* Customizatoin and Alt. Animations (where appropriate) proliferated to All Sets and Pools.
* More costume options (esp. new hair options and 'Plus' options for most or all 'w. Skin' costumes)
* New Epic
* Ability for a lvl 50 to do Radio/Newspaper type missions in every zone
Really I have a hard time thinking of anything somebody else hasn't mentioned already, or that's relatively easily done... -
Quote:Possibly, I can take on and solo just about any EB in the game. The only one I've really not be able to to do is the psi-using Jade Spider. But I've gotten more purples and accolades since last time I tried, so maybe it's time for a rematchI was wondering the same thing, and then I thought to myself that maybe she was talking about EBs... Or possibly fighting AVs while teaming becoming easier/more reliable when one starts IO'ing out...

Concerning the OP, I feel like my Human Only PB is certainly a Blapper Build, and I feel like I'm approaching the most optimal possible build for a PB Blapper.
So maybe I'll write a guide soon, or at least figure Mids out and post my build, but I'm really lazy with those things haha... -

All I know is my Peacebringer is going RED!!! Muahahaha

Quote:Let me again draw upon examples from my non-game programming experiences. I've had users request changes to web screens or windows forms, and they think they are being helpful by saying I only have to use a smaller area of data to start with. For example: Worker's Comp Injury Reports are grouped into U.S. State Jurisdictions, so even though there are difference between the States, the same code basically handles them all.I suppose the issue Im having is the INSISTENCE that Im refering to multi pools. Its as if youre disregarding what i said altogether. Sure, working on ALL the pools will certainly take time, especially if they dont actually have alternate animations or colors (and colors is mad work). BUT since Im ONLY refering to flight, which HAS the animations done (and NO colors) - IF they go that angle (and release only FLIGHT poses for now) - I dont think it will be as much work as you suggest. (Which is a redundant statement considering.)...
A User may suggest that I only do the changes 'for Georgia first, instead of all 50 States' - that way it won't require as much work for me to get going. What they don't realize is I can't just single out one State and leave as is the other 49 - it sorta all of them or none of them. To do the code differently for one State would actaully be *more* work, because I'd have a set of code for One and a different set for the other 49. The way the base code it; it's All of them or None of them.
I'm suggesting that Power Pools are similiar. You can't just pick one (ie. Flight) and say 'do just that one'. That may take the same amount of work as doing them all, and likely more work, since you now have to separate strands of code: one to handle the Flight Pool and another to handle all the other Pools.
I don't know if the difficulty for Pool Coding is in any way similiar to what I've described: this is just a possible scenario to explain how the behind code can be bound together in complex ways that the interface keeps hidden from you. -
I do recall reading the Devs saying that the pools were a good bit more work than the standard powersets. Why that is? Who know? I suspect it has alot to do with the Pool Powers not being 'locked' to your Character at creation, becaused I don't see the basic hooking of animations and/or colors to specific pool powers to be inherently more difficult than for the basic powers. Could be, but I'm sure it's the fluid nature of the pools that's it.
How are they going to do it? One way would be to give each Character Editable access to all Potential Pool Powers they *could* get at creation time. That's only about 5 times the data you have to hook to each character haha. Or (most likely) you'll only be able to edit a pool upon first selecting it (and then after), and that will require extra tables/files keeping up with which pools you've selected.
When they say it's alot of work, I believe them...
I'm a non-gaming programmer, and I get amused or irritated (depending on my mood) every time a user thinks the 'behind code' is easy simply because they see only a couple of controls on an interface. I can't imagine what gaming code must be like *shivers* -
Quote:Well, think I uncovered a game bug. Got a PI Safeguard mish to try my luck against 8-Man Malta and Carnie mobs, and when I entered the instance, the mobs didn't seem very large, and I beat a couple fairly easily. Exited the mish, went back to Hero Corp to check my setting. I was indeed set to 8-Man. Went back into safeguard and mobs were still small.Yeah, that's fair game... That's the PB's equivelant of Eclipse, except it's got that horrible crash at the end...
"Alien"
I know I didn't even select this mish until my settings were selected, so don't believe it was holding on to old settings. In fact, the settings for Bosses and Level did change properly. Only Mob sizes didn't adjust...
Has anybody else experienced mob sizes not changing in safeguard missions? -
Gonna try this soon with my PB on a PI Safeguard. Will have to use Light Form at some point, I'm certain (that's considered fair game, right?). If I succeed, then I'll figure out how to make videos and try again, recording it...
-
Thanks alot, you two
These links and hints are pretty all-encompassing. If I can make it happen with these I don't need a computer haha

My Seach-fu sux...
Can someone tell me how to go about recording your character's exploits, then saving it to a file that can play in Win. Media or youtube or somethin...
Or at least point me to a thread explaining the details.
Thanks a bunch... -
Well, I can't argue with you all dissing the Shape-Changing mechanics... They're clunky, starve you of slots, and I dislike them fairly strongly.
As Sarrate said, the shape-changing would have worked much better if all the forms shared certain powers (and perhaps disallowing a few for thematic reasons - Novas can't do Solar Flare Footstomps) with the forms basically acting as modifiers of power (Nova ups Damage and reduces defenses, Dwarf does the opposite, while Human is the middle)
IMHO, of course... -
Quote:My Human Only PB can solo and completely clear the Peregrine Bank safeguard (full of Malta and Carnies, Sappers and Dark Ring Mistresses) including stopping all vandals and complete all Side Missions, with a full 10 minutes to spare. The map is left an utter ghosttown...When a Kheldian cannot take a boss 1 on 1 in a safeguard mission. They archtype needs a pass and buffs by the devs. There is no other archtype on hero side that is a guaranteed fail against a even conning boss in a safeguard mission, except for the Kheldian.
Warshades and Peacebringers both arent where they should be. You cant tell me that a hero playing 50 levels on any archtype is going to be truly happy with them. Just look at the VEATs in comparison to the Kheldians.
They should be better then this.
Not that there isn't some things I would like for Khelds to have, but they're pretty dang effective - you're doing something way wrong it seems. Head to the Kheld forums as suggested...
Again...
Quote:You cant tell me that a hero playing 50 levels on any archtype is going to be truly happy with them. -
I'll probably eventually do something similiar... I've proven that I can take an 8-man 0+ Map with Bosses, but I really do like quickly destroying mobs of enemies (why I liked the Roman wall so much). With 2 or 3 bosses in each mob, there isn't any quick mob destruction, and your defenses better be up to the task...

Quote:Am I'm begging the Devs to not let this stop them. I gosta have a Gold Peacebringer hahaUm, they're working on that. There's some issue whether or not to let them because of the game lore surrounding them...
Don't let lore or some sort of appeal to species or whatever stop you, Devs. Light can appear in multiple hues, ya know, and as for a species or race, look at the color variations with Humans and Housecats...
Now, limiting Peacebringers to the Light Colors and Warshades to the Dark Colors; I have no problems with that, but please let us change the colors of our Kheld Powerzzz...*blink blink*
While we're at it, I also want the the new tier 9 Eagle Claw Martial Arts animation for Incadescent Strike and the New Super Strength Groundstrike animation for Solar Flare. Radiant strike is okay, but wouldn't hurt to throw in an alt. animation there too
Not that I'm desparate or anthing -
Went ahead and finished that Nemesis map set for team of 8, including Bosses...
Be warned Khelds, 8-team with bosses will get you Cysts! haha
I was able to finish it, but had to jump into Light Form a few times when I got ganged up on by 20+ Nemis haha. That Cyst, for instance, it was surrounded by 3 Warhulks along with the other mobs - even in LF I had to hit heals a couple times while taking it out. I avoided Light Form as much as possible, to save it for those emergencies, and as long as I pulled corners or munched a few oranges and purples I was able to handle the mobs. Had to keep an eye on Health still though, and hit those heals... Oh and Breakfrees...really gotta have 'em now.
Bottom line is strategy has to be used, it's chaotic but fun, very challenging but not teethpulling... Really like I16 so far...but I'm scared to tackle 8-team Malta and Carnies *shiver*
Now I'll get those new Animations for my Tanker -
-
My first 50 was a Scapper and she was pretty awesome. However it didn't take long to realize I wasn't the best at a few things. I didn't know what a farm was at first, and I got invited to this PuG and they were clearing out that street map filled with Demons. Lots of Trollers and Defenders on that team. No tank, so I figured they'd want me to sort of off-tank, take alpha for them...
No, no, they just launched themselves into the huge mobs with their gobs of pets, buffs, and AoEs. I'd get off a Crane Kick or two, but then the whole mob would be dead! I was thinking, holy crap!!! In these scenarios, it was clear which ATs seemed more powerful and efficient.
To make myself feel a bit better, I started singling out the bosses in the mobs. At least I got more than a couple of attacks in before all the regular mobs were down and the other ATs finished off the bosses for me.
My uber level 50 Scrapper, with decent IOs, and now I know what that PuG really wanted me for - as a filler -
Quote:When fighting Large Mobs, this I agree with. I have all my AoEs 6-slotted and my PB can lawnmower thru some pretty good-sized mobs...I also should have been more specific too. I meant much later levels where on large teams (sans AV teams) I would much prefer cycling through the AoEs (which PBs have a good amount of) rather than chasing around one guy.
Quote:On a purely "subjective" side of it, I have tried a purely melee human form and a purely range/AoE build, and I much much prefer the ranged. I feel more potent and safer. Bearing in mind, however, that Solar Flare also causes knockback (melee knockback gets really old really fast for me), and that this is probably more a matter of my style. Number crunching or how you prefer to play may lead you elsewhere. -
Well, we're live! Logged for a bit with my Human PB during lunch and first thing I wanted to try was one of these challengy things. Went to Analyst and upped my teamsize to 8, to include Bosses. Decided to keep diff at my level at first...
Picked a Nemesis mish to try it out on. This is gonna be fun! Huge mobs with some fake Nemis and Warhulks thrown in. I made it thru 3 mobs without using lightform, and it was a mad chaotic blast!
I had to log then. Even though I didn't die, I can tell there is gonna be some tactics changes: pulling, munching inspirations, thanking the CoH Gods I have Shields, Heals, and KB to keep them off me haha
This proved a few things for me: I felt like my PB was powerful enough to handle 8 man mobs, and it seems I was right, even with bosses. With Lightform It'll be candy, but I try to not use LF except in emergencies (I hate how it looks that much). Also, not sure how well I will do if I bump diff. up to +4 - I will try that too at some point, probably without bossesAlso, not sure how well I'd be against 8-Man Malta or Carnie mobs.
Lots of things to try
Now I need to figure out how to make videos... -
Give up the Melee attacks?!?! *shudder*
Once you get some decent recharge going, Buildup, Radiant Strike, Inc. Strike, then another Radiant Strike = World of Hurt!!! Your ranged attacks will not touch this level of damage...
Yes, Radiant Strike does cause KB, but it doesn't knock them to Antactica. Close back in, perhaps firing off a Lumious Blast while doing so, and smack them again. I've also discovered that, using the above attack chain, that even if Radiant Strike causes KB, if you have immediatley fired of Inc. Strike right after, it will still connect, even if they're 10 feet away. -

/Signed! Splendid, well-conceived idea sir
Very nicely hooked with the Villain's 'Breakout' tutorial thingy

This is sorta hillarious.... Swinging from nothing would be alright if it only happened occasionally, but since it would happen continously while traveling, it's a no no.
But Super-Jumping from Water Surfaces is okay...Gotcha.
If they ever added a Swinging Power, though; I'd prefer that you couldn't swing higher than the nearest structures (Buildings, Trees) and that you had to be within a certain amount of yards of them to be able to do so. It could be a generous distance, so that you could swing down any street in Steel Canyon without having to make sure you were close to a building...
This would probably be a nightmare to code, but if they do, while they're at it, make Super-Jump not work in liquid
