  1. Well, it's true that RttC ToHit Debuff is not that much, but -ToHit is used in the same formulas that Defense is, so... my thinking is that that if you're close to SoftCap (say, near 40%), some extra -ToHit can get you 'effectively' over the top (at least it can for most minions; I think Bosses and such can resist it somewhat...).

Anyhow, I put 4 Dark Watcher's despairs in there for that very reason (and extra Recovery, Health, and Recharge bonuses from that set is never a bad thing for the ATs that use Willpower . Threw in a couple of Numinas to top it off.

I didn't bother with Taunt enhancments. If you want to be a serious taunt-bot, get something besides Willpower *shrug*

  3. I played a PB as my main for almost a year and a half - loved her and lavished gifts in the form of accolades, purples, and other high-end IOs that Inf could buy. I always knew that PBs were supposed to be middle-of-the-road toons sorta of good at many things, so I was fine that I wasn't the best DPSer, Tanker, etc, as I felt that my worst aspects were better than other toon's worst

Gradually, as I played other toons, I came to realize that with Patron Pools, Vet Powers, and intelligent slotting, other ATs could easily fill in their 'weak spots. In effect, they could become Jack of all Trades *and* Masters of One. My Thugs/Traps MM, softcapped and providing protection/controls and damage to the team, easily outshines anything my PB can do.

My current Main, a Brute, just seems to bring more to a team than my PB can under any circumstance, with none of the unwanted extras (KB and Cysts, I'm lookin' at you).

So, I'll never delete my PB, but she sits in retirement, gutted of all her awesome goodies. Someday, if PBs ever get the attention they deserve, I'll deck her back out and make a comeback...

Till then, she only comes out for badges or nostalgia
  4. With going into the formulas, I'll just add that my /WP Brute pulls aggro off tanks regularly enough. Usually the Tank can get it back relatively quickly but sometimes I'm suprized at how long an AV will stay on me even as I hear the plink plink of the Tank's Taunt going off.
  5. These are great additions. I also suggested an 'Athletic Run' to be added to the Party Pack (applicable since it has sports animations), that had the same stats as Ninja/Beast run but used more conventional animations. I'd buy the party pack if it had that...
  6. heh.. I'd actually prefer the opposite. I'd like to override Ninja Run's animations with the default Run/Jump animations. I love the Utility/Stats of Ninja Run (and that it doesn't require a power pick), but I HATE its running animation (the jumping is more tolerable so I pretty much jump everywhere when using it)

Okay, noob moment for a several year vet...

After many teams, TFs, etc., I really don't understand how 'Targeting thru a Teammate' works. I always kinda thought you had to have your teammate in your target recticle, then when you attacked, you would go after whatever they had targeted. Forwhatever reason, that doesn't really seem to work. Where am I going wrong with this 'teammate targeting' thingy...?
  8. I just watched the new 'Clash of the Titans' last night...

After that meh-fest... Blah Blah Greek Gods indeed...
  9. Mephisto, your link took me to an 'Unauthorized Download' site. From there, there was link to ATI's main site. Anyhow, using your advice on disabling and removing Drivers before Installs, I was able to install the latest and greatest without too many Issues. COH runs fine, no update message at bottom right (and the Flickering Water surfaces in the game that started recently are gone as well).

    So...thanks a bunch

This doesn't always happen, but it happens more often than not.

While it is always best to uninstall your old driver and sweep your system with something like DriverSweeper... I can guarantee that even those of us that do this stuff for a living have been lazy at times and not had issues. For safety, you should go through the full process, but its your machine and you'll probably be fine. Both video card companies have done an excellent drop fixing issues that would cause problems with a driver update. I can't stress enough that your best plan is to fully sweep the drivers off, first, tho.

With your system, you would need this package: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/11-2_vis...dd_ccc_ocl.exe
Thanks, Mephisto, I'll give this a whirl when I get back home. Never used this 'DriverSweeper' - hopefully it's user-friendly
  11. Hey Guys, using the ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series [DELL SE198WFP] video card, and starting up COH I get that message at bottom right that says my drivers are old. Last time I saw this, I went the ATI's site, downloaded and installed (what I believed) the latest and best drivers for my specs...and it caused Havoc with my system. Desktop Icons moved all over the place and COH wouldn't even run, and it wasn't fun restoring the old drivers either...

I have no desire to repeat this. Can anyone tell me exactly which new driver download I should be using. Also, once I download, can I just run it then, or do I need to uninstall current drivers or any other pre-setup? Thanks a bunch...seriously

    Here's my basic system specs:

    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 635 Processor 2.90 GHz
    RAM: 4:00 GB
    System: 64-bit OS
  12. I generally don't like Fantasy Elves in movies - they just get a human actor (admitedly usually slim with minimal body hair, but still...) and stick pointy ears on them. If Elves don't have large, slanted, almond-shaped eyes it just doesn't work, IMO.

'Course, I used to like Elves more than I do now, so whatevas.

Indeed, I don't 'chase' fury anymore. It'll build fast enough, even from nothing, especially if you have large mobs attacking you... and what Brute worth her Smash doesn't want to be in the middle of large mob
  14. /signed to Collateral damage
    /unsigned to it costing Inf

I'm all for the Environment being effected by super battles. I love instanced maps where's there's lots of foes that leave debris all over the place (various robots, arachnos spiders, etc...). Now that looks like you've been in a fight. If trees, cars, bus stops, etc., were smashed up and laying around as well, bring on the mayhem. Heck, in instance missions, leave the bodies of defeated foes laying there until the mish is over. Bodies lying at all angles after a fight, and you gotta walk thru/around them - talk about changing the 'feel' of most fights (and possibly the game's rating, haha)

While we're talking about things that are Never-Gonna-Happen, I wish that most powerful attacks caused knockback, and that knockback itself resulted in extra personal and collateral damage, that AoEs would cause 'friendly fire' damage to teammates ('and only teammates, to avoid griefing'). And enemy mobs to abide by the same rules...

Dynamic combat over herding & lumping any day for me, thank you.

But like I said, never gonna happen, and likely unwanted by many, maybe most, players...

This, and what 'makes sense' depends on your Alts's concepts and whether you want to make that kind of gaming time sink for them.

I have 5 50's. 3 have gotten at least the Uncommon Alpha, and I've decided that only One of these will continue the Incarnate Road and become my 'Superman'. She'll max out on everything that becomes available. This is because of concept *and* time constraints.

All I know is I absolutely saw those Purple Letters indicating a drop, and when I looked in my Inventory it was not there, and my Inventory was full.

Maybe you're right, but something stopped me from getting it. I assumed it was due to a full inventory...

I'm sure everyone is so fond of Void Hunters, they'd like to see every origin get something similar.
I paid 2.5 Billion for one. Why not? It's game money - not real money. I already had everything else I wanted, and I had the spare change

And that extra 3% Defense pushed me from near 41% S/L to near 44%, and if you understand how the math on how defense works, that tiny changed reduced ALL my incoming damage by almost HALF!!!

    Worth it? Heck yeah!

The answer is probably zero, but it could be as high as ONE!
I lost an Armageddon Purple once. Had the big purple letters flash notifying me of the drop. After I killed all the mobs, I looked in my inventory to see it. Wasn't there...because my inventory was full and there wasn't room for it to fit...but I had some smoke grenades and revolvers.

You're telling me, you'd really look back on the origins and complain that if you'd known which origin would of gotten one of those bonuses, you'd be upset?

Those bonuses, which are rather trivial, you'd let that upset you? o.O

I'd still be choosing my origins based entirely on concept, as those bonuses really do nothing for the builds other than have me think "Oh wow, still going to slot the way I was going to slot"
Dunno, I'm sitting at 43.9% defense vs S/L on my Willpower Brute - that 2% Def via being 'Natural' would put me over Softcap and is the one I'd take in a heartbeat (currently she's mutant). 2% Def isn't trivial when you approach the softcap. People pay millions for IOs that push them ever closer to it (in the case of a certain PvP IO, even billions). It's that big a deal.

My concept would fit just fine as Natural, thank you very much, and for extra defense that's the way I'd go most of the time. That doesn't mean I'm just a number cruncher. Concept and Immersion matter to me a great deal, but performance and being able to take on the hardest challenges in the game are fun to, and making build that can do that is a game unto itself, and an extra free +2% Def would be invaluable.
  21. I 4-slotted Stamina and QR for my SS/WP brute because I "Never wanted to have Endurance Problems again". Each had 2 Reg. EndMod IOs, & Full End Mod IO and Proc from Performance Shifter, so prior to Stamina becoming inherent, I literally never had End Problems anymore, even with Rage & Hasten Crashes and Never turning sprint off.

Then, inherent stamina... So, I decided to see how far my 'Energizer Bunny" could be pushed. I picked up 3 toggles from Leadership and put Mule IOs (another LotG recharge, etc) in them, and pretty much nothing to reduce their End cost. So, with those toggles on, along with the 4 from Willpower, and Tough/Weave, and Combat Jumping, I have 10 toggles going pretty much all the time. Additionaly, I minimized some of the slotting in my attacks (meaning they eat a bit more end.)... and I finally start to have to worry about Endurance again

Still, it's not that bad unless I'm fighting Carnies or other End Drainers, but I do tend to turn Sprint off now when fighting...and if I see my Rage icon blinking, I take a quick look at my End to make sure I don't have to pop a blue -- I can't just ignore it anymore. Still very satisfied with this new build and if End Drain gets to be too much I can always turn off leadership toggles (which I've only done a couple times so far)

Bottom Line: even Willpower has limits to how far you can push it
  22. How do you guys know what the future WSFs will be? Where is that posted/stated?

  24. Yeah, it's really too late in the game to make Origin-Effects that make an actual In-game difference.

Now, one thing that I think would be workable is how things look. A previous poster said something about Auras/Costumes that were origin specific. I often wish that veteran attacks like Sands of Mu/Black Wand (very magical) could be more given a different look to make them seem 'natural' to other Origins.

However, the more I think about it, maybe those shouldn't really be locked to an Origin. I'd get upset if the 'Natural' Sands of Mu clone looked much cooler than the 'Mutant' one (which my main is). I suppose it'd be better if all looks were available, like the Prestige Sprints.

So, ultimately, NO to locked-in origin specific anything - YES to more variety of anything.
