I really think for completeness there should be Longbow EATs on blueside
Longbow is generic but not any more so than SoAs. The branching powerset structure could be identical, just swap in a few 'Longbowish' powers. Sure you'd have your default Longbow costume, but it's got a decent enough variety, from the NPCs I've seen - again, as much as Arachnos does. And once you hit level 10 you need never wear it again, but I bet many still would...
Vanguard..??? Maybe. In a sense, regular ATs already become Vanguard though. We can join up, get the armor, etc. -

Not sure what's worse - willingly vending expensive recipes and then later realizing what they're worth, or accidentally vending them when you're fully aware of their value.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, and then just clumsiness... I've accidently given a recipe worth several million to another toon by dragging and dropping to soon...
[other toon]: Thank You!!!
[Me]: Uhm...did I just *accidently* give you a Performance Shifter...
(long pause)
[other toon]: No...

Want to pop on your favorite Halloween costume for Trick or Treating....To the Closet again.

Would monsters come out our closet during this? Oh the childhood memories... -
Just humorous musing...
I've only started getting interested in the market recently, but I've learned pretty quickly and I think I do pretty well now. Before that, I'd leveled up 2 50s using nothing but SOs...and just selling every*single*recipe*and*salvage I came across to some contact or other.
Now that I'm trying to purple a 50 and realize the prices they go far, I recall actually selling a few of those precious things to some no-name contact (along with Numina's, Miracles...) for just a few thousand each...sigh
Waaaahhhhhhh! -
Haha, the only power that might be considered a finishing move on my PB is measly one-slotted 'Gleaming Bolt'. If a foe had just a tiny sliver of health left, this is nearly always used to finish them off. It only does about 40 pts of damage, but as I said, it's when there's just a sliver left. It's almost like those cartoons where someone has been beat to near death and then someone just gently blows them over for the finish.

Yes, this isn't a tank-bashing thread. Most tanks I've teamed with have been good experiences and a team can really survive and thrive with one. As always, it's the bossy control freaks that are the problem. Luckily they're fairly rare
-
Heh, seems like it's alot of Tankers that provide the bad experiences...
Was on a Hero PuG mission - map was that instanced 'Pipes and Scaffolding' stuff from Cape Diablo. Our Tanker kept telling us to wait at certain positions, but not so he could just 'herd'? Oh no, he also had Stealth and he'd 'scout' to get the 'enemy layout' of an area before herding. We'd all be sitting on some stairwell or something doing 'Zzzzzz' or "HmmmHmmm" emotes. Finally he'd say something like, "I'm herding a group to the 2nd tower. That's your checkpoint. Everyone move now!"
Once one player dared to engage a foe before 'Tanker approval'. Tanker belittled him: 'Son, that's the kind of mistake a complete amateur would make. You have to follow the plan.'
I think this guy was a former marine, perhaps...
I and a couple others started openly making fun of him, using military terms and jokes. 10 minutes later he quits and we start having fun again... -
My Level 50 PB, Socorro Soledad on Virtue. I don't stay away from her for long. I'll be glad when 'Going Rogue' gets here because she's long since played out all available contact arcs (and she will 'go rogue', if allowed - the Rogue Isles need 'cleansing'). Now I just play other people's missions or Radio or Repeatables, but that's okay because she's that enjoyable. I wish I had longer periods of playtime so I could have her complete every TF... Oh well, maybe someday...
I've got all non-TF related Accolades for her, and I'm purpling her out now, which is sorta grindy, but not really, since I almost never do farms. Just normal missions and watch the drops.
From the beginning she's been a dark-haired hispanic female, but I've changed 'color schemes' every couple months, with all 5 costumes basically have the same colors, even if they're radically different. -
Sometimes Khelds just seem like powerhouses on large teams. Was just casually soloing recently when I got a tell, 'Hey, can you please help with an AV?'. Now usually such tells means a team needs more DPS, and they're usually looking for a Scrapper/Blaster/DPSer, but I was the one that got the tell, so, my curiosity perked, I accepted.
Entered mish and immediatly got teleported to Team, where they were fighting Dominatrix ( I think that's her name). I rush in and start waylaying. In a couple of minutes she's gone from full health to dead. The team's thanking me profusely and thru more chatting I find they've been fighting her 30+ minutes.
Now, I know my damage was just that extra straw needed to overcome the AVs regen, but even so, for one extra teammate to make an AV fall in a few minutes whereas before they coudn't budge her...well, I felt powerful!
They asked me to help continue. We're decimating all the mobs really quickly, then we find Marauder and down him in no time... and halfway thru that fight the Tanker left, I guess to round up other mobs for himself, leaving me to as the primary aggro receiver from Marauder (and I'm human only haha). I stood toe-to-toe and we downed him.
Yep, Khelds = Super-Uber -

IMO, you should be able to play *any* AT, even Tri-form Khelds, without using binds or macros and be effective. Binds and Macros, at most, should be a Quality of Life type of thing. Like IOs - they make things easier, but require more work to setup and are never required.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was the one who said their practically required. I was playing my WS without then initially. And then I found out that playing a tri-form WS without using binds and macros makes an already hard character even harder. I can easily imagine that most of the people who come here claiming kelds suck tried to play a multi-form keld without using binds/macros.
I take it then that you don't like masterminds then? To be a skilled mastermind you do have to use binds and macros.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not totally against binds - I have my Tab key bound to find Qs, Vs, Cysts, and Sappers before other critters, but I do strongly feel that any game utility that you have to use to be effective *and* where you have to go outside the game's enviroment to figure how to use it (ie. search internet for bind lists) and the only way you can find out about such things is word of mouth, unguided searching, etc,...well that is *NOT* good design.
*shrug* I've never played a Mastermind past lvl 15. I didn't have any binds and it wasn't too bad. If the higher levels do 'Require' binds, then I probably will never play a Mastermind to high levels.
If Binds are required, then they should be part of the game's general engine, explained with ingame help file, and easily accesable thru menus.
Consider the following:
/bind numpad0 "powexec_auto Dark Blast$$powexec_name Moonbeam"
This is a relatively simple bind, but how would anyone ever even know about it, much less how to code it, unless they were guided to it or stumbled across it. Such should not be required... I'm not arguing wether it is or not - only that it shouldn't be. -
[ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't be surprised if going rogue were limited by character level the same way a level pact is. Sure, some old players might be miffed they can't take their level 50's to the opposite side to do whatever, but maybe NC thinks they can sell some more character slots or even accounts to people who think they'd like to play a blueside brute or redside tank. If switching sides is a one time deal, similar to how EQ2 was originally (not sure if it's changed since launch) then they don't have to worry about the markets or what to do with inf switching nearly as much.
I think Flux Vector has a point.

I suspect lvl 50 will be some sort of cutoff point, but I hope not... -

one thing you should learn is key binds and macros they helped me a lot with my warshade the key binds are good for switching forms on the fly

Good? Try required! At the very least you need to have tray switching bound close at hand. preferably bound so it switches trays as you transform.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmmm...I'm prefer human only so it's never been an issue for me, but binds and macros (which require you go searching for esoteric code snippits) being *required* to play an indicates something's not quite right.
Why is binding required for tray switching? I do have a tri-former on a 2nd build. All Nova and Dwarf powers (10 in all) are on Tray 1, with the next two trays containing all the rest of the commonly used stuff. Things I use rarely and/or never in a fight (oro. portal, mission or Pocket D ports...) I keep in the 4th or 5th tray. Slide tray, click power, then slide back. Simple. Why are binds so needed?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's also easier then hitting let's say numpad Enter to ransform to nova form, then having to hit ] to switch power tray to the one with your nova attacks. You can play a tri or bi form keld without binds and macros, but to be truly great at on the fly role switching you should use binds and macros.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can accept binds making it *easier*, but the poster I responded to said *required*, and he's not the first Kheldian player I've heard say that. Now that usage may be a bit of hyperbole, or maybe some Kheld players really think you must have binds to be truly effective.

Well, it's designed as an anti-Flight power, so the downward smash makes sense when you look at air to air combat.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have zero issues with that attack animation itself, rather, what happens to the foes who are hit by it. Downward smashes should not send foes UP! -
I'm curious about those awards that 'exemplary, never-went-rogue' Heroes and Villains will get. How can you get an award for 'never going rogue' unless there's a point where you can't switch. I've read some hints that it's at lvl 50 that you get these awards.
My lvl 50 PB (who I just love to play) will probably (and then switch back later). Falling and Redemption. However, if she auto-gets those 'Uber Hero' rewards because she's already 50 *and* if switching will make me lose those forever, then I may rethink it... -

If you ask me, it's due for a nerf bat. AS is better than a lot of tier 2 and 3 primary set attacks, and that's just plain broken. Compare it to any other pool attack; it's better than them all by a wide margin.

It is probably a bit too good. Also I personally don't love the animation of the target - Knockup with a 1.25 Flip...from an overhead *Downward* twofisted smash... -

I needed an uplifting break from work - just what the doctor prescribed. Thanks, OP -

...The only AOE kb powers I can think of are Thunder Clap and Hand Clap, which both have situational use. It would be an outright buff to make either of those powers KD, and neither of them is in a set that remotely needs a buff.
[/ QUOTE ]
My PB's Solar Flare power has irritated a tanker or two. Basically a Footstomp clone with cooler visuals, but does KB instead of KD. It's a power that most PBs use...alot. Yes, I can position myself on the edge of a mob, preferably on the opposite side of a wall, or wait for 'Lockdown'. Another tactic I do alot is wait for another teammate or two to do their AoEs before doing mine - people don't mind KB as much when the flying foes are dead.
It would be sorta cool if there was a way to 'change at will' KB into KD, though... -
It's mainly tanks and other melee types that complain about KB. Here's a solution I think would satisfy 90% of scenarios (not sure how difficult it'd be to implement though).
1) If Mobs are Aggroed on you (or not yet aggroed), then the effect is Knock Back.
2) If they're Aggroed on another player, then the effect is Knock Down.
That way, if you're soloing or mobs are beating down on you, then your mitigating KB comes in handy. But if they're on someone else, then you can give your teammate a breather by knocking the foes down, but not away so they have to chase them.
You'd have to exercise some discretion (such as letting the Tank get aggro first), but that's pretty much standard team play already -
Epic ATs should give Khelds an outright Recharge Bonus instead a measly slow-resist bonus. I think 5% per Epic is good. Would 8-kheld teams with a 35% recharge bonus be overpowered...? Maybe, but certainly not any more that certain 8-Controller or 8-Defender Teams that utterly destroy content...and as always, those situations wouldn't happen daily.
Why was Slow Resist selected for the Epic bonus anyway? What was the brain storm behind that? Was is it because Nictus (the main Kheld Enemy) slows combatants, and Khelds banded together were supposed to better fight them?
In any case, it's not enough; certainly not enough to make one salivate when teaming with another Epic. -
Thanks for the answers guys - that all makes sense

...You know what they say, "be careful what you wish for". I only say that because truthfully, NOT having a particular "role" on a team, allows me the freedom to take whatever role I want whenever I want it if I see the team requires it. This freedom, I've never found in any of the other AT's. I'd gladly have that than a more specialized "role" only a Kheldian can do, because lets face it, all the "roles" are already taken anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hear you, and I do enjoy more or less doing whatever I want when on teams. I take Alpha Strikes, and also Attack AoE from Range, all in Human Form, in the same mish
Roles??? I don't want my Kheld to have roles. I want her to transcend roles, to be the best at all roles, all at the same time...Mwahahaha... *Sheesh* is that asking too much? -
I only said *slightly* underpar, LX
I have no trouble at all soloing with mine (I even handle most EBs fairly easily), but I'm not going to say they solo as well as my scrappers and brutes (but they're not as far off as some might think either...). But we know that Khelds are designed to be on teams for maximum effectiveness.
And yes, I've had people compliment my PB as well, but I've just as often had the feeling of being 'tolerated' just so the team can be maxed out. I've seen teams specifically looking for Tankers, Controllers etc - I've never, ever seen a team looking for Kheldians. I simply wish there was a reason they would... Not a big wish, but it's there. -
Just a question: why are people buying Common IO recipes in the market, at pretty much the same price you can sell them far? Not that I mind - I'm selling them like hotcakes to close in on my 2000 sold items badge, but I'm curious as to why they're so eagerly bought to begin with, and what I might be missing.
-
I actually enjoyed leveling my Kheld - took me about 3 months to get a PB to 50. However, you do have some valid issues which I will give my 2 cents worth on
1) Disagree with you on Qs and Vs. They're easily handled these days, and their presence adds a bit of 'specialness' to PBs. Cysts need to go from regular missions. End of story. They should only appear in special arcs (Kheldian arcs, and ITF, etc).
2) even though I don't like the forms, I agree with you. I don't see why the forms are treated as seperate characters anyway. To save on slot starvation, I think similiar powers should share slots between the forms.
Example: Luminous Detonation and Bright Nova Detonation. If you have it 5-slotted in Human form, then it's also 5-slotted in Nova.
Gleaming Bolt = Bright Nova Bolt
Gleaming Blast = Bright Nova Blast
and so on...
Furthermore, you should have to select the specific power to have it in a form. There's no reason Nova should start with 4 ranged attacks right off the bat. You want Bright Nova Scatter, then you better pick and slot Proton Scatter.
Nearly every form power has a corresponding Human power, save Teleport (and maybe it wouldn't be so bad if Human had a teleport power, completing the matches)
The powers would behave exactly as they do currently when in a particular form. This would certainly help with slotting - it's even make the forms more tempting for me, because I wouldn't have to forego so much Human Slotting.
3) Agreed. Not being able to access Teleport and Fly poos is a bit silly. So what if you accidently pick a redundant power. Be careful - and also that's what respecs are for.
4) Agreed to an extent - it wouldn't really hurt anything. But you could argue that Kheldians already have access to Epic pools in their base powers. They have so many powers that can do so many different things, they can 'round out' their weak spots within their own powersets. I think my slot sharing point would go along way in 'rounding out' the AT.
My addition: since Khelds are slightly underpar when soloing (by design), I wish it were more obviously true that a Kheldian will be the most powerful AT when on a full team. On full teams, I do often feel I'm the most powerful overall, but I want the rest of the team to clearly know it. Not wonder if I am - but to Know I Am haha. I want Stars, when building teams and the team is almost full, to eagerly wish for a Kheld to join, knowing the buffed up power they will be getting.
