    Illusion dom

    Again, only Arbiter Hawk thought that it would be problematic. Synapse actually said he'd think that it wouldn't perform as well on Dominators. Let's look at Phantom Army synergies for Controller secondaries...

    Illusion Controller

    Cold Domination: Infrigidate, Benumb, Sleet.
    Dark Affinity: Twilight Grasp, Tar Patch.
    Empathy: None.
    Force Field: None.
    Kinetics: Transfusion.
    Nature Affinity: Corrosive Enzymes, Spore Clouds.
    Poison: Envenom, Venomous Gas.
    Radiation Emission: Radiation Infection, Enervating Field, Lingering Radiation, EM Pulse.
    Sonic Resonance: Disruption Field, Liquefy.
    Storm Summoning: Freezing Rain.
    Thermal Radiation: Heat Exhaustion, Melt Armour.
    Time Manipulation: Time Crawl, Time Stop, Slowed Response.
    Trick Arrow: Acid Arrow, Disruption Arrow, EMP Arrow.

    Basically every power that does -Regen, -Res or -Def is useful to Phantom Army. Now, the Dominator secondary synergies...

    Illusion Dominator

    Dark Assault: None.
    Fiery Assault: None.
    Earth Assault: None.
    Icy Assault: None.
    Electricity Assault: None.
    Psionic Assault: Drain Psyche.
    Energy Assault: None.
    Thorny Assault: The powers that do -Defence.

    The damage that the Illusion Dominator would be putting out with the secondary would actually be going towards mitigating the heal back from the Phantom Army's attacks. The only major debuffs that a Dominator can get access to are in the Ancillary/Patron pools - Sleet, Melt Armour and, to a far lesser extent, Poisonous Ray.

    Controllers, on the other hand, get access to powers like Ice Storm and Fireball in their ancillaries. While they don't do as much damage as the Dominator's versions, the Controller gets access to powerful debuffs and buffs to boost the damage.

    If anything, levelling up an Illusion Dominator would be a smoother playing experience than an Illusion Controller simply because a Dominator can contribute to damage rather than sitting around spamming Spectral Wounds and Blind because the majority of the secondary powers are useless with Phantom Army. I imagine some Illusion Dominator combinations could also be frustrating, particularly Energy Assault and Electricity Assault, because the damage will be reduced by illusory heal back. By the time the two get to level 50 things will have evened out somewhat with Controllers possibly pulling ahead due to superior debuffs that are up more often than the Dominator's Sleet.

  6. I was reading patch notes for Issue 5 and it said that Holds, Stuns and Sleeps (as well as a few other powers like Ice Slick and Quicksand) had their durations decreased and recharge increased. The only AoE Confuse was in Mind Control so they most likely justified leaving it alone because Mind doesn't get a pet.

    Then came Plant Control with a faster recharging version that lasts just as long. This version should have had the same treatment as the Holds, Stuns and Sleeps because, unlike Mind, it gets its own pets to contribute to damage.

    I fail to see how Illusion/Anything will be more broken than Illusion/Radiation. Sure, Illusion/Psionic/Ice may rival it but those other two sets can make anything broken. The Phantom Army's powers all result in the damage being partially healed back, so the Dominator's damage output will be decreased because of this, and as the Dominator does mostly single target damage he/she won't be able to mitigate the heal back caused from the Phantom Army going crazy. It would also be very possible to steal aggro from the Army because of the decent damage and minimal debuffs in Assault sets.

    Of course, they could change the powers that the Phantom Army use in order to fill a different niche - have them use controls and debuffs that lose their potency after a few seconds rather than high amounts of damage that is healed back.
  8. I've see it quite often. It looks spectacular in Bonfire, though it has a chance of activating when you use the power, when the pseudo-pet is summoned and on the enemies every 10 seconds. The first kind of activation is hilarious (imagine throwing your arms up into the air and a mushroom cloud appearing on you) whilst the other two simply look really cool.

    Well there's obviously a difference of opinion between Hawkward and Synapse. The former sees Phantom Army on Dominators to be a problem whilst the latter believes that it would probably be less powerful on Dominators than Controllers (most likely due to the lack of Domination and debuffs to indirectly buff PA's damage output).

    I would play it as long as something similar to Phantom Army is included (if it were to be changed) and if Illusion Assault was made.

  11. With nukes recharging in around a minute with the correct slotting, AoE holds have lost even more use when teaming. I propose simply reversing one of the changes made - either increase the duration of the hold or reduce the recharge. I think that anything with 3+ minute recharge is a waste now that nukes will be up a lot more often. Not to mention that each Control set was affected differently by the nerfs - some, like Earth Control and Mind Control, could already rely on other control. Others, such as Ice Control and Gravity Control, relied on their AoE holds being up often to make up for their lack of other control.
  12. Bonfire is still functioning the same - 100% knockdown - so I don't think the fix is live yet. It's most likely that the knockdown is stacking to make it a higher mag.

    From what I understand, it's the old people who have made all the mistakes that have ruined the economy and ecosystem of the planet. It appears that the older generations have just as little clue as the younger people who are being prevented (e.g. increased life expectancy, rising retirement ages, employees employing experienced workers due to the economy making risk a bigger input in decisions, increasing population size resulting in more competition) from finding out and making their own mistakes. It is the only way to learn and right now the younger generation are not getting the chance to learn.

    I didn't actually make them blood blasts. I made the primary colour light blue, like the standard colour, with the secondary colour a dark red. The secondary colour isn't that prominent so it doesn't look that gruesome.

  17. I have. It's already allegedly an EU code. I got a US code the first time in the batch so I sent a PM to Hit Streak. He gave me a new one and that one doesn't work either. I sent another PM but I have yet to hear anything.

    At least Paragon Studios aren't a Japanese developer, otherwise they'd have to abide by the law for Preventing Unjustifiable Extra or Unexpected Benefit and Misleading Representation which, among other things, makes redistributing limited edition merchandise illegal.

  22. Hit Streak has already said that there were no plans. I don't think any amount of vitriol could ever change that decision.
  23. Domination has a duration. It is possible to get enough recharge so it recharges and can be activated again before the duration runs out. This is called Perma-Domination, or Perma-Dom for short. It will allow you to control bosses in one hit, making defence a moot point because a controlled enemy will not fight back and for EBs/AVs you can just use some purple inspirations until they are controlled.

    Also, defence is a useless unless you're at the soft cap (45% Defence). However, in Incarnate content enemies have an extra 14% ToHit so you will need 59% Defence for that. You're still quite a way off from the Defence softcap.

    Having said that, I personally do not build for defence at all. Instead I go for perma-Dom and perma-Hasten. Recharge is very much a priority for Dominators because it also allows control powers to be up more frequently, allowing you to control tougher enemies quicker as well as attack faster.
  24. I dislike this method greatly. I also dislike how there's a distinction between EU and US codes, making it even more of a gamble as to whether I get it or not. I don't use Twitter, I don't plan to ever use it. Stop penalising those of us who refuse to conform to such annoying marketing "tactics".

    The aura is something often requested and you decide to distribute it limited yet freely? I'd buy this aura, just like the Volcanic, Fireworks and Autumnal auras, if it was on the market. I'd bet that a lot of people would - certainly a lot more people than however many will be able to get it through this method. Don't you want money?

    The marketing team needs to be, as Synapse did with [Challenge], taken around the back of the shed and beaten until it becomes something better. Or at least less illogical.

    It's not as if new or as-yet-not-returned players are able to see the code, make an account, install the game, and enter the code before existing members do. You know what has a significantly higher proportion of users on than Twitter, Facebook and the forums? The Paragon Market.

    Isn't Placate simply a negative version of the Taunt value? The ATs that want to taunt can already taunt whilst those that want to dump aggro will now have something to give them the option of doing so.
