My desire for this is pretty high - probably around 9 or so.
I've respecced out of a couple of Villain PPPs - even though the powers were great and effective, they didn't mesh with the look of my chosen primary/secondary. I couldn't handle looking at them, so off they went...
If Hasten were even a smidgen less useful, I wouldn't use it at all; I hate the fiery pompoms that much.
The day this is implemented there shall be much rejoicing... -
Quote:Oh I love the IO thing and like tricking out my 50s, and before I reach 50 on a toon I'll sell IOs she's come across (crafted and recipe) on the market. My MM at lvl 39 is sitting on about 200 million already. Weird, I guess, since I do craft and play the market, that I really don't wanna bother crafting for my own toon until late 40'sYeah, but having to do so for SOs at 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and then 50 adds up. Casually, I usually just craft IOs as they drop and don't go out of my ay to acquire them. Even with my lack of effort, I'm usually at 60%+ IOs by lvl 40 which is a pretty decent savings at the SO shop. Characters I'm more into, I do the whole set IO/frankenslot thing.
I've noticed that many people who hate the whole IO thing also don't tend to buy/sell at Wentworth's either, instead dumping their recipes on a vendor (sob) so they're unlikely to finance their SOs with a Crushing Impact sale.
Having gone both routes (casually Gen IOs and using plain ol SOs) to get to 50, I just don't consider the SO route that tedious; even a bit less so perhaps. To each their own. -
Quote:See, this I'm not sure of. I just loaded a 50's 2nd build from no SOs to all SOs for a few million, something I could make back by selling a single crushing impact. Prior to 50, you have to replace your SOs, what 6 times tops? Unless you're powerleveling up over a week, that's not that often, nor that expensive, not that frustrating. Each trip to the store every 5 levels takes about all of 10 minutes to reslot things. But yeah, replacing SOs is horribly inefficient. Slotting level 35 generic IOs at 32 instead of SOs saves a bunch of inf over the character's journey to 50, and you don't need to worry about them going red.
Is this significantly more aggravating or slower than acquiring a bunch of Gen. IOs and the required salvage, then crafting them? I went that route with a Brute on the way to 50, but with an MM I'm just going the SO way, intending to not even bother with IOs until lvl 47, and it nice. I'm just relaxing as I level up, even planning my 50 build. I tweak my 50' builds so much, new IOs respecs, that doing any tinkering prior to 47 seems a bit of a waste, considering the alternative (SOs) isn't that irritating. -
Oh yeah, Eagle's Claw followed by Dragon's Tail - I'm seeing lots of crits.
You can't wait until Eagle's Claw animation is finished. You need to have your next attacked queued before the Backflip starts (not sure about the baseball throw animation). Just press your next attack immediately after tapping EC and you should be fine -
My personal never-gonna-happen wish: the kheldian inherent changes from a self-buff to a team-buff, sort of like an auto-leadership power. PBs grant low damage ATs a damage buff, squishy ATs a DR buff, and trollers/doms and mag. buff. WSs flip this.
Then, to compensate for losing the self-buff, both PBs and WSs get always-on buffs roughly equal to what they'd have currently if they, say, were on a team that had 2 scrappers, 2 defenders, and 2 controllers. So, across the board +20% dmg, +10% DR, +2 mag mez resist.
Leave all else as is (although reducing some of the KB would be nice too). No other change really needed (although this change could make WSs even more uber and still way above PBs in performance - maybe PBs should get a few more tweaks here and there)
I think HEATs (esp PBs) would be much more soloable & much more welcome on teams with such a change. -
That's true. Although I feel Hasten has a hefty lead in the 'annoying FX' department, there likely would be a clamour to 'Yank Tough's Tarzan animation - you gutted Hasten!!!', followed by others. Oh well...
-
Wish I had your inside info...
Even so, I too doubt it's 90%, but I do wonder if the significant majority of players would prefer No Hasten FX (until full PP customization anyway) if it were super-duper easy for the devs to do
I'm talking hasten only, as it's the most intrusive PP effect. If you think they couldn't do it to hasten without also doing it to all other PPs, I agree.. but why in the world would you think that? -
Well I agree with some that doing PP customization right and not rushing it is the preferred option. Until that comes, I simply thought that outright removal of Hasten FX would be sort of a stopgap measure that would be fairly easy to implement and would be overwhelmingly preferred by most players (hasten seems to be by far the one power that conflicts with many player's chosen theme and custom look).
However, based on many of the responses so far; seems I was error about most not wanting Hasten FX gone until full PP customization came. That's somewhat of a surprise - oh well, let them hands glow then...
I also wondered of an alternate way to get PP customization out faster would be to sort of have a themed-looked for all of your toon's PP choices. Let's say maybe it could be based on the 5 origins. Say you chose 'Magic' PP. All power pools (and maybe vet attacks too) you choose could have a 'magic-based' animation, and so on for all the other origins. Furthermore, you could pick two colors that would cascade thru all your PPs FX for further customization.
Not full PP customization, but 5 different 'themes' for limited customization, perhaps the option of maintaining the 'legacy' look as well. -
I guess I was hoping this would be 'relatively' trivial code to do. forget standard code rant, I said relative, as in much easier than outright customization. If it's really really hard, that's a whole different matter.
-
I hate da Pompoms...
I know Power Pool customization is some ways off. Maybe a long ways off.
But, in the meantime, if the Devs could just outright remove the 'Fiery Pompoms' from Hasten, replace it with NoFX or something much less intrusive (slight particle effect ala. Combat Jump). No customization, just a removal of the effect.
Would not 90% of the Player Base be satisfied with that? I know a few want the current FX - like some like KB. Still, if by far most would prefer Hasten's FXs gone, as it so very much gets in the way of other customizatiom, shouldn't it be done.
I guess this is sort of a vote thingy. Remove Hasten's Effects entirely:
Yes or No: -
I pretty much like all the OP's suggestions.
My PB was my main for a good while. I mainly solo and she could solo pretty well, but when the ability to up our difficulties to +8 came along... well, I wanted a toon that can solo at +8. Several of my alts can, but my PB (even loaded with 6 purple sets, all buff accolades, LotGs, Miracles...well you get the picture) cannot... +4 is about as high as I can get without faceplaning alot. Sorta saddened me when I saw the Vid of Alien1's Human Only Warshade soloing Malta at +4/+8, knowing my PB would never be able to do the same, even thought she had to be as Pimped out as his Shade, if not more so...
So, she's went into hibernation and I've considered gutting her and moving all her uber enhancments to other toons, but with changes like these taking effect... can you say 'Comeback Special???!!!' -
Yep, slotting a Blessing of the Zephyr -KB was the best thing I did for my Human Only PB (Human only from 1 to 50), and that includes her six purple sets

I've recently taken up a Mastermind, Thugs/Traps. Up to lvl 36 -- Lots of fun, and lots of great advice here about Slotting & Macros...so Thanks.
I do wish a Mastermind's attacks were more effective. I'd like to get in there and help my pets 'dish it out', but the Pistol damage just isn't enough to make it worth the bother (had them 4 & 5 slotted too). I'm more effective helping out with the Vet Attacks, so I recently respecced and totally got rid of my Pistol attacks, replacing them with more powers from the secondary... and am seeing a much more effective MM as a result.
While I enjoy being more effective, I sure like those Pistols and wish they were more than Pop Guns...
I know, I know... I've read post after post saying MMs shouldn't really be attacking anyway. Fair enough, and with the limited attack power, actually good advice. Those attacks are there, though, 3 powers in the Primary -- seems odd that you're less effective for taking them at all. -
Yeah it happens. I've got a macro set for my Arsonist to make him come back to me (trying to keep him from dying all the time). Set to his name ("Matchwork"), I'll notice that sometimes the wrong thug comes back cuz the names got switched. Needs fixin...

On my 50 Brute (and 50 Tanker & 50 Scrapper) typically +0/+8. Love pushing thru hordes of enemies, but playtime is at odd hours and often limited to an hour or less, so I like having a reasonable time to finish missions.
While my higher level toons tend to be decently 'tricked out' and numbercrunched, I don't try superhard to squeeze every last bit of extra Defense, Regen, or Damage I can into them, so while +2/+8 is doable (and even +4/+8 if I take my time and eat Inspirations like chicklets) those difficulties will guarantee a few trips to the hospital and often an unfinished mission I'll have to redo later. -
I really noticed a difference when I finally got the fighting pool in my SS/WP Brute. I like the feeling of being reeaaaally tough. Don't want to be totally invulnerable as that would be a bit boring, but it surely allows me to ramp things up a bit.
Last night I duoed with a Tanker (A Stoner). He faceplanted when we aggroed two mobs +8 mobs. I told him to hang on while I finished them off so he could rez - something I don't think I could have done without Tough and Weave. Made him feel bad/useless (but he felt better after I instructed him on how indestructable he'd be with different powers choice and IO slotting, incl getting Tough/Weave, but it still felt pretty good be able to 'save a stoner' haha

Passing as well. A Party Pack has so much potential. Even if it had just a couple of extra costume bits I probably would have gotten it.
And I absolutely cannot believe no CoH Rep has even responded. Maybe marketing is forcing hands here, and Mods/Devs are just too embarrased to comment on it -
All Powers defy logic, but even so, we prefer to think that in a super hero world, normal physics still basically works unless being acted on by Super Powers. ie. Superman can fly by unknown reasons, nevertheless, gravity is still expected to work normally in normal everyday situations. So, when we see 'Powers' that defy Physics in irrational ways, we have disconnects...
More examples of powers that do such:
Superjumping on Water.
Pulling Rocks Slabs out of metal scaffolding (Hurl). Perhaps transmuting elements is also involved.
Taunt as a Power. Anybody can 'Taunt'. "You suck!!!!". Mind Control Powers better describe how the power currently works
Most MM Pet Summoning animations: "Wow, a Sewer lid up here in the hills, and my Thug henchman happened to be in it...What are the odds?"
Damage AoEs only effecting unfriendlies: talk about selective nuking... -
Since we aren't getting Power Pool customization for while... how about a Minimal FX for that effects *ALL* Pool Powers... (Hasten, Hasten...) Just put a little Power Pool Min. FX toggle over there in right right corner of the Powers Color Screen.... Purty Please....
-
Concerning Tails: keep the still ones. In fact, make a non-moving version of the wolf-tail. I was all 'hmmmm...' that there wasn't one with re-designing a Werewolf toon. He's never happy, and never wags his tail...

Way Cool with Castle's PM, Billz
With the 3 freed slots, I'll be picking up a couple Utility Powers for my Human Only PB - Most likely Glowing Touch & Quantum Flight... and *sigh* probably White Dwarf, just as a free BF and Getaway Emergency Power. Man I wished it looked different though... -
I find myself agreeing with Bill's prophecies. There is power creepage happening and it will be dealt with at some point
I'm eventually anticipating (or suggesting) a sort of ED-type effect, but dealing with Mult. players with team-buffing powers in a similar scaling effect as Enhancment effects work with Powers.
Let's say you have a player giving the team a particular buff (ex: an FF Defender giving everyone defense). A second FF Defender (or any other AT that gives a team Defense Bonus) joins. Both Buffers would see their 'buffage' numbers drop a bit. Still be more buff than if just one of them, but no longer twice as much. Add a 3rd buffer, and you'd see even more decrease in each individuals effect, even as the teams overall effect grows (just not as much as before). I could see this happening in such a way that having more than 3 ATs that give the same team buff will be seen a sort of a waste... Similiar to how more than 3 enhancements of the same type results in diminishing returns for a power.
This could effect many global team buffs, incl all the Leadership toggles.
Personally, I wouldn't be against this. It'd certainly make teams want to diversify a bit more. And those all-Defender teams that break the game would be history. -
Option 2...IF!!!... a way of reorganizing the menu option isn't too hard to do (as in would delay this project of Davids by a few weeks). There is too much clutter already and I don't want it added to.
Option 1 otherwise. I want better detailed skin pieces ASAP, and I rather not wait any more than I have too just keep the Body Paint stuff... -
For my 50 SS/WP Brute I plan on picking up Assault and Maneuvers. I have all 4 fitness powers so I'll be getting 2 extra powers as well, but not sure what else I want. In that light, got a question for you guys...
I run all 4 WP Toggles, along with Tough, Weave, and CJ, and typically also keep Sprint on. Lot of toggles but I have Quick Recover and Stamina 4-slotted with a Performance Shifter Proc in each, so I never even breath hard, even with Rage, Hasten, or RttC crashes. I sometimes wonder if I could even spare a slot from Stamina and QR.
However. I know that Assault and Maneuvers, single slotted, with likely a LotG in Maneavers, will put some extra hefty End Drain on me. Do you think with my Current QR and Stamina Slotting this won't cause me a problem and I can pick up a QoL power or two, or will I need to dip into APPs for Conserve Energy and Physical Perfection (both would likely be Single Slotted) to offset the New End. Drain?
I haven't learned how to use Mids so don't know how to post the numbers, but I'm very well IOd out all around. Maybe one of you Number Gurus could give a good guess. Thanks -
Quote:While the OP has retracted his stance, others (on this and other threads) have not. To keep acting like Free Inherent Fitness is really a problem sounds like whining about a problem that simply doesn't exist, no matter how you spin it.Then lrn2read. Seriously, bringing up a concern in a civil manner is not the same thing as whining. I really think most of yall lack fundamental comprehension skills sometimes.
I would expand, but more than likely someone will once again get butthurt and my post will get stealth edited again by a mod.
and then you get all pissy about people calling them out on it by being a bit insulting and calling into question their comprehension... *Thumbs Up Dude*
I don't need to "lrn2read" (god I hate leetspeak) - I comprehend 'whinyness' just fine when I see it, and don't see a need to sugarcoat it.
