partidge Family PB...Cool

    Too much speculation... head'splodes!!!!!! *POOF-BOOM!*

    Haha...how so...?

Seriously, if we get anything, by far the most likely is a simple color change of powers. Is it that hard to say I'm gonna go 'Green' or something...

Guys.... one of my first sentences was *IF IT TURNS OUT TO BE TRUE*

    [/ QUOTE ]

My problem is that there's not enough on which to base a speculation. "If it turns out to be true", yes, but if WHAT turns out to be true? Full Customization? Color Customization? Your powers change colors when you switch sides? Ability to choose animations, or just what's attached to you, like in Weapon Customization?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sure there is - I gave *Three* different speculations based on *Three* possible degrees of customization we might receive (Colors, Auras/Bubbles, Animations)

I don't see why it's so difficult do say something like, "if we can change our power's colors, my PB's Luminous Blast will become Red."

Maybe I'm making it sound more complex than I'm thinking...

    [ QUOTE ]

And this does nothing about the appearance of the Kheldians themselves. Would Power Customization allow you to change the way your forms look? Or would it only allow you to change the way their powers look?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know what options they're gonna give us. I just know that Power Customization is being hinted at. However, I think changes involving colorization and/or existing animations are much more likely than creating new forms or new animations, thus that's what I used in my examples.

If they do give Khelds optional forms, then I will look thru them, find the one I think looks the coolest and best fit my concept, then change it. But that's difficult to speculate on. Something better would be if we could change the colors of the forms, and if we can, would you? And to what color?

Hey, most everything we post assumes an 'if' until we see it live
  20. Guys.... one of my first sentences was *IF IT TURNS OUT TO BE TRUE*

That means I'm quite aware that it's all speculation and might not happen. I was just inviting whoever wanted to speculate on the speculations...errmmm...if this was true
  21. There's some speculation that 'Going Rogue' will allow power customization to some extent, prompted by the vid with the lovely evil lady's (Desdemona?) fireball changing from Blue to Red.

It it turns out to be true, and is available to Khelds, to what extent will you customize your Khelds 'look'?

For me, if we're only allowed to change colors (which is the most likely by far), then I'll probably change the 'white light' of my PBs powers to a Goldish Coloration. Gold's more valuable than Silver, Baby...

If we're able to change a bit more than colors, say, Auras, Bubbles, etc., then I'll remove the Bubbles from my shields, keeping only the Aura effects.

Finally, if we can pick our Animation (never gonna happen )...Hmmm. I dunno, maybe apply SS's Knockout Blow animation to Incadescent Strike, and maybe a Handclap for Pulsar, or maybe even Solar Flare...

Anybody else given this any thought?
  22. For a Human Only form, get a -KB IO as soon as possible. You spend too much time in Melee range to not have it, and it makes a world of difference. I can't believe I went so long without one haha...
  23. Casual Players with limited time miss out on a quite a bit where TFs are concerned...

I've only done one of the Freedom Phalanx TFs (Citadel), One Kattie Hannon, and the ITF twice...that's it. No other TFs. Unable to do anymore. And I have 3 50s haha

I don't have a problem with TFs requiring teams, but I do wish TFs had a 'Come and Go' mechanic. That way I might be able to join and enjoy the first parts of TFs and when I have to quit, the Star can invite a newcomer to replace me...or maybe I could be the replacment member for the latter parts of a TF... Anything's better than what I currently get to experience - *zero* TFs

Maybe the TF only dissolves if the Initiater/Star ends it. During the TF the star can invite new Members all the time, and each new mish scales to the number of teammates (to the minimum). I dunno how rewards could be scaled in such scenarios, but certainly some vialble solution could be done.
  24. Well, on my Main, I'm thiiiis close to finishing the last Story Arc available for 45s-50s (a mish or 3 left on the Harvey Maylor Carnie arc). Once complete, I won't have any more arcs of my own to do until I 'Go Rogue'.

The problem is I'm also trying to 'Purple Out' my main. I plan on doing some past missions that I missed via Oroborous but really I'd prefer to fight lvl50+ Critters.

Furthermore, I play odd hours, usually short intervals, so I'm limited on the number of TFs and Raids I can do. A typical day is I'll just do a quick mish or two in 30 minutes and save teaming for weekends when I can play longer.

So, those times when I won't be on long enough to do a TF or join a team for longer than a mish or two, it seems I'm gonna essentially be limited to:
    1) Radio Missions in Peregrine
    2) Repeatable missions in RWZ, Cimmerora, or Shadow Shard

And that's fine. I team often enough, but since I do solo *alot*, for various reasons I'd simply really like to have my missions begin somewhere besides the above 4 zones.

That's why I made this thread. I realize my original idea doesn't seem very popular but I don't see why a slight change should bother anyone. So, simple new idea:

Why not, once a Character dings 50, she can do Radio/Newspaper missions from *any* zone. None of this 'things here are beneath your notices anymore'. You've transcended levels in a sense and the whole city is your concern.

This is no game breaker, but really, I'd like to be in Atlas (or Steel or Kings) on my main, fire up the scanner, and go do a quick mish or two 'in those zones'. Contacts already send Highlevel toons to these 'low level' zones on occasion so it's not like there isn't a precedent of doing highlevel missions in lowerlevel areas.

So how bout it Devs, make Radio/Newspaper missions for lvl50s work in every zone...simple as that.

I can see not allowing this for lower levels - to 'force' them to travel the whole city as the progress (a good thing), but 50s have transcended that - the world is their oyster, not a particular zone.

Finally, no suggestions that it's time to roll an Alt. Done that. Got 2 other 50s and a 48. I just enjoy my Main (a PB), love her playstyle and want to keep player her, in addition to advancing her a bit via Rare IOs
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Eh, explanation of powers and effects is really up to the individual player. I just tossed that [holding back] to add some flavor.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree, but I've just seen this 'explanation' quite a few times in articles or posts about Tanks. Didn't like it then either :P

Not really related: I've read many of JB's posts, and while he'll never be a head of Public Relations, I can see his point on some levels, because to be honest, I just don't like the concept of a Tank herding, in a SuperHero MMO or any other.

You yell or smack at enemies, which gets them to ignore the really dangerous fire throwers and mind controllers of the party, so they'll bunch around you instead.... Okay. I know it's a computer game, and the NPCs are just computer code, but they're supposed to represent something that has a semblance of a brain. Only cows would let themselves be herded like that.

Of course, with current game mechanics, Tanks are very tactically beneficial, and because of that there will be players that play them, but herding, while obviously useful, is just a conceptually boneheaded thing. I'll yield that's *my* opinion, but it is my opinion

I've had a Tank say, 'I'm herding them to this corner.' A few moments later he's running by me, leading a trail of baddies. They'll run right by me, ignoring me. It's like watching a parade.

In a superhero game, 'locking down' mobs should be done via Super Powers. Mind Controls, trapping in Ice and Earth, Force Fields (the forte of controllers, defenders, and similiar ATs). Yelling and taunting being a power that results in something similar is just weird if you think about it... "Hey, your Mama's boyfriend is a Troll, now come to me and ignore that Blaster who can burn you to a crisp in 2 seconds!"

In any case, it's done. Tanks are here to stay. It's not a game breaker for me, and I actually think my Inv/SS is pretty fun. There's a certain thrill in standing in the middle of a gazillion mobs and being able to take it all. That's cool. But Taunting, Grouping, and Herding - I see the usefullness, but not the coolness...
