    My first lambda

You may be able to handle a team of 8 but are you able to handle a team of 16 or 24?

I usually play with everything nearly maxxed out and with hardly any lag but for trials I have to drop the graphics down to performance level or I can't even load. I don't mind that so much though because I've always had to do that for Rikti Mothership and Hamidon raids anyway. Maybe you should try lowering graphics? It's not like there's much to look at during raids.
  2. Simply having a pet fills a hole in my Mind/Psi/Mental. I decided to stick with the theme and go for Carnies.

Although extra lore trees in the store could be possible
That's kind of a shame. I really want to see Winter Horde, Malta, Primal Clockwork, Devouring Earth, Council or 5th Column, Knives of Artemis, Banished Pantheon, Nictus, Midnighters and Tsoo.

Though I'm placated as long as there's a Psionic Judgement in the pipeline.
  4. Well I've never even bothered taking anything that limits the Ice Slick, I always went by what it looked like in the power customisation screen so it's not too difficult to imagine it as a PBAoE.

Anyway, yes. I like Ice Control. There's something satisfying about Arctic Air with the Contagious Confusion proc. Whether something benefits from Domination or not is irrelevant as long as it's fun. A lot of the best powers don't benefit so it's not really a big deal.
  5. Immobilises are mostly pointless on Dominators. They stop things from moving, so what? They're useful for Controllers when you can debuff things to protect yourself and to set up Containment but on Dominators they just end up drawing aggro towards you and getting you killed. Not to mention that using them at the wrong time can keep things out of range of AoEs so you can't even hit them. They're not taken very often and if they are it's not because they're good powers by themselves.

Flash Freeze is gimped. It's useless. It's pointless as an opener because it's PBAoE. The sleep may kick in after 0.25 seconds but that's enough time for everything to attack you. Then you end up waking them all up anyway by attacking. At least Mass Hypnosis is ranged.

Flash Freeze can be counted if it must but Immobilises are hardly decent powers for Dominators. It's a good thing Illusion doesn't get them because all it would do is make Superior Invisibility pointless.
  6. I'd imagine a Luck set having two PBAoE auras, one for debuffing and one for buffing. Then using other moves would in the set would add those effects to the auras as long as you keep the auras up. Each aura would be mutually exclusive so you could either buff or debuff. If you use a debuff power whilst you have the buff aura up, instead of being applied to the aura it would just be used as a normal PBAoE attack.

For example, the initial auras would be either a to-hit debuff or a defence buff depending on which you choose. Other effects that could be added through using other powers would include knockdown, damage debuff, regeneration buff and status protection among others.
  7. Poisons manages to pull off a few watery effects off quite nicely. There's a spitty thing, a spray thing and a drippy thing on the hold. There are also fountains in the game already and there's Water Spout.

The reason why people want Water powers is for the visuals really. It could also be a combination of cold, smashing and fire damage. Saying you can use Energy Blast for water is just like the argument against Time powers by using Kinetics or Gravity; yes it can work, but it just doesn't feel completely right.

If we ignore the immobilise powers and gimped powers (like Flash Freeze) this is what we're left for with each set:

Earth: 3. Fossilise, Salt Crystals, Stalagmites. Salt Crystals is rarely taken.
Electric: 2 1/2. Tesla Cage, Paralysing Blast, Synaptic Overload (only on target)
    Fire: 3. Char, Flashfire, Cinders.
Gravity: 3. Gravity Distortion, Gravity Distortion Field, Wormhole.
Ice: 2. Block of Ice, Glacier.
Mind: 8. All but Levitate. Telekinesis is rarely taken.
Plant: 4. Entangle, Spore Burst, Seeds of Confusion, Vines. Spore Burst is rarely taken.

    If Illusion was in:

    Illusion: 3. Blind, Deceive, Flash.

Therefore, Illusion fits just as well as all the other sets except Mind which is an anomaly. It fits.

Domination isn't just for more powerful controls, it also provides very useful status protection and a free endurance refill.
  9. Illusory Assault: Secondary for Dominators to go with Illusion Control. Graphically, it looks quite ethereal. Characterised by its high, spectral wounds style damage. Has placation secondary effects in the form of a ranged attack and a PBAoE. Other powers have a small chance to confuse, similar to Electricity's small chance of sleep.

Dark Control: Borrows control powers from other Dark sets while adding its own. Control includes fear, sleep, stun, along with the standard holds and immobilises. Debuffs include to-hit and perception. The pet uses the doppelganger tech to create a shadow version of yourself that uses several powers from Dark Assault.

Dark Assault: Uses blasts and melee attacks from Dark Blast and Melee. Uses Oppressive Gloom from Dark Armour.
  10. Are there any screenshots of all the auras then? Wouldn't want to waste valuable merits on something we can't see before we buy.
  11. I hope so. It's the only AT that doesn't have a by-design natural or tech set.

On the Assault side, I'd like to see sets using Martial Arts and Dual Pistols, and Broadsword/War Mace/Battle Axe and Archery.
  12. I did think of that for my Plant/Thorns but right now she doesn't have much AoE so I'm waiting until after I get Thorn Burst.
  13. The first character I made was a Gravity/Kinetics Controller. Now I can't stand playing them, that's mainly down to the secondary. I slowly grew resentful towards buffing people that I stopped playing my forum namesake, an Ice/Cold Controller, and all my other Controllers that were buff oriented. So I turned to Dominators instead; all the fun of my primary with the extra feelings of awesomeness from my secondary.

So you could say I stopped playing my main AT because of other people. Now if I'm not soloing I only really duo with one of my friends.

Maybe with the buff changes in i20.5 I will grow to love Controllers again, but right now I'm vaguely satisfied with Dominators. I would be more satisfied if there were more options available.
  14. Yay for shared tactics! I pretty much only play Dominators (and maybe some controllers every now and then) so I know how to play, it's just that I never usually take the AoE immob powers unless I'm using Fire Control so I wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not but it seems to be working out ok.
  15. I usually begin with Synaptic Overload, wait a few seconds, run in with Jolting Chains and then lay down a Static Field then just destroy everything. I've been playing at x5.
  16. Yes, I have noticed that it drains everything quicker, mainly because of how Jolting Chains and Synaptic Overload work. I also know that AoE immobs can backfire quite badly on a Dominator; the only one before this I would consider taking is Fire Cages to make a pseudo-hold with Flashfire.
  17. I'm pretty sure in the ustream yesterday they made a point of saying that CoH:Freedom would have "more powers, more content, more costumes". Second Measure also said that there was a new set that he wasn't allowed to talk about, but he's wanted it for ages. Zwillinger also said that they haven't revealed everything about i21 because it's bigger than i18 and there'd be too much to take in at once, he also started to count the new power sets and said "two" before being shot by his own nerf-gun by Black Pebble.
  18. Well I'm planning on going Mu Mastery and, if I get there, Ionic Judgement so I'll have two AoEs. I think I'll stick with Chain Fences for now.
  19. Dark Miasma is control that Controllers don't get. It can't be a primary because of the debuffs and heal, it can't be a secondary because of Dark Servant. If Dark Control is made there probably won't be a Dark secondary to go along with it. The whole point is Containment, Domination, control and support, and control and assault.

On the subject of Time Manipulation, I think it's unlikely to have a pet simply because it's going to Controllers. It could end up being very broken if it uses Doppelganger tech to create a weaker version of you. If this has level shifts then imagine a Fire/Time controller with a level shifted Time doppelganger thing that summons another three Fire Imps. Illusion/Time with two sets of Phantom Army, Spectral Terror and Phantasm. Plant/Time with even more Carrion Creepers. That's just from the Controller side. Think of Masterminds with Thugs/Time.

If it does get doppelganger tech then Defenders will be left in the dust among the even more powerful Controllers, Corruptors and Masterminds. If it does get such a pet then it should be a Control set.
  20. It should come with a free fez. Fezzes are cool too.
  21. I recently got my Electric/Electric Dom to level 35 and, at first, I was going to get Thunder Strike simply because it's an extra attack and I don't care about knockback that much. Then whilst going from 33 to 35 I started to get very frustrated that things, particular ones that my Gremlins are fighting, were running away half way through the map, dragging my Gremlins through countless mobs so I thought I'd get Chain Fences instead.

So I hit level 35 and picked Chain Fences but, as usual for me with Dominators and AoE immobilise, I'm very unsatisfied with how it's working out. It seems like they're attacking me more now that they've been stopped from moving.

So basically, I'm asking if I should use a freespec to get an extra attack, stick it out with Chain Fences, or go for something else entirely. Right now I have every power in my primary and secondary apart from Electric Fence, Zapp and Thunder Strike. My power pools include Hasten (obviously), Super Speed, Combat Jumping, Aid Other and Aid Self.
  22. This just screams Dark Miasma to me. Oh well, my hopes for Time Control can go and hang out with Dark Control and Dark Assault in the "unlikely to ever happen" room.

I really like this idea! It's a shame I only find Dominators interesting.

    Ice/Ice/Ice Dom

I usually put 3 End Reduces in and the purple confuse proc. Basically every time it confuses something there's a chance for anything near it to get confused. I think the confuse from the proc lasts longer but I'm not sure. What usually happens though is that the confuse from the proc helps stop things running away so more things get confused, making the proc fire off more.
  25. I don't have much experience with the set, but I think Skewer and Fling Thorns are considered to be good. Skewer has a very fast animation and does a lot of damage. Fling Thorns is a large cone so it tends to hit a lot of things even if you're up close. It's also good for inflicting cascading defence failure.
